Paul, Lorraine, Horsies, The Mandrake Root and Not Quite Naked.
I bathed.
I know, it may sound like the writer of a blog is really reaching for something to talk about, if she starts a Blog "I bathed" but it was truly necessary and quite an event here today. Now Paul and Dylan will want to sit by me.
The gig tonight is 9 to Midnight central time, and we will post on our breaks. (Why we are doing this here and not on our OWN blog is any ones guess, Paul and I don't know...) But I like it here.
We are getting ready for the cd recording. We will have 6 hours of songs to go thru, and see what we get.We started learning some new songs last night. Tonight we perfect them. (Yes, it is that easy, sometimes.) We have Dylan coming down to play the show with us, and see if we want him along for the recording. (DUH!!!! That's WAY easy.)
Paul and I have been talking about the cd and format, and Danguy, the evil genius, may have taken a bigger bullet than he bargained for by saying "Hey, let me stay at your Spooky House, I will trade computer work for lodging" (MMMwawwhahaah!! Dan Guy, we have some PLANS!)
Now all we have to do is a really, really hot show. And before you say "Well, of course you will, it's a foregone conclusion" send a little thought of sympathy out to Big Brown, who was going for HIS big thing today, and didn't muck it up a LITTLE, but managed to finish dead last.....Hey, if you're going down, go down blazing, I say.
Malena and I have been working on a little report on the Mandrake Root for you. Hopefully we will have this in tomorrow. We feel it is our job to keep you to date on all things Spooky...Voodoo Wasps, Evil Bengals, Bat Dog Gargoyles...You heard t here first.
Now I must dress for the gig, or the show will be a little hotter than the people bargained for!!!!
(And since Paul is going to be reading this, and I know how his mind works, NO I am not currently doing Naked Blogging.Towel Blogging, maybe...I only mention this because Paul likes it when people say Naked.)
Hope your night is as exciting! And I wish you were here.
Love and music,
Lorraine

Just waved "bye" to Dylan--he's stoked to help out with this project. The Wee Lass wants to "go hear Daddy play". *sigh* Wish we could be there tonight. Sadly, I have a long shift in the greenhouse tomorrow. Plants just don't keep pub hours...what's up with that?
Love,
Your Fire
Would Paul enjoy hearing that you know someone who stripped today? Yep. Today I was a stripper... in a paint-off-the-woodwork sense, but hey! I do know how many guys' minds work and if I said I spent the afternoon stripping I'd get the same perky looks I get from my dogsters for just showing up.
No, you'd never do *naked* blogging. Nude, perhaps. Au Naturale maybe. But not naked. You're a diva!
Have a ball tonight. Wish I could be up there!
You have to start giving the plants Jameson! Then they will understand your needs!
I love strippers!
Apparently I love exclamation points!
We are having a blast and looking forward to the recording. Got to go to work.
-P
Dylan here -
Missing both my lassies, but having an absolute blast! As of 10:21, I am still involved in the project - not fired yet, and feeling hopeful!
This is gooooood stuff - looking forward to the recording - more later
10:22 Fired Dylan
10:33 hired him again. Gods I love power!!!!!!!
Dancing Liza we wish you were here!!! Dr Wicked came down, lovely to meet him.
He doesn't LOOK wicked....But one never knows...
Everyone still has clothes on. No one is naked, nude or natural. Several people are drinking tho.
:sigh:
Wish I was there.
But I am not. I am here. Mostly.
I love that you can learn and perfect songs in one weekend. Can't wait to hear the new stuff.
I am just barely awake (and blogging in my PJs - in case someone gets interested in that) and SO jealous.
Sounds like you are having a blast.
Wish I were there.
Lovely Show!
Just got back, thanks for the Firefly theme!
Links for Paul:
The Bedlam Bards (www.bedlambards.com) The name of their CD is On The Drift (cdbaby link).
I uploaded the Ballad of Joss to DrWicked.com, it's the version I got off the podcast. Oh, and here are the lyrics: http://www.bedlambards.com/Drift Lyrics.html.
