This is so cool. Let's see if I can make it work ...
This is awesome!!!!
I miss you guys, this makes me want to come and see you that much more!
-Mark
ha! new post.
clickity
FabLo, I was looking through Irish song lyrics to figure out what to request and I ran across this.
I have never heard this song so it may suck, but you should check it out:

Who's here?
Hi, Mark!
::sniff::
::SSSNNNIIIIFFFFF::
Yep. SPICY!
yeah!!! That was a lovely show. Thank you so much Lorraine and Paul and Dr Wicked. That rocked on so many levels. It made what was looking like a lonely, kinda creepy first night alone in the new place type of night into a dancing laughing tear inducing party extravaganza. Thanks for sharing your night with us.
Here we are.....drinks in hand for those of us who drink....still open bar at my house!
Siri, what did you want to know about the Firefly theme?
Wow that was fun!
hugs Rubius, hands her a beverage of choice...
oh wow the link was awesome. so much fun typing and listening in real time
What is it from? Why do we want to hear it? What is the arrgh at the end about.
It's odd not to have the music in the background now!
WOOOOT!!! That was fun! Fiends Unite! We can rule the planet at this rate. Minions all around!
And Hi Mark! Be sure to check the clicky box, so you'll know when there are more comments.
yah, it was like being in the pub....listening to music and sort of having a conversation at the same time... ;)_
Thanks Lys!! *takes a slug of water* that was good.
Welcome all delurkers-come-Fiends. This is a fun and weird and random and friendly and creative place.
Hee, hee. They're on me!
aww. off-line. i missed it :(
The minions, I meant.
That was so much fun. Thank you, Dr. Wicked, for making it accessible for us far-flung fiends! :-) Wow, what a wonderful way to pull out of a difficult evening... Thank you, everyone!! ESPECIALLY MS. FABLO! It was lovely, and you are amazingly talented. Really lovely playing, Q.
Dr.W said this was just a test run for St Pats, which will be much better. We will be prepared. Sporks and all.
bet it was quite cool! welcome all new delurkers - may i introduce ariandalen, she will make you feel quite at home.....
that was soo cool. daughter is tugging at my sleeve to watch the next movie. ck you cats later!
Siri and Donielle, thanks for your FB comments....I immediately stopped mucking around and came over here!
"Firefly" was a wonderful space western television show written by Joss Whedon. It lasted less than a full season because Fox network are idiots. It is one of the best shows ever. See if you can rent, or borrow, the DVDs of the season. The movie "Serenity" is a follow up of the series. The "Grrr. Aarrggg." is the sign off of Joss' production company, the name of which has slipped my mind though it starts with Alien. Joss also did "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel." More recently he did "Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog" on the web, available on DVD and Itunes.
There was also talk of doing it again in February at the 14/15th gig.
By the Bye - February 15th is Lorraine's birthday.
It was better than being in a pub for me... cause I don't usually hang in pubs... except for when I have the chance to see Lorraine... so it was like not having to be in a pub but having all the benefits of a live performance including interaction with the band... without the crowd noise... AND being able to chat intimately with 20 of my like minded friends AND sing loudly (and badly) along AND dance like and idiot without being awkward in public... while listening to GREAT music... it was better than great, it was fantabuloso. I love it. Mucho thanks to Dr Wicked.
Hey, Sue, Dr. Wicked said there would be more notice for the next time, so we will have even more of us watching and chatting live. It was fun and you being there would have made it even more so!
Quiche--when you get back to these and read them: the Tea and Autopsy song? Blame that on me...don't know what I was thinking.....
I meant Autopsy of Our Love....but there is a cool Tea song on the same album, right? Those are packed w/my deployment stuff, so I haven't listened to them in a while (all the other Fiends can feel free to beat me up now....)
and the comments seem to be blazing along tonight too.
unless of course I manage to kill the thread with such an unlucky statement as that
Why, Lys? I'm sure you're doing a good enough job all by yourself.
SO STOP IT!
I wish I could stay around until Quiche gets back but I must be off to bed.
Have fun! Save some spicy brains for me...
*blazes* and ponders what to make for dinner
Thanks, Ariandalen - I think I have heard about that before, especially the Fox as Idiots part.
Now, I must to bed. Have to be at the gym at 8AM, and then am stripping wallpaper in the kitchen. In the prep work, I managed to make my phone not work, so there will be extra effort to get that fixed. Thank goodness for my red dial phone with a cord.
Get home Safely, Lorraine!
Night, Fiendom!
