My Taxes Are Done!

My taxes are done! My taxes are done! Oh hurrah and celebrations! I have no idea WHY they are so very traumatic for me, it's not like they are hard, I take my bits to Tom the Tax Man and he does some things on a computer and the whole thing takes maybe 30 minutes and then I am out of there, but I truly dread tax time every year.

This is a little picture of how I feel after doing taxes, hee-hee, tho it is actually a picture our Malena took of my last time I visited, since I fall asleep about 8 hours before SHE is ready to retire, tho women can sew an entire dress whilst I snore away, THIS is the real me folks! Tho most days my hair isn't so good, gods I am funny after taxes!

Thanks everyone who came down to the club last night, it was really cool of you to be there, I know it's out of the way, and uh, strange and not one of our usual haunts, but Bedlam truly did appreciate it. I hope it works out for them , I'd love to come back again.

Paul and I have been MOVED this weekend, we are now playing at the Liffy in St Paul, from 9-1 , we will not be at Charlies, sadly. I am not sure WHY we have been moved, but the Liffy will be fun too, hope to see you there!

Ten more days and then I get some time again for things like blogging and chatting and e-mails that don't include the sentence " No, I am sorry he can't" . LA , I am coming back! Tho Malena and I aren't much for sitting around eating bon-bons ( WHO does that??? Is that a life I missed somehow? And just what IS a Bon-bon??? ) and we have lots of fun planned, and surely there will be time for a chat in our new chat room.

Death , Love and Taxes,
Lorraine

Taxes!!!! Oy!!! (picture me doing the home alone face) I gotta get that done... I did it myself last year (after not ever having touched a single tax form before in my life) and was terribly impressed with my return (I figured since I handle the accounting for my work...maybe I should be able to handle taxes for lil ole me) but I admit... NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!! ... but... maybe tomorrow... I am busy growing older today.

Love the picture Lorraine... it is very tax inspiring... it is what I want to do everytime I think about taxes...sleep.

Would you believe that I just sent ours off earlier today? My husband finally got around to doing them. He puts it off every year. :P

Glad it was a good night with Bedlam! I have to admit that I'm curious, is Folk Underground no more? Something in the post last post makes me wonder.

(_)> Here's to getting a breather, even if it's not until next week!

To you all, from just a small Englishman. Going to the accountant is like going to the dentist. You know its going to hurt before you get there, despite the length of time you spend there you will always get stung (metaphorically and finacially). Despite what you say this financial year to decrease the anguish next year, there is a possibility the same will happen next year. Enjoy the Good Friday rush of hot cross buns and sugar rushes from Chocolate eggs, and thanks for producing a great blog to read.
From England, Happy Easter

That is such an adorable picture, Lo!

I hated taxes until I could do them online. Now I just punch in my numbers and VOILA! refund deposited automagically.

Mal, is your chat box Win or Mac? I have some possible new chat software for you that would allow your feed to be displayed within the chat page.

What is a bon bon?

Yummy candy thingies that also come in chocolate . I'm not aware of any mango bon bons... at least edible ones... though they have fizzy ones for the bath

Taxes? Those are the things where someone else does a bunch of paperwork and then points at a line on a page and I sign it, right?

What an adorable pic! You look like a little elfling.

bon-bon, pronounced bau-bau from the French meaning "good-good". And yes, the bon-bon eaters do exist. You've been spared. Care to take a vacation on the redneck riviera (the pet name for Panama City Beach)? You will see them by the droves at the Wal-Mart buying more bon-bons...you can recognize them because they all have pry marks on their derriers from having to get up off their respective couches and leave their trailers. They are also b^%ching b/c the welfare doesn't cover the purchase of their cigarettes.

Heee!! Taxes!! I can't wait to get all my tax forms. I plug all the info into that free proggie they give you from the IRS (well, this year, last year it was TurboTax) and WHAM! Hopefully it is done before the end of Jan. I was like that with papers and projects for school too. I get everything done then sit there an look bored as I watch everyone else struggle. Problem is, it bites me back when I don't have friends to play with because they are all doing their work.
The only problem comes when I have to pay. Unbelievable, with only one deduction being claimed at all for withholding purposes, I had to pay last year! This year we claimed ZERO and got a couple dollars back.

