And Now For Our Movie!!!!

I think the Licking the Chops photo of Selina Kyle there about sums it all up from yesterday. Still a lot of Fiends off and about visiting, and so I am sure there will be many more stories, the good and the bad, for us yet to come.

As you know, Kitty and I spent last night at the Spooky House, started with homemade from the Garden tomato soup, eaten at the table, complete, despite the risk of Cat Flambes, with Candles.

The first course being a bit too much for us, and it being rather late, we elected to do the second from the couch. Before we go into movie land, I believe it is important for our friends around the world to see the actual Can of Cranberry Sauce, in all it's glory....

And now, for our Main Feature Presentation! Mim's Thanksgiving!!

This was one of my first feature roles. I feel, as an actress, I brought a lot to my role. I play a women trying to keep her Thanksgiving dinner away from a Bengal!

My motivation was clear, and director/camera person Kitty was clear in her instructions tho I had a bit of a time explaining that Mim was not going to wait for her to call ROLLING, but this was an on-going process and she had better just jump in.
I
t is a fine movie! The drama! The chase! The hunt! Hot women in sexy PJ's! Bengals ripping and tearing into dead turkeys!!!! You can do a LOT in ten seconds!!!!

I give you, Mim's Thanksgiving!!!!!!

Love and Movies,
Lorraine

Not much tho, it's kind of short, hee-hee!

At 1:38 PM , Blogger gaypet said...

You have the best laugh! Made me smile.

Love the growl and look of, "Ha! I killed it and it's MINE!" :)From Mim of course. Not you.

At 1:43 PM , Blogger louisa said...

That was my first thought too, Gayle, the best laugh!

And yay Marjorie, you got first!!

At 1:44 PM , Blogger Marjorie said...

Short, but, I think the critics will agree, a winner!

The growl is impressive. (Alhough I can imagine you might find it came in handy if it WAS you, Q, when you have to be Queen of No)

Kali is looking very beautiful, too.

Ooh, and did you see, I was first!!

(Obsessive? Moi? Nooo)

You chortle! That's a chortle if I ever heard one.

"Mim!"

*Mimfreeze*grrrrrwhat?!?mine!!grrrrrrr

Selina is looking ten thousand kinds of gorgeous too.

ooh lovely. I remember that dance... move the plate to the left.. cat.. move the plate to the right... cat... try to look for a place for the plate... cat gone with your food.

ah,... good times.

oh Kali/Selina, looking good. I love her pose. Lip-lickin good.

At 2:03 PM , Blogger Marjorie said...

You do have a great chortle (and pretty great PJ's, too)

Was that a quick shot of Venus, at the end?

Also, apologies to Selina Kyle for getting her name wrong.

Off to bed now, but, y'know, party on Fiends!

At 2:06 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

not only do I laugh the laugh and growl - I want your pj's Q.

This has been the first thing to make me smile, and I laughed too, today. Fods bless you girls and the cats.

Ha, the begals are incredibly photogenic! (As, of course, are the humans in the spooky house, natch) Mim clearly knows what qualities make a star!

I hope all the fiends are having a fabulous Thanksgiving-- mine has been great except for a brush with identity theft that has been none too fun.

Back to more food! *sigh* It's such a hard job, eating and chatting with relatives, but someone has to do it.

At 2:33 PM , Blogger Jess said...

The camera loves you, daahling, but I have to say: it didn't look much to me like you were really trying to keep your dinner away from Mim. I found it difficult to suspend disbelief. Whoo! Mim's got some grrrr on her, though!

I am glad you and Kitty had a lovely Thanksgiving. :) And all the rest of you Fiends too! So did we, and now we're home. We ate too much, but that's to be expected; the butternut squash gratin (which I link for Rubius's benefit, as she asked) was a hit. Yay for squash hits. And a red-tailed hawk went swoopin' right by the kitchen window at one point. Whoa, dude! I didn't get a picture of him, though.

Lime-butter yams sounds yummy. I'm saving that recipe! So did Val and Malena make floss turkey in the end? I think I missed that bit. (Fab pictures, you two! Looks like a wildly non-traditional time. I love it. :D )

Good thoughts, hugs, and sympathies to Nathalie and Sally.

El: yikes! Hope all's well.

Now to upload bird pictures! Fun stuff! Tomorrow: Amanda Palmer gig. I wonder whether we'll be able to find a parking space.

At 2:46 PM , Blogger Siri said...

I finished my popcorn.

Loved the growl - that would certainly make me laugh.

