News For you.....

(new Kitty photo, just had to share, always wanted a picture growling with something in my teeth)

Lots of newses for you tonight! I will try and not forget anything.

This Friday is a special event at Charlie's Pub in Stillwater, with Paul and I doing the music. Complete info HERE but basically you pay $10, $12 at the door, and you get to drink all the Micro Brewery Beer your little selves can hold. We'll be in the big room, and having a blast. I don't expect out of the country Fiends of course, but the rest of you should nip down, including my little lurkers, great way to meet people you know, all the beer you can drink....Special Guests TBA! This event is Friday only, no Saturday show this week...

Over at Neverwear.net , our own Miss Kitty's site, there are some Holiday Specials going on. (And a very hot picture of AFP in a Graveyard Tee.)

Judging from the amount of Loot Kitty went home with this trip, I think there may be some pretty cool things that you simply cannot GET anywhere else.

I know this Holiday Season things are rather tight. And we have to decide where our money is going gift-wise. And I know I am preaching to the choir when I say that considering supporting a small business or charity makes one warm and fuzzy inside.

So go get yr Neverwear, and a free Giftie besides!

Speaking of which, I am still running my Any Amount, Any CD's sale until the end of the year. Donate ANY amount to Bengal Rescue, and I will send you cd's. The Gift that gives twice. ( donate@greatlakesbengalrescue.com )

And speaking of Bengals. I have FIVE now. My Venus and Mim, an as yet un-named F1 abuse child, and the hugest cat ever begot, F2 King Lear and his charming companion Queen Mab.

I don't now yet if Lear and Mab will be going onto a new home, I don't know if they can, they are still in hiding and it is too early to tell. I know the F1 Leopard won't, I'm it for his chance.

I can't take another. The next time Janet calls, I will have to say no. Our group is closed to any more taking in Bengals. We have no more room in any Foster Homes. Please, consider, if you have a room that could be a foster room, becoming a Foster Home, to a Bengal that would otherwise be put down, or turned away to Fod Knows what.

The Kitties I take in are the seriously bad off cases. Most Bengals who come to us are wonderful, loving kitties, who just need a bit of help finding the right home, having lost theirs thru no fault of their own..

I can tell you, taking in a Bengal, and finding it's true family is one of THE most rewarding experiences I have had this year. Nothing like it.

Or if you are thinking about a new Friend for Xmas. Try here......

Love and Thanks,
Lorraine

Is five the threshold for Mad Cat Lady status? Or is it six? Let's say seven. You're not a Mad Cat Lady till you have seven. ;)

It is wonderful what you do. I'm amazed things stay as peaceful as they do-- I roomed in a house with five very sweet cats, and that was a nonstop turf war. Mainly in my room, for some reason. They all wanted to live with me. ?Why??

Venus and Mim make lovely bookends. And the garnet bracelets are...veeerrry tempting. I never wear the jewelery I get any more, but I'm always tempted. Shiny. 8]

Five bengals must make for wonderful company.

Your Rhode Island Fiend will not be there. Oh well, someday.

Have fun!

They each have their OWN part of the house, Le Leopard, a bedroom, and Lear and Mab in teh Forest Bedroom, and Venus and Mim everywhere else.

I think it is 7 for COCL status....

I wanna drink beer and listen to music! *pout*

Nick is out running around this evening. The dog whined for a while, then went off to bed by himself to be pitiful. Apparently now he's tired of that sort of pitiful, and has returned to whining.

Grendel is SO Nick's dog...

Oh, thank Fod. I thought I'd been sucked into that anti-fiend dimension for a minute. :D

Is Le Leopard still doing toys-in-the-bowl?

Great photo of the growling Q!

Well Friday night is a big maybe for me. Hope I can be there with a big old gang of folks because it sounds like fun! I know a few people that have a passion for beer -- so we'll see.

I'll spread the word on all of these special events and offers. Much good stuff going on in Fiend Land it seems!

At 6:28 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Thanks Aleta! All the beer you want! Bring lots of people!

Le Leopard is leaving toys but not all the time. He is interested in me, which is good.

I hide food for him, which he seems to like to hunt...

Henilein once said "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should just get used to it"

Poor Grendal!

