Let Them Eat Cake. Or Write My Blog. Either Works For me.
I have been getting some cool things lately from people, and so it being late and today being long, I thought I would let them write tonights post, as they are all wonderful!
First off, this from our artist friend Kelli Bickman, pointing us at a friend of hers website. She sent it to me saying she thought you might all like it as there were a lot of SKULLS going on, and she could tell how we felt about such things. (HOW one wonders, hee-hee) Thanks for thinking Kelli, you were right, the site is wonderful!
We haven't heard from Hera lately, our Icelandic friend in a while, so I was glad when this pic came in, in the course of the great address update today. She is back down in New Zealand with her Freaky Pets, working on a new video. This vid she sends us is not the new music, but fun all the same.
(Brjann is the only Kitty I know who could win a Who Is Freakier contest with the Bengals)
And finally, Janet, aka Bengalgirl, aka the Women who does all the work at Great Lakes Bengal Rescue, sent me this that someone had done with a shot of her Bengals. Gotta love it!!!!!!!
Thank you all for sending! You sure did get together at the right time to save my post tonight! It was -14 driving home (-29 to you C people! I think.) And the temps are falling. Need some warm, and some sleep! Till say SPRING!
Love and cold,
Lorraine

Warm thoughts and sleep to you!
Love the pix, thanks!
Gayle! You got in first! Way to go being UP!
-14?! Brr. And to think, I've been shivering all day in the 49F weather here. Stop laughing, Quiche!
I like the Black Books virtual watching-by-proxy idea. Of course, you all could just come to my office, where I say things like, 'By all that's holy, don't send me 60 individual files, as I am Not In The Mood,' and my minion says, 'Right!' and then proceeds to send me six files.
Sigh.
I did spy
with my Seeing Eye
a spicy Brain
for ariandalen!
Days do get like that, don't they Val?
I wear a floor length mink I call my "Narnia Wardrobe Coat" when it gets this cold. (buy a new fur, no way, duh, but wear an old one from the 40's someone gave to me when it is THIS Fodding cold, oh yes! I ain't wearing it to show off with my jewels...Not a lot of people look askance in this part of the world...)
It is so cold you can die. Quickly, if you are not dressed right, and this is not as close to as cold as it gets.
Where IS Adriandalen tonight, she ought to be popping by soon, cackling maniacally no doubt, delighting us all...
I sort of saw this Black Books thing today, but I was pretty busy and didn't get a chance to spend much time reading...
Seriously! What am I doing up? :)
It really is so cold. It's so cold that when I take the dogs out to go potty they just look at me like, "Are you kidding me? Would you pee out here?"
OK. Off to bed. Sweet dreams all!
I am definately not coming to visit you in winter Lorraine - how do you survive those temperatures?
I've just been out playing in mud...bailing out a big puddle at our water metre to check if it was created by a leak or the recent rain. The pipes appear to have sprung a leak. In five minutes the whole hole had filled up with clean water again. The Man is coming to fix it.
There is something enchanting about Sphinx cats.
'Night Gayle!
I took Cabal out for a BRIEF and anything uncovered hurt when I got back in. No fun, she mutters, no fun at all. Warmer tomorrow. 5. Above. With snow.
Is the email follow up comments playing up for anybody else?
I have been hearing things about the follow up comments...
I have a wonderful coat I got second hand here. It's the warmest thing, long, black, and has faux fur all through, even the hood. I recently had the thought, "I hope no one thinks this is real fur." And then I thought, "Real fur. That would probably be Warm Enough." I like that yours is vintage. :)
Sally, I don't know what you're seeing, but I would believe that Google is buggy - anything to do with blogs lately, I click then hold still and hold my breath until something posts, lest it float out on the ether...
Sally, visit during June....that was when I first went to Minneapolis. But be careful...they will suck you into the magic of the place!!
na;
I have issues with fur EXCEPT for people who live in those sorts of areas. Because, honestly, it is THE most effective warmer. Say what they like about microfibers and fleeces, NOTHING will keep you from freezing (and possible save your life) like fur.
So vintage furs from a poor animal gone for decades? What better use can they be put to now, than saving skin (and maybe lives...)
Just sayin'
I can well believe I would be drawn in to the magic of Minneapolis.
Hmm, Google being buggy. I hope they are working on it. I hate having to sign in all the time and leave extra comments.