Okay, mum update. She's been admitted to the hospital, no more trolley in ER CT scan showed no acute changes in brain, but they are going to do an MRI on Monday just to doubly check, so doesn't appear to have been a stroke. She is still very giddy and feeling disconnected from her body, but the nurse said she is in good spirits. So, so far so good.
Phew. Considering going back to bed now, I really had a cruddy night.
love and thanks to you all.

At 2:53 PM , Blogger Rubius said...

yeah... thanks Jess. you rock.

I love that you can see the lines of the can in the cranberry jelly. That's classic.

At 2:54 PM , Blogger Rubius said...

Sally, so glad to hear that. go take a nap. you deserve it. thanks for the update.

At 2:57 PM , Blogger Siri said...

I've been in that place, too, Sally, with both aged parents. Rest when you can, know that the fiends are sending the right energy. Glad she's where they can take care of her best.

At 2:59 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Oh, wow, Sally, it sounds like you've had an intense time! You've got lots of fiends thinking good thoughts at you. I hope they can help your mum feel more at ease, and that she recovers well.

Jess- things are on their way to being well, I guess. Hopefully I will get my money back, but I got all my stuff canceled before they could do too much damage. What a pain...

I love butternut squash, especially with pasta. Mmm, fall foods.

At 3:25 PM , Blogger Phiala said...

What fun!

And Sally, so glad to hear that!

No time for more, more family festivities today...

At 3:45 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Hurrah for Sally's Mum!!!!

The problem with the vid is that I was laughing so hard at the point, Mim was trying to, and kept making off with meat, before Kitty could get the camera going...

They ARE pretty stylin PJ's!

At 3:53 PM , Blogger Jess said...

Nothing comes between Mim and meat!! :D

Good news, Sally. Hang in there. Get some rest.

El: Oh, how awful. Glad you caught it in time, at least.

Hang on: I missed Nathalie's birthday! Happy birthday Nathalie!

Go forth and be festive, Phiala! :) For the rest of you, here are some Thanksgiving birdies. Also a couple of arty shots of my parents' geriatric cat. Whoopdeedoo!

Now I'm off to watch the end of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Crap Plot. (Manwife says they should have cut out all the Anakin-Padme junk and retitled it "Obi Wan Investigates." He's right, you know.)

Sally, I am glad to hear the news about your Mom. Hang in there.

I was going to put Thanksgiving pix (on Facebook) up but I look pretty hideous. I should get over it. The pie looks good though. :)

I hope you all are having a happy Friday. Dear Fod I need a night out!

At 4:06 PM , Blogger Rubius said...

Nice Boids Jess. Birdchick would indeed be proud, no doubt. I like hte shots of Bob best though. It's my kitty predilection coming out.

At 4:11 PM , Blogger Dread Val said...

Sally, that's great news about your mum.

Quiche, I agree with Jess... that did not look like you were trying particularly hard to keep your turkey away from Mim, probably because you were laughing so hard. Mim's got a fearsome growl!

At 4:29 PM , Blogger Rubius said...

Ah but Val and Jess... what you are failing to perceive in the video is the vast mind powers of the Bengals at work... you may see a cat sneaking food from a plate that seems like it is not being guarded well but really you are seeing the end result of fantastic mind powers... an epic battle with subtle interplay between the human mind and the bengal mind.... There has already been a complex and excruciating battle behind the scenes ... the bengals say (with their unlimited mind powers) 'give us your food' and after a struggle the feeble human brains simply must obey... they can try to resist, and they do "try"... but in the end it is futile. In the end the bengals just plain PWN.

At 4:53 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Rubious got it in one. I challenge any of you to come over and do better at keeping food away from Mim...

Sent the birdchick the link, they were awesome photos, Jess!

Kitty and I are going to see James Bond tonight. Is this a Good Thing? I haven't been to a movie, in a long time...

Help! I need a swift kick from someone to convince me to finish and send the newsletter that was due two days ago! I figure at least one Fiend will be glad to put the boot in.

The email ones won't be too late, but I have to snail-mail ten of them to our non-computer-savvy members...

Thanking you in advance.

P.S. Loved the growling and giggling, the birds and cats.

At 5:09 PM , Blogger EmilyLady said...

You will feel SO GOOD once you finish that newsletter.

Does that count as a boot?

~Emily

P.S. Does it drive anyone mad that I sign "Emily" with every comment? I just wonder about that sometimes.

At 5:17 PM , Blogger Fluffy said...

Gentle encouragement! What a great idea!

Frankly, I'm so absent-minded that having a name at the top and bottom of a post is a pretty good thing for me.

Okay, I'm off then.