Hm so what does 7 Bengals translate to in other cat numbers. I once had about 15 cats in 4 rooms in my house, all of whom needed homes. No Bengals tho, so maybe I still don't qualify for Crazy Cat Lady status as I'm sure Bengals are at least 2 or 3 "mutt" cats. It was close I think. ;)

I have been a Nanny for so many years that I got out of the habit of wearing jewelry (as I always seemed to have an infant to care for). I try to remember to put it on now though.

M had to go to the Dr today because his tonsils are so swollen he can't eat. He told EVERYONE we met today that his "twinsels are totally swollend!"

Nathalie, I hope the your Dr appointment went well and you are on the road to recovery!

Friday may work out for me if M is better. I will keep my fingers crossed!

I want to go on Friday- somebody else will have to drink the beer.

I think I'm getting sick though.I don't have time for this!.

The Bengals are too beautiful. I don't -think- you are the COCL, but after seeing the Growly Quiche picture.....

Have you had your shots?

At 6:47 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Hee-hee, shots indeed!!!!

No getting sick Beez! We are having a party on Friday!

Who can say what I will wake up as some misty morning....

Wish i could join the beer-swilling fiend music madness! June? :)

Spent the day at a friends house...it was meant to be a morning play date like thing and we got there at 10:30 and left at 5pm...woops! Kids were having a blast and the other mom and i sat on our butts most of hte day...lovely! We did however go out on her property and find some bolete mushrooms so the day wasn't entirely wasted!

At 7:03 PM , Blogger gaypet said...

Well Beez we really should ALL go on Friday if we can. :) Sick-shmick I say. I can't wait to meet you and it has been too long since I have seen Aleta or Q!

Party on girls!!

OK, I really have to do homework now. M is finally asleep but will not be going to school tomorrow so my regular study time is in the crapper. I'm almost done for this semester. Hurray!

Not being able to take on as many cats and dogs as I can is the only thing I miss about the house.

Tomorrow is "Gays on Strike" day in the US. I don't know if it will be a "thing" or not but many people that I know are not going into work to protest the second class citizen status which the GLBT community suffers here. I won't be going to work but I have to go to school.

OK, P.S.A. over...

At 7:11 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Mushrooms!!!!!! I don't eat them but I do like to hunt them. They can be very fierce when cornered you know...

Good luck on the studying, Gayle! Hope you can come Friday!

I am sinking ecer lower into the couch, may well be an early night.

At 7:14 PM , Blogger Chantrelle said...

You don't eat any mushrooms? They're all so different. Why don't you eat them?

Candy caps taste like maple syrup, where boletes, when grilled, almost taste like bacon....all mushrooms are out?

At 7:43 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Oh Gaypet, M is too cute for words.

Good on you and your friend for having a chill out day Chantrelle. I think all parents need chill out days at this time of the year.

I wish I could have a Bengal. Maybe, in time...

Meanwhile here at the ranch, we're waiting to hear if our animals have to be tested for kidney damage due to contaiminated treats from China. Spoke to our vet last night and he'll be ringing back soon
bloody hell

At 7:47 PM , Blogger Lexocat said...

Mushrooms are a big favorite around here. Boy will eat them before touching anything else on his plate. He's never met a mushroom he doesn't like. He's pretty keen on asparagus, too. Go figure.

Gayle, I'm in love with the "twinsels" statement! So cute.

I want a garnet, well, anything, really. It's my birthstone, too. All the more reason to get a bracelet. Right?

The more pictures you post of Bengals, Q, the more I find myself considering the possibility of adopting a rescue. Though not until Marty our geriatric, three-legged feline has moved on to life #10. Too stressful for him to accommodate interlopers at this late stage in his life.

And, as if considering Bengals wasn't enough, Husband continues to look at Border Collie rescues.

Why, yes, we DO want to turn our lives inside-out! How could you tell?

At 7:51 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Oh Sally, no fun!

A engal and a Border Collie?? Brave worm, Lex, you life would NOT be dull! Many thanks for considering a Bengal Rescue, but you are right, doesn't sound like the time.

Speaking of kitties in new homes, Kali is loving life in LA!!! Batman is , by all accounts, besotted with her and they love eachother well!

