Thanks to the LaMies
What a talented group we have here! Kristina, one of our beloved LaMies, made these darling spider rings. Of course I said, "Send us a few honey!" Who could resist 7 legged spiders?
AND
Danth Guyth made us our NEW info form. So, when you sign up to be in the LaMie fan club, thank Danth. He's also working on "LaMieChat" A wonderful little chat room JUST for LaMies on OUR site. LaMies UNITE! I'm excited.
AND
Ravyn is working on her spiderweb airbrush techniques. Soon, she will have all sorts of spider-ific accessories to share with us. RIGHT Nora? Can't wait. Hey, I'll be your model. Bring some samples to Balticon and we'll take photos. (Everyone....bring a camera and get ready to party) Super model, WORK!
We're very excited for Balticon. I've even BEGGED Fablo to sing the Unicorn song with me for the children's program. Considering she plays it in the pubs ALL the time, it was a grand gesture of kindness for her to say, YES! Kind of like Tea and Corpses. Another song I will NOT LET DIE. Ha haa. I really love that song. We're going to be singing lots of Neil songs at the CONS.
Can't wait!!! I'm working on our costumes as we speak. Lorraine doesn't know she will be wearing a SHORT school girl skirt, corseted boots, and a leather corset..ok, ok..tank top. But, hey..that's what the blog is for! This way, I can embarrass her in public and still live.
Kitty and I went out last night to her art show. One of her pieces sold before the show opened! What a bigshot photographer she is! The front window of the tattoo/gallery was filled with skeletons and taxidermy. God, I wish I had my camera. I thought of Lorraine and my LaMies. You would have loved it.
And off the subject, have you seen this?

Regardless if it's real or not, it's DAMN cool!

Sherpa! Let me know when you get the potions! Mwaaaaaaa ha ha haaa!
P.S. I ordered your Shirt!
You two seem to be attracting talented people into your orbit by the magnetic pull of glamtabulousness.
I am still mulling over my costume. I'm most excited by going GothLoli, so I hope that comes together. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for something I need for a Lisa-related costume too.
Here's some photos of the GothLoli Girls in Japan. Good fashion reference!