Okay, its probably because I am having a True Blood marathon right now (good mum distraction) but would Lafayette suit Mr Leopard? I love Lafayette in the series, he is such a cool camp dude (well, apart from the drug dealing)

Oh, the growling joyful ferocity of a Mim successfully catching and defending her prey! Nice capture there, Mim, not that it was under your nose or anything...

And Selina Kyle on the floor after going, "What? Dude, hey!!"

Sally: Good news!

Also: Homesickness dictates that I must now crack open a can of Ocean Spray jellied cranberries. Excuse me.

You'd be surprised, Stacy, at how tasty it is. The color is a little off in the picture. It's more true on the table scene.

Really. It's not bad......

Lovely film. I am sure we'll be hearing all about it at Sundance.

Sally -- hugs. Aging parents is a hard hard thing. Glad that you have fiends to lift you up.

Emily -- we are already pretty much barking mad here, I do not think a little thing like signing your name could do much damage! ;-)

Listen little miss Fluffy. You write those newsletters now! Get to it! (but only if you want to.)

Pleased my birdie pics are pleasing! Hurrah. Thanks muchly. :)

Bond was good! I liked it. Go see it. Judi Dench is the best M ever.

Rubius: you are deep in the Bengal-Bee Alliance and I claim my five pence. ;P

Fluffy: GET MAILING.

*puts boot in*

At 7:52 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I saw Bond last night with some family and friends. I enjoyed myself, but I have a massive crush on Dame Judi so the whole thing was worth it for her!

(And Daniel Craig isn't all that bad, either, I must admit. I did spend a lot of the movie wishing Bond and M would hook up. Heh. I might have a dirty mind, yes.)

Sally-- oh, thank you. Things are looking up. No new charges have been made and on monday I'll sort out exactly what was fraudulent with the bank.

The scary part is just that they got my credit numbers! I do nothing online except pay loan bills and the occasional amazon purchase. Hopefully the bank can track them down.

El, my sympathies, we got swiped a couple months ago and someone had a PARTY in FLorida buying gas. The thieves can put a Thing, I don't know what, on the card reader at the gas pump, the station doesn't even realize, and they get all the info and simply make new cards.

Man. Thieves suck.

Ok, I am with El, no one says a word against Dame Judy ever. But the movie kind of failed with me.

I didn't, much care about any of them, and kept having moments of Huh? Plot-wise.

Apparently if one hadn't seen the last one, which I hadn't, there was a lot one might not get, and I kind of got it, but I just felt it didn''t WORK.

At 8:26 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Ok, I know it is Friday, and I know half the world is sleeping, but I am going to get a COMPLEX here, if Fiends keep dissapearing whenever I come around, hee-hee....

At 8:26 PM , Blogger Stacy Hurt said...

on Bond; I'm just not sure if it's because the first one was so fantastic or that the theme for #2 seemed to be revenge so at the end of the movie; one is left feeling rather cold.

I get the plot holes though. I felt the same way; I was nearly yelling at the screen... "If she was just an 'office girl' why they HELL would they send her out to get & restrain one of the most deadly, rouge agents in the first place??? She was (Fields) adorable and one couldn't help but snicker; "Oil fields?"

n e way; Dame Judi is 'da bomb'; as always.

At 8:30 PM , Blogger Na said...

Sally, that all sounds promising for your mum. Hope it keeps going so well.

Fluffy - I keep thinking of Nac Mac Feegle: "Ach, yer gonna get sich a kickin'!"

At 8:37 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I should see the first one.

Bit is a spoliler here, not that I think it matters to the movie, the plot has no surprises..

WHY was Fields naked except for a trench coat and why did she hop into bed like that? And yes, she was an office girl? And why did they send one women to bring him back??? WHy did she nip off, why was she killed in an oil thing? WHo killed her?

And why was there a 5 star hotel in the middle of nowhere in the desert? And why did they hear the single gunshot in the middle of the hotel blowing up, I assumed they were outside the door then Bond had to run down an entire hotel to get to the room where the gun shot was.

And WHY when he was about to shoot her as there was no way out of the burning hotel room, did he suddenly notice a canister of VERY EXPLOSIVE thing in the hotel room? (Yea, most 5 star hotel rooms have those....)

And if the terrorsits "secured the hotel" were there no other people, and why was the waitress so very polite and accomodating? And what happened to her?????

One just wonders....

Or am I looking too deep??Thee will never be another Sean....

At 8:39 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

And did Fluffy ever get her thing DONE with all this kicking???

One wonders again.....

And Emily, sign away, there is no right and wrong here, as long as there is no hurt done.

