Tonight's Gig Cancelled....

Not that I think any of the Minneapolis Fiends are quite this nuts, but in case you were going to head out to Paul and Lorraine tonight, that gig has been canceled in its entirety.

Even if I couldn't make it, which it looks like I could not, Paul and Dylan were going to try, but it is such a mess here, snow wise, that the gig has been called off completely.

Driving simply makes no sense for anyone, either for us or anyone coming to the show.

Stay in and stay safe!

(Proper post tonight, not to worry)

Love and Home,
Lorraine

Glad you get to stay in and bundle up. We had an ice storm in Ft. Wayne, IN. Had no phone or internet yesterday and part of today, power on and off. Many people here still have no power and it isn't going to be back on until Wed. Daughter and her Sig Oth are staying with us as they have no power. Got my two foster 1/2 brother boys adopted today to a nice couple in southern IN.

Sorry to hear you had to cancel gig but best to stay safe. (and hopefully warm, with power and light)

Adding my agreement that I'm sorry about the gig but I would so much rather y'all be safe! Here, it is raining raining raining -- for the 13th day out of the last 20 days. Sigh. Always raining and never snow...

I'm glad you were able to cancel rather than being forced to go out in horrible weather.

We should have a virtual Fiend gig - everyone get out your Folk Underground CDs!

I still have power, fingers crossed. Mostly here I think it is just a MESS rather than a HUGE EVENT.

Just as glad, sort of, to stay home. I am really getting things DONE. HOW this place gets such a mess, when I live alone, except for these darn Leopards, I do not know.

(I DO know who knocked the Halloween town building down smashing it to bits, Mim thy name is Destruction!)

Hurrah on getting Bengals adopted!!!!!

I had to vacuum the King and Queens room today for the first time. Lear ran to the closet and LEVITATED up to the very top shelf! And hissed and hissed! I closed the door, and hopefully he isn't too traumatized . I suspect the chicken I am making for us for dinner will help smooth over any irritation....

"always winter and never Xmas" Grace...I had something to tell you but Fod knows what..Oh, I need to make you my friend on last FM that was it. I think.

Virtual gig! Love it. I need to learn to podcast, like the AFP people did from the kitchen, they just had a laptop, and then I could walk around and show you things, and , uh, entertain you

At 2:04 PM , Blogger Phiala said...

OH, that would be cool! We could have a real virtual gig.

The weather is supposed to turn bad here AGAIN, so I'm going to pop out to the store and buy dog food (running out would inspire world-class whining).

Then... virtual gig time!

Okay all you frozen Fiends -just imagine you're 'over here' with me and Jacq today enjoying the 30C/86F that we have forecast...with beautiful blue skies.
I am glad you're able to stay home safe Q, hate to think of any of you driving in bad weather. Hope you don't find too many other Mim disasters while you clean.
Yah for finding new homes for fosters!

I am easily entertained, so a Spooky House podcast sounds perfect! And yay for being a last.fm fiend. Such things make me happy. :-)

I am actually going to go to a high school basketball game tomight. The coach for our boys' varsity is one of my very most favourite fellow teachers, so I'm going tonight to an away game to scream like a banshee for our team. I hope we kick ass. Ahem. I mean, I hope we win, in the spirit of good sportsmanship of course. (The last b-ball game I went to, I was so good -- I only yelled at the refs one time.)

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words about my potential homebound job next week. I want to do it because I want to learn myself and become a really good spec ed teacher and get some varied and important experience. But in the interest of full disclosure, I also get paid some extra (homebound teachers get an hourly wage), so I'm not completely altruistic!!

My 16-year-old cat is losing the ability to groom himself. Any thoughts on what to do? He does NOT like to be brushed. Otherwise, he is still in pretty decent shape for an elderly cat, eating fine, using the litter box fine, purring still quite regularly, rubbing himself up against our feet and legs and being his normal self. Just with really clumpy nasty fur that he doesn't groom anymore. Poor old guy . . .

Grace, good luck on the homebound! Getting a chance to make a difference is SO important...

On the Kitty thing, sometimes not grooming is a sign of Something Wrong. A lot of older cats have kidney troubles, and stop grooming. Take him in for a Senior Profile and make sure that's all good first, is what I would do...

No more disasters, but WILL it al be done. I put the chicken in DESPITE the Bengals best efforts. And one wonders WHY I do not cook much here....