Lys - that makes sense to me.
I feel the same way about wood furniture - I'd rather get old pieces than contribute to the taking down of more trees, if possible.
Did that make sense? It made sense when I thought it. Getting fuzzy. And it's COLD. The cold is creeping in the windows, double-paned though they be.
Time to crawl under warm, warm covers. Here's wishing all fiends better luck with dense minions and misbehaving computer programs on the morrow. 'Night.
No cold here but it looks like we will need an arch soon.
i like cake.
and Dread V, 6 is good hedge against 60.
rainy LA is pretty magic.
just got home and found BAtman playing hide and seek with Selina Kyle, i mean, really, is this invasion of the cat snatchers, what the hell happened to my crusty bastard of a cat? A kitten happened,
and she is already president of this administration, been here only one week.
egads that is cold. i was complaining about 40 and rainy. well complaining because people in lala land FREAK OUT about rain. now i understood in south Carolina when it ice stormed, that's truly dangerous. his was regular rain, not hurricane swirly hard rain. silly buggers.
sending warm thoughts to all tonight...
Well there is rain and there is rain
(last weekend in Rome)
Fods that's cold. I'm felling pretty chilly here (I see ice on the car so I'm guessing somewhere around freezing) but I think it's mostly just because it was so much warmer in Turkey. I was sitting in the sun drinking Chai overlooking the Bosphorus only yesterday, and I haven't adjusted yet.
Hope you and the kitties are all snug and warm indoors..
Amanda Palmer was Fabulous! If she's going to be in your area, you must run, do not walk to get your tickets.
It is 1:30 am here, on a work night, so I return you to your regularly scheduled program.
:-D
I didn't know that you could get cats to perch on your arm like hunting falcons. Hmmm.... No one would ever expect to have a cat flung at them. But will they return with their prey?
It is frigid here too, tho the winds finally died down this morning - yesterday was brutal. the woodstove is having a hard time heating the house which is unusual. i don't own any furs, but wouldn't mind in this weather! stay warm all!
*brrr*
That's in sympathy, as it's fairly warm here, and I have a fuzzy blanket and a dog. We are supposed to get another ice storm tonight, though. :-P
I have a morning full of meetings. Overlapping meetings, no less.
Oooh, overlapping meetings! My favourite form of wasted time! (NOT)
So far I have managed to avoid the curse this week (but we are only Tuesday afternoon).
Take heart.
Actually, it works out well for once.
The "good" meeting was scheduled before the bad meeting, and thus serves as an excuse to leave early. Or rather, before we were TOLD about the bad meeting, since apparently it was on the boss's calendar several weeks before he bothered to tell the rest of us.
I get to go to the horrible staff meeting roughly long enough to give an unexpected cash award to my minion, then run off to the meeting where I get to actually talk about research.
Aw- Hera and her naked babies.
No Dan, why would they bring their prey back? They're cats! They own us!
That's not perching on her owner's arm, that's just a portable Cat Throne. Hera is the humble bearer.
Silly.
All the way up to -11. Going to work.
Have a good 'un all you Fiends.
Organtastic pendants, Batman! And that's a lot of sphinx kittens. I like their big ears. :)
So does anyone else around here use Twitter? I just set up a Twitter. (I guess that makes me a Twit.) What's it for? I've only been on there for seventeen hours, and already I'm bored.
Brr, brr, brr. It's not terrible here yet but it's supposed to get well icy later. Stay warm all of you there in sub-zero land.
I set up an account to follow the live blogging (or rather live twittering by Dan from when he was visiting Lorraine) but since then I have not used it (nor see any reason why I should).
Morning all. I am trying to work up the motivation to get in the shower. Anyone else ever gone outside with wet hair in this weather? It dries really fast. Freeze dried hair! Of course the scalp is not so fond of it.
Does anyone in this area know anyone who babysits? I need a sitter for New Years, the hardest night of the year to find one.
Gayle - I'm with you on the haircicle thing! I have curly hair too so blow-drying isn't really an option :(
Yikes, Nathalie those pictures are frightening.
Morning, Fiends!
Jess, I use Twitter -- you, and any other Fiends, can find me there as culfinglin. I use it mainly for things that aren't quite worth making a blog post out of, or as a quick way of sending SMSes to people I don't necessarily want to have my cel phone number.