At 8:46 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ha, Ms Fab, I think the same thing when I post! So no, don't get a complex!

Spoilers!

I really felt like the bond films were more like one film with a two year long intermission.

I actually really liked the movie, but I can't figure out why.

I know there were a lot of plot problems and handwaving, and I was deeply disturbed by some of the treatment of the women (in a Bond film?! Gasp! Surely not!) but I still liked it. I dunno.

The whole Fields thing... man, I don't know, other than the fact that it's entirely possible that M was lying to feed into Bond's guilt complex and get him back to where he was supposed to be. Fields seemed pretty damn confident for an "office girl".

Some of the other things... the 5 star hotel, Bond finding a way out in the nick of time, etc, is just typical Bond handwaving. I think the scriptwriters just say "eh, all the villains are billionaires, they just have a 5 star hotel because they want it!"

The waitress was polite because the owners of the hotel were likely in bed with the new regime. I think it wasn't so much that they "took over" the hotel as it was they were making sure nobody extra was there. Security check, as it were.

Camille was pretty great, and I think the new movies are doing a good job of showing us how the man Bond was in Casino Royale became the many that Sean Connery made iconic.

...yeah, can you tell I used to write movie reviews? LOL I'm going to stop now, I promise.

At 8:48 PM , Blogger AletaMay said...

:snort:

Love the questions Q!

I have heard reviewers say that this Bond film is full of plot holes. I have not seen a Bond in awhile. I like the older ones. I may try these two new ones on rental.

El -- so sorry about the identity thing. SUCKS. It sounds like you figured it out quickly. That is good.

I got some stuff I needed to get done today -- much more to do tomorrow. Off to bed now. Night all you lovely fiends!

Oh my pine garland for the front porch is arriving tomorrow. Maybe I'll take some photos when I get it up. It is simple as holiday decorations goes but we loves it.

At 8:52 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

No, El, don't stop! You have a lot of great points..

(no one need ever feel they have to agree 100% with me here, livley discussion is always welcome, as long as it is lively discussion and not a troll-ish flame war, just a point)

I need to see the first one to understand.

And trust me when I say I have loved a LOT of movies with WAY more problems, books as well, if you like something , then it works and is good.

At 8:55 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Okay, first of all, much sympathy to Sally. I hope that relief for your mom and peace for you occur very very soon. And El -- identity theft, ewww. So sorry about that. Ms. Fablo, I loved the video! Cute and funny and yes, you've got a great laugh. I want to here the Director Miss Kitty yell, though! :-)

I feel hugely stuffed, erg. But the food was good. Now, back to Advent.

And the homework of confusing ickness is finished!! I finished the 65 pages of reading and the 2,200 words of writing, and dropped them like it's hot to my prof via the internet just 5 minutes ago, not quite 15 minutes before the end of the due date, and whew!! Now to start studying for finals, which begin Monday. Sigh. But by the *next* Monday, I'll be done with the semester for my classes and that will make the last two weeks of my work semester easier. I hope. I want to roadtrip during the break, I have to admit. It's been a hella few months...

Not a Bond fan, btw. The whole playboy aspect just irks me. But then, I don't go to the movies all that often. It costs too much and I'm too picky. :-) But it can still be fun to go with fab friends, er, fiends, right??

At 8:55 PM , Blogger Stacy Hurt said...

and let's not forget Mathis. I was all WTF??? I could go on; but I'm sorry; I'm going to rest from my 5 hour journey driving home; grocery shopping, making veggie stew for the weekend by relaxing with a glass of wine & watching something worth watching... Stardust... again... Now THERE'S a movie with some hotties & really no plot holes I could spot. Must be a great writer who wrote THAT one!!!

'Night ALeta! WHy do we keep missing eachother???I am finally here yet again and you are off to bed, sigh..

You SO have to stay up Nw Years with us at Charlies! ALL the Minneapolis Fiends do, we are the Anti New Years Party!

But I digress...

I state again, a movie can have as many things wrong with it as can be, but if you like it, it's a good movie.

I went thru a thing where I loved Mission Impossible 2, not 1 or 3 but 2, despite it being pretty bad and really not liking TOm Cruise.

Go figure.

At 8:56 PM , Blogger Na said...

I, too, am resisting the Was It Something I Said? Complex.

My guess at all the why did that happen? in Bond or like films is that someone had a stunt they wanted to film, so worked it into the plot. Cram too many o' those into a film, and it's skin over bones.