Ms. Fab, I think I will run on down to the pub on Friday, possibly bringing a few of my own. It'll be lovely to hear you play again.

Also, I'm fairly sure I'll be fostering a kitty as soon as I have the room. Curse your peer pressure!

Q, your post inspired me to look up rescue dogs for my mom, who's considering getting another puppy. (My parents are down to one dog, and though she gets lots of socializing with family friends' dogs, my mom is sure she's lonely.) I'm not sure if she'll appreciate it, but hopefully she'll choose a rescue poodle!

To Fiends considering it-- bring a bengal (or two!) into your life. Sure, you'll never do anything alone again EVER, but it will be worth it!

::waving:: Welcome, lastlunatic!

::bouncy, bouncy, bounce::
A new Fiend to play with, and a lunatic t'boot! Wheeeeeee!

Uh. I said that out loud, yet again, didn't I? ::sigh::

Yay! More pictures of our Queen Empress! And when did Mim get grown?! No Bengals for me for quite a while. Daughters need to be older, and Tangwyn is 11.5 years old and just now getting back to eating somewhat normally since we started feeding feral kitties. He is strictly an indoor cat, they are strictly outdoors, though Dragon keeps trying to come inside.

Jacqui, the teacher in DD1's class has asked each of the parents to send a wrapped stocking stuffer for each of the kids in the class. They can be for gender specific, or not, and we do know how many of each gender is in the class. I did allow DD1 to get her teacher a gift in the Santa Shop that the PTO runs one week in December each year. Nothing to break the bank, I just haven't done it yet and the class party is this Friday.

Keeping fingers crossed for your furkids, Sally!

Hope M feels better soon!

Nathalie, hope the ick leaves and doesn't come back!

I love garnets. My wedding ring has a green garnet in lieu of a diamond--i'm not a diamond girl. Hubby thought he was lucky until he discovered i like platinum. And then when we went to australia i learned i also love opals. They make diamonds look cheap!

Still, garnets have a special place in my heart as my birthstone.

I'm so tempted!! Can you leave bengals alone for a day or two like you can housecats? That's one of my biggest hesitations, because I think Mom would faint if we showed up at her house with something feline during a visit.

How badly do they shed?

At 9:09 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I'm a pearl girl, myself, but I love opals too! I think it's great to see a wedding ring with something other than a diamond-- you're lucky, Chantrelle.

Purple stones for Ms. Fab... somehow I'm not surprised. They've got nice energy.

At 9:13 PM , Blogger Adri said...

I'm an Amethyst girl, by birthstone, but opals and sapphires (and, yes, Chantrelle, platinum) are my favorites. You're not kidding about price, I just had my wedding rings resized and it was WAY more expensive than I was expecting.

Oh, we put up our solstice shrub this weekend and thusfar we've redecorated it about twice a day under close bengal supervision (they offer constructive criticism by knocking off offending ornaments and, in once spectacular instance, knocking over the tree altogether). They're too cute to be upset with, though. In between design review sessions, they nap on the tree skirt and look like a holiday card.

Here's Zanzibar in the tree. This photo fuels my desire for a digital SLR.

At 9:14 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Datagoddess, you can indeed leave them alone if need be for a day. Not so good with the early generation, but the later ones will be fine tho they WILL have plenty to say when you get back!

As far as shedding goes, they shed way less than regular cans and are thought to be one of the best cats for people with allergies.

Purple stones are the best, El! I love them so!

At 9:16 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Adri, WAY to cute!!!

No tree here, the poor ficus has a hard enough time of it.

At 9:18 PM , Blogger Chantrelle said...

My cans don't tend to shed all that much.

At 9:18 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Ms. Fabulous also has a February birthday. ;)

Granted, what your birthstone is is determined by the jewelry/gemstone industry. For instance, December's birthstone was originally blue sapphire. In my life, so far, I've seen it as turquoise, blue zircon, and most recently blue topaz. So, where whatever feels best to you. :)

At 9:19 PM , Blogger Adri said...

I see DataGoddess is calling upon us to spread bengal propaganda-- I mean, info.

