Leprechauns and Such

Ye gads what a week, I have missed you all! I wish I had some fine and interesting tales of magic and wonder for you, but it's all been work , work, work and gigs on top of that. Paul and I have been having a fine time playing at Charlie's Pub. Not sure HOW it happened, but currently our name seems to be " Living on the Edge With the Leprechauns" Hmmm, you give and audience enough whiskey and just see what they come up with....

I actually kind of like it. That or " The Leprechaun Band" They are both just silly enough, we didn't want anything stupid , like the over the top Celtic-new age thing, no Comac's Dream or Morrigan Fey or, gads, people were coming up with lots of weirder, playing in a pub duo is a lot of fun, and that's what it ought to be, one can't take it too seriously. I think we are doing a full on live CD this summer as well, which we are going to call, in yet another creative whimsical moment " Live at Charlie's "

( oh, and in response to Malena's comment about the Unicorn Song, of course I will play it for the Children's Time at Balti-con, but in a pub it is going to COST you! I have my pride.... )

Malena and Kitty I see have been the merch Queens these days! And the chat room, as soon as I figure that out , that will be some fun. I can't wait to do another big chat with Malena and I on the webcams. I think I am back out there after the 22nd.

Someone had asked about making Indian food faster, and I have a couple of tips. Buy a copy of " Indian restaurant Cooking at Home " they have a recipe for Curry Sauce where you make a huge pot of the basic sauce and then freeze it on one cup portions, it can they be used for many different things, tho they all end up tasting differently, it's easy tho just to grab a bag out of the freezer and cook with that. The other tip is make a lot. It really doesn't take so very long, and it tends to be better the next day.

On the make-up talks I don't have much, hee-hee, that's Malena's area. She did get me to start wearing the Bare Essensials things, which I do for gigs, but I can't woo-woo like she can! Anytime you see a really great photo of me wearing Stunning make-up, that would be her magic. I would say too if I was six foot tall and could I would be wearing the long gowns and glamorous things that she does and perhaps not the little school girl skirts, tho I do like them, just got a great grey plaid one with skulls on it. I am short. Short legs. ( and I like ponytails, says rainbow bright! )

Ok, that's it for this working girl, way to much to do here in the North today. My seeds came from Tomato Bob's. ( best heirloom seeds going, google them for the website ) and I am going to plant the tomatoes of Doom today . Paul and I are at Charlie's this weekend , if you are in town, and next Wednesday , I am at a new Pub in St Paul with Bedlam, more info on that as soon as Big Sexy gets it to me!

Love , Leprechauns and tomatoes,
Lorraine

We missed you too! I'm glad to hear that you're having fun playing as a pub duo.

Wow! You've been having waaay too much fun! :-)

Tomatos? Sheesh! I can grow an orchid, but I've never had any luck with tomatos. Me thinks me isn't on the ball enough with the water.

I happened to notice my rosemary plant and that thing has gotten HUGE!! It surely will end up in many dishes!!

Gourds...need to plant gourds.

Would they be the provider of the seeds that sprouted the demonic tomato last year?

And yay for silly gigs! :)

black thumb. nuff said. Yes we missed you! glad you are back and having fun with your gigs! I will look up the indian cookbook - girls will be back from college soon, so we will be doing more cooking, and curry is a favorite, and freezing is a good thing. Your bands need to travel! West Michigan is nice! Really!

I agree with Dan; you were missed, too! Though Malena has been doing her best, what with showing us Gothloli pictures and links. ;) And thanks for the Indian food book and tip. :)

We bought seedlings for tomatos, peppers, cucumbers, and yellow squash 2-3 weeks ago and got them planted - right before a freeze, though it wasn't a hard freeze. Most of the plants made it, but we did lose a few. Now I just hope the tomatos bloom before we get into the 90s so they'll pollinate. The corn, pumpkins, and cantaloupes we've started from seed and are about ready to be put in the garden. We just planted a bunch of sunflower and moonflower seeds this past weekend, though I need to buy more sunflower seeds. It'll be a couple of weeks before they come up. My miniature rose that I've had for two years is blooming! It didn't last year. The tree rose we put in my herb garden is blooming, too, and was visited by a butterfly earlier today.
Okay, I think I've rattled on enough.

