Cabel and Kylie!

Quick little post before I go back to the couch with Cabel the Dog. Here's a picture Kitty sent us of Miss Selena Kyle! She's getting HUGE, I knew she would, she had the look. And she looks happy. Really Happy. That was a perfect match! I am so glad I found her for Miss Kitty. (Anyone else need a Cat-beastie? I can help you...)

Cabel is still recovering, poor guy. I think he hurts, and seem content to be with me and sleep, tho he wake instantly if I leave the room. Limits things somewhat. I did go out and get a nice futon today, and see me some Bengals, for a couple hours while Hans sat with him. I also ordered him a Soft E Collar, which is more of a squishy thing, MUCH less stressful that the Cone-head, for nighttime wear.

Still coughs some, but not as much, and it is getting better, I'll ask about it tomorrow tho, also about swimming, which some people have recommended.

Other than that, my last remaining fish, whom I called affectionately, Fish, died. He was swimming kind of sideways the other day, never a good sign. RIP Fish. I will get some more, but it poses a bit of an ethical dilemma, I have been thinking about getting some feeder fish for the Bengals to, ah, go fishing for. But at what point does one draw the line? "Ah, you! Swim, be lovely! And you! Lunch! Come here!"

See what I mean? I think they can fish for ping pong balls.

Work on the website is going nicely, more on that soon. Danguy ad Dr Wicked talked to each other, copying me, tho I've no idea why, didn't understand a word of it, but still, I think things are moving nicely.

We have been trying to find a Name for our Party in June, the Fiend Gathering in Minneapolis, at Hotel unknown as of yet. Ideas are welcome but ANYTHING-palooza is NOT in the running!

Love and Night,
Lorraine

Kitties!

More scritches for the poor puppy.

And featherstick and tuna for the bengals, but maybe not fishies...

I want to come to Fablopalooza! But June is so not good for me... I'm actively trying to make it happen, though!

I did my part for the site. Now I'm waiting for Dr. Wicked to throw the switch.

Just logging on to say a quick "Hi!" before the next week of work starts. Sorry to read about Cabal's injury--glad to hear he's healing. The U vets are great!

Hope all else is well and to talk soon!
Much love,

Kitty is so big and furry, and is that a cigarette hanging out of her mouth or are my eyes playing tricks on me?
Poor Cabal. Be interested to hear how the soft collar goes -if it does stop him getting to his leg.
Watching the Bengals fish for ping pong balls would be hilarious. Definite video material

It sure looks like it, Sally - those California Kitties - all sorts of evilness!

Kylie has gotten huge! Sign of a contented cat :-)

Q, are you at least getting some privacy, or is Cabel requiring being present for everything you're doing if he can?

Ping pong balls are fun to fish for because they float, might be more fun for the bengals.

I'm discovering how little brain power I have after a few days of no real food. I hope work isn't too demanding tomorrow.

GOL (who coined that here? sorry, can't remember whom to credit, but I love it), Chantrelle, we like to spread the "love" of certain books as well.

Went to the comic store this weekend. Found "Rose" which is Jeff Smith and Charles Vess working together. Wheee! And this looks very promisingly Fiendish, for any here who enjoy comics, "Courtney Crumrin and the Night Things." The monster polished it off this evening and then I started it. But, back to working for a bit.

At 10:29 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Sally, do you at least have some electric fans?

You could try putting a pan of ice in front of the fan, then sit in front of it. Even a pan of cold water will help if you can't use that much ice. We'll understand if we don't hear from you for a couple of days as computers generate a fair amount of heat, and that will be something you'll want to avoid.

At 10:33 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

we have fans and an evaporative cooler, but by this time tomorrow night the house will be an oven - being brick and with no insulation it becomes a heat sink.

And I had very much the same image as Ariandalen about throwing the switch, complete with sound effects.

Sally is observant and Kylie is gorgeous (even with a yet-to-be-fully-identified object in her mouth).