Sue, go to Ustreams.tv and sign up before the next show so you don't miss any of it.
years ago, on Lorraine's birthday late at night (full moon I think) out in Arizona (AZ Ren Faire) she and I fiddled and danced across the desert...(guess who fiddled...wasn't me :))
Following Fairy trails? No, making our own--but keeping a wary eye on the pathways and riverlets around us!
ariandalen--thanks! It *was* funny, though, wasn't it? :)
Okay, enough reminiscing...but her birthdays, I think, have even more of that unique and fabulous Lorraine aura woven through them....
"And Oooo - I'm dyin'; and Oooo, I'm nearly dead." Something something something, "so why'd you put the poison in my tea?"
"Why'd you want to ruin a good Earl Grey?"
I can't remember the name of it, Lys, but I know Himself wrote it.
Night, Siri!
Night, Gayle!
Postmortem of Our Love.....that's the other one.
"I'm conducting a postmortem of our love"
Goodnight all! The spouse is making "it's time to go to sleep" noises. He is so strict!
Fun! Skimmed over comments while nibbling garlic pepper noodles.....will read more closely later :)
what Rubius said about pubbing and this show, seconded....
SIRI!! hugs and kisses, my dear...you've got them. Ahem, weren't they both written by Neil? Or Emma?......heremm......
I'm not sure I'll still be here by the time Ms. Fabulous gets home, but I'll say this:
Thank you!
Thank You!
THANK YOU!
To Ms. Fabulous and Dr. Paul for a wonderful surprise, and to Dr. Wicked for making it happen!
I'm one happy fiend! ::sigh::
Having said that, don't you think that there should be a song called "Tea and Autopsy"
It scans so nicely....I can just see Gil Grissom and crew singing it as they go about their work... :)
Lys, I think they were both Neil written, hence the clever turn of phrase. They are both on the Flash Girls album which is at work, so I can't bring up the lyrics. Or is it in the car? Either way, it's not here, and I REALLY have to go to bed now.....
"Postmortem of Our Love" was written by Boss, as well as "Personal Thing."
My problem requesting anything is that I haven't gotten around to getting anything beyond LaM's "Mirror, Mirror."
Puts a different spin on that "dance like nobody's watching" thing, doesn't it?
It does at that. ;)
earnan/Mark--saw your LJ comments....really really miss the Blue Nile. Glad to here it is still there!
It does Lys, it does... but I usually don't care... might even dance on the side of the road some days... few, rare days... but I have.
Terribly sorry, I'm being rude. Night night and sleep well to all those bedward bound Fiends.
So nice we had this time....together!
sleep well Lys
and any bed-bound fiends...
hmmm that sounds naughty... oh well
this is a naughty place :)
i'm re-reading wicked, and i'm still fining it tiresome. i liked the play, i like the idea of wicked, i just find his writing style so unsympathetic. not quite the right word...
Vampi...if you are still here....wanted to send my kudos to your Boy for his upcoming movie. If you set up a FB page/invite, I'll sign up!
and I would say don't hesitate to blow horns regarding such events. You have every reason to be proud.
oh bummer. I've been out all afternoon and missed the webcast *sob*
lys thanks :) page invite?
and i'm drinking wine from a plastic cup. i am such a high class broad.
It's okay, Sally. I missed the first set.
Dr. Wicked, and Ms. Fabulous, will give us more of a warning before the next one.
V--thank you for saying that! My friends here in Socorro (new friends, still feeling our way) nearly disowned me for my criticism of the book. Just doesn't work for me....nor "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" either.
Sally--hugs! I missed most of it myself (though heard enough to put me in a rather huggy mood, however ;)
But as they say, there will be more warning next time.
V--you know how little boxes pop up from various friends asking you to join this cause or sign that petition? I sent out an invite to Ada Lovelace day, for example.
Even just a page for the movie (hey, those Disney folks should be all oer it!)
I can't BELIEVE there was streaming on a night I'm actually out and on west coast time!!!!!
Fiends, I've been out with one of my very dear mostly Internet friends and everytime we get together I go all starry eyed over the power of the Internet to connect people and the irrelevancy of geography. But also how rich in person experiences can be. Can't wait tip June!

Hi, Adri!
Like I told Sally, I didn't catch it until the second set. Wait 'til next time!
Lys, why is it that some people just can't understand that just because they like/love a book/movie/tv show, not everyone they like will enjoy it, too? If we all liked all the same things in the same way, life would be pretty boring.
Ariandalen--exactly!
This is the same chica who raved about Twilight....books AND movie.
