Happy New Year to the mountain people! I already wrote it in the other thread, but it bears repeating. :-)

Happy Ney year to all, and to all a good night. I'm not sure I can wait for Quiche to get home - I'll do the bed prep, and then see how things are.

I'm too old for all nighters!

Happy New Year Mountain People.
Just typing that made me feel cold.

At 11:08 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

This really has been so much fun, I've got a real sense today of everyone's time zones.

At 11:11 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

It IS fun! I agree. Thanks Lorraine, for setting up this smörgåsbord of fiend fun before you left for your gig! You are the BEST hostess!

At 11:11 PM , Blogger Na said...

Thanks Siri. THat was silly (hanging out on the old post).

I'll say it again, too - Happy New Year to you Lys and other mountain time fiends, lurking or chatty.

I'm going to try to stay up for west coast fiends. w00t

I was thinking the locals are nuts for being out in this cold. But really, they must be brave and hearty.

As I was brushing my teeth, I thought - I have to stay up to make sure Ms Fabulo gets home OK. I have no idea when she's leaving Charlies, or how long it takes to get home....but I'll wait it out a while. I might even make PST...

At 11:14 PM , Blogger Na said...

Yes, thanks, Lorraine! Hostess Extraordinaire.

At 11:15 PM , Blogger vampi said...

At 11:16 PM , Blogger Na said...

Yes Siri - we need to keep wrangling stragglers to new posts. :)

At 11:16 PM , Blogger Siri said...

And Sally - it's been nice having you here all your day, too. I have no idea what time it is in Melbourne, but I'm glad you are still with us!

At 11:16 PM , Blogger Na said...

I meant, we need YOU, Siri, to keep wrangling. Maybe typing for us too...

At 11:17 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Three cheers for Siri!!!

At 11:18 PM , Blogger Siri said...

Ah - typing is overrated.....we need Dan to do some kind of mental communication thing = what did Madeline L'Engle call it? Kything? That would be cool.

At 11:18 PM , Blogger vampi said...

Hip hip hurray! Hip hip hurray! Hip hip hurray!

Will that help you stay awake? Or does it need more cowbell?

At 11:19 PM , Blogger Siri said...

Always needs to be more cowbell..

Did we lose Lys?

At 11:20 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

::snort:: Na, you tickle me!

At 11:23 PM , Blogger Na said...

Do you know, all this talk of Shiraz this evening, and I just tried one last night for the first time.

At 11:24 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Its nearly dinner time - 6.30pm

At 11:25 PM , Blogger Siri said...

On the 1st, or the 2nd?

Crap - I have to go to work on the 2nd. Why didn't I take that day off?

At 11:25 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Nah, I actually braved the out of doors. Watched 360 degrees of fireworks (we have a LOT of pyro neighbors) but luckily no celebratory gunfire as yet...so no "nervous triggers".

I am SO amazed at how many stars can be seen from here! More than anywhere else I've ever been, and that includes Iraq.

Woo Hoo!!
Happy New Year to US!!!!!!

And thank you to Sally and everyone else who is still with us ... I really LOVE this rolling New Year's Celebration!

Only one glass of champs to go!

At 11:28 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Siri....I think you just might have a temp on the 2nd. :0

Just kidding. But think of this. You work on Friday, then you are immediately off work again for two days! Yay!!

Vampi--Shiraz!! good stuff, Maynard. :)

Mountain new year!
I have found out what is new about 2009: Yesterday when I woke up we had freezing temperature but a clear blue sky. Today is six degrees higher and it's raining.
PJ day for me. And maybe a snack for breakfast as dinner was a little sparse.

But more important:
HOW WAS THE GIG?

At 11:30 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Lys, I hate to ask you... could you drink a sip of champagne for me in half an hour? I would normally indulge, myself, but......

At 11:31 PM , Blogger Na said...

Hey Lys - I forget what part of NM you're in?

I did field work for my M.S. up in the Jemez Mtns. What I've seen of NM, clearest stars of 'most anywhere I know.