Ms Lorraine:
The book to which I was referring which might be halfway between Jane Austen and Sexy vampires is Pride and Promiscuity: The Lost Sex Scenes of Jane Austen.
I still do think that someone needs to write a Vampiric Austen novel.
And with regards to my wickedness, I was wearing my protective glasses so as to shield you from my wicked eyebeams.
Again, thanks for the show! I will do my best to get to the live recording and hold up the boisterous male chorus.
-DrW
Nude blogging. Now that would NOT go over well here, considering I have house guests and they are all men. Yes, I seem to have a lot of men in my life these days. My trainer is a man, the remodeling dudes are men, my BF photographer is a man, my manager is a man, and our guests are men. The closest I come to naked in my house is not wearing shoes.
The idea of writing a sexy blog naked in my japanese "posture chair" does sound provocative though. Sounds more sexy than it looks though I'm sure.
Hope the gig went well! I thought of you tonight; I was at Molly Malones, to see a friend rock the drums for two shows. I kept thinking, 'Lorraine has GOT to come out here so she and Malena can do a show in this place.'
Now I must go wade through the photos of the show and erase all my lame ones. And my sketches of the show that I started doing once the camera battery died and the card was full.
Paul, sadly, no one was naked at the show out here, either. I wore a corset, but that's about as close as anyone got (it's like 65 degrees here, which is time to break out the UGG boots and warm jackets, in LA).
I am home now and had a lot to say, but got all distracted by Malena's post....
Way fun show. LOVE having Dylan sit in, changes things a lot, but in a good way, as long as the testosterone doesn't get out of hand, she says ominously....
Dr Wicked, lovely to meet you! SO glad you came down. I will check out all of those links.
I was explaining to Dr Wicked about how I had been on a roll trying to read Jane Austen, but I am coming to believe I am made of courser stuff. I managed to get completely distracted by a novel in the grocery store.."Half Vampire, Half Werewolf, she spends her days tracking down evil...."
Sign me up!!!!!!!!
Well, part way into the book I realized this was NOT the first book in the series, and a quick look at Amazon got me the first 5, deliverable within 24 hours. We have been together ever since.
Keri Arthur, "Kiley Jenson Guardian Series."
The women tells a good story.
A Firefly inspired album! Shiny! You just never know what you'll find here in the land of Lorraine and Malena.
Glad your gig went well and sounded like so much fun - wish i could have been there too. your post was so funny, but i'm braindead and cannot think of one funny or witty thing to add. maybe saying the word "naked" would help :) oh, and Thanks for asking Lorraine! - the rain held off until about 9 pm for Graduate's Open House and then we were in the midst of the Flood for over an hour and captive in the tent. So it was all good - the open house was officially 4 to 7 where it changed into a Party for Grownups, and since pop, beer and wine were in the tent with us, we were ok. Sure wish all of you could have been there - LOTS of food, music, and fun, tho a bit wet and drippy. Definitely not much fun cleaning up this morning tho! Still storming too, really wicked thunder and lightening. And my not so little anymore daughter was very happy and had a blast. now on to the twin's 21st birthday party next saturday...
Sounds like fun! Thanks for popping on even if you are brain dead. Having a brain is not needed here, I think I have proved, hee-hee..
One thing I loved last night was at this club, there at TV's, and in font of the stage are 3 only we an see, and mostly pubs seem to think sports are what people want..I keep lobbying for some Law and Order r something fun, but get no where.
( the only time I totally rebel is wrestling, no one needs to see that, nearly naked men eating eachother up. Ugh.)
( I used Naked again..)
Last night tho, we had of all things, FInding Nemo, with subtitles! Loved it!
Ok, very sorry. I need more light. Make that " BEATING eachother up"
Fablo, I am thinking of you as I watch the SVU marathon on the USA network. I should be doing other, productive, important things. Instead, I am drooling over Det. Stabler (neither he nor I are naked, sadly). Yes, Det. Benson is a hottie, but Stabler, sigh, that's how I roll. And I wish wish wish I could be at one of your gigs this summer! It would be diva-vine, right? :-) (plotting, plotting...)