Bengals ARE housecats, unless like our fabulous hostess, you share a home with early generation bengals (le Leopard, Their Majesties). They're just very high energy and smart-- so think of them like border collies or terriers. When mine were still on dry food, we left them for weekends without a problem, but now we have a sitter come in once a day when we're out of town (which is frequently, because I travel for work). If you're out of the house a lot, definitely get two so they can entertain each other. It's important to keep them entertained or they invent Bengal Games that you might not enjoy!

They do shed quite a bit, though many enjoy grooming. And many people notice they don't aggravate allergies as much as other cat breeds.

At 9:22 PM , Blogger Adri said...

Q- Our Festive Bush is quite resilient, as it grew in the famous Plastic Forests of Target. It's the kind that develops pre-lit buds as well, upon reaching store-shelf maturity.

I should also say, re: shedding, diet has a lot to do with how much animals (including people) shed, so a high quality food and regular grooming can drastically reduce shedding.

At 9:25 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

My cabs don't shed either Chantrelle. Snicker.

Ms Fabulous does indeed! And she loves purple!

Good points Adri, two are better than one. Very like border collies, they need a lot to keep them interested. Toy, fun, another Bengal.

I don't seem to have any shedding problems tho...

They will make you laugh with these Bengal games tho. Sometimes I can only laugh and ask WHY???

The early gen Bengals are different. I think you would not want one, if you had not had a Bengal before. Perhaps from a kitten, my EG guys have had a bad time of it before me. Can't say how it will turn out..

At 9:25 PM , Blogger Lexocat said...

Not only am I a Fiend, I'm now a brave worm, too! Hee, hee.

Chantrelle, you're the 12th? I'm the 11th! We'll have to have a virtual party and invite all the Fiends to wear their favorite gemsstones :) Oh, and I'm with you on the opals, too. Amazing things, those.

How exciting that Kali and Batman are a perfect match. Welcome to L.A., furry one!

Adri, what an exotic shrub you describe!

And if you like opals, you should also look at fire agates.

At 9:31 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Oh, Zanzibar is gorgeous. What a wonderful photo Adri.

All this talk of generational behaviour has me wondering. What is the difference in behaviour between a feral (ie domestic cat or from line of domestic) and true wild cat, ie Asian Leopard Cat?

Is bedtime for me. I have to take DD1 to school tomorrow, which means I also have to get DD2 up and moving, though she isn't as difficult in the morning as DD1. Then I might as well hit several stores since I will be out in the cold anyway.

Dream sweetly!

And I should have a Night Garden poem within the next week or so.

Think of the joy (and expanded vocabulary) alternate typing skills have bestowed upon Fiends. Though apparently I'm channeling Golem, what with the gemsssssstonesssesss.

At 9:37 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Yea for the Night Garden, have not forgotten that or the new website..

Good question Sally, not sure I have an answer. I know Bengals are very smart. I know the poor EG's I have are very scared. They have no reason to trust anyone, but then ferals don't either.

I have known some ferals that I have helped, and some I could not. I hope I can help these guys.

There is something a little eerie about sleeping in a room with something you don't know and is the size of Lear....

At 9:38 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Yesssss...what issss with these fire agets????

At 9:39 PM , Blogger DataGoddess said...

I'll have to figure out a way to bring up fostering/adopting with the husbeast, and waiting until he's done with the math class that's driving him bonkers would probably be a good idea.

I'm home pretty much all the time (telecommuting FTW!), but I still think 2 would be better, because you always need someone to scheme with.

And speaking of birthstones, I've always seen the december birthstone as blue topaz. It's my birthstone (and today is my birthday, as a matter of fact) but I prefer rubies, which is why my engagement/wedding ring has 2 rubies (and 3 diamonds, but you can't win them all ;-)

But what I want at some point are some black opals. Yummy!

Fire Agate definition and pictures

At 9:47 PM , Blogger Adri said...

Happy birthday DataGoddess! My partner and I both work at home and we have 3 cats (two bengals). It's an excellent arrangement!

Asian Leopard Cats like to swim and are very shy. Non-abused early generation bengals are the same, but bond very closely with their chosen people and are quite affectionate. Here's a video of my friend Julie's F1 (half bengal/half ALC) with her son. There are also some deadly cute bengal kitten videos in her video library-- you have been warned!

