Happy New Year's and hugs to all things UKish!!

And energy hugs to Fablo, who will be rocking the entire nation it looks like. :-)

Meanwhile, I'm partying with some nachos, a coke, and curling up with my crochet needle and yarn and college football (I love college football).

Lys, Val, where's the champagne??

oi i wish i was in london again. i loved it so much.

merry new year's!!!

so someone mentioned a wine called penfolds in a previous post. i got some sirraz, is that a cold wine or a room temp wine?

i'm such a wine noob.

At 5:30 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

with apologies to Quiche and -who was it? who don't get Pterry...
Pterry

At 5:44 PM , Blogger Adri said...

Shiraz (and basically all reds) are room temp wines. Shiraz is the Australian word for Syrrah (or Syrrah is the French word for Shiraz?)

I'm learning about wine, too. Mostly I know about beer. Lots and lots of varieties of beer, thanks to a recurring social engagement at a pub 'round here with 250 or so different types.

Quick change from the Champers to something more appropriate for the UK.

But should it be scotch, or irish whiskey?

OH, the difficult decisions.

But since I HAPPEN to still have some Tullamore Dew.....

Quiche--not that you will see it this year, but I sent you an email. It's from the civilian account.

The Guy League! wait, isn't there one of those already?

Vampi, good choice. and Adri has you covered.

I have a second bottle of champagne chilling, just in case. Not that I'm even CLOSE to killing this one yet. Um, I'm not an alcoholic...just have a high tolerance for Champers!

(and good thing, too.)

HAPPY NEW YEAR MARJORIE AND CO!!!

SOMEONE (Aleta?) needs to blog from the Gig!!!!! (Have I mentioned how jealous I am?)

Oh. It hasn't started yet?

Okay. I'll just listen to some lovely music.....and continue catching up w/the Champers :)

Nope. Not a drop of alcohol.

Wish I were at the gig!

But close second, I'm stuffed entirely full of sushi, having finally gone to the Japanese place that's two blocks from my house. It's only been there for a couple years, and I've never been.

Silly, silly me.

Stuffed entirely full, did I mention that? Of tasty, tasty sushi?

Let's see if I can stay awake for two more hours!

Nick brought Morgan home some bits of roe tucked in a fortune cookie wrapper. Mota is now trying to smear them all over the sofa. But very, very happily.

At 6:49 PM , Blogger Adri said...

wowzers!

That beats pizza, no matter how good. Of course, I have some lovely brunch supplies for the morrow.

Hey, who went to Monte Carlo for martinis this afternoon? May I say once again "GREEN WITH ENVY!!"

Facebook pics? Please link. I will even (arrrrggg) REGISTER if I must. :) that is how much I want to see them!

At 6:53 PM , Blogger gaypet said...

No problem LyS. :) I am just so excited about a Fiend party that it is in the front of my mind almost all the time. You will be here, yes?

Good times here in Stillwater. The sound has always been good but it seems particularly good tonight. And our Ms Fab is on fire!

At 6:54 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Adri--that is some DRAMATIC hair! Wish I could do that....nice tigger critter on your shoulder, as well.

I had to click on the kitty pic (Zanzibar and Ornament.) That is a great photo, and I love the juxtaposition of cat faces!

At 6:55 PM , Blogger gaypet said...

Adri..thanks for the link, I MUST get an Angus for next year!

Love tabbies, I do.

All the rest of you: Back! Back I say!

no seriously....it isn't just the registering. It's the having to remember login stuff. I just have ENOUGH of that already, in my private and professional life!

At 7:09 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Happy New Year fiends! Love the pictures Adri! 5 hours until midnite here!

Lys, I tried to surprise you and Gayle today... I wanted to take SF Bay pictures for you, but the fog was too thick. Next week!

At 7:23 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Okay, I'm fully caught up with my Champers toasts...plus meals....

Surprisingly quiet around here, for what everyone had been telling me. Of course, it's only 8:22 pm here!

At 7:26 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I love the picture Gayle posted of Fablo and Dr. Score! Thanks, Gayle, for letting us peek in on the party!!

At 7:30 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Gayle!!!!

Where is this picture?!!

How do I get to see it??!!!