Coffee now, catching up on comments later.
HA, ha! Haircicle. Ya, if I try to blow dry my hair I end up looking like this!
EXACTLY!! So, scarves and hats and hoods and wet hair at work for me! I always intend to be smart and wash the hair in the evening.. never happens, ever.
I found you, Val. :)
I've been using Twitter to be facetious. Only I've got a couple of people actually following my feed-- so now I feel an obligation to be interesting. I'm thinking it can't lead to anything good.
Oh, Gayle: it's always something. :D
ooh i remember haircicles! used to drive my mom nuts that i would walk to school with wet hair.
missing afp, boy's shift just got changed because someone at work is going on paternity leave.
i've just started using pingfm t change my twitter, facebook and such at once.
It is, Jess. :) I opted for the hair up in a bun today. No product necessary.
Off to run errands and get more coffee! Have a nice day all.
Return wit their prey, snicker.
I don't know twitter, but I do know I do not have time for it. End of story.
Off and running I am today....chatter me nice things, and more about the show last night!
oh. just looked at the title of this blog. i want cake. cake would be quite tasty right now as i have to go to work and a chocolate diversion would be most welcome. even a vanilla diversion would be, heck I'm not picky! yummmm, maybe i will stop by the bakery on my way out...
My departure has been delayed.
M just said, "I don't think I need to go to school 'cause I know everything." Hm.
Ask M how Saturn's density compares to the density of water. If he doesn't know, he has to go to school today. ;)
Hint for delayed Moms
Or ask him how the Kelvin scale compares to the Celsius scale. Right now it's a whopping 258 degrees Kelvin here.
Dang, couldn't get to your link, Jess. Must be the international border. Still can't see BSG webisodes. :P
That's a bit nippy. Best wear a scarf.
Speaking of Saturn.
Ben tells me he knows everything all the time!!
very tired. Like ticia, we got home at 1:30, have ants in the kitchen. Must drink tea and clean...tea good, ants bad.
Show rocked, took ultra crap pictures and a video of the song she played that she just wrote yesterday morning and had never played....awesome.
Off to clean up little 6-legged buggers now though, back later.
SPICY BRAINS!!!!!!
I CAN WEAR SPICY BRAINS!!!
WEAR spicy brains?
Isn't that a tad kinky?
Eating would be fine, but wearing?
You have to admit that the particular spicy brains in question are highly wearable.
I was at HOT Spinners and Weavers party last night. I had Stilton with dried cherries on sesame crackers. YUM! We also had rotisserie chicken, green salad, brussels sprouts with hazelnuts, a glass of blush wine, candy bar pie, chocolate dipped peanut butter Wheat Thins sandwiches, and hot buttered rum. Came home, watched the Human Blockhead episode of Scam School downloaded via TiVo, went to bed.
Granted, I had to take DD1 to the doctor yesterday because she woke up with a possible case of pink eye. Shot the heck out of my afternoon, though we did have a late lunch with DH. The topic of conversation was the meaning of "autonomy." Both daughters came to the conclusion that you would have to live way out in the wilderness to be literally autonomous. Then we found out that DD1, who had asked in the first place, had mispronounced "anatomy." She was then grossed out by the meaning of anatomy, even though she came across the word in my large book of clip art under the chapter titled "Medicine and Anatomy."
Did I mention that my daughters are seven and five?
Next subject: automata.
Maybe when they're a little older. :D
Keep warm and think of spring.
Val, you are shivering in forty-nine degrees?
You. Are so. Lucky.
I was just on Boss's blog -- very nearly leapt out of my chair upon reaching the bottom of today's post.
~The Masked Fiend
Ants! Ants (and bees) fascinate me, so long as they're not in my home. ;)
Unsolicited advice: a dusting of cinnamon where the ants come in usually works well to discourage them.
I'm sure cinnamon would deter them, i want them dead...aren't i mean?! I went and got the Grants ant trap thingies. THey've worked in the past. I guess this is getting me to get my kitchen totally clean for xmas!
I shiver here at about 45. Last night it was 40 heading to AFP. I was a whiny little thing! We had to walk about a block :P
Masked Fiend, I see what you mean. Although Jess' automata are even more disturbing. Such things are my nightmares made of (and thus NO talking dolls of any kind are allowed in our home).
