Exciting Video and the Wild Kingdom Update

Such excitement since our report on "Our Friend the Mandrake Root"!!!!

We got a call from Kimberly Butler, who directed our idea, and the Lovely Byrdie, who did all the camera work, and editing, that the Video was done at last!!!!

You can see it HERE...

Watching it today brought back so many memories. The good, the bad, non-stop hours, hard work, Malena nearly drowning, (second time I saved her life, the first involved a Grape and the Heimlich Maneuver, she must be part cat) I learned so much shooting, most of all, that I like the behind the camera jobs better than in front of the camera.

I hope you like what we did. Chris Ewen wrote some beautiful music, Gregory Maguire magic lyrics, Kimberly had the ideas (That women is something else when working. Total concentration, I had only known her not at work before that)Byrdie did the camera work and editing, Ashley some acting and lots of tech (and sat in the COLD water for hours while the shots got set up, so Malena didn't get blue and frozen)

And Malena....Well, I tell you, that women worked harder than anyone, nothing she wouldn't do to get it right.

What did I do? Everything I could. Logistics, kind of a production co-ordinater. Very important.

Cabal the Berserker is turning into the Star of Dog School, which makes me happy, tho I have to be honest and say it isn't his first time thru this class...But now he is an inspiration to the others and proof it can be done.

Venus and Mim have been getting outside time in the evenings, on little purple leashes and harnesses. It takes two people because Mim is EVERYWHERE, and Venus sort of slinks, close to the ground.

Jungle Loves One and Two are getting better. I am ready to really start looking for the right home for them. I know they just need someone who will love them, and they will trust and be happy.

And we got to do Bee Things, which always makes me happy. Today was adding Brood Boxes.

The next few days are FLOOD WATCH days, so methinks it means rain is coming. Lots and lots of rain.

And Dan Guy is still contemplating taking over the world, along with Mr Paul Score. I'm betting they do it...

Love and Magic,
Lorraine

Mesmerizing, really. (Not sure I spelled mesmerizing correctly, but I'm a little bit lazy right this second...) The scenes of Malena as Faery Queen walking through city streets were my favourite, although I do wish there was a little bit more shown of the fiddle player!! :-) And I'm on the side that's for bellyrubs 'cause I need one myself, so is that part of Cabal's cabal? And Emily, DanGuy is sweet like sugar. Just obey him at all times, and there's no trouble for anyone. Right??

The video is so fabulous I had to come over to post and say so! :)

Malena looks like a Fairy Queen in her white wings and corset but I wish there were more of you Mistress Lorraine in the video as well.

I have a question for you Witches of Eastwick; is the Mandrake root related to the Ginseng root? Both root can have a human male look to them.

Again, stunning stuff!

Many thanks!!!

The Times Square shoot was a stealth shoot, as permits were way not in our budget. I had an umbrella I recall, to fend people off. The people in the street ignored us, but behind us, on an island, we had a huge crowd, all taking pics....

My experince is that New Yorkers take orders from no body! But can understand why people were taking so many photos, it's not everyday one sees such a white goddess even in New York City where you can see almost ANYTHING!

This video is beautiful. A great way to end an odd day on a wonderful note. I agree. More Lorraine would have been good, but I understand enjoying the behind the scenes stuff!

Yay Cabal! Yay bees! Yay for purple cat leashes! I love the image of Mim running around and Venus slinking. Of course Venus slinks! That is perfect!

Hey, live footage, I'm your women! But acting for the camera is a whole different beast.

Malena can tell you.....It ain't easy...

It is truly some fun, taking the Bengals for outings. They are such wonderful Kitties..So muh love. I really want to know who will love my fosters....

glad you liked it it everyone. Lorraine was the EXECUTIVE PRODUCER. Don't let her shy away from all she did. All I did was sew, sing and inhale lots of sea water. It couldn't have happened without her. can't wait to do another one. Lorraine is the only person on God's earth I would go on a road trip with.

It is a great video, girls! and I would second, triple, gazillion a request for lyrics - being somehow attracted to words (wonder why?) - for this song (and I remember asking of it for all songs, actually).
When is the CD actually coming out?

Greetings from Paris, ya'll (can you tell I spent a year in NC when I was a kid?).

Great video! Malena as a winged Amazon wandering NYC is wild.

Flood watch? Dagnabit. My orbital weather-control satellites must be malfunctioning. I just wanted the city clean for my triumphant arrival, not flooded. Where'd I put that spanner...

What future HV videos need is more fiddle player!