How funny! Lorraine and I have been talking about doing a show at Molly Malone's sometime soon. Oh yes we have evil plans. wehoooo
Dr. Wicked,
I am going to send you a DVD of 13 Nights so you can help us edit it and put it up properly.
Stabler is hot, I mean for a guy, but Benson..Oh yes! It's SUV heaven here after cleaning all day. Things got a little messed up last week, being so busy, but now, all in order.
(so I get Law and Order, I slay myself!)
Do come to a show if you can, we have a blast. Come to a Charlie's show tho, that's where it gets good. Kips is mostly about shorter hours, and money, just between us.
Would love to play Molly Malone's. SO many people came put of that club, Flogging Molly springs to mind.
(I do like them, but are they maybe re-hashing the Pouges? Not that is BAD, and I do like the way they write new lyrics, but I keep getting a feeling with them of been there, done that...Maybe I need to listen more)
Tho they tell me Van Morrrison's Sweet Thing went thru the roof last night...
The beauty of the virtual world is that any of us could be blogging naked at any given time.
Sounds like much fun! Good luck with the CD recording.
(If you're wondering why I haven't commented about your music, it's because it has not come in the mail! Just so you know. I didn't want you to think I was avoiding saying something ... well ... bad!)
~Emily
Ahh, Dr. Score, you are a wise man indeed. I have implemented a new feeding regimen..."Vitamin J" mixed liberally with the 20-10-20 NPK mixture the plants have been getting...I'll give you a full report as the data comes in. I have also installed a disco ball in the Rose House (you know, just for ambiance *wink*)!
On Big Brown...that is very sad, and I must admit, I would like to witness a Triple Crown...but if I had 2 of 3 prestigious titles (and legs like that!!!), well, I wouldn't be cryin' in my Vitamin J!!! (I just hope the poor lad's hoof is OK).
Loved the outtakes from last night! Thank you Dr. Wicked for suggesting the Firefly theme--wonderful! (Why on Earth did that show get cancelled??? The INJUSTICE, I tell you!)
Also, I thought P & L's version of Star of the County Down rocked (wonderful!!!), and I've never liked Fields of Athenry more than hearing y'all play it. (Phiala, thanks for reminding me of this wonderful 3rd person plural--you're right we do need one. It's perfect!!)
Almost lastly, I want to thank you both for thinking of D for this project. His mood has been suffering of late, and this is just the remedy he was needing. Truly, thank you. His mood is much improved today!
And I shall close with...
NAKED NAKED NAKED MANDRAKE ROOTS! ALL THE TIME!!! NAKED!
(though, I've never seen a clothed one...)
...and I like exclamation points too!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and elipses apparently)
~Liza
Well, I think I know WHY it hasn't come, Emily, um, it MIGHT be all gathered together and still sitting in my To Be Mailed basket at the Boss'es. Very sorry, It;s been REALLY hectic these last few weeks..I'll post it tomorrow, promise.
I think I have a copy of everything but the first two Flash Girls cd's...The first one is out of print, which even f it did help us win a MN Music award, is no bad thing, ones first cd is generally best forgotten.
Hello, my Firey Friend! At first I could not figure out how you had heard the show, not being there and all that, but I had forgotten Dylan recorded it for practicing.
It is SO nice to have him. It changes things, and it's a whole new Beast now. Not many bands add on a person the week before they record. WHo can say what we will ned up with? I do know we will have a LOT of fun.
I am still trying to get into Firefly, I know I would like it if I did...
Way to feed yr plants Jameson, you make me laugh. Don't ever tell me you can't write and are too shy to post!(Yes, I m outing you, Dancing Liza is a writer..And a good one. You and Spacelaw should be friends)
Naked Mandrake to you too!!!
And I too, for reasons I do not understand am affected by what happened with Big Brown. Not that he didn't win, but on some other levels...
I seem to be commenting on my own comments. Perhaps i should post. Malena said she was going to post our Mandrake Root Blog tho, so I hadn't been worrying. It IS still early out there tho. For her anyway.
Lorraine, that's okay! I just hoped that you didn't think I was trying not to mention it!
Thanks for letting me know, though!