Phiala, I didn't get to the last post in time to comment on your astounding weaving. Wow. And I'm also thinking Viking Barbie has tremendous potential as a new toy line...think of the accessories!

Nathalie, I think we need more than just a chart for names/nick names. More on the order of a program (the paper kind, like at plays or ballgames) to keep track of all vital info. I need to go back through the blog and search for GOL now. Missed that the first time around.

Wishing everyone a Good Monday.

(Crawls blearily out from under the duvet to forage for tea)

Happy Firbday Robyn!

Thanks for all well wishing. I decided to stay home from work today on the basis that I may get better faster that way, and anyway I'm probably infectious, and also my brain had turned to goo (and not even spicy goo) so I probably shouldn't be giving people legal advice today anyway. I checked my anti-virus software was up to date before i logged on so hopefully no infection will escape to catch the fiends...

I, too, think Dr Wicked should be throwing the switch at midnight, in a thunderstorm, with much evil laughter. You alredy have a spooky Haus. Watch out for large crowds with flaming torches and pitchforks,..

Real names an such - we were talking about some kind of 'cheat sheet' before to match up who everyone is on facebook / twitter/ lastfm and here. I had time on my hands on Saturday so I made one. I won't post it as most people are on facebook under real names, but e-mail me at marjorie_taylor at hotmail dot com and I will send you a copy - of course oly has those fiends who are firnds with me on those places on it. . .

I like Fienddom Come but I feel we should have some mention of spicy brains, if only to freak out the hotel.

And there should be T shirts.

Lexo: thanks! It was great to get snowed it (or be able to claim to be snowed in) and actually do some weaving.

Hope the puppy is starting to get better! *scritches* and that sleeping with him instead of home is not too wearing.

DataG - *waves harder so wave travels up 65* Husbeast will be a very popular guy if he can do that! In Weather 2.0 can it be tweaked for individual houses? Say, I want sun and my neighbor wants snow... wouldn't that be useful? :-D

Marjorie - I sent email as well. We do need a program to tell who the players are.

I'm betting that the new site might have a message board for chatting? A list could be there, viewable only by members.

GOL? Er... I must've missed that one. Can someone decode please?

There's plenty of cold air here (with even colder coming later this week) so all that wish some, please... take mine. It's *all* yours!

Is Selina Kylie a Maine Coon? I have one, and the floofyness, ear tufts and size look familiar. They are big snugglers, so Miz SK will come to expect her laps and cuddles (and we would not want the kitties to expect less, would we)?

At 7:32 AM , Blogger EmilyLady said...

I wonder if, by some chance, I could make it so that I could attend the Fiend Gathering. That is something I would love to make happen! I will try.

I'm glad the coughing has eased. I think swimming is a great option for injuries of almost any kind, although I'm not sure what it would do for dogs as opposed to humans ...

At 7:39 AM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Hi Maria,

We don't know about Kylie, but people have told us before they think she is at least part Maine Coon. And we do know she has the Maine Coon tufts, and feet, and she is REALLY a snuggler!

She was found in a field with no Mom and no siblings, and taken to the shelter and they thought she was about 8 weeks, and I adopted her 4 weeks later and took her home.

Where she met Miss Kitty, fell in love and moved to LA, lol.

At 7:42 AM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Thanks, Jess, that one's new to me. *goes Web surfing*

At 9:35 AM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

You can also check out travelocity.com and sign up for their fare alert, you tell them what you want, and when the fare drops below whatever price you have listed, they e-mail you.

I wouldn't BOOK the flights with these sites, you can get locked into some pretty harsh penalties for change or canceling, ie lose it all.

Book on the web at the airlines site, use the travel sites to point you to who has the best deals. Don't book on the phone anymore, the fees are huge if you don't have elite status.

There's also priceline, where you tell them how much you will pay, and where you want to go, and if they accept your bid, you pay THEN and find out later what flights, times, and how many stops...Brutal it is. And totally not changeable or refundable.

