WGA Strike News....

Well, it seems that the Writers of the WGA are on strike, which was thought likely. There are rumours that the directors, actors and crew unions may be also striking in sympathy, and support the Writers 100%.

It will be all over the news in a day or two, so I don't think that I am jumping the gun by telling you that PAAA ( Personal Assistants Association of America ) will also be going on strike as of later this week sometime, soon , in sympathy with the Writers.

( hey , like PA's have time to schedule these things... )

THIS is BIG news, people. We can do without writers, directors, actors and such, but no PA's??? Let me be the first to tell you nothing will get done. The industry will grind to a halt amid chaos and destruction in a matter of days. We feel , however brutal this may seem, it is the only way of bringing this strike to a quick conclusion.

In hopes that they will be available post strike and able to save themselves, ( it will simply not be safe anywhere ) and also to help resist the urge to assist ( something completely forbidden during the strike ) it has been decided by PAAA that the PA's will remove themselves for the duration of the strike.

To that end, they have ,( using their vast contacts, influence and Rolodex's, ) rented out the Bahama's in their entirety, and will reside there until matters are resolved.

Trick or Treat

I am getting ready for MY Halloween party! What started as a small get together is now turning into a Halloween extravaganza. How did that happen? Oh, it is a Malena party. I do tend to get carried away with these things. I only WISH Fablo and Kitty were here. Kimberly Butler would also be a silly addition to the mix. NEVER grow up! That's what I say!

Here are a few pics from Halloween I thought you might like. The feathers are from Fablo. She bought them for me at the WI Renn Faire. Oh how I miss that. Look at my little Alice! Isn't she cute!

We had some darling trick or treaters this year. Now for the finale tonight. I'm going to try and rig up my camcorder, or at least the webcam. I'm baking sugar cookies and brownies and caramel popcorn. I thought since the neighborhood kids and I don't drink, we should at least OD on sugar. (On my actress diet, that's 2 cookies) Oh the pain!

I also bought a super dorky skull fountain, to keep the "Mormon Punch" in. (That's Rasberry sherbet and Sprite)

I think I'll add cranberry juice for color. The punch oozes from the skulls eyes. It should be fun. I've got the courtyard all lit up with spiders and lights. Oooooooo darlinG!

I hope it is a big success and everyone has a great time.

Halloween Night!

I am spent today getting more and more excited about Halloween! Here is me in my costume...

I seem to be costumed as Myself. I made hot cider, ( I have a Spooky Sighter Cider Thing ) got candy , a few last minute Bats and Skulls, lit all the candles, got my Halloween Town all battery-ed and plugged in..... I was ready for the Party!

Then it dawned on me, that I hadn't actually invited anyone and I was having a party by myself. Gads, I thought, Who has a party by themselves???? I wanted to write something about Halloween and magic and the Spirit that lives inside us, and the monsters that live under the bed, when I saw the link that Spacelaw had posted. And I think she already said it. As well, if not better that I could. It deserves its own post....

" This year, pushed by a certain amount of nostalgia, I decided to host a Halloween party.
But since I live in a country where people do not celebrate Halloween, I decided to keep it private.

My heart is full of ghosts, so the choice of that organ for a haunted house seems adequate. My ghosts are cheeky enough – they are friends after all - so I am sure they will be game.
Decorating will not be so much of an issue: The walls are a deep red and gory looking already and Time has left plenty of cobwebs in the corners of my head or in abandoned chambers of my heart to pitch a perfect atmosphere. Memories of laughter long past and gone will be our lights: They are both suitably faded and bright enough still that we shall not need more. Having said that, a few skull shaped candles here or there will not go amiss.

Love will be our drink for the party, fizzy and lethal. I hope you don’t mind…
It shall bubble from the cup of our lost illusions, rich and bitter like crushed friendship, raising to our head like a torment. Sweet torment!
How lucky it was to have suffered loss of love so we might now enjoy the sweetness of that in bloom. How could we fail to get drunk on such nectar?

Spiders in their webs will play a string concerto.
Music is a memory they say. Let it tinkle in the chandeliers, caress the ribbons of poetry hanging at the window like so many chimes. Let it tick in your soul and tack in your heart, reeling in the sweet buzzing of bees in summer, the wind howling in your hair and that minute whisper of the first drop of snow flying in the river. For our more animal needs, nearby blood rushing will drum a deeper melody of time and hunt.

For what is a party without flirt? Do mingle and have a good time.
The ghosts here are all friends and enjoy a laugh or two. Or three. No doubt they will tell you numerous funny anecdotes of their time, embarrassing me with awkward tales, pictures and many a re-enactment in their impish ways. They'll try to spook you too, no doubt; it IS Halloween after all is said and done. They mean no harm but if you feign horror they will be delighted. They have so little occasions to enjoy themselves... They will trick and treat you until it is time for you to leave (which is when candles will be sputtering and threatening to set my heart on fire).

Above all, have fun, for that is what parties are for.
Otherwise you might as well be sitting at home in your pyjamas, munching on the odd cookie."

A few people did end up dropping by, a Boss, a Young Person and her friend, Merry housekeeper with Mini-man and the Spooky Daughter, and Christy and Drea, all very fun. Now tho, it's me and the candles and the ghosts and a Freaky Little Venus. And we are having a magic time.

I have been out Freaky-ed in the Pet World

Hera sent me some pictures this morning of her new Puppy. That girl is more out there than I am when it comes to Strange Pets. I take my hat off to her! She , somehow, managed to get a DOG that is every but as Freaky as her CAT. Don't know how she managed it, but approve, oh yes!

And speaking of Kitties, I rang the Humane Society and Garfield, the poor rescued Kitty, is doing well and has been re-united with his grateful family.

Our Malena is Beyond busy with the Season upon us. Hollywood is NOT a town to mess around with the most important Holiday of the year, and if you are having an event, it is simply not happening unless you can get the Halloween A list, and that means Miss Halloween herself, Malena. And of course, irony being what it is, everything she is currently shooting picks THIS month to shoot. I have been doing the math, using the times I get short little, sleepy , e-mails form her, and I am not certain she actually is sleeping.... I am sure we will get some pictures from her as soon as things settle down, but for now I will post this still from the film she is currently shooting with Warner Pictures...... ( do you recognise her co-star????? FUN! I will oggle George Clooney any day!!)

Spent yesterday our riding with a friend on the sweetest little black mare I have ever road. Fall is the perfect time for such things, and it was almost like a Hallmark movie ( not that I have ever seen one, but you know what I mean ) thru an apple orchard, picking apples, leaves all doing the leaf thing, fun little canters across green fields, it was all there.