GothLoli goodness!
To get:
(Just thinking out loud here.)
* new fishnet stockings
* dress and possibly a lot of dye
* tiny top hat or bonnet thingie
* hair
* evil teddy bear, purse, or Jack Skelington
Would it be unhygenic to borrow makeup from someone or do I need to buy that too?
Danth_ girls do it all the time. I've never gotten sick. Just don't use another persons mascara.
You can always buy a square dancing dress off Ebay and dye it black!
BTW, Danth made us a LaMie chat! (link on front page) Just type in your desired user name, and then type your messages on the bottom.
Danth...
I bought a wonderful sample pack of bare escentuals make up from ebay for about $10.
Bare escentuals is pure crushed minerals and is, supposedly, good for the skin. Their high-tier line is called colorescience. They make my skin look incredible!
I do recommend colorescience mascara and eyeliner though.
I notice people on this list seem to like Mac. I've never used it...I was a sworn Shiseido/Chanel gurrrlll meself.
But Ebay, baby, is the way to go. But, beware, sometimes you can google up better prices.
I've never had much luck with cheapo drugstore brands as I'm very sensitive, but I know people can use any inexpesnive makeup and be just fine.
I'll have plenty of makeup available as I am sure so will everyone else.
BTW, GORGEOUS rings!!
Oh, and what fabtabulous photos, Malena...you have one hottie for a huzbin!!!
Kristina - great rings, and great photos you posted Malena - very cool (go gothloli Danth go!)! Also congrats to Kitty on your show and sale! Yes indeed a talented bunch. I have never worn mac cosmetics myself, and never heard of colorescience and will google them - I have sensitive skin too and always reticent to try products as red rimmed eyes is not a great look!
I guess we're live! Consider this beta testing and feel free to suggest changes. The chat room is AJAX-based so you don't have to deal with Java applets, ActiveX controls, or installing anything. That does mean you need a "modern" browser, though.
(I'm working on another possibility that would degrade gracefully for those with antiquated browsers, but it isn't ready yet.)
I'll be sitting in there all day (read as: until 2pm EST) if anyone wants to drop by and help test it out.
Hey Dan the chat center is very cool! - suddenly my computer either stopped posting or wouldnt add to the screen cuz it was full (am I making sense?) anyway fun talking and it beats getting ready for work which now I must do. enjoy your day all, and ck out the chat area!
I can't log in! Waah!
I have come across one error with the timezone setting that caused me to bounce from the login to "Click here" and then back to the login. I tried a different TZ and refreshed a few times and it went away.
The makeup I've been using for the past year is Burt's Bees. I like it. ::shrug:: Granted, I've never been much for wearing makeup on a day to day basis.
That is a really cool (fake) dragon in a bottle. The spider rings are pretty spiffy, too!
Gee, Danth, looks like you ought to hit up local Goodwills/St. Vincent DePauls/second hand stores for platform shoes, too. It just seems to be part of the costumes. You could probably pick up a teddy bear there, too, and make some.....additions. ;)
Bare escentuals is the make-up I use. I got Lorraine hooked on it too. Ebay is the place baby.
Malena... thanks for posting the Gothloli photos.. kawaii!!! You certainly have a spiffy hubby.
Congrats on the sale Kitty... I hope the show is a smashing success.
I too want a dragon in a bottle... but I think I would just feel terrible seeing it everyday... imagining how lovely it would be out of the bottle... living... flying around... sigh... (same reason I couldn't have a caged bird)
Sherpa - good on you... I applaude all your efforts to keep our lovely LaM comfy and safe.
teehee.. glamtabulousness... great word.... describes LaM perfectly. Danth, I can't wait to see you Gothlolied out... sounds glamtaboulous!! I am afraid I have no make up advice... I never picked up the habit of putting on make up (being the type of person who will rub it off in under a minute... by accident).. but I am awfully fond of using dollar store glitter glue to make sparkly facial highlights... it is especially good for costumes. At the last con I went to both of my glitter-glue tubes were commandeered for the con mascots.
and I am really glad you liked the rings. (Malena, I can't wait until you get the package I sent... it is like Christmas... I am all excited for you to open it... I was so anxious that I sent it Express so it would get there by Friday, assuming the border is no problem).
I finally got the other chat system debugged! Test it out here.
Advantages of /chat_2/ over /chat/:
* no login page
* the log tracks conversations that you weren't there for, sorts them by day, etc.
* degrades more gracefully for antiquated browsers
Disadvantages:
* total size of chat window is smaller
* no emoticons or text colors (which, honestly, I see as an advantage)
* no configurable sound event on new message (though I can add this in)
Take a look and tell me which you prefer.
Keep in mind I haven't turned the new one LaMie colors yet, so don't judge it based on that.
Well done Dan. The chat2 is great.
I especially like being able to look back at what has gone on before.
crushed minerals, babee!!
the skin just seems to adore them.
it doesn't take much to get someone addicted to them. i've always had problems with makeup. either it looked really nasty or it broke out my skin.
i just love slathering on all those lovely powders...it makes my skin feel great.
my doc/aesthetician sells the colorescience. that is how i heard of it then bare escentuals. i've been doing the obagi system for the past six months to restructure my skin, now with the minerals, i'm getting all sorts of compliments and it looks so natural.
i sound like i work for the company. heh.
hello my little make-up mavens,
i am notoriously bad at applying it & even worse on recalling that it is on, wiping smudgey all over my face.
but Malena knows her sh#$ about it! amazed by her skill, ii photographed her doing Lolo's makeup,,wow!
pardon the stupid typer, i am just back from the 18 hour day, working fall-out boy show, and otmorrow i turn around and do it again with billy joel...
just wanted to send some love & thanks for sweet kind words..miss you all & see you SOOON after Chicago trip./ loving my bed, meow
ps i like mac's colors, but would love to try magic powder you are all discussing. need..magic...powder.
Danth: The ability to see what's been said before is nice! I can see where those of us who join a chat later can catch up quicker.
Thanks for all your work!
Kitty: Belated congrats on your show! Hope you get enough sleep!
Yay for chatty goodness! Works fine and dandy with my 'puter.
For make-up, I tend to prefer a combo of Shiseido (for basics), Mac (for colour) and Too Faced (for their eyeshadow base and some glittery things), but somehow the majority of what I actually use for daily use (er, on the days I bother) is generic Sephora brand ('tis cheap and works just fine on my skin).
Oh, and Danth - for GothLoli on the cheap, find a shop that carries Leg Avenue. While L.A. may not be exactly what you're looking for, the shops that carry it are also the shops that carry fluffy crinolines for, like, $12, along with incredibly cheap fishnet tops (which you can also make from cheaper fishnet tights - just cut out the crotch and cut off the feet), and clubby jackets and fun flair skirts to go over it all - usually in black and neon colours. Add a few ribbons and giant safety pins of your own and you can throw together an entire gothloli ensemble for about $25 (minus the hair - but I plan on helping you out a little bit there).
(Amazing how close GothLoli comes to generic goth when you start shopping for pieces of it. It's all how you throw it together.)
That's right Mistress Mousey! I come from a very humble upbringing and in high school, I made some great clothes for very little cash. Still have some of them. I also wear fishnets are shirts. Works great. Danth! Black RIT dye takes normal to Goth in minutes. GO TO EBAY! Ohh and good will. Do you sew at all? All my gowns are very glam. I don't look good as a sexy school girl. That's Lorraine. If I wear school girl outfits, it looks like a horror movie. I'll stick with the goth undead vampire look. If I were shorter, I'd wear school girl skirts ever day. That and a nice pair of legs...

Ravyn and Lisa have been very busy. Lisa has some original pieces for sale for prices which are a steal! Ravyn did a mahvelous job on Lisa's redesign and Lisa has some scrumptious new pieces.
And, as technical director and consultant for RavynMultimedia, I got to rip Ravyn's work to shreds and make that bird fly right!
:-)
Vanda
It looks like I'll be at Balticon for part of the weekend -- Friday night to Sunday morning. I will make sure to say "hello" to all the lovely, glam LaMies there! And watch y'all wow the crowds. :-)
I am trying to picture GothLena, your goth loli dopplegangar, and I think I see your meaning.
Off to the thrift stores with me, for sure.