No, you gots to squish 'em to get 'em out of the home. Sad but necessary.
I meant, once you squish 'em or wash 'em away, cinnamon can help keep them from coming back in, until you wall up their entry point.
The upside of living in a freezing place is... precious few bugs in the home!
Important!!!!!
Gayle, Beez, Aleta and El!!!!!
Please e-mail me your last names!!
I am buried here trying to find your e-mail addresses and remember your real names.....
Other Fiends, do not worry about this. You will forget you read this until the proper time. You will wake re-freshed....
Hey I am not to bed yet (it's only 20:58) I am not sleepy! I am not sleepy. I am not............
That's strange. Suddenly I'm feeling sleepy. Sleepy. Very, very sleepy.
Masked Emily: Gaaah!! :D
Ants hate ammonia (Windex) Spray it on them - they die. Sprayed in their path, they get very confused. When I lived in Greece I would spray it on the legs of the bed to stop them, crawling up looking for crumbs
Na - Not even Baby Beans? I had Baby Beans. (Actually I think I still have her, somewhere.) She wasn't creepy. Just snuggly. :)
Snuggly to most, perhaps.... years of Alfred Hitchcock and Twilight Zone have irreparably warped my brain and I'm now pretty well freaked out by anything that could blink.
Baby Beans never blinks.
Oh. Wait. I think I see what you mean, now.
Curiously, I felt very, very sleepy a few moments ago. Better now. Hmmm.
Jess - going to have to say Ew! even if Baby Beans doesn't talk. I think it was the clown doll in "Poltergeist" what cinched this aversion for me. Twilight Zone, oh so cool. Night Gallery on the other hand, creepy creepy.
I'm afraid she does talk, Na. But her lips don't move.
You may wake. You feel rested.
El, Beez, Aleta and Gayle, I no longer need your last names. Nor do I care. See your e-mail.
You'd think, wouldn't you, when you're in a drought state and the government is telling you you can't water your gardens and you should be having 4 minute showers that if the water company was told there was leaking water they'd fix the leak quickly?
Nope, they wouldn't.
Just saying. Now Off To Catch Up with Comments
Okay, so the Water people must have heard me type at you - The Man is here now.
Jess, that hypnotisim clip was brilliant.
I rather thought Boss looks like he has odd John Lennon glasses on!
AFP was incredible. I got there early, so I was able to people watch. So many people came in wonderful, creative outfits. I got to see what Victorian Goth looks like up close and personal.
I saw at least one person dressed as a "Coin Operated Boy". SQUEE!
Many people came in groups dressed like grieving Victorians (AFP - dead) and one of the groups wandered around singing "Amazing Grace".
One woman had removed the wicker seat from a wooden chair and wore the chair like a skirt (with the back-rest behind her and the "seat" surrounding her at hip level). The chair hung from her shoulders by a pair of leather suspenders attached to the front of the seat and the back of the chair. She barked at anyone who got too close...LOVED IT!
Fod, I love living in the SF Bay Area! Such diversity and creativity.
And AFP has the most amazing voice......
Lennon glasses, Sally?
I hadn't thought of that.
I'm going to take another look.
Still creepy but at least this time I knew what to expect. And after a few moments of looking at it, I COULD see the Lennon glasses.
OK, kittie fiends - here's a link to a kitten that owes its life to a fireman with a vacuum cleaner.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/7445896.stm
Thanks for the report, Ticia - it's inspiring to hear about so many lively minds. :)
And Jess, again I say "ew!" No offense to your Baby Beans.
Lively minds... spicy brains....
It's all good, right Ariandalen?
M has been told many times that until he figures out the cold fusion thing he has to stay in school. No pressure.
Tonight it took me 1 and 1/2 hours to drive home. It usually takes me 15 to 20 minutes. Not so fun! I am going to be very crabby if this continues!
I was a Nanny for two toddler boy in Berkeley many years ago. They had this toy that when rolled across the floor would "sing" nursery rhymes. The problem was that sometimes it would just turn on when it was in the toy box. I would be sitting and reading during the boys nap time and, in the most demonic/twilight zone way, the toy would start "Hickory Dickory Doc". Very slowly.
OK, so the video itself sucks but AFP played a song last night that she had just written that morning and it's incredible. The people Ticia and i were behind would not stop moving their heads around, at least they stopped talking for this song. The sound on the video is great.