I've worked with ferals in their own habitats (trap/neuter/return and feral cat management), but never tried to tame them, so I don't have much of a comparison.

With that, I'm out for the night. Bath (Zanzibar has been in the tub already as it's filling) and then bed!

Happy Firbday, DataGoddess!

Chantrelle, my cans shed quite a bit of amber fluid in Summertime, when it's hot ;)

Black opals are the best, my favourites are the greenish ones. It's a pity a lot of Australians don't appreciate them.

Ariandalen, that sounds like a lot of stocking stuffers. Our kids get one child that they have to be nice to and buy a small present for, these last 2 weeks before break-up. The kids don't actually know who their benefactor is, they draw a name out of a hat.

Oh and Happy Birthday DataGoddess.

At 9:56 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Jacqui, when I say stocking stuffers, think party favors. Not quite so hard on the pocketbook as the same number of actual gifts.

Great picture of the Growly Quiche:)

All those pictures of Bengals that need homes..I so want one, but I'll have to wait until I have a suitable apartment..perhaps next summer. Meanwhile, I soon will get to cat-sit for a week for a friend of mine who's moving soon. :)

Poor little M. It's awful when your twinsels are swollend.

Sally I hope the callback is good news.

Aww Batman is besotted, that's great news!

Chantrelle I bet your ring is gorgeous..I love green garnets (and red ones too!)
Heck, I haven't met many stones I don't like, as my 2 big tackle boxes of beads (not to mention bookcases and windowsills strewn with crystals) can attest. Not a fan of diamonds though..much more interesting stones to be had. Emeralds, moonstones, labradorite, malachite, pyrite, amber, pearls..I could go on (but I'll spare you;). I don't remember who said black opals (jacqui?) but Oh MY I love those..too scared to get any though because of the fragility..I actually broke an opal once and it kind of traumatized me.;)

heehee..fire agates do look like spicy brains.:)

I think 5 is "Cat Enthousiast", 7 is "Cat Major Domo", 9 is "Cat Hostage", and 12 is "Cat Lady".

The "Mad" is a modifier that can be prepended to any of the above, as determined by crossing a certain threshhold of feline urine odor in one's house or on one's person.

I trust that Lorraine will not be crossing that threshhold. ^_^

G'morning, Phiala and Dan! And anyone else who's about.

Hello, lastlunatic, and Maure-- and happy birthday Datagoddess. :)

One rainy birthday
in December: remember
your lucky parasol,
and wish for sunshine.

Mad Catdladyism is a state of mind, I think. You know you're a Mad Cat Lady, say, if you buy collectible kitten plates from the Franklin Mint. For your cats to eat from. And you've named the cats pictured on the plates.

I love amethysts and opals too. My birthstone is ruby and I like rubies but I prefer garnets I think because they are usually darker. A love the dried-blood red. :)

Yes, Dan, you may be correct on the numbers there. I, now, only have 2 dogs and 2 cats so I am safe for now. I think maybe once a CCL that those tendencies persist. So we shall see what my future holds.

More coffee!!

Morning, Fiends!

First, yes, rescue Bengals and other beasties who need homes, by all means, though I suspect no Fiend needs to be told that twice. ;)

Second, happy birthday, DataGoddess! Welcome to the show.

Quiche, I cannot believe that there is an event where you pay $12 at the door for all the beer you can drink, and I will not be there. Life is indeed cruel.

Yesterday was just made of Epic Fail. Any day in which I run afoul of the Saltmine U. police department, the DMV, and the IRS, is a Bad Day on an epic scale. Couldn't make my appointment at Hair Police; couldn't go see Kitty afterward… not a good day at all. For the D&D-playing Fiends, I rolled 1s all day.

opals are amazing, but i'm also scared of them because of their fragility.

wow it's so hard to pic a favorite, i'd say rainbow moonstone and tourmaline are probably my favs followed by amethyst and fluorite. my birthstone is pearls, but i don't war them often, they feel so formal. i also tend to wear my jewelry all the time and never take it off, so i need durable stones and metals.

happy birthday datagoddess.

Happy (Slightly Belated) Firbday, DataGoddess!