Shelly from SF? They made skeletons by hanging road kill from a tree in their back yard, mostly....so when the bones were picked clean, her husband did art installations with them (if I'm remembering right.)

They're trying to track me down.
They say they want more connectivity
By de mobile and de Blackberry,
They want me on de Blackberry.
But I say:

I quit the Twitter, but I swear it was in self-defense.

I quit the Twitter, but I did not mean to cause no big offense.

Marjorie: see Lilith Fair

I thought they still did it every year! That's a surprise.

Isn't there something in Bambi about being Twitter-pated????

Not to bring up Disney on Chantrelles big day..

At 1:43 PM , Blogger Jess said...

What is Twitter-pated? Like, you've got little birds flying round and round your head?

At 1:45 PM , Blogger Arwenn said...

That's Tweety-pated :)

Happy birthday, Chantrelle! (I haven't gotten around to thanking you for the lovely Christmas card -- so thank you very much!)

Happens in the springtime, I believe. You fall in love then.

Fiends! I got some great news -- I've got booth space at San Diego Comic-Con this year! I can sell my art now; but more importantly -- I'll have a place to SIT DOWN.

At 1:52 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Wonderful news Val!!!! It seems to be fairly huge, never been myself, they do tell tales of it late at night around the fire, tho.

I think Boss has been. Yup. Think he has.

At 1:55 PM , Blogger Na said...

Congrats Val! Should be much fun.

At 1:56 PM , Blogger Dread Val said...

'Fairly huge' is a serious understatement. They hit over 100,000 people in that convention center at the same time. Boss will understand the full scope of my joy at having a Place to Sit. Don't get me wrong, selling art is good and all, and advancing my career is a bonus, but the true epic goodness of this news is that I will have a designated chair and place to hide from people who want to grab my breasts.

At 1:56 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wowzers!!! BIG congrats, Val, that is totally awesome (like, fer sher!)
heh.
sorry.
flashbacks.
But seriously, that is great and quite an accomplishment; booth space when you've not had it before is hard to get.

At 1:57 PM , Blogger EmilyLady said...

Val, that is so wonderful!

At 1:59 PM , Blogger Na said...

Jess, your song adaptation is most excellent.

I have at least one friend who hardly even uses email, let alone surfs the web or reads blogs, doesn't have a cell phone. Shall have to share that with her. But how? ;)

At 2:00 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I am happy for you, but you should not hide from people who try and grab your breasts, you should kill them.

At 2:01 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

How indeed, Na, that's very strange..

At 2:02 PM , Blogger Na said...

Val! Ugh. People do that?@!#

Here I was thinking, awesome crowd to see your work, place to sit, and doesn't that make it easier to get a spot in subsequent years...

At 2:08 PM , Blogger Na said...

I second FabLo. Someone does that, I think we're back to burying the hatchet, fiend-style.

As for my offline friend, I just got her street address (six months after moving away - doh) so I can write her. I do have some lovely, neglected stationary.

At 2:12 PM , Blogger Jess said...

Yay Val!! Awesome sauce. :)

De lurking to compliment the kitty and wish healing thoughts to the pup.

And to see if you are familiar with makingfiends.com? I see connections.

Nicole, consider yourself swaddled in some of our excess heat!

and welcome!

At 2:20 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Phiala, I know that has been the problem with our weather this summer - its been all over the place, for instance, the next few days will be over 100 F, but last week we were experiencing about 65 F. Poor body is very confused

At 2:21 PM , Blogger Dread Val said...

Lys -- Totally, dude! My teacher waded through the nine-year waiting list for a proper booth, so that's where I'll be. I wish I were cool enough on my own, but alas. ;)

And yes, Na and Quiche -- people do try to grab my breasts. This goes badly for them.

At 2:32 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Congrats Val, and all strength to your fist dealing with breat grabbers. Creeps.