Hope you enjoy!
Meh. Chantrelle Youtube says the video is unavailable.
Gayle, what a nightmare drive home...and spooky toy tale.
we now have a brand new mains water tap out the front and a huge mud bath. It was all fixed before lunch time.
dang it, still "processing"...it'll show up at some point!
There have been some of ben's toys that scare the bejeezus out of me at night in the toy box too. I hate noisy toys!
I have a irrationally huge fear of clowns...they're just evil.
Sally, glad to hear the water issue is fixed. I will check back for the video. I hate noisy toys too. I have often thought when M was given something horrible, "Ya, that's gonna get broken!"
OK, the video just started working :)
Song definately has wow factor...and we could see a little of AFP;)
thanks for posting it Chantrelle
Wow! Thanks for posting that vid!
"Killing things is not so hard it's hurting that's the harder part"
Gonna go cry for a while now.
Oh wow. :O
And the trout's in it!
Gayle- I almost cried when she sang that line too.
I love songs like that that have a wonderful sound and great lyrics.
The one about trout Ticia?
(No, don't hit me)
Yep, yep, yep! It's all goooood! ;)
The song, too. ;)
Chantrelle, the video of Ben counting votes is just adorable!
Thanks Sally :) That was a wonderful night!
I am eating wasabi peas and waiting for laundry to be done. Good times, good times!
I am going to sign off now tho so I can get lunches packed and blah, blah, blah.
Night. :)
Yes Sally, the trout song. But it was the killing/ hurting line that got me! (blows a raspberry at Sally).
I think that I shall go to bed myself. DD1 has to be at the dentist's for her semi-annual cleaning at 9:40 AM tomorrow. Then it's off to buy pecans and walnuts, and who knows what else.
Dreet sweams everyone!
Great AFP stuffs.
Gayle -- it took me an hour to get from my house to downtown MPLS. Yeah. It sucked. I was driving a) during rush hour and b) when the most snow was falling and c) with faulty windshield wipers.
I did have a lovely holiday dinner with my lovely friends and one of our favorite places (Monte Carlo).
Driving in winter can be hard... but I do have to admit that the world does look really lovely tonight. The snow is the dry sparkly kind. Maybe some snow photos tomorrow!
Pretty amazing song , I have to agree on all counts, the killing hurting line could be one of the most true things ever said.
Wish I could have seen that live, I do. Amazing too how much came thru when you couldn't even much SEE her, except briefly, the sound was just fine tho, and more than enough.
Yes, snow. LOTS of snow. Lots of work too, and now it is late and I have nothing left in me for a new post, alas.
Nothing to say.
Not one thing.
Even the Bengals are boring.
Oh, I fell on my BUTT at an SA, but I wasn't hurt, just my dignity, so I could not sue them for millions, sadly, but even that excitement is beyond me working this into a new post.
Oh, it is SNOWING.
Oh. I mentioned that.
Might be tired, and I am getting up REALLY early to ride before work, which I will hate until I get there.
FabLo--so if we offer to kiss it and make it better, would that constitute Fiends en masse Kissing Your A...okay, you get the idea and I'm dead meat, right? :)
Sorry you fell, however, and DO hope any bruises (even to dignity)fade quickly...
Aleta: Monte Carlo!! Yay!! I'm so glad to hear news of a favourite restuarant. It was definitely one to go to only when in the mood....or if you just felt like chopped liver! They still do Sunday brunch?
Well, I may not have anything to SAY, but that doesn't mean I don't want to talk to you, my disappearing Fiends....
Good news, looks like Thursday night we get some snow that makes this little sprinkle look like a walk in the park!
Hey Lys! I was just writing to you as you were commenting, how very cool.
It did weak a little havoc with my right arm, which is never happy. Seems to think I gig too much and the tendons rebel. When I am an old lady I shall have to tape the bow to my hand...
Aww. Sorry you fell on your ass and work was long. :(
It's been a long day here, too. I'm trying to make deadlines; it's doable, just going to be a lot more work before the week's out. And yes, I'm still Freezing to Death in the 40ish weather. ;/ That's like, the temperature inside my fridge, dude!
Hope your poor butt feels better when you wake Lorraine.
More snow? Maybe you should be getting a sled to go with the horses -nice green way to travel!