Last night I went out in the snow to attend a yoga class, and it was a good one (I felt comfortable in Full Wheel, for the first time). During class the snow clouds cleared, to reveal a mostly-full moon, setting the snowy night aglow. Bliss! Went to sleep early. Which means I log on to read loads of Fiend chatter. Yay!

LOL at Dan's scale and qualifier.

I have broached the subject of Bengals with my guy. We need new catcans, when we can. DataGoddes - I find that if I suggest an idea many times to my guy, and let it digest, it sometimes evolves to become _his_ idea. ;)

Mmmm - stones. I just love 'em all. Usually drawn to amethyst, moonstone and sapphires, and lately citrine. Mine's ruby, too, Gayle - when's your bday? (I'm the 30th).

Dread Val, may you roll 20s today.

Oh dear, Val, that sounds awful! I hope today is better!

M is negotiating how much Tylenol he will take. He is either going to be a lawyer or director! :)

Na, my bday is the 15th. :) I really like moonstones too!

Who made this apartment such a mess? I tell you! I suppose I should endeavor to clean up. I need a wife! Or a Nanny. Or a robot.

Good morning Fiends! I realized in the video I posted, my Rocky is in the end of it! That's back when he lived with Julie several years ago.

Val-- worst day ever! I think you need some medicinal whiskey, a hot bath, and an entertainment form of choice. Call in gay and take a mental health day-- activism and relaxation.

At 9:56 AM , Blogger Dread Val said...

Adri, I don't know that it was the Worst Day Ever, but it certainly was spectacularly bad. At least I now have my cel phone back, which is an improvement.

I missed the memo about calling in gay from Gay High Command, I'm afraid. ;)

Val..yeeouch what a day. Hope today is better.

And Datagoddess, I forgot to post Happy Firbday yesterday (doh!), so Happy Belated Firbday.:)

I got about halfway down the comments and had to give up... not enough time right now... dammit.

Off to see Amanda Palmer tonight!!! YEAH. My friend and I have been working on a giftie to give her. We hope she will like it. We made (and are still making) a version of the 'CLUE' game... instead of CLUE it is Who Killed Amanda Palmer.... and you get to choose deaths like 'Amanda gets killed by the astronaut using acid in the laboratory' or 'Amanda kills herself by fire in the bedroom' or 'Amanda is drowned by Sarah Palin in the bathroom'... or shot in the school corridor ... or bludgeoned in the graveyard... or choked by piano wire in the conservatory... you probably get the drift... there are lots of methods of death and lots of strange rooms and different characters... all associated with her WKAP vids and songs... and imagination is key. heheheh... morbid but funny.

At 11:13 AM , Blogger Rubius said...

oh.. and it is all magnetic... sticking to the board.

we even made matching his and hers gravestones

At 11:20 AM , Blogger Arwenn said...

What a great idea - that sounds absolutely brilliant!! I'm sure it will be very well received....a

Maybe there could be a Fiend version some day listing various ways one could be killed in the Spooky House by bengals :)

At 11:50 AM , Blogger Jess said...

Like, Mme. Vous Vous killed by Mim, in the Sitting Room, with the Poowheel?

At 11:57 AM , Blogger Ticia said...

Rubius - you are so creative. What a wonderful idea. And I agree with Arwenn, there should be a fiend version.(Jess is already on it! - go Jess!)

Okay, I'm feeling a little under the weather today {like so many other fiends), so I'm posting a haiku here for fiends who are snifflers out there:

Haiku gesundheit
what a pretty little word
Sneeze-poem overheard.

At 12:08 PM , Blogger Rubius said...

I can't claim the creativity for this one... I bolted awake one evening saying 'that's what we give her... a Clue version of WKAP' and then went to sleep... it was when I told my friend Denise that the idea really came together... she came up with the deaths and the playset that she wanted to include (with a little soldier wearing Sarah Palin's head)... and the magnets... and she is sitting at my house right now putting the game together (carving foam, painting figurines, gluing magnets, writing up gruesome descriptions, etc) and I am mostly coming along for the ride (and I help with the detailing)... and I made the cover... and we will finalize it tonight before the show.

I like the idea of a fiend version... and yes... I think the poowheel must be a type of death.

I am very sad that of ALL the days this year my right ear has decided to be plugged for no reason (after all I don't have a cold) it would have to be today... when I have a concert to attend.