At 2:40 PM , Blogger Dread Val said...

I think at Fiend-whatever-we-are, if people are interested, I will teach a very brief class, called "Morons and You," in which I cover wrist locks, scathing insults, and other fine self-defense techniques. Price: pint of beer.

At 2:58 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Uisge, welcome!!!!! Making Fiends.com? Must see this..

Val, sounds good, tho I have been playing in Pubs for a long time, and don't get touched much, I'm pretty pre-emptive, hee-hee...

trying to get an interview for foodporn set up w/ jonathan coulton this weekend...not sure it will happen but at least they wrote back!

Val - awesome about the booth! I may be there this year, not sure yet. my cousin has a booth there and said i could crash it but i need to be able to afford a hotel nearby!

At 3:15 PM , Blogger Na said...

Hey Uisge! Eska vou vou.

Self-defense moves sound, well, entertaining. Wristlocks, you say? Oooh. Someone once suggested this off-putting technique to me: if one is being mildly accosted and has a drink at hand, take a big swig, then grin widely at the accoster, letting the drink run all out the corners of one's mouth.

At 3:24 PM , Blogger Beez said...

sigh

Admittedly it's been a while, but as a long -long- time cocktail waitress and bartender, I probably still hit first, ask questions...after I hit them a few more times.

Twitterpated is indeed from Bambi and usually happens in the Spring, although being our different little Fiend selves, we went for the Dead of Winter.

Making Fiends? I LOVE that cartoon! Almost as much as I love Lenore, and I don't love much more than I adore Lenore (she rhymespeaks).

Hurrah for a place to sit at ComicCon Val! There are plans afoot to be there this year with a small herd or horde, depending on who signs up.

Congrats, Val!! And there are people alive who have non-consensually grabbed your breasts? You have restraint :-)

No sighs, Beez. I reckon that gets filed under "protecting oneself", admissible exception to pacifism.

Ha! Listening to Dresden Dolls while attempting to work. A bit too distracting. But getting my guy more hooked on Things AFP.

Hey Facebook Fiends
I've just made the Fablo's Fiends on facebook a closed group - which means that we can put stuff there that only members can see. I need someone in a different time zone to be an administrator too, to attend to stuff while I'm asleep (or visa versa) Anyone?

At 5:11 PM , Blogger Chantrelle said...

Happy birthday to me, i just got my box of Endless stuff...cd, poster and shirt that i'm changing into for dinner :D

Happy B'day indeed!!!!!! Cool giftie...

Chantrelle - sounds like you've been having an excellent birthday!

Dragonsally - since I practically live on my computer, I'd be glad to help with the adminning of the FB group.

And I've asked Husbeast if he can get right on the weather control thing, we're supposed to be getting freezing rain, then several inches of snow tonight. Hrumph, he just laughed at me. ;-)

Thanks Toni.
Toni and Siri have joined me as officers (sounds soooo official) so you now who to hassle if there is a problem *runs away*

Happy Birthday, Chantrelle!

Fiend group on FB? Hm... ah! Found it. Sent request.

Beez - when I was 18 and doing a bar remote (DJ work), one idiot co-worker thought that groping me would be OK because I'd be too young to want to make a fuss. One full pitcher of beer applied to his crotch cured him of that notion. He tried to complain to our boss but the guy told him that all he could do was write *him* up for harassment because I'd told him to stop twice.

Val - congrats on the tablespace!! And agree with a place to sit at SDCC. It's nuts.

I've got a Twitter account but don't really twit (tweet? whatever!). I just wanted to snag my username before someone else did. My phone will celebrate its 6th birthday soon. It's old enough to start first grade!

I had 30 perfect minutes today, which is something you don't get everyday, do you?

New post is up!

Thanks, Dragonsally. Funny thing: it's *really* getting warmer here! Sun and almost 0 degrees Celsius (yesterday: - 8!).
