Happy Birthday to My Boss

I want to send out a Happy Birthday to my Boss, as it is his Birthday today. Ok, so technically it was yesterday, but things got busy ( a not un-commen thing for a Personal Assistant ) and then I had a gig tonight , so I am only now getting around to writing this. Post gig, so it will be a sleepy post...

Went into work today to find mountains of mail, and a Dog who told me he had been horridly neglected, fed nothing and NO ONE had taken him for a walk the entire time I had been away.

Hmmm.....

As the dog sitter is a lovely women who adores him and likes nothing better than taking long walks and runs in the woods, I suspect he was just trying to make me feel guilty.

Or perhaps he is covering the fact that he didn't get my Boss anything for his Birthday...I did, but as Boss will not be home for some days, I can't tell you what.

I wish I had words to say the perfect Birthday Wish for my Boss, and say how very much I do love being his assistant, and how very much I do admire him, both as an artist and a person but tonight the words aren't there. And it would be hard anyway. And he is far away.

( just got a text from Malena who says " if you are going to blog a B'day for yr Boss, send him my B'day greetings ", is this women psychic or WHAT ??? )

I will say this, strike or no strike, HE will be getting tea.

Anytime , anywhere.

Happy Birthday Neil!

Love and Birthdays,
Lorraine

I am sure the tea will be good news.

Poor Dog. He just can't get enough walkies. And he needs to go so he can bring in a nice pheasant, squirrel or skunk back as a birthday gift for the man who saved his life.

Uggh. Skunk. If we can teach him one more important thing that Do Not Chase Cats and Kill Them, it will be LEAVE THE SKUNKS ALONE.

Not fun, that bath.....Been there, done that.

yah, a very Happy Bee-day to Neil,
a birthday haiku from Kitty:

mighty boss of ours
in his hand, ink and paper
create sure magic.

was so great to see Quiche & Malena, if i only i can get it together to do a blog about premiere of Beowulf...will do soon. I fly tomorrow...
the SOny studio gig was a loooooong one, and the studio boys told me our stage is the one that is on top of the bricked-over Yellow Brick road...!!!

It was a late night, the gig was late AND far away, but it still takes me forever when I get home to come down enough to sleep...

Kitty the road is a hard and brutal place, we will be thinking of you, drop in when you can. I wish we could hire you, Paul and Lorraine, without Roadies, can take down a PA in 15 minutes..

Cabal wears an orange Super Hero Cape for hunting season, so if he takes off it is hoped he will not be mistaken for a deer...

Ha, the wonders of adrenaline! Betwen the gig and the stress from driving late, you get plenty.
I have the same when I come back from a mission. No matter how late I arrive home, it is still a couple hours before I can calm down. And then I deflate like an old soufflé and pass out.

*Goes off to see if there is a new post at Paul&Lorraine*

Lorraine: You're classic! You made me smile! I think Cabal just missed you! Do you know if you'll be asked to go on strike? Some theaters on Broadway are dark because the stage hand union has decided to back the writers. Still, it's lovely that you will still be brewing the Boss his tea! You're a super woman! How was the gig?

Happy Birthday to Mr. Gaiman!
I will miss you Kitty, so much!
I missed Lorraine before she left! It is always too short of a time together. Better a little than none, and we will beg her back in January

PA's have no union and so don't strike. The Broadway strike has nothing to do with the writers strike.

I will be coming back in January! And you so don't have to beg. Kitty is coming here in January and has said she will cover for me if need be. We need to be together and start work on this new CD.

The working title is " Lorraine a' Malena , No One Here Gets Out Alive, Volume 1 " We are going to kill someone in every song!

( which is less depressing than one might imagine, come see a Paul and Lorraine show sometime, we kill people constantly! )

Spacelaw, you intrigue me, you write like a pro and now speak of Missions....

Am dead today, going back to my couch and kitties....

From his blog, sounds like your Boss had a pretty good birthday, Ms. Fabulous. :)

I think Cabal looks handsome in his cape. I can imagine you wearing a nice safety orange vest while walking Cabal in the woods; however, I just can't see your Boss in one. I have a friend in northeast Texas where the local ranchers paint "COW" in safety orange on each of their cows during deer season. Perhaps the word "BOSS" across the front and back of your Boss in safety orange tape letters? ;)

Well yes: there is a job in my life, dear. And it is probably the reason why, after 10 or more hours spent in the office (or the odd mission), I NEED to write.
Surprised? There are so many of us maniacs out there...

Aww I think Dog just missed you..after all you were gone "forever." ("Forever being any increment of time other than "right now" since these are the only 2 concepts of time any dog has;)

And of course a belated Happy Birthday to your Boss.:)

Brilliant idea about the vest. Angels should wear some too.

I just saw a VERY nice review of Beowulf on Yahoo News and my favourite line in it is the following:
"There are two sets of heroes here. One is the writing team of author/graphic novelist Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary."

My friend and I were recently discussing about the prevalence of technology in our day to day lives. Reading this post makes me think back to that discussion we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as technology further advances, the possibility of transferring our brains onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's a fantasy that I daydream about all the time.