Hehehe you do look like an elf... trust me, that is meant as a compliment!! I do especially like the hair.

So, is a bon ton the same as a bon bon? ... when I was young I named my rabbits Babbs and Bonbon. Babbs was for the cartoon rabbit and Bonbon was because - for some inexplicable reason - I wanted it to rhyme with Sandy (Sandra is my mom's name) and I wanted it to alliterate, so I chose Bonbon since it meant candy and that rhymed with sandy?!?!?!!? I am still not quite sure of my logic. :-)

speaking of bonbons .. and easter... today for easter my boss gave me (and all the other employees) a lovely personalized chocolate egg bon bon from a store called "Notte's Bon Ton Pastry & Confectionary"... sigh there goes the 'eat good' will power. (still L, the tales of your grueling trainer sessions are very motivating and inspire me).

Not to mention the rest of the b-day cake, flowers, card and $ gift.... $ to enjoy myself at Balticon!!! Yeah!!! what a great boss... (no privia though.. hehehe.. but I don't need it, I walk to work)

I'm definately picking up some of those mentioned hair thingys!!! Sounds like super-fun...

speaking of Balticon... anyone need a roomy for Sunday night? I am still in need of a place. Help please.

Best wishes for the season of spring and the Full Moon tonight.

hi guys -

i just want to remind everyone that the main hotel and the overflow hotel for Balticon are booked solid. We have listed some nearby hotels on the web site, and on the Balticon blog. i'm trying to steer folks in search of a room, or willing to share a room, to the Balticon Blog, so if you know anyone willing to share a room please send them there.

Okay, breaktime's over......

Rubius, you may crash with my and my spawn on Sunday night. I forsee no problem with that. :-)

bon is the masculine form of good. ton is the masculine form of your.
So I would guess it literally means it is "your good", but I think I would translate it something like "a goodie for you" or "your goodie".

The feminine? bonne-tonne? pronounced bawn-tawn, as opposed to bau-bau or bau-tau.

Not that I remember much of it, but in my "French in translation" course we translated Sartre's "No Exit" from the French, as well as articles from "Le Monde" on a regular basis. That was a fun class. Wonderful cheeses and wines at the end of the semester. It was there I gained my love of cherry gourmandise and, you know, I can only find the nut flavor. bleh!

Re-fund? What is this re-fund you speak of, and what does it have to do with taxes?

Actually, until last week, that was sort of a mantra around this house. This year, for the first time, it made sense to file married/jointly - and because I was unemployed all year, California actually (gasp) gave us some of our money back. I thought the boy and I were going to have heart attacks - what saved us was our confusion. We must have gone over the forms and figures 8 times before we (skeptically) accepted it. And we still didn't really buy it until we got a deposit into our account. I'm not sure I believe it yet. At least Federal didn't let us down. The fee was smaller than anticipated, but it was a fee.

And before I forget, just in time to ruin everyone's diets (also known as Easter). Enjoy.

Rubius...
I'm worse than I used to be at responding to email, but it's worth a try. :-)

Refund? Well, last year I had to pay over 1k. But people I know who make more than me who are married with one child GET MONEY BACK! I have a mortgage, I have a dependent. I don't get it.

Mmm...bonbons. I made truffles and used really nice cognac in them...Ravyn almost got drunk! ::snicker:: Oooh, but they were good!

Children are a tax refund goldmine. I always get a return, and this year it was... bizarrely large. The current tax system needs to be scrapped for a flat tax.

Oh hell yeah Elf is better.
Elves are cute, as you are.
Hobbits have hairy toes!
EEEK!

I don't know.....
On one hand, you've been travelling too much to be a hobbit. Bilbo was the exception, not the rule, and Frodo didn't really have much choice.

On the other hand, it was a _hobbit_ that saved Middle Earth. The elves said, "Nope, not our fight. Our time has passed. See ya later." And their magic was(is?) more towards growing things.

Just a little perspective. ;)
