Winter Again

One of the things my Boss was grumbling about as he left last week was how Spring had come to our part of the world, and how he was going to miss it traveling.

It seems Winter is having the last laugh today. This was what I woke up to this morning and it hasn't stopped all day. They say 12 to 20 inches with more possible, it blows so hard you can hardly see anything. Good thing I had planned on satying in today and a Very good thing it's not Friday, which as you all know, is St Pats Day.

Can't wait to get back to LA! Ah, the sun, the warm.........

Now I am going to start digging out the Prius.

See you in the springtime,

Love and snow,
Lorraine

wow Deva! That photo is hard core. I was freezing the other day when it rained and it was about 50 degrees. Cross country skiing anyone? Snow angels? Hot chocolate? (which for the record, you don't need snow for)
Hang in there Dev. You're coming to sunny cali very soon!

Did you notice that whatever that thing is next to the garbage can looks like a skull? Very cool. Looks like you got more snow that us.

I think the play thingy looks like a skull, too, but only in the small picture. That same cold front, I think, came through here early this morning and brought us a little rain; however, the temps are down about 10 degrees for today and tomorrow bringing it back down to about right for this time of year (low 70s today, high 60s tomorrow for highs). This is good because we just bought vegetables for the garden.

That is some serious snowfall! Xander and Molly would love it.

The leprechauns are going to need wee little snowshoes.

Hey Sherpa! I'm getting you another Nocturna shirt. A pro one this time. (Beat the hell out of it and it will still look snazzy!)

I suspected that you were soon to be doomed with blizzardy insanity when it snowed out here the other day. I'm with Malena - let's bust out the Hot Chocolate!!!

Indeed a hot chocolate evening if I ever saw one! Windy and temp is dropping rapidly here and I really stoked up the woodstove cuz the house is drafty. What alot of snow you got! Thankfully you'll be leaving it soon, and hopefully the weather will improve by St. Pat's day. aaah warmth, I cannot wait for sun and spring (vegetables, arian?, I am jealous, and of Ravyn as well!)

I too am exceedingly jealous of the lovely white wonderland you get to live in for a short spring moment. Amazingly after a winter of rain (with the briefest of dustings once in October) I headed home (to my parent's home) to Vancouver Island a few weekends back and got caught in a lovely blizzard in the midst of my 'fairy' ride... what a wonderful time, with an evening of crystal flakes drifting softly downwards in the boony woods.

Now back in the city and we have gotten even more snow recently, so that I got to walk to work past pink cherry trees in a soft dawn snowstorm. It was lovely. As hard as the snow was on my roses I loved every frozen moment. Even waking at 3am and creeping up to the window just to see if maybe it was snowing.... and to see that indeed it was!! how splendid. simly superbly fun.

and then the sun melts most of the exposed snow off by late afternoon, leaving triangles of shadow-ice, crunchy and delicate.

Wow you really got slammed! We just had rain, rain, and more rain here in Indiana. (And boy am I thankful it wasn't snow.)
It's a good thing you didn't have to be anywhere, with the poor Prius all buried like that.

Just a few days until you'll be in sunny California, while the boss will be in Scotland..where it's supposed to snow. *lol*

I've been hearing about all the tornados caused by this storm system. The cold northern air hit the warm southern air and WHAM! Amazingly magical!

Yeah, and the Ravyn actually gets a cell phone signal in Cancun! We always chat on my drive home from work. When she's not around I miss her terribly! ::snicker:: but I can find evil consolation in knowing she is barraged by spring breakers!!

ivenotime: Yes, veggies. A few herbs, too. Before the front came through, our high temps were 80-84, and 100 miles south of us it was in the low-mid 90s.

Just to put world geography in perspective: Great Britain, Scotland and Ireland are further north than any of the continental USA; Dallas, TX sits on the same latitude as Jerusalem, Israel; I live about halfway between Dallas and Austin, about 20 miles south of Waco.

oh and it is so cold wet and nasty here today, warmth, veggies and blossoms.....spring is very slow to arrive on the Lake Michigan sided of the state due to lake effect. The grey weather is enough to drive you mad I say, MAD (tho we thankfully only got an inch, not a foot of snow)! Texas is sounding mighty good!

I've experienced thunder snow. The spring (March) before I moved down here to hell's evil twin of a city, the DC area had over three feet of snow complete with thunder and lightening.

I am enjoying temps in the mid-70s. The azaleas are in full bloom, the wisteria is out and gorgeous. The wild climbing roses are blooming. I even have a gerber daisy blooming!

lol... I love reading this blog... and just before I blogged in again this time as I walked home from work in a lovely drizzle past the blooming cherry trees, hyacinths, daffodils, snow drops and more, the weather decided to do a bit of playing... in a 10 minute walk it went from drizzle to rain to hailing snow-rain to sunshine complete with a full arc-en-ciel... lovely Iris dancing down to earth ... no pots of gold though (as far as I know).... and I come home to find a gift, a cherry blossom bough and a nice note, from my landlord.

btw... I have never seen Thundersnow... but I bet it would be very cool.

And would you believe there's more snow on the way? Late Wednesday into Thursday they just said... spiffing. In the way that isn't at all.

And anyone going out on St. Pat's, please set your DVRs or VCRs for SciFi Channel at 9pm Eastern/8pm Central for the Doctor Who premiere. :)

At 6:47 AM , Blogger K said...

Doctor Who premiere? The new series? Or has the previous one not been previously shown in America?

(Can you tell I totally can't wait for it to start again?)

It has been snowing in Scotland - quite a lot, for us. The ski resorts were open. Our poor crocuses were buried, although they don't seem to mind. But it's all been gone for a couple of days here. On the other hand, it certainly feels cold enough today, and there's that wintery, metallic feeling in the air...

It was never as snowy as your picture though. I think I've known it be that snowy here once, ever.

k: "Dr. Who" starring David Tennant hasn't been shown in the US. It starts Friday night on Sci Fi, which is only for cable or satellite users. Hopefully, it will help make the SIX MONTH WAIT for season three of "Battlestar Galactica" go by a little easier.

Sorry for yelling.

Generally, i love winter. i used to ski before i broke my leg (i hope to try going back to the slopes next season though).

But, i have to say, i tried snorkeling for the first time in Cancun today, and the weather was mild, the water was warm, and so clear! There were fish everywhere. So i don't miss winter right now!

Keep warm everyone :-D

ohhhh... snorkling with fishies in warm water sounds wonderful... thanks for writing about it... it was lovely to read, you lucky soul. I'm happy for you.

btw... hehe... have we broken the record for # of comments yet?

At 12:17 AM , Blogger Malena said...

Yes we have broken the record! Yeah for us LaMies. Tropical Fish? Ravyn, I am sooo jealous. It reminds me of when I was in Cancun snorkeling and saw a 6 ft.+ baracuda. Ahhhh! Can you say, FREAKOUT? I hope you are having a great time there.

BUT THE SERIES WITH DAVID TENNANT HASN'T EVEN BEEN SHOWN IN THE UK YET! (Apart from the Christmas special. Do I win the shouting contest?)

My dad knows his dad. Just saying. (Scotland is small.)