But. I haven't seen the new one. Enjoyed Casino Royale essentially, but go to movie theatres so rarely now that I've become extremely choosy. Er. Unless it's something the dragonets really want to see. Like the Chihuahua one. I still cannot believe I saw a movie with talking Chihuahuas. Worse - it wasn't Horrible. Or maybe there was something in the popcorn?

At 9:00 PM , Blogger AletaMay said...

Still here for a minute! Part of it is that I am really trying to get to sleep earlier these days. Really have to get over the staying up until 3 am thing and it seems if I am up until midnight I am screwed because I get a second wind or something.

Anyway we do keep missing each other here in Feindland. Sadly. :(

At 9:01 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Hi Aglalia! Glad it was good and no fun on the homework....OF COURSE you can hang with FIends and not see every movie, I never see a one except at home unless some one takes me like Kitty did tonight.

One thing Someone pointed out to me that I need to apoligize for, is I have been spelling your name wrong for a long time, I am sorry, I can't spell and here it is hard to read the keyboard, and it is a REALLY old sticky keyboard...

Very sorry...

At 9:06 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

No apology necessary (you were addressing me, right??). It's a bad punnish type of joke anyway, that old geeks like myself giggle over. :-) And like you, if I'm with good friends, even bad movies can be fun!!

And I am alight with desire to come to Charlies for New Year's Eve. I have worked the last umpteenth New Year's Eve and would like a fun one for once. Now if I could just figure out how to get Minneapolis to move closer to me...

At 9:07 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I know, it's weird, here you are, posting and waiting for comments...And no one is around and you think, uh, was it something I said???

And then someone comes on and there are 15 new comments, and things get lost.

I think we all, ME included, need to know there are ebbs and flows here in Fiend-dom and that is all it is.

(know too, if anything is ever out of line or not cool, you get to hear about it from me privately first, in a nice, what are we meaning way, hasn't happened often, and only once have I had to ban someone, and trust me when I tell you you have to WORK at it to get banned, can't be done accidently)

At 9:10 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I was talking to you! Perhaps I should call you Finch, she was a great charecter wasn't she? Or, alternativly, what would you like? I can learn to spell..

And just saying, the gig is AT a really cool old hotel....

At 9:12 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think it would be interesting to track how many comments happen at what time and then make a pretty graph so we could see the ebbs and flows of fiendom.

Nerdy, but interesting!

At 9:15 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

El, I kind of have an idea, watching more than most, it being my blog and all hee-hee, but are you volenteering for the job?

WHy do I have spell check on my computer at work with Firefox but not at home anymore??? Tis a mystery...

At 9:17 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well, my name is Grace, which is what Sue calls me and is easier to spell. :-) (See, Bulfinch's Mythology is one of the first books I ever read, waayyy back many years ago, that had all the old mythologies side by side, and, shall we say, ahem, cleaned up. And when he was writing about the three Graces, he spelled one of them Aglaia (there are, as you can imagine, alternate spellings). So there you go. Like I said, a pun only a nerd could love.

But honestly, I kind of dig it when someone refers to me as Bulfinch. That's fun. And you have a bunch of titles and names, so maybe we fiends can follow suit. :-)

And one of the best parts about this fiendy place is that there are people posting at all different times, so if you just wait long enough, someone answers! Which is often so nice to wake up to, or come home to.

And I've yet to see really uncool stuff posted here. You must have nipped it in the bud well and true, Ms. Fablo, for me not to even remember it! This doesn't mean I've always liked or agreed with everything written, but I try to remember that malice seems to be a stranger to this group. Kind hearts count for a lot, you know?

At 9:21 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hahahah um.

I tell you what-- I can collect information, but someone else would have to prettify it. I'm using a wrecky old laptop when I'm at home and basically all it can do is surf the web and word process.

But I wouldn't be opposed to evil scheming.

At 9:23 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Kind hearts count for everything Grace, I like that name, and having many names myself, I do know one can have many, but Grace seems to fit you, for me anyway.

And this does seem to attract people who belong, I just wanted anyone lurking about not to be afraid to de-lurk, none if us know what to say , we just talk...

well gee, I pop up to the supermarket to get some cat litter and other essentials, and come back to nearly 30 new posts. I am making Tikka Masarla for tea. Good Indian comfort food.

Q, I have the easy answer to your question - its a Bond film. Don't think too much, just sit back and enjoy the action. It been years since I've seen a Bond film though.

At 9:29 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Thank you, Lorraine. You just did my heart a bunch of good. It's been a rough couple of days, honestly, but you just really really helped. To you and all the fiends, thank you!

Oh, and I didn't film my animals eating turkey, but they were loving it. Poor old T.I. Kitty, he can't jump anymore, so he just sits and stares at the counter. he *knows* it's there, though, and he is willing to outwait us all!!