~Emily
Lorraine I would be happy to lend you my Firefly DVDs if you would like. I do think you would like it.
I look forward to hearing what this Dylan adds to the mix. Three is a good number.
I have been lent them before, but Thanks! I think I need the right group of people and a six pack of NA beer, and a Firefly festival, maybe.
We would love to have Dylan sit in anytime he wants, but being in a regular band with two boys might get a bit much for me.....The odds change when there are two, I learned last night, he-hee.
You trickster for outing me!!! I thought that was our secret. *wink*
I understand your reservations about playing with two Y's--they can get a bit focused on the bullocks--but I am reminded of a sticker Lojo used to wear on her guitar case,
"You don't need balls to play."
D understands where you are coming from...do not worry. He's not out to step on any toes. He just wants to have fun with two colleagues. PLus, he's so in touch with his feminine side, I swear he's got an X chromosome under his coat.
Write more about Big Brown. I'm curious to hear your thoughts. Heck. Write more, period. The archives of this blog tell me you yourself are writing...and that intrigues me. I have ALWAYS thought you should.
More please.
~L (aka, your little Flame)
I have been passing my DVDs along to the uninitiated for awhile now. Spreading the Good News. A Firefly fest would be a wonderful idea. Don't know if I'd make the cut but I would be well behaved if invited. Hee. Some of my friends do backyard film fests in the summer and they are great fun. Sort of odd mixed in with urban noise but it works!
Wow so much blogging.. when I blog at home I generally have a naked cat sitting on me..
I'm currently reading the legend of the Ice People.. a series of 47 books that my parents collected years ago.. (i'm on number 22 now) see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
The_Legend_of_the_Ice_People
I just discovered.. right now as I'm writing this that they're about to be released in english for the first time:
http://www.margitsandemo.co.uk/
I think you'd love them :)
am uploading live video footage now from the concert.. will post links here when they're up xox
I think the first thing I need to say is that I put some things wrong. Paul and I LOVE playing with Dylan, and he rocks our world.
Dylan is the sweetest gentlest soul going, and has the musical chops of a God. If I whine about the testosterone it should have been taken as good natured humor, which I will try and be clearer on. My Bad.
Both Paul and Dylan are two of the best people working, and two of my best friends, and nether would ever be disrespectful of me.
Tho I may have, without meaning to, have slighted them.
I do apologize, to both of them if I have.
Hera, looking forward to those in English, it is my sorrow I cannot read them Icelandic. Post those links SOON!!!!!!
And oh, Yes, I think I will be writing about Big Brown, I have some things to say thee, but need to sort them out...
Links to live videos :)
Cause of my pain:

:) :) :)xox
can someone tell me how to make the links look all pretty and blue?
You so rock!!! When are you coming back here!!! We need more Hera!
Sounds like it was a good night. I'm still recovering from mine. I'm not used to going out any more... and I'm *really* not used to leaving the house at my current bedtime to *start* my evening.
As for naked blogging... I'm with Maureen - nude or au naturale maybe, but not naked. :)
Hello Hera!
I remember seeing your first concert here in Stillwater! Now I can always say I got to see you first and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. I got Don't Play This at the concert which you so graciously signed and Not So Sweet through iTunes but I've been meaning to inquire if there's any way to get a hold of your Icelandic album. It seems to be perpetually sold out at CDBaby and now seems to have faded from their catalogue entirely. I love your voice and the Icelandic language songs were haunting and beautiful.
Anyway, onto the tech doctoring which is my namesake and reputation. To make your links all pretty and blue requires tags. These are little bits of HTML that you can use in these posts. Don't let that scare you though.
All you have to do is type
<a href="http://linkgoeshere.com">
Everything within these tags will be blue until you "close" the tag with
</a>
It's kindof like using parentheses.
So your links could look like this:
Angel by her Side.
Here is a simple sample that you can just copy and paste from here until you get the hang of it:
<a href="http://weblink">text</a>
(Obviously you'll need a proper link complete with http:// and .com)
Hope that helps!
When you've got the hang of that I'll teach you how to link pictures! Although blogger comments don't support posting pictures, it's useful to know.