At 7:31 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Don't worry, Lys; I'm not on Facebook either, nor do I have any plans to join. I joined Blogger in order to post comments on this blog shortly after it started. I joined LiveJournal to keep up with friends there who locked their posts to the general public. I've had a tribe.net account for several years. I even registered with ::shudder:: Myspace to see a friend's page. I'm on LastFM. I really don't need to join one more social networking site. :)

So I'll just suffer through the time without pictures. ::SIGH::
;)

At 7:44 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

let's say I register on Facebook. Fine.

THEN what do I do, to see these pics?

At 7:47 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Tell me what name you are registering under Lys, I'll friend you, then you should be able to see the pics.

At 7:50 PM , Blogger gaypet said...

So we are here and Lorraine wanted to let Fiends know a few things. There is a mood of anticipation for the second set and impending midnight rock.

Lorraine is dressed in a FABulous, gorgeous black feather number. Paul looks like a lumber jack. He missed the memo about the dress code.

We are having a lovely time eating popcorn and drink... whatever.

Aleta says, too many people have iPhones. Including herself. I have taken a few short vids that I will send Q later. We are going to stop futzing with the techno and enjoy the show.

Check out Facebook for pix. :) Wish you all were here!!!

At 7:54 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Can someone with an iphone email Lys a photo if she give you her email address... Then she won't have to join facebook.

At 7:56 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Smart idea Ticia. Thinking of it, we should be able to copy the photos into an email for Lys.

Goes off to atttempt the task

At 7:59 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Adri too... right Adri??

At 8:00 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Okay, I managed to copy Gayle's photo and send it to Lys, Aleta's wouldn't copy for some reason.

At 8:02 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

East Coast fiends have less than an hour to go!

Wheeeeeee!

At 8:02 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Sally - you are a techno-goddess! You rock!

At 8:03 PM , Blogger vampi said...

well, who ever posts the pictures should be able to get a link form facebook and post. you can post your own pictures publicly. down towards the bottom of the screen in fairly small writing should be something that says "to share photo albm publicly use this link" or some such...

At 8:06 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

YaY!!!

SAVED from Facebook! :) for the nonce, anyway.

BBA America has started an Overnight of Absolutely Fabulous. WOO HOO!

Sally, got the email. Wondrous well done, Fiends!! A Fiend in Minnesota takes the pic....posts it..and a Fiend in Australia emails it to New Mexico.

Darn, we're good!
(I can even see the feathers....AND the plaid.)

At 8:07 PM , Blogger Siri said...

Well, I'm bloody well late to this party, aren't I?

Very quite in Iowa - no fireworks, no gigs, no other fiends that I know of.

I thought of Sally and Marjorie, and Louisa and Nat and everyone else as the world moved through time - happy new year to you all.

At 8:08 PM , Blogger Siri said...

Lys - I've been on facebook for some time now, and I still don't get how to do things.

Technology - grrr.

At 8:08 PM , Blogger gaypet said...

OK, I just wanted to say that Lorraine did not ask me to say she looked Fab. That was me. And I did not want to imply that we are waiting for Rock. It is happening NOW! Just that the crowd is anticipating noise makers and even MORE Rock. :)

OK, ttfn.

At 8:09 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Siri!!

have a glass of the Good stuff....half-way decent Champers.

None of that California sweet sod juiice here, mind you...

:)

Okay, now can someone get me Aleta's pic? Or...sigh..do I face the Dreaded Choice one again?

At 8:10 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Tell you what....any Fiend manages to post video and/or actual music clip (no matter how short, five seconds will do) of the gig on Facebook...and I WILL register, just for that!

:)

At 8:18 PM , Blogger Siri said...

Lys - maybe you can link to the picture here (I hope) gig

I don't think I'm drinking tonight - a little sad, so don't think I should compound the feeling. My own fault for not making other plans. I'll live - I have for years!

At 8:21 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Gaypet....

When they are on their longer break between sets, tell Lorraine that I am assuaging the pain of missing her with the delightful adventures of Patsy, Eddy and the rest of the AbFab crew. (As well, of course, with the company of all these Fiends. Plus several bottles of Champers. Isn't it New Years in Greenland yet?)

But even the promise of six hours of Fabulous adventures is not nearly enough....

At 8:23 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Siri!

WHerefore the Sadness? You simply MUST tell....so Fiends can make disappear. Or at least be empathic and sympathetic over it all..

Seriously...you know you are not alone....this is the Fiend New Year's Celebration!

At 8:23 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Siri, link you posted says you have to log in to view pictures. ::sigh::

My choice is still not to join Facebook.