I am smiling. 'Cause I thought about delurking for some time before I did, and it was a sort o' fear. And then one day, it just felt plain weird to be lurking. Thought, these just seem like folks who wouldn't care.

By the by, I spend a lot of time in Excel doing spreadsheets. Think I can wrangle a graph o' something if you can give me the data. Willing to try, anyway.

At 9:36 PM , Blogger Phiala said...

I can prettify it if you collect the data. I'm good at that.:)

Ideally we’d cross-reference it with the fiend map and get everyone’s local time as well as referencing it to QST (Quiche Standard Time). Fun!

(and if this comes out as funny as it’s appearing, I have no idea why)

Y'know, and then you write a comment and it doesn't look like it sounded in your mind's ear.

I was meant to be agreeing, so effusively, this place does seem to attract kind hearts.

Bulfinch, hang in there! Semester almost over is good. I used to tell myself, "One way or another, it will be done in __ days."

...huh. Doesn't look like mine is cooperating. Boo.

Happy to help Grace, and glad you are here.

Glad all of you are here. This is the best group of people, and it is a truly a special thing, I am thinking.

Doesn't matter what it is, the Fiends ae the most un-judgemental loveing accepting group I have ever come across, ever...

Me thinks we do some good..Can't save the world, but we sure do make a part of it better, yes?

QST! That is perfect!!

And I have to admit that I am proud that I was able to work in a little of Ms. Q's nice Boss's "American Gods" into my homework on assessing adaptive behavior. And academically properly too, I might add. I quoted from a section early in the story, when Shadow is leaving the prison to go to Laura's funeral, and he's remembering the story of another prisoner who had answered the woman at the ticket counter like he would have answered someone in prison, and Shadow says to that prisoner, "Are you sure it's not something like 'The kind of behavior that works in a specialized environment, such as prison, can fail to work and in fact become harmful when used outside an environment?"

See, it totally works in a response about adaptive behavior! :-)

Hmmmmm . . . I might should go to bed, huh?

Yes. Make the part of it you're (we're) in better, and that betterness should ripple out and out.

Grace, Iam too tired tonight to think this one thru but way to go!

At 9:47 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Na, I say that to myself all the time: One way or another, this will be finished by --. It does help. (Learned that from C.S. Lewis's "Perelandra", oddly enough.) Oh, and I loved your Taoist joke earlier. :-) I was a philosophy minor, and my senior seminar paper was on the question of evil in the Dao Do Jing, which I'm probably spelling incorrectly, but I spent many weeks reading multiple translations, so I enjoyed the joke.

Wow, I am so a geek tonight. This is bad, and obviously a sign of turkey overdose and sleep deprevation... I promise, I'll fall asleep and be quiet soon!! (smiling)

Hugs to all and sweet dreams!

What's funny, that's the second time Lewis has come up, and I thought I remembered those books, but maybe not.

I was a Comp Lit major as an undergrad. I remember that end of the semester feeling of being oversteeped in various texts and Big Ideas and all. Brains start to feel like runny eggs. Well, that was me, anyway.

At 10:38 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Nothing you said Na.

I've just been off watching the final ep of True Blood. It had me chewing on my pencil, I am such a dork.

Hey, how did you girls do that different font?

bulfinch, good luck for finals next week. exams, yuk.

At 10:50 PM , Blogger Na said...

Hi Sally. I know - trying to make a joke, was I.

Going to have to google True Blood.

Well, all the houseguests and house denizens but myself have gone to bed, and it has been a looonnggg week. So to sleep. Sally, hope other fiends are around to keep you company, and that you're finding some reprieve from crazy day(s) you've just had.
**wonders what day/time it must be in Australia, and goes to check globe before going to bed**

Wow....

It is almost fun when my internet fails, and I lost a chunk of time here. Catching up is a surreal blaze of imagery and ideas.

More fun for me!

That said, managed to avoid most of the Bond comments (just cause I've found movies are more enjoyable w/the lease amount of knowledge and/or expectation on my part, good or bad) and THINK I'm caught up on the id issues....

My sympathies for Na et al. Trying to learn from this, but mostly having "ouch, that smarts" sympathetic thoughts.......

Happy to bounce around all of these Fiend thoughts as well--Since my access is unpredictable, to say the least, I have always enjoyed entering this ..sandbox, if you will....whenever possible and catching up on the dialogue. This is indeed an unusual and blessed place (uh, like, you all KNEW that!! :) )
and SAFE for lurkers and delurkers alike.