Spooky Clue Haiku:

The "fire" is a working battery operated tealight with flames glued to it. The acid/poison is a smashed test tube with hot-glue as the chemical.

Rubius - I HAVE to see pictures. That sounds absolutely magical!

And Jess - you are queen of the haikus! :-D

Nathalie! Are you feeling better?

At 12:17 PM , Blogger Adri said...

Rubius-- yes, pictures! What a creative and wonderful idea. I want to do custom Clue sets for all sorts of things now!

Oh, please, Rubius, will there be pictures? Sounds like a very fun project.

At 12:22 PM , Blogger Na said...

Ticia, there you go again, taking the words right out of my brain.

At 12:32 PM , Blogger Arwenn said...

On the scary-word-taken-from-brain-vain...Jess, the first one I thought of was Le Leopard and how there wouldn't be any contact, just a look.

This could be fun.....there's the ficus tree, the dress from Stardust, the vines in the Forest Bedroom, a 30-lb bengal.....:)

At 12:33 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

No wonder I'm feeling creative today - I'm sharing brain waves with Na! :-D

Or, as Ariandalen would say,"Yum spicy brains!"

At 12:35 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Arwenn, there also has to be something with a violin or the illian (sp?) pipes!

At 12:37 PM , Blogger Jess said...

Rubius - Great minds, etc.

Death by ficus! :D

At 12:39 PM , Blogger Chantrelle said...

Death by Uilleann pipes!! It was Mim, in the forest room, with Uilleann pipes!

What a brilliant idea, i love it. Ben and I play clue jr. all the time. It's not about murder but who stole the piece of cake at what time and with what drink. Cute.

At 12:39 PM , Blogger Jess said...

Hang on, I mean Arwenn (re: great minds). Rubius's mind is in a class far greater than mine. :)

At 12:39 PM , Blogger Na said...

And skulls aplenty.

At 12:42 PM , Blogger Na said...

Fast-fingered fiends! I meant there need be skulls aplenty in the Fiend version of Clue.

Hmmm. Another offing method could be getting one's skull mashed in... with Andre Tckaikoski's.

Here I was at home (not even in support of "call in gay day" - although that would be funny considering I'm the only straight girl at my work!) feeling sorry for myself. And you fiends have me laughing out loud!

Death by ficus - and Andre's skull! hahahha!

Oooh AFP videos - I'm off!

Nope - angels are perfect just the way they are!

At 2:26 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Okay, I've killed another thread!

The Amanda videos were fun Chantrelle - I'm looking forward to seeing her with you and your husband on Monday!

Back to Clue:

The Gorey kitchen should figure into a death too, yes? And maybe the slippery ice driveway?

...desperately trying to revive the dead thread.. which I killed...

Re: Spooky Haus Clue
But...shouldn't fiends be exorcised? Or brought back to life? Our Queen Empress is one of the immortals, right?
Or maybe you just don't die, you become undead. Of course, one of the methods is by Venus sitting on Mim with the USB cord. This is, of course, an arcane spell whose verbal component is known ONLY to Bengals.

Or just, "FOD SPAKE."

Gee. Can we count how many "ors" and "of courses" I just used? Must be on a roll.
::whistling::

Brilliant idea, there, Rubius!

At 2:39 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

You didn't kill it, Ticia. I just had to go retrieve DD1 from the bus.

Then it took me a while to type, because I was thinking. Dangerous thing, that. ;)

Sorry, everybody, about the wonky link. Blogger added its own URL before the correct one for fire agate pictures. And a caveat, fire agates are just as fragile as opals; maybe more so.

Ooooohhhh......Necropoly!!! There could be above-ground New Orleans-style properties, mausoleums, crypts. Instead of "assess for street repairs" there could be "discover ghoul gate" (as a nod to the Graveyard Book).... we have got to get in touch with Parker Brothers or something!

At 2:50 PM , Blogger Arwenn said...

The playing pieces could include a skull, coffin, tombstone....

At 2:54 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Been reading this thread today in lines at post offices and grocery stores, and while re-hydrating Pod The Cat, can't stop laughing.

And yes, the Fiends should exercise...

Home soon, and will get chatty again, just very busy trying to finish up with work for the day...And it won't BE finished!