At 8:24 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

I'm not drinking tonight either Siri... Too sick... It's hot ginger-lemon-honey water all the way!

:-D

At 8:25 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ticia: I send Echinacea/Comfrey/Goldenseal thoughts your way....

At 8:27 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

And Lys is right, Siri. We are here for you!

At 8:27 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Thanks Lys! :-D

At 8:29 PM , Blogger Siri said...

Eh - it's the usual - workload, bad budget forcasts at work (increasing the workload) winter, a recent bout of my body betraying me, and an overwhealming sense of missing my mother - she died 8 years ago August, and she would have loved the fact that I know this community. Or, since she does know, I'm feeling sad because I can't talk to her the way I can talk to you.

I'll be fine - after all, y'all are there, but.....I miss her.

At 8:35 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

It all seems to snow ball this time of year, doesn't it?

I don't have a close relationship with my mother, but I do with my child. So, I'm beginning to understand the bond... I'm sorry your mother is no longer with you, Siri. This seems like a good time to have the support of the fiends. ((hugs))

At 8:36 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

This is freakin' hilarious. Edina has taken, in the words of the jamaican nurse "everything we had"...then they still have to give her a shot to knock her out for surgery on an ingrown toenaIl.

Patsy is a marionette, and Saffi is all up in the la Croix claiming she will give up university to bum around Europe experimenting with drugs.

Riotous "under anesthesia" dream sequence!

At 8:40 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

SIRI!!!

Talk to her. For yourself, at the very least. She hears you, she just can't answer as she once did.

I am deeply sorry she is not right here for you...

You know we ARE, though....

At 8:42 PM , Blogger Siri said...

I do know the time of year is a lot of it - dang weather! I know we weren't "friends" growing up - she was my mother, but after a certain point, she became a friend as well as Ma, and anytime you lose a friend, it's sad. Do be a mother to your child, first, Ticia - that sets the good basis for the friendship.

And yes, the fiends are good for all wot ails one!

At 8:43 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

*hugs* to Siri. My mother is alive, but at age 75, she is in failing health and losing her hearing, and the smart, beautiful, witty woman whom I love is still there, yes, but it's like waving to her through the glass on the train...

And I am with you in having a bit of melancholy, but it is being lightened by the fiends here, very much, yes.

And to post something that may seem cliched but is true: every day, someone does something great. Today, let that someone be you.

(And I very much liked what Fablo's nice Boss wrote, especially the being kind part.)

At 8:43 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yes, I do understand that..

even though I am in my 40's, it is really just recently that my mother has begun becoming my friend....more than my mother.

Interesting..

At 8:45 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

And I think I've become addicted to eating. :-) That is all I've done this holiday season and am still doing tonight, and it's great fun!

At 8:48 PM , Blogger Siri said...

The last 2 years I've printed what Himself wrote on New Year's Eve. Again, what a way that man has with words. I put them up in my office, to remind me that work isn't the be all and end all - life is.

Mothers are funny creatures - for years they torture you, and suddenly they become the one who knows you best, and loves you anyway.

You ladies are the best - thanks for the support - that's why I keep coming back, when I could be doing other things - like sleeping!

hugs everyone back

At 8:50 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Siri, I'm a big letter writer. Not "mailing" letters, but letters from my heart to express feelings I can't express in other ways. Then I burn the letter, very ceremoniously. Or, I flush it down the toilet.

I've never done it to talk to a loved one who is no longer here, in a physical form.... But it may help.

At 8:51 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Siri, you might just be surprised at the conversations you can have with the loved departed. That is, if you want to have a conversation. My mother has been dead 11 1/2 years, but believe me, I can hear her laughing her ass off every time my eldest does or says something just like me at her age. I either tell her to shut up, stick my tongue out at her, or just walk around grumbling mentally.

{{hug}}

At 8:52 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Oh poor Q -- yet I'm sure she is great with the annoying drunk folk. Sigh. I hope they don't mess with y'all's fun!

At 8:53 PM , Blogger Siri said...

Oh believe me, I talk to her all the time, and I hear her telling me what's what, and laughing at all the right places.....She's very much in my head!

But, it's not the same as face to face....

Someday, I'm going to write a story about a dead loved one coming back to life, because someone wished it so hard; I can't decide whether that would be a good thing, or not.....

At 8:54 PM , Blogger Ticia said...