While I am sort of glad that I am not the only fiend who falls I really am sorry to hear that you fell. It sucks. And most likely you'll feel some aches tomorrow. We use funny muscles when we fall I think.
I have never had brunch at the MC but I have heard good things about it. We tend to go with the traditional martini and chicken noodle soup there. Oh and calamari.
Night Fiends. You guys are great! Maybe when fiends gather in Mpls we can take a field trip to the Monte Carlo!
So that's a bag of herb soak for your bath and a jar of drummer's salve for your arm.....I got it! :)
Val; you know if you spend even one winter in Minneapolis you go back to LA SOOOO much cooler :) The first Thanksgiving after my big move (from Berkeley to Mpls, that is)I spent four days on Catalina Islands with a lot of friends for a big wedding. We did a lot of activities (such as rollerblading) and the temp was around 58 to 62 degrees every day. I wore halter tops and shorts to every casual outdoor event!
Kind of always did want a horse and sleigh. Kind of always wanted to try mushing too.
Cabal's trainer does a sort of cross country ski thing with her dogs, may see if Cabal is interested, the sport has a name I just forgot it.....
Of course, then the two tours in Iraq kinda ruined me the other way. sigh.
I guess if I had, uh, been wearing boots instead of my slipper things I might have had better traction...It all just seemed so simple tho...
Lys, they kind of would, wouldn't they, no one gets to complain about heat around you I bet.
Just glad they didn't ruin YOU and you came back sane and sound!
Have you guys heard that there is a security thing with IE at the moment?
Sally;
Oddly enough, the security warning came to my Mil account but not my civilian one. I'm not sure I trust it, to be honest....
Suspicious much, me? um...well....YEAH!
Rainnie--well, we DID have air conditioning a good chunk of the time :)
Night fiends!
Just out of curiosity, what browser do you use? I can't get Firefox to work since I got this new laptop with Vista (it doesn't respond)
I've just downloaded Chrome to try as an alternative to IE
for all of you, who like me, get annoyed at flowcharts
humbug
Well I must say I quite liked that video of the kitten being rescued by a vacuum cleaner. Good on the guys for thinking outside the box and getting the little fellow back to safety.
(Can't see the AFP video right now - tonight).
Okay, I'm going to mention that thing we talked about, Quiche...
To the Fiends:
I have a web-acquaintance in Romania (she is on another Forum I occasionally hang out on while waiting for my avatar to complete something) who is a total Romanian Goth Girl.
I can't post pictures, but she is up for Goth Girl of the Year (she already got Goth Girl of the Week) on this web site Goth Girl of the Week and there is a picture of her there. If any Fiend felt so inclined as to go there and vote for "Alia Noree", it would really make her Christmas!! Her name is on the right side, third from the bottom. Her picture is nearer the bottom as well, I think.
Thanks for your time and attention; now back to our regularly scheduled programming!!
(wonder how spicy the brains are in Romania. Always wanted to go there....)
Sally, I haven't met anyone likes Vista. :( And I thought Firefox played nicely with everyone. Phooey! Hope Chrome works for you.
We've had the dry sparkly snow a lot today, but tonight! Tonight it turned into the big swirling clumps of snowflakes you can see with your naked eye (no fancy cryoscopes needed). Gorgeous. I stood outside for about ten minutes just watching it come down and pile up.
Hope you're not sore tomorrow, FabLo. Falling fiends. Ya'll just gotta stop that! ('Though I'm likely next, nearly went down on some ice this morning. Urgh.)
G'night/g'day.
Sally;
My mother has Vista on her otherwise wonderful laptop, and she managed to make Mozilla operate on it. That said, it might be because she downloaded it months ago...it has been automatically updating itself recently and being more difficult to work with. Still better than IE from her point of view, however.
And because one just can't leave well enough alone....typos R us:
for Catalina Islands
(plural)
please read
Catalina Island
(singular)
for, as everyone knows, there is only one. Sigh.
I think I'm one of the few who does (so far) like Vista....we'll see if that lasts though.
I am not having any troubles, but I use Firefox on a mac...
Cool Lys! I will sure go vote for her, do you think she will be a Fiend????
I need to go to bed but it is way to cosy here by the fire. I will be sore tomorrow, but I think it has more to do with an early morning ride than a mere slip on my butt.