At 11:31 PM , Blogger Siri said...

I tried having a fever this AM, cause I felt kinda iffy when I got up. It was 96.6 - I wasn't overheated - I was freezing to death! I have got to turn the heat up in this house....

I live in a neighborhood of older people, who thing they are safer if they leave front lights on - so I can't see as many stars as I want - wave to Orion for me.

And it was very quiet around here - no noise at all. Wonder if I'm the only person left on the planet?

Oh wait - there's y'all. Never mind.

At 11:32 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Nat--pjs cool! And I really enjoyed the NYE wishes for all loved ones..Human or Not!!

At 11:33 PM , Blogger Na said...

Ticia, we're doing Martinelli's here, can drink some for you, skip the potential hangover. Unless you need to look like you've been drug backwards through the hedges again. :)

At 11:33 PM , Blogger Siri said...

Nat, wlecome to the party! Check out the pictures Gayle and Aleta put up on Facebook. Gig sounded wicked good. We were told to wait up until Quiche got home. We are doing that, although some of me is wiped out.

At 11:34 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Its still Thursday...the 1st.

At 11:35 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

That would be AWESOME, Na, we LOVE the Martinellis in this household!... And thanks for bringing my humiliation over from facebook! ;-D

At 11:36 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ticia--oh, I SO have you covered. In fact (as she notices that the bottle is, sadly now empty ..and she will have to open the other bottle for the West Coast Toast) I think I've got Designated Champagne Toaster covered for any and all Fiends or Family who chose (for whatever reason) not to indulge!!!!

Na--Socorro, about 75 plus miles south of Albuquerque. Egually north of T n C. So not a lot of light pollution.

At 11:36 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

So was there a rousing good gig, Q?

Happy New Year to all the mountain folks!

Lys, I miss those desert stars. So pretty, and so big. Almost makes you feel like you could fall up into them sometimes.

At 11:36 PM , Blogger Siri said...

OK, so that means you are 17 hours earlier than me (CST). I'll try to wrap my brain around that....

The best tag line I saw on someone's email was "Don't worry about the world ending tomorrow - it's already tomorrow in Australia."

At 11:40 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Which makes me wonder....why does our financial market follow yours, when yours happened yesterday?

At 11:40 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

yah, I may complain of many things..

But the sky view will never be one of them.

There is a reason why the US's leading observatories and Radio Inferamator Telescopes (sp?) are by and large located within 100 miles max of here.

Siri--thanks for the tagline! that rocks!

At 11:40 PM , Blogger Na said...

Oh no, Ticia! I thought it was a vivid and brilliantly-thought-of image. And if one _needed_ that look, say, to convince someone they needed to take work off on the 2nd...

At 11:44 PM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

That's a good thing to keep in mind, Siri, when one panicks... Tomorrow is a very relative notion.

At 11:45 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I'm home!!!!! Barely in time for LA!

This was a great idea wasn't it? That I myself, thought of, but it would not have been a party without you!!!!!!

SO fun tonight, that was a gig!!!!!!

At 11:47 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

ROFL! Na, you're killing me!

She does have a point though, Siri. If you tell people that you look like you've been dragged backwards through a hedge, they tend to feel sympathy for you... Or they laugh when they see you...and run screaming from your obviously contagious self....

At 11:47 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

15 minutes to go and FabLo is in the house! BRILLIANT!!

At 11:47 PM , Blogger Siri said...

Hurrah Quiche is safely home!!! I can go to bed!!!

Crap - it's almost 2, so I might as well stay up for the West Coast...since you've all been so wonderful tonight. Today is a PJ day indeed!

At 11:47 PM , Blogger Na said...

Hey, Hostess Extraordinaire, very clever and much fun. Glad you all had so much fun.

At 11:48 PM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

YEAH!
Glad you had a good gig.

At 11:48 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I think the best moment, or one of them, was when I told the crowd, Hey look! I got a text message, no idea who from here's what it says: "Okay drinking lots now!!!!!"