Boy, do I feel lucky....
and finally
Finchie Aggie Grace dear;
No such thing as too nerdy or too obscure (even if you occasionally have to explain the jest) 'cause we all love the game!

Sally;

I trust things are as well as could be wished for your family?

You are never alone here, when you are distraught you know we are concerned for you.....

Even if you ARE on the other side of the globe from us!!

Next time I'm in Korea, perhaps then I can sidetrack through Oz on the way home :0

At 11:05 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

No, na, it wasn't anything you said. I've just spent the last hour catching up on comments, when I should have been in bed sleeping. And before that, I spent an hour writing my own blog.

Hallelujah! Only two more days of NaBloPoMo!

At 11:06 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Now that would be cool Lys!

Sally
Goddess (or FOD) knows when I will be heading to Korea again, tho. Maybe March, maybe September (assuming we don't get sent to Afghanistan, but that is hopefully a safe presumption these days...)

Ariandalen;
I've decided you are right re birds and extraterrestrial aliens.

Growlly Mim is awfully cute.

Time to go catch up..

Lys, I'm glad you agree. Now we just need to find where ETRN is broadcasting from and solve that little problem. ;)

I'm off to bed as my knee is bothering me, and it's almost 1:30 AM.

At 11:47 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

all fingers and toes crossed that you don't get sent to Afghanistan...scary place.

At 11:51 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

DS--well, if there is anywhere remotely safe there...that is where we tend to get sent.

I don't go outside the wire much except when couriering or traveling by helicopter.

So I've heard lots of incoming....and witnessed explosions at a distance...but not so much close up.

I'm too good on computers to send out that way, I guess.... or not good enough a driver.

hard to tell....

Anyway, off to bed myownself.

But hugs to all the fiends....I raise a toaist toast to you!!

At 12:37 AM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

But you are not keeping your plate away from Mim, you are actually shoving it in her face!
But it's worth a good giggle. And Kali Minou is way too cute. Kitty is so lucky to get her.

That jelly on the other hand... Are you guys sure it is not a creature from outer-space? It looks like it could digest your soul on contact.

At 12:52 AM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Of course, Kristina having felt the double predatory fire of Venus AND Mim closing on her food, whe would know about what it takes to resist. I suspect she only managed back then because Mim was just still so young...

Good news Sally.

Nice birdies, Jess. It is always so funny to see the birds stacked along the feeding tube.

Nothign to contribute about Bond films (last one I saw was Golden Eye).

El, that identity theft is scary. The problem is that you often discover it fairly late. I hope you can recover most of it.

Haven't had time to catch up yet but I did notice that you will be playing at Charlies on New Years, Q! I will start looking for a sitter NOW! I so needed a fun place to go for New Years and hanging out with Fiends is the best I could have hoped for.

Good morning and good evening to all!

More coffee.

At 7:05 AM , Blogger Na said...

Sally, Lys, ariandalen - the "Was it something I said" was supposed to be 100% silly joke, in reference to preceding series of comments. I don't actually worry about it. Although looking back at comments... *thinks* still learning how to express myself clearly in the virtual world. Thanks for reassurances nonetheless!

At 7:12 AM , Blogger Marjorie said...

Bulfinch, thanks for explaining your name(s) - I also like whats been said about what a welcoming, accepting, and malice-free place this is.
I think the only other place/group of people who where I have felt so welcome and accepted was years ago when I attended Quaker meetings for a time. (The religious side of things didn't stick) Just as open minded and mutually supportive, but much less fun than here!

I've just got home having spent all morning shopping for gifts - I am so glad I got up and went 1srt thing, as it was absolutely packed b the time (about 11 a.m.) I gave up and went home. I thought thought we were having a recession? Maybe this VAT cut has stimualted people to go out and buy afgter all.

I am now wondering whether to give the bouncing eyeball to the cousin I bought it for, or to keep it for Tybalt to play with, as he seems to be enjoying it so much...

At 8:15 AM , Blogger ivenotime said...

Bouncing eyeballs! i think i would have a hard time giving that up! When we were at the mall yesterday, it seemed really empty compared to previous years, but i heard on the news that many are waiting for deeper discounts closer to Christmas.