At 3:03 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Oh! That's right... kitty hydration. How's that going Lorraine? Are you coping better than you thought you would?

Thanks for the reassurance Ariandalen, like I said earlier, feeling a bit sorry for myself today...

And is this lack of motivation thing a computer virus too? No fair!

Arwenn - "Don't blink"??? Like Dr. Who??? Only THE best episode EVER!

At 3:10 PM , Blogger Arwenn said...

That was Ariandalen's can't take credit for that......but thanks for explaining it, I had forgotten that episode!!! Brilliant :)

A Shrewdness of Fiends (Apes)

A Chattering of Fiends (Chicks)

A Leap of Fiends (Leopards...really seems most appropriate)

This is a great page for such things.

At 4:19 PM , Blogger Na said...

A pack?

Sorry Ticia - I was pulled away by one dragonet, then realized I was nearly late to pick up t'other from school. Didn't mean to leave you hanging. Oh - hanging! Must be a hanging rope in Fiend Clue or Necropoly.

At 4:24 PM , Blogger Na said...

Ooh, nice Chantrelle. I liked:

a grist of fiends (bees)

a battery of fiends (barracudas)

At 4:27 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Chantrelle - that site is brilliant.

I now nominate " A chattering of fiends" which by definition would only happen when a large group of fiends gathers in person. :-D

At 4:28 PM , Blogger Chantrelle said...

I don't know, when we exceed 200 comments i think you can call us a chattering here too!

At 4:32 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

HaHa! True Chantrelle... The search continues.

And thanks Na! But I already knew that! (we are sharing brain waves today!) HaHa! I'm just kidding... Thanks!

At 4:36 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Oh Fods, you are funny!!!

I could not pick one....

You will have to be pretty chattery to get to 200 before I do a new post, tho I must needs finnish up a bit more, and tend 5 Leopards.

Mim has DISCOVERED the frozen shrimp. I brought it for King Lear the Huge, to try and LURE him from his cave, we shall see....

At 4:51 PM , Blogger Na said...

Okay Ticia - what am I thinking NOW? Huh, huh? Nothing, haha! Fooled you!

Oh, no, you probably already knew that.

Do besouled-demon angels also get to be perfect?

At 4:55 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

DUH! It's the nature of the beast, Na.

At 5:04 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I think I missed something today, tho I do love this game..

Am I winning? As Empress I think I should. Mim just wants to kill things.

And you should know, tho do not tell, that the steps of the Spooky House are more lethal than the drive....

At 5:05 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

In fact, I think it's the duality in the nature of the besouled demon/angel that MAKES it perfect.

Nothing important in life ever comes without a price. There should be a little struggle within us all. That's what makes life worth living. The questions we ask of ourselves, within ourselves. The yin and yang of decision making...

I think the besouled demon /angel is the perfect metaphor....

At 5:16 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Lorraine, today on Facebook, everywhere Na went, I had been there just seconds before. (We were on the same wave-length).

It was VERY funny!

It's getting harder and harder for me to remember WHERE I've made comments.

At 5:25 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Ah, I begin to see....

Well, glad you Fiends are around, here I am home and it is the magic dissapearing Fiends, put that in your game, hee-hee!

And did you read about Rubius' awesome Clue game that she and a friend are making for Amanda Palmer? That was what started this whole fiendish game thread off....

SO creative!

At 5:36 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I did hear about that, and have heard back from Ms AFP on the subject. A little poem about me getting strangled in the basement with one of Boss's tee shirts...

Ooohh goodie! I really enjoyed the series. I watched a "behind the scenes" show with the Director Allan Ball, and I'm glad I did.

He PURPOSELY changed up the fangs. They differ from the "traditional" vampires teeth because he modeled them after SNAKE teeth. It took a little while for me to get used to it, but I'm nothing if not adaptable.

Ariandalen! You're here... It's going to be a race for first comment, I can tell! ;-D

I can't wait until ben watches the dvds i got him for xmas which are totally not true blood related but my brain is weird. I'm not reading true blood but i'm reading Diana Wynne jones again....Anyway, I got him the Miyazake films: Totoro and Howl's moving castle..and spirited away and eventually Princess Mononoke.