You most certainly were missed.

the great grey skull schoolgirl skirt sounds glorious

I have been so neglectful about my seeds and bulbs.. I have had them for quite a while and haven't managed to plant them yet... it is hard enough keeping my indoor jungle alive. and my cacti seem to be melting... melting....But my super green thumb mother is coming over tomorrow so maybe it will get some much needed help.

I hope your pub-playing gets broadcast on the internet again. I would love to hear it... and unfortunately I missed the last one. (the only time I have heard of it happening)... so go rainbow bright go!!!

Nothin' wrong with amateur video footage at BaltiCon. I'll take what I can get. (Can you tell I really want to be there? Seriously, throw me a bone - everyone who can take photos and video, go crazy!)

And the lavender plant I thought was pretty much dead and gone is actually starting to sprout fresh green leaves again. Wheee!

FabLo - I think you just FEEL dead. If you're actually posting while dead, well, I lose a bet with a friend about the physical abilities of dead entities. ;)

Lorraine, we will have tech at Balticon.... just let me know if you want audio only or video and we'll see what we can come up with.....

Also, i owe you more emails, look for them over the next day or so :-)

Mousey, amateur video is also a great idea, i'll see what i can arrange.

Mistress Mousey isn't the only one who would like audio/video from Balticon! :) And cute icon!

Hey, FabLo, what about naming your live album with Paul "Living on the Edge with the Leprechauns" by The Leprechaun Band? You could always subtitle it "Live at Charlie's." "Living on the Edge....." just seems like an apt title for a live album, but that just may be me. :)

Hee, hee, hee, hee, hee

I like "LepreCON Artists."

And yes, yes, he should post his own comments. ;)

Wow mousey! Love the hair!!!
Nice icon.

Ravyn? Did you say Balticon Tech? ::snicker::

I dreamed of Lorraine and Malena last night...and we were all sort of at Balticon (odd place, since I've never been to the Hunt Valley locale, only Inner Harbour). Lorraine was exhausted and I tried to offer her some cheese cake balls covered in chocolate that I had made and she told me she only ate the kind of cheese cake that is shaped something like a Crown Royal bottle.

Oh man. I haven't had time to go thrift store shopping yet, but I made some purchases. I only meant to buy some black & white striped tights, so that I wouldn't have to worry about my legs, but then I saw this top and it was a complete impulse buy. I'm not sure how loli it is, though it has some white lace on it and it's gothy so I think it's in the right vein.

Now I need a skirt. I'm thinking black, lacey, and knee length with whatever that tulle thing is you wear under a skirt to add volume -- a crinoline?

Some of you will be getting pictures of the stuff I got today to better advise me as to whether I'm going in the right direction.

At 3:35 PM , Blogger Rubius said...

Sounds lovely Dan,... I am sure it will be splendid!!

At 4:57 PM , Blogger Dan Guy said...

Oh, and did I mention it has no sleeves and may be a little low-cut, so I'd need to shave my arms and chest? Not that Lori would mind. I spent so long trying to grow chest hair in my youth; it always feels weird to shave it off.

I haven't even tried it on. It may be too small, despite being an XL. This womens sizes stuff has no connection to reality.

I found the headdress that I want, and it's cheap! Now I just need to get boots. I think.

At 7:45 PM , Blogger Dan Guy said...

It fits! And it's not so low that I have to shave my chest, just trim it down a bit at the top.

At 8:42 PM , Blogger vandaluna said...

Women's sizes!
Are they random or what?
And we are all shaped so differently!
Makes me crazy.

But it's a gorgeous nice with a cool wind blowing the stars around the moon...who needs clothes? Citronella is all I need! Perfect temps.