I have a suspicion it might have something to do with Zone Alarm rather than Vista.
Off to do some googling about it. I miss my Firefox.
Ah but first I went and voted for your friend, Lys. Hers was a good pic!
I've been snorkling at and camping/hiking on Catalina. Fond memories of places there. Halter tops, though? I'm guessing a certain decade...
To sleep.
Fods Lys! I voted for your friend, but I am glad you picked for us! They are all so lovely!
Let her know we are with her and wish her luck!
Thanks, FabLo and NA!!
Actually, I think she might well be Fiend material. She reads a lot and finds obscure music. She types much better in English than I could ever hope to in Romanian....
Besides, she lives in one of the most Fiendish countries, don't you think? or is that just me??
Oh, and WARNING if your speakers are turned up. There is interesting music on the Goth Girls site! I'm listening to the Cindi Lauper tune "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" as covered by Emile Autumn from the VampireFreaks music label.
Okay, I think Alia would like you all to see THESE pictures as well. You can vote using the buttons on the right side of this page, but the second vote for comments only works on THIS first page. And that's my last plug for voting! :)
My favourite quote from her Goth Girl of the Week page, though, is this:
The gothic style is a relatively new style in Romania. People would have probably got put in jail or even shot for such outrageous look and behavior during the Communism. So there aren't so many gothic people in Romania or gothic pubs. We just hang out with other rockers or people that know we are not some kind of dangerous psychos.
Emphasis mine...
Can remember being looked at as if I was a dangerous psycho. Of course, Gereg and I were walking around Isla Vista wearing swords (um, yes, live steel--but scabbarded!) at the time. :)
cold today, cold tomorrow, snow today, bigger snow tomorrow, ice everywhere. what happens in Minneapolis usually strolls onto our shores a day or two following, depends if it wants to hang out in chicago or milwaukee for a bit :) - sounds like a brutal commute! Monte Carlo sounds wonderful - martinis and cken soup - count me in! Sally, glad your water was fixed before pond turned into a lake. Just kinda glanced thru comments, as i have dentist appt too this morning before work (YUCH) and have to make a dish to bring to our annual luncheon. Sorry you fell Lorraine, hope you aren't too sore this morning - have a fun ride this a.m.! certainly much better than going to the dentist! and hope your horse learns some manners! have a good day all!
Not such chatty fiends in the night, but then, not sure I was alseep very long.
Loved that Girls Just want to have fun, Lys....
Sorry for the lack of chat -- was much too tired to stay up any later than necessary (having been kept up late with very, very stupid medical issues the previous evening).
Also sorry to hear you fell. Falling is truly lousy. I'm glad you're not terribly hurt.

Oops, forgot to sign out of my other Blogger account.
Thank you all for the fall wishes, but , I mean, I am fine, it was just kind of funny to do a butt fall while wearing slippers in a parking lot in below zero weather and a snowstorm, I am a really hearty sort of women...
Grew up on an ice rink, remember? Spent my youth on my butt on the ice learning double jumps....
And after skating, spent a few years falling off horses.
Didn't mean to make you think I was a wounded mess or anything, very sorry....
I do have something really cool for you tho this morning...Just give me a bit here and you will see....
Oh, it's not that we thought that you were a wounded mess. Falling sucks, that's all.
Lys - voted for Alia. :)
Ouch for falling, but Hurrah for getting back up again, unwounded! Which isn't to suggest that you wouldn't have done, of course. Your dignity looks fine to me.
Bleh. It's a slow brain morning. Just doing laundry, and getting ready to Go Somewhere. I hate packing.
Ooo, cool thing! *anticipates*
And just where IS everyone today? Feeling lonely here, Fiends!
And more to the point, someone has a chance to be first...
Pics of King Lear and Queen Mab are up on a new post!!!!!
Oh, sorry Jess, didn't see you there....
I'm here, sort of - do have to attempt to work for a living, you know. :-P
Same here. Works does try to get in the way (and this week it is trying very VERY hard).
Just got into work a couple of minutes ago. Last night, painted the Office Manwife's birthday present… though sadly, it's still way too wet to bring into the office. I'm continuing my tradition of being tragically late with presents. ;)
How're you feeling today, Quiche?
It's a great song, Chantrelle! I am so glad you managed to catch it (now I'll be wanting to find the lyrics somewhere).