Grace, I'd say clip him where it mats up. A nice close clipping helps for rather a long time before you have to do it again. My Midge was 24 before he died, and grooming wasn't high on his priority list for a while.

Pet stores have wipes too to just run over the fur- it keeps things from getting stinky.

Home home snow snow....virtual gig sounds good. I will have to go retrieve my Folk Underground CD from Son+.

The car was frozen in - I shoveled the sidewalks yesterday, but not the drive. BIG mistake.

So Nick and Grendel and I walked to the store to get dog food.

Heh, Quichie- a friend of mine just modified my rum ball recipe with (ta daaa!!) MANGO, rum!

She lives in Floraddidadida where such things are -not- unknown.

Ah,Mango....I have heard of them up here in the tundra....

Snow snow and snow indeed.....

Sometimes Plan B is a very good thing. Sounds like you've had a productive time sorting things out and treating the King to new experiences ;)

Warm thoughts for your evening.

Grace, I was going to say what Q already did: changes in grooming could indicate there's a problem in cats.

However, if your cat has already been checked out, I'd say try the gloves that have the rubbery nubs on the inside. You're meant to put the glove on and pet the furry ones so they get groomed without realizing it. It's not helpful with existing mats (I'd clip those out to be done with them) but it may cut down on future matting. Good luck.

Took Pics of the newly out in order Spooky Haus. Feels good. Bengls helped.

With the pics, not the tidying....

Not Going Out seems like a very good plan indeed.

Lindsey(that's nice purple shirt lady to you, Lorraine) and I did some shopping earlier today and it was terrible even then. (This coming from a crazy person who -likes- to drive in snow.) My family even decided to stay home, boo.

So as it is, Lindsey is building a dresser in her bedroom and I'm curled up with candles and chai to edit some poetry.

I can't wait to see the pics of the newly tidy house. Perhaps it will motivate me.

Phiala-- frozen cars are the pits. You don't have to go anywhere soon, do you?

Grace-- please, let us know how the teaching goes. I teach at a highly specialized learning center for children and adults. A lot of our students are exactly like what you've described. It will be interesting to compare notes.

Snow = Ma Nature's way of saying "keep yer butt indoors!" That's my philosophy, anyway. I filled the birdfeeders today in anticipation of it being Too Cold To Deal With the next couple of days down here in Indy. 4 is nuts, but if it's supposed to be 4 here, I hate to think of what it is up your way.

Spooky Haus pics? Cool!

The snow is wild here as well. Sorry the gig had to be called off. Keep warm at home!

I am working on the Spooky Haus picture post. It will have to be in installments, to get the full tour.

We had a break for dinner. Adventures in Chicken! Mim went berserk, of course, Venus sat nicely and ate what I gave her. Lear and Mab ate from my hand, and Le Solace Leopard hissed and growled when I tossed, but did sniff, and blinked at me a few times.

I'm sorry your gig was canceled, Lorraine. But I am waiting on tenterhooks for spooky house pics!

Thank you all for your wonderful, supportive comments last night. I love hearing stories about how people make their dreams work.

This is really the most nurturing community I have stumbled onto (makes you wonder when it's the ONLY community I have stumbled onto, eh?)... Thank you all for being a part of it.

It's also kind of weird for me to realize there are more people than me up a 3:00 am.... Well, it was 3:00 am for me.... I tend to think of the night when my family is asleep as mine alone. It's good to know there are friends (fiends)out there.

At 5:59 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

That's what we are here for Ticia, that's what True Fiends ARE. Here to help, whatever it is.

It's truly a special place, and if you heart is good, everyone is welcome.

And Tica, if you hurry you can be First on the picture post....

Gig being canceled is wise.

Phiala -- your ice storm sounds awful. I think ice storms are worse than blizzards really. The umbrella heavy with ice made me shudder. Frozen car sucks.

I find that it is easier for my house to get out of order when I live alone than when I live with people.

Best wishes, Grace, in working with home bound student. So glad that their is a program that allows this to happen.

Mango. I have mango lemonade in the fridge. I think I want some now.

Oh Fods, I need Merry Housekeeper here, we have continual dust because of the cracks in the plaster everywhere...a not good side effect of a house that rests on reactive soil, during a drought. I swear, you run a dusting cloth over something, and a few minutes later you can't tell.

I am feeling much better to know you at home with the besties rather than taking that long drive. I remember seeing those cars having gone off that long straight road into the ditch, you know...

Can you send some of that snow my way? Heh.