Mandrake vs ginseng - nope, not related, other than both being flowering plants. The root shape is a coincidence. Both have tap roots, and sometimes those can fork and look like people. Even carrots can do the same thing, but most carrots are grown intentionally in very soft soil, and don't have any obstructions to go around.

Mandrakes are at least in the Nightshade family, so they have all sorts of interesting relatives. Some very tasty - tomato, potato, eggplant, chili pepper - and others with various psychoactive properties - tobacco, nightshade, jimsonweed.

Ginseng isn't related to anything particularly interesting that I know of, except that dratted English ivy that's trying to eat my house.

Now to work out how the Cabal Cabal can use this information. The side with the bellyrubs is for me, though I do certainly realize that it will all end up with everyone obeying the cats.

I am seeing what can be done about lyrics shortly, I don't have them that I can find...But I have an e-mail into Malena and Chris.

The road trip was fun. Malena and I ended up staying on in NY for a few days and driving back to Boston, and I have to say, she feared it a bit, but she had never traveled with ME!!!!

As long as I stopped at EVERY fruit stand, the little Vampire did great!!!!

Yes, Danth, I do think this is a bit much, this cleaning up the city for your arrival. Remember, you must use these powers only for good...

Oh, *GOOD*. I always get those two confused.

Wow we move at the speed of light don't we here? Lyrics would be nice, so echoing on that - dan when are you going up to Fablo's? Make sure you fix the weather thing, because everything she gets, i get two days later! Flooding has already been awful thru Wisconsin and Michigan - my brother's wife has relatives in the Dells, and a lake actually drained itself from flooding over. We had a road wash out and create a sinkhole which two people died in. Brutal spring. And thanks!! for the bday wishes for my twins, the best is I am 21 yrs away from being BabyMountain BreedingSack, the worst is i am 21 yrs older :) they had a fun day, and a party to come on saturday. keys will be confiscated. Everyone should come!

Ha! I knew I wasn't the only one who wanted lyrics and more Lorraine!

Aglaia and Phiala, welcome to Cabal's Cabal. It's no coincidence he's doing better in Dog School… he has us behind him for support. And by the way, O Leader of the Voodo Wasp-Bengal Alliance, we have a Message for you.

p.s. We will never Obey the cats!

Mandrake: where all the secret powers come from.
I am afraid some of us are already obeying the cats...

At 8:14 AM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Get ready, Sue, It Is Coming.....Rain and rain today. And tomorrow, and tomorrow and tomorrow....

I have to obey the cats. There is no question who is in charge in the Spooky House. Cabel obeys me. Unless he doesn't.

If that is where all the secret powers come from, it goes a LONG way to explaining Malena, since it seems to be growing all around her....

Big thunder and lightening right now.

Is that you DanGuy?

"Here's your problem. Someone set this doll to EVIL."

-sigh-

Dan guy, I thought you were going to wait until my fusogenic submission proteins were ready to mix with the rain? Now I'm going to have to gain access to the drinking water... or perhaps a brewery.

I'm surprised that "Pans Labyrinth" has not been brought up for movie appearances of mandrake root. I really enjoy Guillermo del Toro's work.

Loved the video! I'll run security for you two any time, and I'm always available for you genetic engineering needs as well.

I haven't seen Pans Labrinth yet, which is not good, as all I hear is how great it is...

Dr Score, excellent. On all counts. Can you make us a half pony half monkey?

At 9:51 AM , Blogger scored4life said...

I'll need more monkeys... oh, and an island... a particle accelerator, and one of those cool jacob's ladder spark generators. Dan guy, are you having a yard sale any time soon?

At 9:54 AM , Blogger Dan Guy said...

No, but I hear that Dr. Moreau's ungrateful kids are trying to unload his assets quickly.

Paul, I have all that stuff in the back of the Prius, with the PA, in our gear bag. You can grab it at the gig next week.

on a miserable day you guys can still make me laugh. thanks for that.

I agree... more fiddle player. I think I liked the mermaid bits and the fiddler best... and that tail was amazing. What was it made out of? I also love the bit where Malena curls down... and then comes up in Times Square... and the shot of all the snap-happy photographers taking shots of our fairy queen. I love the shots of the moon... and the moon shining on the water behind Malena.

I was wondering what Chinese shrine you were in though?.. and that nautilus shell ... was it real?

I also love the bit at the beginning with Malena singing... so beautiful. ... and I guess I also love the bit with the haunting melody at the end.

Maybe I should just say I loved it all.