Feel free to ask any more questions and I will help whatever way I can.
-DrW
P.S. Malena: I would love to have the divine geek pleasure of editing and uploading the DVDs. Would you like my address or would you like to send them through Fab Lorraine?
Wow thank you so much :) that's endlessly helpful :)
if you send me an email to hera at herasings dot com I can send you info for getting the Icelandic album (it's available very limited edition)
xoxox!
I'll bring the Firefly DVDs if you want to bring the NA beer and have a marathon viewing party!
I have a strictly no-nude blogging policy, after years of leaving my webcam streaming 24/7. Many a poor CRT monitor suffered tragic tube-death at the prospect of rendering my gleamingly pasty white nudity those few times when I was caught from behind. I think it was suicide, honestly.
Firefly is pretty cool; I think you'd like the character of Zoe.
Yes, come to Molly Malones… and get the place known for having you play there!
So what's with the mandrake root?
Sure Dan Guy, we can try, tho I don't think there will be much time for TV with gigs and such, maybe tho, best to be prepared...
We would have some mandrake root blog going on right now, but Blogger won't let me in to edit the draft Malena and I have been working on, and it is WAY to early for her to wake up and give me her password. (for the millionth time!)
Dr Wicked, drop her an e-mail with your address at lorraineamalena@gmail.com and many thanks!
And thanks I have always wanted to know how people made the links pretty and blue!!!
Gods! I switched identities again!!!!!!!! I am my own secret person, this LaM!!!!!!
I must admit to being a "brown coat" myself after watching the series. Nothing short of tragic that it was canceled.
I think I will get back to doing the blog thing over at paulandlorraine and that way I can let fly with the testosterone from time to time without too much fear of unintentional recoil. *smirk*
Liza, I am very curious to hear how Dylan's recording device worked. We will have to get together again soon. I was thinking of taking my kids to the zoo this weekend, wana come? (plus I have an important gift to return!) I'll call your man and we will discuss such manly things...
Lorraine, what can I do to get a version of our flyer up for people to download?
Oh, and as an addendum to my previous post (which was rather vitamin J induced) I should have said that I am simply fond of strippers (woodwork, blogging or otherwise). Is it too late to appear the gentleman?
I'm not a total BrownCoat, but I do heart my Firefly. :)
And as a person who inadvertently saw some pasty white naked backsides on various web cam feeds (not you, Danth, it was in New Orleans), thank you for remaining clothed. Not that I have a problem with nudity - but a little warning is appreciated. :)
Mmmm... Firefly!
If you need an Flash Girls fix, Will Shetterly has put some up here and the rest on last.fm. Instant gratification! Now if only I could get Death on Hennepin unstuck from my brain. Too bad I'm not within driving distance of your Saturday gig - I'm sure that would have fixed it.
I now have rhubarb of my own, courtesy of the farmer's market. Not crumble, but cooked down with the farmer's market strawberries into sauce, and served on ice cream.
# ack! dyebath! must stir every 3-5 minutes. DO NOT FORGET DYEBATH #
Having wrecked a medium-large batch of silk this weekend, I'm now trying to compensate by dyeing more. So I'm web-surfing in 3-minute increments. Everyone else in the house is asleep - I think it's the heat - and all is very quiet.
I'll bring the boxed set on the improbably chance that we have any downtime.
I'm watching "Eagle vs Shark". Odd movie. I may well resent the guide description for describing these people as geeks...
Paul, post the flyer on our blog, then they can get it...
Dan guy, yes, bring the series, I will GET THIS!!!!!
How cool of the Flash Girls, now if we could play again.....
Yay for Pansy Smith and Violet Jones! My Flash Girls collection is complete! I thought I'd never get a hold of that album after being told by Dreamhaven that it simply wasn't available any more. What sweet joy the blog doth bring!
-DrW
Where ever did you get Pansy and Violet? It is out of print, I thought....
Lorraine, Will put that one up too, at the links I posted above. Out of print, maybe, but obviously Emma still has a copy! :)
-I- don't have a copy!
Ah, my first cd, I remember it well....I saw one go for about $300 on ebay once. Very flattering.