They laughed, and they figured out for me it was CA, and the table of Fiends all went: VAL!!!!!!!!!!!!

At 11:50 PM , Blogger Siri said...

Ah, we know our own so well....

How many fiends, Lorraine? We know Gayle and Aleta, but who else made it?

At 11:51 PM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Hehehe. I hope Val is having a good time finally. I wonder in our Malena is partying?

At 11:51 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Val's reputation proceeds her!

At 11:51 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Aside from being awake in eight hours for the Rose parade (bah, that is nothing! And heavens, won't I sleep well after all of this champagne!) staying up another ten minutes is NOTHING!!

Well done, Q! The auto-posts, as well as the Gig. Why, this is FUN. If I wind up overseas for any holidays in the future, this is what I want for a prezzie!!!!!

At 11:52 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

It was so fun, the Fiends Aleta, Galye and El were there (and EL brought me an Underworld 3 poster for Magic's room!) and they all brought friends...

The Neville Brothers came at 11...(not the band, just this groups of guys we adore, late 20's, really together and fun, sometimes they bring girlfriends and call them the Neville sisters)

Lots of Paul and Lorraine regular folk came to spend New Years.

We did the NY New Years thing, and the energy kept going UP.

Never been accompanied quite that way before, with the noise things...SO fun

At 11:54 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

We can do that for you Lys! Best party of all!!!!!!!!

It was funny, I dressed up, and paul wore flannel, I said it must have looked like "Drag Queen gone bad and the Lumberjack!"

At 11:54 PM , Blogger Siri said...

Well, you should have seen the noise makers and party hats and streamers falling all around here, each time a post went up.

Other people have balls dropping, but the fiends have posts popping!

At 11:55 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

It's funny to think the people who started this party, have slept and are up again.

Soon we have LA and California!

Glad I had the forsite to have written the post yesterday, wonder what I said???????????

At 11:56 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Popping posts indeed!!!!!!

The Bengals are nuts tonight! I think I stayed out too late for them. Venus has fetched a Feather stick to me...

At 11:57 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Whoo hoo!!!!!

Razz a Ma Tazz!

Now with extra STREAMERS!!

At 11:57 PM , Blogger Na said...

Ooooh, just minutes to go, western fiends!

At 11:58 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Three minutes!

At 11:58 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Venus just wanted to remind you of your priorities, my dear :)

hey, to all of you Fiends out there.....
My mom has been here with me through this...she laughs every now and then when I read her something....

She sends love and blessed New Year wishes to you all...

At 11:59 PM , Blogger Na said...

Commenters tensed to pounce, like the bengals they adore...

At 11:59 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Did the Bengals try to get the feathers around your neck? I had the image of a shredding top...

Fiends are the mistresses and masters of the 24 hour party

At 11:59 PM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Of course the bengals want to play!
It's New Year and they want a party.

At 12:00 AM , Blogger Ticia said...

wOOt wOOt!!!!

At 12:00 AM , Blogger Siri said...

Thanks, Lys' Mom - right back at you.

New post should be there....

At 12:01 AM , Blogger Siri said...

It's there!!

At 6:05 AM , Blogger Dan Guy said...

Next year we have to webcast "Paul & Lorraine's Rockin' New Years Eve", don't you think?

At 6:32 AM , Blogger Phiala said...

Happy Belated New Year to Mountain Time Fiends.

I was up, er, on the couch anyway, at the appropriate hour, but too encumbered with LapCat and FootWolf to possibly type.

That, and my eyes may not have been open.

At 7:39 AM , Blogger Dread Val said...

Aha! You sneaky fiends all moved here while I was drinking!

That's awesome that you shared the text message with everyone. And more awesome that the Fiends figured it out!

At 7:43 AM , Blogger Phiala said...

And then on to the West, Val.

(Go west!)

Yes, snoring should be banned. Nonetheless, I'm glad you had a convenient couch to occupy. Makes the designated drinking so much better, that. :)