But I'm having my influence....fed her American Gods (which she loved) and now she's working on Anansi Boys.
:)
I didn't think "Twilight" the movie was horrible, but it definitely wasn't high art. I haven't read the books, though I've got at least one friend of 10 years who loved the book, while several fiends have said, "don't bother." I'm a bit behind on my reading, so it's not on my "read anytime soon" list.
I haven't read "Coraline" though I do have it. I will wait until after I see the movie. I've learned the hard way that it's better if I do that.
I have the *worst* timing.
Off to read about it.
aw, missed all the gigging.
Am in lovely, warm southern California. Very grateful to Fods and Fiends for having this weather, so I can thaw out for a bit. :)
Still catching up on comments.
Anyone up still?
I agree....having also not read Coraline yet, now I'll wait until the movie. Words are always more powerful than films, oddly enow.
I'm still here, Na.
I think my DH had "Battlestar Galactica" and the Cylons pegged at the end of the last "season." I haven't finished watching the webisodes, either.
sorry, Na, just on my way out! But enjoy your lovely weather....
I still haven't seen the Webisodes! Doh. And my brother tivo'd the season premiere this evening but we haven't watched it. Too tired from the long drive to and back to see THE AUCTION!!! So frakking cool. The Creator himself was there walking around and being very nice. I could go on and on. Won't.
So Hi ariandalen! night Lys. Missed having time to pop in here the past couple days.
Ah, remembered something I wanted to tell FabLo - thought of you as I left the airport yesterday, when I passed a huge billboard for Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. And now I've seen the commercial for it twice.
And I've now seen billboards for Coraline, too.
Never thought I'd enjoy billboards so much. :P
Such enthusiasm! I missed the show, but I'm excited to see the next one.
I was reading. I just started "The Dresden Files". Has anyone else read them?
Drats. Box.
I haven't read Dresden Files, Ticia, though I have a good friend who enjoys them. I liked the series on SciFi, but it wasn't renewed. Just the one season.
I really need to go to bed. I've stayed up too late all week, and I don't need to stay in bed half the day tomorrow.
We may even reach 100 before Ms. Fabulous gets home. We'll definitely get there before the sun rises CST (USA).
Haven't read nor watched Dresden Files, and just heard today about that cancellation. AND I heard that SciFi is apparently changing it's name to "Beyond" and planning to show LESS Sci Fi. Foo-ee.
I have been staying up too late too. Lots of jibber jabber with mi hermano. :) Hoping to find Val and Stacy and Lexa and vampi this weekend! I just sent you all a note on fb.
Showtime has a Beyond channel, but I hadn't heard about NBC/Universal changing SciFi to Beyond. They've been showing an awful lot of stuff that is only marginally science fiction the past couple of years or so.
My eyes are burning. It's definitely time for me to go to bed.
Night!
I've been a bit irritated with SciFi since they started cutting out bits of Doctor Who episodes to show more commercials.
There's so little sci fi, let alone good sci fi, let alone GREAT sci fi on. Wanh. I had heard that their format was already moving in that direction, but haven't had cable in almost a decade, so only get to indulge when visiting family or staying in a hotel. :) still, always was happy to know Sci Fi channel was out there.
I hope the road home isn't too treacherous. Poor Lorraine, all that driving and she still has to drive home. Thanks L, for having us all along tonight.
As for cutting out bits of dr who ... That just sucks.
Rubius--more than that, it borders on blasphemy. I glared at the screen but I don't think it really helped.
okay about a thousand comments ago Eve wished me safe travels - thanks, Eve!
Nuts. If we're doing trailmix, can I be the chocolate bits? Or maybe dried pineapple. I may be more fruity than nutty. And all the good nuts seem to be taken.
Emily, hope you are having a better day. {hugs} Chat away. I think there are no fears here, except of course, the ones we carry in. Chatting'em a bit amongst fiends seems a fine way to lose those fears.
Annie, maybe the glares can translate to letter form. That is disgusting behavior on the network's part. Perhaps SciFi has acquired new management in recent years?
We did send emails but never heard back. I wasn't really surprised.
night fiends. it's still early, but i'm having trouble focusing brain. this week was long.
kittehs
night vampi! just replied to your fb note, too.
heading to bed myself soon too. hoping the monstress lets me sleep in tomorrow. *crosses fingers*
now, putting drink down, to see what sally's up to. Hi Sally!
Hey, I'm finally home, not a fun drive, but I am still in awe of tonight, I had NO idea we were going to do that!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing!!!!
Anyone still up???