I forgot to say... Go FabLo Go!!! No trainer could kill you... I have the utmost confidence in you...look at the wonders you manage to accomplish every day... including marathon pub-playing!!

and squeaks... love the pic, very kawai

Vandaluna, what a beautiful night image... wafts me away from the rain outside.

and I like "LepreCon-Artists" too.

Rubius: Hee...yeah...sometimes I lay out on the pool deck with the whole sky above me (getting my moon tan)and think, "why would I ever want to go inside?". Then the mosquitos begin to drain me of blood, and I'm quite allergic to the little beasts.

Hey Danth...skirt...I notice Mistress Mousey has some gahgeous skirts on her website! Might give you some ideas. :-)

At 11:46 AM , Blogger mistress mousey said...

Danth - sent you an email wrt skirtage (wouldn't you know it, I've got stuff in my closet that I can loan you!).

FabLo - no worries about me getting on a plane any time soon. I try to avoid them in general (yes, I'm one of *those* flyers) and there's no way I'm climbing aboard when *that* full o' baby. Actually, after the childbirth class I went to yesterday, I think I'll be feeling too sick with that "OMFG! WHAT AM I DOING!!!!" feeling to leave the house at all for the next year. Nothin' like a baby nurse to freak you out of wanting to deliver.

And I don't think of Malena so much as dead as I think of her as UN-dead. So I can totally believe she's posting. It's the total deadness that makes me lose the bet. Perhaps you're only *mostly* dead? :P

LepreCon? Ouch. And yet, I like it. Does that make me mental?

Women's sizes have never made any sense... ever.

Another vote here for "LepreCon-Artists".

Today I bought boots, ordered my headdress, and commisioned a Mistess Mousey original skirt! My costume is coming together.

Lepre-con artists - another vote here! Dan, you must post pics, this sounds great! women's clothing sizes? In my closet I have 4 pairs of jeans which fit all pretty much the same, and each is a different size - random indeed (and frustrating too)

i just looked at the calendar, and I had no idea balticon was coming up so fast - course i didn't realize it was easter next weekend either, and i am hosting....

At 10:40 PM , Blogger Fabulous Lorraine said...

Yes, Women's clothing is possessed! I have 4,6,8,10,12 and they all fit. Hmmm. Danth, I'll bring you some ready to wear goth clothes if you need it. Let me know honey!
You can always wear a LaM t-shirt. They are going to be cool baby!

At 5:19 AM , Blogger vandaluna said...

Oh, yeah, lepre-con-artists! Great name.

Just as long as it isn't leper-con-artists. ;-)

leper-con.... groan.... giggle

At 11:15 AM , Blogger Dan Guy said...

I think I'm pretty well set for goth loli goodness, assuming the offer still stands to help me with makeup, Malena!

I have to figure out what to do about my arms; I'll probably have to shave them, pits and all. That or some sort of coat/wrap/long-sleeved goth undershirt, all of which may be too hot.

At 1:24 PM , Blogger ivenotime said...

leper-con? ewwwwww....

At 1:31 PM , Blogger mistress mousey said...

Fishnet shirts *usually* aren't too hot...

At 2:29 PM , Blogger ravyn said...

okay speaking of lepre-con....

There happens to be a SF/F convention by that name: LepreCon

And..... our own Lisa Snellings-Clark will be there! i WISH i could go, however, i'm pretty sure i'm going to be in the medium stages of panic over Balticon, since that will be.... YIKES just 20 days after that!

Okay, deep, cleansing breath...... now back to it!

At 5:16 PM , Blogger Dan Guy said...

A fishnet stocking shirt was my first thought! Will that hide my fair-haired hairy arms, though, or would that look silly?

At 5:36 PM , Blogger Rubius said...

you will just have to try them on and see for yourself!!! I think the outfit sounds GothLovely.

At 8:56 PM , Blogger Fabulous Lorraine said...

Danth- Buy some LACE hose. Cut a hole in the crotch and the feet. Wala! A perfect shirt to cover your arms.
LOVE IT!