I try not to rant but here goes: I have outdoor kennels, and my husband's friend agreed to feed and water Tank and Rocket Thursday afternoon at night, then morning and night on Friday. It was important as its quite cold here and their water freezes up. Last night we got home around 10 pm so I just got the dogs and had them in the house, and thought they were acting funny - they drank a gallon of water, rocket actually looked skinny (she's still a pup) and tank was so clingy i could hardly walk from one room to the next. so this morning i walk outside and look inside the feed box, where i had put the premeasured baggies of food labeled with their names....sure enough- no one came on friday, no food, no water since thursday night. i am livid and just sick about it. I dont have this guys phone number so left a msg with my husband, but even if something happened, there were 3 other neighbors all in town and close who could've been called. end of rant, going off to cry now, its been a hard morning, thanks for listening fiends :(

I feel with you! Poor dears!!!!!!

Going to drink tea and catch up....

At 8:22 AM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Awww... Poor doggies! And in the cold too. That is rotten. They will recover of course but it is still rotten. And irresponsible.

At 8:23 AM , Blogger Fluffy said...

Okay, bouncing eyeballs (good,) identity theft (BAD) and lots of movies (both.) And other astonishingly varied things.

Thanks for the nudges and kicks - the Fluffyville Garden Club Babes and Studs now have the shiny new December newsletter in their slightly grubby hands. I could do it in less time but I have a Mac and I can make it reeel purdy if I take some time, because it's tedious to reduce all the photo file sizes, etc., to keep the .pdf file under 3MB. I know! I sound like someone who knows what she's doing, don't I? Hahahaha.

I had my visa card number used by someone in London last year to buy train tickets. We nipped that in the bud (quick work by the bank) and avoided paying for a whole day's worth of someone's dream shopping trip. The nice person at the bank said some of the fraud is from people who just try random numbers until one works.

I will now brew tea and have breakfast - was up till 2:30 and just got up a half hour ago.

what a horrible friend. don't commit to taking care of beasties if you will not. and it sounds like you made it simple and no brainer. my friend always says her dog walks so much better after i watch him because i make him heel. if i don't he's a rotweiler and he'll be walking me.

funny movie, sounds like most had a good thanksgiving. Glad to hear some encouraging updates on Sally's mum.

Mother and brother-in-law have left!!!! it was nice to have family, but also nice to see them go. 1 bedroom apartment is not suitable for 4 people.

Wow, Stacy has good eyes. I require good glasses, me. (That's a Cajun-ism as in Trueblood, which is the HBO series based on Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire books. Love the books; the series, not so much.)

I just found out my printer does two-sided printing and is smart enough to use less ink when it does. And I had been doing it by hand. I guess I know who/what is the smarter one...

At 10:25 AM , Blogger Fluffy said...

I knew I was forgetting something. Poor dogs! I hope you are feeling better now that they have you back home. I know they are.

Family visits. Let's hear it for relatives who stay in hotels! My MiL does now since she got hit by a car 5 years ago (at age 85!!) and needs a handicapped bath. It's probably a real bad reflection on me as a hostess, but we have much better visits now.

What's amazing is that occasional dizzy spells are her only problem from the accident. The doctors thought she'd never walk unassisted again and here she is still traveling all over the place by herself.

At 10:54 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Oh Sue!! I am so terribly sorry for your dogs, and for you. They will be better soon, yes, but still. That is awful and I would happily join you in beating up the so-called friend (yes, I feel rather . . . violent about animal cruelty). I hope you are able to feel better yourself soon, and I know that you will give extra loving and care to the doggesses, and everything will get better soon. Tea, a fire maybe, dogs lying on the sofas, a movie like "Stardust" -- hope some combination of these or similar comfort measures are available!

Years and years ago, when I was about 12 or 13 or so and very stupid, I neglected an animal that was in my care (as much out of ignorance and fear of bad weather as anything) and I've never quite gotten over the guilt. Ultimately the animal was fine and my animal care level improved greatly due to said guilt, but I doubt I'll ever forget it. But an adult has *no* excuse, in my opinion!

Go Fluffy's MIL. I love stories like that, where people defeat the doc's pessimism.
Oh Q, I laughed when I read Boss found a friend, I thought poor man, after all this time he finds a friend now. Of course I know that's not true, but its early Sunday here, I'm allowed to be stupid.
I am so glad you all make me laugh. This morning's challenge has been cleaning up after Tys who brought up all her breakfast (kangaroo meat) in lots of chucks. Gotta be quick because of staining chances with the blood *sighs*

Hee-hee, very funny Fluffy! I think tho, most people would like a Gorey kitchen if they thought about it, mind you, they are prints, some signed, but not original THAT would be something else coo tho...She says wistfully...

I don't MIND spending bug money on hotels, in fact I am kind of a snob in the places I will stay, but it just seems so silly to spend that kind of moeny on a place we will be at for 7 hours, if that, and will spend sleeping.

Yes, Boss found a friend, we are very happy for him. And us!