Yay you made it home. I heard the live feed was marvelous. :)
And loved your pics from the last post, too.
I am really glad that I decided to bath and look decent tonight! Hopefuly anyway. How did it sound is my main thing.
It was really strange, had no idea. And then it was this really odd show where all of a sudden I realized how many more people were listening than were in the pub and I had to do sort of two shows, I am certain I mucked a lot up, and I know I froze a few times.
We ran long too, which is hard, it was just going so well, we had one break the entire night.
The people in the pub were having SO much fun with this! They loved it.
I believe there will be two more trial runs before st pats, at least, and you will be getting notice. Dr Wicked is sneaky and we had none until he set up and and said "We're live!" I didn't even know what he was doing!
My mind Boggles. I can take you with me for these gigs.
Excuse me, but that so fucking rocks!!!!!!!!!!!
THANKYOU Dr Wicked!
barely...fading fast. all of the excitement wore e out. watching catherine tate show.
so hey i sense there is a love of the irish bands...anyone know black47? <3 them, fabulous guys. funky celi and green shoes are really fun live.
Na, photo booth is a wonderful thing.
I don't know if it rocked, we will wait to hear, tho it seems so. I really want to know what it sounds like....
We are getting better cameras and will have at least 2 for the st pats show. Maybe for my B'day show too, and lights.
I still am reeling, playing for so many of you when I never saw it coming is , well, beyond.
I almost fear st pats. SIX HOURS live all over the world?????
Sound was a bit scratchy at first but turned out great! Was a blast to watch and listen :)
Black 47 are my heros. Came from after hours NY session gigs and went wild, loved 'em live, but suspect they did better before they got huge, as is often the case, sadly...
Annie, thank you! I tried to shout out to everyone, but I think I need to learn to balance web stream and live audience. Nothing like a little trial by fire to get a girl going!
Hi Na and Lorraine.
I've just hopped out of a nice hot bath, and my tired body from an afternoon of shopping feels much better. I'm so sad I missed the show. Is Dr W on FB?
For all the bits I saw you rocked Q
sweet:) no one i know has a clue who black47 are. i want to say i last say them in like 99 or so. found them randomly because i liked the album cover for the promo cd at the record store i worked at.
Maybe one of these days I'll get to see a live show, but til then live-streaming-internet-wizardry isn't a bad second option.....
Annie, its brilliant for Far Flung Fiends, just brilliant.
Must. sleep. happy weekending all.
I don't know if he is on Facebook, we can find out..
Glad it sounded good...
The idea that I can play for you all, and that you can be a part of this thing, that is so a part of me, rocks my world.
I couldn't share it with you before, and always wished I could. Now I can. You can come to the pub.
And please forgive me, I've read all the comments, but am scattered, Welcome, de-lurkers, please stay with us!
Mark, which Mark are you? Very curious? I am sure I miss you too!
Vampi I remember a loooong time ago seeing a video for Marie's Wedding on MTV (a video, on MTV, For Realz!) And I always wanted to hear more of Black 47 but somehow didn't.
Bummed I missed the show..it would've been a lot more fun than endless coil binding.
I don't know what kind of nut I'd be..a hazel nut perhaps?;)
RE: Facebook
My Facebook profile
Mention that you are a Fiend and I will friend you back.
Facebook fiends can also become a fan of Paul and Lorraine on Facebook as I made a page there so you can keep up on the schedule, etc.
Paul and Lorraine Facebook Page
If you are a Twittering fiend feel free to follow me, I usually announce stuff there too.
It was an awesome night of music. Thank you all for joining us, it was great to talk with you. A better camera is most definitely forthcoming but I'm glad to hear that the sound was good for you. Let me know if you all would like to see anything different the next time we do this. Thanks again!
Lorraine - big guy, long hair, Ris was my roommate a couple of years ago. You'd know me if you saw me, but I haven't been out much the past two years.
Sadly I do not get a ticky box since I am using my OpenID sign in, so reading comments is manual for me. :)
Lorraine--didn't you or someone else we know open for Black 47 at some point? I'm trying to figure out how I met them...Drew? Todd?
Anyway, in 2000 or so they were out at San Francisco's St. Paddy's day, and remembered me! My friends and I went off pubbing with them, as we knew the area better and it was a day gig. LOVE their music, even with a drum machine :)
Vampi--there are B47 fans in LA, you will just have to look harder. In all honesty, I didn't know they were still together. The bar they got their start at in NY, and supposedly kept playing at once a year or so, was demolished or so I'd heard....
But it is always neat when folk newly discover such great entertainers.
