Back on the Road Again
I am off now for the airport soon, and then when I land off to a gig, which starts 20 minutes after I land, what a rock star! I am playing with the Tim Malloys at Kieran's in Minneapolis tonight, always a fine time, but, somehow, I really don't want to leave today.
It's always hard to leave, as much as I want to get home to my cats and my work and my family, but some leavings are harder than others. The sun is shinning today, my nocturnal creature of a best friend is still sleeping peacefully ( which is going to change shortly, I need a ride here ! ) and there is still so much music to do!
We had a lot of fun, shooting with Kitty, and shopping on Santee Alley, making practice tapes , web confrencing with you all , and cooking strange muffins. It's seems to be strawberry season here and if you drive down the right twisty roads there are people selling strawberries as big as your hand and as sweet as sunshine.
Soon I will the sad-about-leaving feeling will change into the anticipation-of-going-home feeling and I will start to think about how fun playing the club will be, and how nice it will be to get woken by excited cats 15 times during the night and how much I need to get done back in the frozen north....
But that hasn't happened yet and for the moment, at least, I wish it all wasn't Now, tho it is a weird feeling to miss Here and miss There, equaly as much , at the same time.
Enough pre-tea morning rambleing!
What is, is, is the lesson here, and I am off to rock tonight.
After I wake the sleeping dead.
Love and Travel and Missing Friends Everywhere,
Lorraine

i miss you already, lovely peacock princess.
just had my first guitar lesson, i LOVE it!
xoxoxox safe travels, Lolo.
call me soon.
thanks Kitty! You are the best. We loved all the stuff you did for us this week. Lots to talk about. Let's get together soon.
Yeah for the guitar baby!
Safe journey!
Have a fun gig tonight and tomorrow!
Safe travels... I hope the anticipation sweetens the trip.... and cats are always a nice treat at the end of a trip. I am still smiling over last night... it was terrifically fun (as late as I was in joining).
Very cute pic.. of course the hat is beautiful but I think it is the coy look at the camera and the smile that make the shot. (and the green shows up nicely - gothesque as the pic is)
hope you have fun playing tonight, I sure wish I was a local there... it would make me actually go out to music places.
Love the hat - didn't we see it before? Glad your trip was fun and of course have great fun tonight and getting back into the swing of things. Kitty - guitar lessons? how fun! you will be playing at balticon?!?
i always miss the chats. :(
Well, thank the god/dess for relatively convenient air travel and the time available to visit frequently!
I've always felt somewhat drawn to California and I've never been there...the twisty roads and the strawberries...oooh! They just add to the fantasy. I am sure Steinbecks world is mostly gone but I bet you can see hints of it laying underneath modern CA. Steinbeck was the first classical author I read and I used to tell my mother as a young teen about how much I wanted to go to CA and she would always pan the idea. Maybe one day I'll get out that way, but I just love to hear the little tidbits you all share.
Way cool about the guitar, Kitty Cat!
YEAH!!!!! I really love that you put that new pic on the website!!!
nothing wrong with the previous pic but I really like this one as the face of your site. I think it is a great choice.
Wonderful Smiles directed south.
and I love the browser feature. cool idea (sorry, forgot to say that)
Grandme Eva! I love Blue Bayou. I'm a HUGE Linda R. fan. She could REALLY sing. My Husband Miles really likes that song too.
wehoooo! The myspace-tard has figured out the music thing. Now, you can listen to 4, yes 4 LaM Songs. (For those unfortunate dead beats who haven't ordered the CD) hee hee
Smooches baby!
I received my LaM CD as a giftie! :-) Not that I wouldn't have purchased it.
I bought some silica today! Dang, that schtuff is 'spensive. But then again, when things have to be shipped in to a remote third-world country, they tend to be expensive.
My huzbin was telling me about something he heard on NPR... Salvia divinora. This got me searching the web and I found a pretty interesting link. http://www.shamanic-extracts.com/
Gah! I've spent faar too much money today. But the Nymphaea caerulea blue lotus really caught my eye. I've always loved the look of them and I've always felt my ancient past lives are tied to Egypt...as opposed to celt, norse, etc.
Anyway...
Lots of luvvies to ya's.
I just noticed that the song on your "my space" that says Personal Thing is not Personal Thing...unless strange computer/server things are happening.
Glad you made it home safe and sound, Lorraine!
Yippiee!! Yay! Yay!!
I was added to the mailing list!
Thankies thankies!!
Glad you're home in one piece with excited kitties and gig goodness.
So, as a random aside, when's the WEST COAST tour of LaM happening? ;)
Glad you had a safe trip, Ms. Fabulous, and good gigs. :)
Hope you got to sleep all day today. Or, at least, not do much more than eat and lounge around with cats. :)
vandaluna: My husband was telling me about the same piece on NPR yesterday (Saturday)! Thanks for the link. :)
And, for the record, I don't think glucosamine chondroitin is cheap, but I do like the way it works, REGARDLESS of what recent studies have shown.
ariandalen: check out the blue lotus.
I've never used glucosamine/chondroitin, but I know people who swear by it. And no, it isn't cheap! I hate taking too many things, pills-vitamins-herbs-supplements, on a regular basis. I swear by sublingual B-12 and believe it helps ward off the terrible migraines.
Sir Danth_
I'll fix the myspace thing. Thanks for the heads up.
I think that up-heads was courtesy of vandaluna, Lady Lena.