The Vodoo Bengal Alliance needs some good propaganda, like this:

NO! No Monkey/Pony hybrids! Do you really want them flinging feces that large? Let's think this through, Ms. Fabulous. ;)

To be honest, I forgot about the mandrake in "Pan's Labyrinth." Probably because I've only seen it once, but I've seen "Flesh and Blood" many times.

And Ms. Fabulous, "Pan's Labyrinth" has been out on DVD for quite a while now, you have no excuse. You really can miss "Law and Order" in any of its forms for a night. I promise it's worth it. :)

I think I'll not choose sides. There's bound to be a void to fill in the aftermath. ;)

The Voodoo Wasp-Bengal Alliance needs no petty propaganda! They are mighty in stinger and claw, tooth and tails!

I, for one, embrace our new Wasp-Bengal Overqueens.

Oh man DanGuy.

You really have gone over board on this cleaning up the city thing. I was planning to leave the office before the Big Rain. I heard something that sounded exactly like one of those big street cleaning machines with spinning brushy things and water and such. So I thought they were cleaning the alleyway outside my window. No. It was rain and wind.

I fear your power. I may have to take a side in this cosmic battle after all.

It stopped now, I better get home before the invisible machines of Dan's rain (reign?) come back.

Wonderful video! beautiful ladies! xoxox!

At 3:26 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Kitty, loved the photos! What wonderful fun. Next time I see you I will model for you. (Which means, when are you coming home to the country??)

We do have a copy here of Pan's Labyrinth. I remember when it came, from some guy named Guillermo.

"They are mighty in stinger and claw, tooth and tails!"

I am SO stealing that!

So sadly, no lyrics yet. Chris wants to wait until the cd comes out, and then you get them all with the music, since they have never been published before.

Malena will have to post about the mermaid costume, she made it. The weird hut tho was in someone's back yard, very cool it was. Everyone got a million deer ticks except me. And the shell is real. It was the coolest backyard ever, you can't really tell from the vid, but when I grow up, I want mine just like it.

The power keeps flickering, so I had best stop before it goes and I lose everything....

(much like the world will with the Voodoo Wasp-Bengal alliance comes into power...)

Man, I leave for a model fittting and 35 comments later you guys are on the MOVE!
I made the mermaid tail. It took me 3 weeks. The tail was 8 feet wide and weighed A LOT in the water. In one shot, I did a perfect sommersault...accidentally of course. And no that wasn't when I almost drowned. I can't spell either. Oh well.
Anyway, the mermaid tail...was made of sequined fabric, sequins beads and silk chiffon. I lined it in black spandex (to keep it sucked to my bum in the water) We snuck out thinking no one would be at the beach and EVERYONE on fire island came to watch the naked, yes NAKED mermaid. Miles sculpted my shells. They looked HUGE until we glued them on. And yes it hurt ilke a B ripping them off every day. Not as bad as cutting out the ticks though. I still have my scar, of which I am proud. It tells a story.
The mermaid tail got swished around so much I had to chuck it when I got home, but it did it's job well. I only wish we had stills of me in it. Ohhh, another blog!! stay tuned!

At 4:08 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Oh, I have stills, but I am pretty sure you won't post them, hee-hee....We had to bring her down to the beach in a CART. Mermaids can't walk you know....

Your shells looked great. Hot. A good look for you.

We just hot 1000 plays on You Tube!!!!! Send it to everyone!!!!!

(told Boss I thought that a LOT of those might be due to him posting it on his blog)

you are getting a lot of views (1091 as of right now)... but you don't have any leads for them to follow.... like your website... or the hidden variable website. Perhaps that would help to spread the love. you could edit to add those in the youtube info... then they can find you. Right now the best they could do is google you or follow the link to Malena's youtube page. There is no link to LaM or HV on there though.

I now have Malena's song from the music video duking it out with Skullcrusher Mountain in my head. Umm, ow?

Gorgeous video and amazing production values. Thanks for sharing your hard work and your art. Makes me happy :)

1) The video is AMAZING. Yay!
2) Needs more FabLo (just a little, we don't want her to burst of discomfort in front of the camera).
3) On my way to catch the bus yesterday I was being looked at strangely (okay, more strangely than usual - after all, my hair is green these days) - turns out I was singing the chorus fairly loudly and completely oblivious of it.
4) Good grief, woman! Go see Pan's Labyrinth NOW!!!!!

Paul, I've got a little monkey here, but I'm unwilling to sacrifice him for your cause. If you just need to borrow him, however... Also, I have access to a homemade Tesla Coil if one is needed. :)