Now, speaking of great entertainers--the sound quality of your feed here in Socorro, NM was absolutely fantastic. My laptop speakers never sounded so good. But next time, w/notice, I'm hooking you up to the good quad sound! And inviting friends over (hey, does that mean we owe Charley's a cover?)
Damn. I've missed it.
Missed it. (Damn time zones)- as far as I can work out, must have started about 2a.m. our time..
Sounds as though you all had a ball, though!
Missed it too. *pout* Not time zone problems, just to bed early (and up early). Tired after a long week.
I like Black 47 too. Must put some on mp3 player (own several albums).
I'm bummed, I fell over asleep around 7 and missed it!!!!
I missed all the conversation last night, and I'm off to the wilds of Louisville for the day (visiting the parents) so I'll miss you all today.
*waves* see you tomorrow!
Curses! We need a P&L email list to send out notifivations of such things, for those of us who don't refresh the page every five seconds. ^_^
thanks ariandalen for the ustreams link - i will do that - as last night sounded like such fun. and thanks to dr. wicked as well for the facebook links, and all the hard work getting all of us connected even more! i love lorraine and paul's playing, next time i will be there! It is snowing and windy here today, and frigid and a day to go nowhere. which is what i think we will do!
Imagine my surprise when I dropped by the blog last night to lurk and was treated to some lovely live music. What a super idea!
Yay, more de-lurking! Hello Annie M, and welcome. I'm sure Ariandalen will be along to sniff your brains shortly ;-)
What? Dan doesn't refresh every 5 seconds? I thought you were hardwired into the internet!
I too fell asleep and didn't know there would be a streaming gig. I'll have to see if I can get that to work on my old-ish Mac (though it's not the treadle model...that's in the next room) ;-)
DataG - will wave toward 65 as you travel through. Enjoy tropical Louisville (it's got to be warmer than Indy)
OK, a friend of mine just mailed me this.
Drinks down, not work safe, and, unless there was stuff going on at last nights gig I haven’t heard about, unrelated to the post… Emily dear, you may want to look away now
Marjorie! You're as sick as I am! (and more computer savvy) I've been forcing everone I know to watch that commercial! I've never laughed so hard. I duck at the linky thing, so I didn't mention it here.
Ticia, someone on here explained it - I can't work out how to show you without it making a link, but it tells you how on blogger help
The show sounded lovely and Fablo, I am amazed at your wonderful playing. I mean, yes, I believed that you sounded as wonderful live as you do recorded, but it was still so much fun to *hear* it for myself!! And you and Paul are hilarious together. :-)
(Didn't like Wicked either, btw -- he started the very interesting track about the talking animals and the goat professor being killed and then . . . we're off to another tangent and leaving this good one hanging and I ended up really not liking the whole thing. But Coraline? Amazing and good. Truly good. I am almost afraid to see the movie because I do adore the book so much but have been assured by a pretty decent Authority that I will like most of it.)
I got my work stuff from school, so I can work this weekend! Yay. I now feel normal. I suck at relaxing...
Aww, I missed it. Only heard the last minute or two of the first set from over on the other post. This is what happens when I go to bed!
What I did hear sounded great, Q. :)
Breakfast now. Morning, Fiendses.
Thanks Marjorie! Phiala wrote a little instruction thingie. I just have to print it up so I can look at it while I'm on my phone. I do very little "reading" from my laptop. My phone is a permanent attachment to my left hand these days!
That was so much fun.
For those of you who missed it...
Here are a couple videos I took last night, better video, worse sound but here you go:
The Night Pat Murphy Died
Mary Mack
I recommend clicking the "Watch in High Quality" Link
Enjoy.
Dr. Wicked, I LOVE you! (in a faceless, Internet, never actually met you kind of way)
Thank you Dr Wicked!
Q - great to see you and Paul almost live :-)
Thanks for the video!
Last night was great!
Sound was great after the break.
I look forward to more of this and also to spreading the word. (Not that I'll stop coming to Charlie's though!)
The video was certainly a wonderful treat after a bad day. While I'm here, let me thank the Fiends for all their wonderful, wonderful support yesterday. It really helped.
A lot.
good morning lovely fiends :)
wow 138 comments already. we are obsessed..um i mean prolific.
Fods, he works fast, that Dr Wicked. I am afraid to watch it myself, but maybee after some more tea...
My Morning Comment turned into a Post, and it is up now...
Dr Wicked, I love you too. Thank you so much for posting the videos.
Lorraine, you and Paul ROCK.
