It Was Some Sort of Show. I think.

It's been a rather long day, which is fine, they often are, and I am just back from tonight's Gig. It was a Good Gig, as these things go, lots of people came down, including someone who mentioned she hadn't seen us since the Hera concert, but had now moved back, and when would Hera be playing here again. (Hera, when indeed??) Our new friend Aleta came and brought four of her friends and I found them absolutely delightful.

( Aleta, for the record is NOT, as she described herself "The frumpy old women at the bar" . Not in the slightest. Wonderfully fun. In fact, I kept looking for her, as she said she was coming, and when they all came in, I thought, well, no frumps there.)

I went for a brave new look tonight, and instead of Black, wore a New Spring Colour, for the first time this year. White shirt, black pants. Felt pretty sassy I did.

Sassy or not tho, I felt pretty dis-jointed from everything. Never felt like I got going, and was always behind things. Paul, who has been working non-stop on his Doctor Thesis Thing, and I would find ourselves looking blankly at the set list and asking the audience things like, "well what the heck do we play now???" And this was a Great audience, they were right with us and for us.

I found myself having conversations in my head with myself.

ME: (to myself) You have to get out there and help her.

MYSELF: Sod off. I'm tired.

ME: No really, she has been talking about Snow Parking for five minutes, and is suggesting that readings from Paul's Molecular Genetics Thesis might make for some fun.

MYSELF: So what? She knows what she's doing. I want my TiVo.

ME: No Tivo. Gig. We're all in this together. THINK of a song for her to play.

MYSELF: Ok , I have an idea.....

(songs go by)

ME: Johnny Cash followed by Polka, Polka, Polka??? THAT was your idea?????

MYSELF: Worked, didn't it??? How many episodes of Top Chef do you think the Tivo recorded today? And where are we going to plant those cool purple things we bought?

And so it went..

Cabal the Dog did not kill any cats, or eat anything bad. Queen Kitty yet lives..(Tho if she doesn't, I get to do the blog headed "The Queen is dead, long live the Queen" which might be poetic) Jungle Loves one and two, are sill in hiding, but Venus and Mim are curled in on my legs and it is cold enough for a fire, here at the Spooky House.

Where am I going to plant the cool purple things I bought yesterday???

Love and tired,
Lorraine

Why don't they climb up beside your steps?

Glad to hear you had a Good Gig and that Aleta came down to enjoy. Welcome to all the newer folks. This is such a fun place to be, and each new face (as it were) is adding something wonderful to the mix.

You and Polka polka polka... really!!! lol

long live the Queen!!!

And what are those cool purple things?

Strange show but I am glad that it was a good one.

Strange show indeed it was.

Not sure what the cool purple things are, they were Flowers, and purple. Don't want any flowers that aren't purple or white.

Not sure why....

Must go to sleep, Spooky Daughter is coming early to help me clean, and Gardener Terry to help me with my Plans. IE the hard stuff....

glad the show went well, and glad Aleta went! Would be nice if all of us lived closer, say West Michigan, honest guys, it's not so bad, just sandy and grey and cold....

I grew up in Michigan, I did. Parts of it were rather nice. I remember once we went to Holland Michigan, and of course it was all windmills and tulips. Magic when one is 6.

Of course, I had evil parents, cold, and un-feeling. Who could POSSIBLY take their kids to Holland, and NOT buy them Wooden Shoes??????

My friends and I had a wonderful time at the show! It was sort of like breaking the winter "fast" for us I think.

So the...looking blankly at the set list and asking the audience things like, "well what the heck do we play now???" was not just part of the schtick? ;-)

Seriously, thanks for such a fun and entertaining evening!

Yr most welcome! It was lovely t meet you all, please do come back.

And, uh YES! It was all schitk! We planned every blank look, and dead air moments! Yup. In fact, the whole thing was scripted from start to finnish!!!!

Sadly, no. I was a Zombie. Hoping for better tonight.

Best of luck tonight! It's funny you mentioned Holland Michigan as tulip time festival is going on right now. Its about 45 minutes south of me, and is quite nice! It has a cute downtown and shops, unlike Muskegon which is a ghost town. How sad you didn't get wooden shoes! My kids wanted them too, and uh, I did not oblige....yeah, parents can be so cruel...

I would just love to hear you play; it's too bad I'm in Rhode Island ... if ever you manage to come close by, I shall try to be there! I'm glad you had a good time, even if you were tired.

Actually, wooden clogs are extremely uncomfortable.
We have some from when we lived in Holland, that we use for the garden and I have to wear mine over slippers otherwise they destroy my feet after only 5 minutes.
So maybe your parent weren't THAT cruel...

Un-comfortable or not, my sympathies are with myself, and all the other poor children of the world who went to the Tulip Festival and did not get Wooden Shoes.

Life is magic in strange ways sometimes. It's odd that you can put a thought out to the universe and recieve. Sometimes instantly.

I was standing outside talking with the Neighbours saying how badly I wanted a nice Teenage Boy to come mow my lawn for the summer ( my hill is WICKED and I have no place for a Lawn Mower ) and darned if up pulls a pick up with a trailer full of lawn mowers and out jumps a Teenage Boy and he began to mow another Neighbours lawn!!!!!!!!

Hello?! Says I. Is that what I think it is?

Sure as heck was.

Thank you Unuverse, says I. That will do very nicely.

( Say, Universe...Can you do anything for me in regards to tonights gig??? Please?)

At 12:23 PM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

No place for a land mower in the fairy house?
But I's have to agree: That hill is beyond wicked and land mowers are usually heavy (at least the motorized ones are). It could be good work out (if not so bad for the back) except for the summers being so hot there.

At 12:24 PM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Have you tried to see if Cinnamon might not want to mow the lawn for you?

Lorraine, I came to see you at Charlie's last night (I was the Flash Girls fan in purple who came in with Aleta) and I had such a lovely time!! It was such a pleasure meeting you and Paul (I'm a LITTLE sorry I made him play the unicorn song - but I have a thing about unicorns!)

Thank you!

Rachel

Hi Rachel, and welcome!!! It was fun, despite being a Zombie. It is good for Paul to have to play it, I think. I believe he secretly like it...

I hadn't thought of getting Cinomin the Rabbit over. Heck, I should fence the thing and just KEEP rabbits....

The Universe apparently decided I ought to leave my credit card in an ATM machine. Hmmph. NOT what I was looking for. Frtunately, tho it was gone when I got back, no one seems to have gone on a Party, and I have called and canceled the account.

But irritatiing none the less.

Universe, this is going to be a REALLY good show tonight, yes??????

Glad the gig went well, and that everyone though 'absentminded' was part of the show. ;)

Sadly, I'm only a garden-variety artistic maniac, not a homicidal one, or a police-summoning one like Spacedlaw. :) I'm not that cool, I'm afraid. :)

At 8:22 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Dear Ms. Fabulous,
You really don't want rabbits to keep the lawn at a "respectable" height. Cabell would eat them, and be very proud of himself for doing it. What you want is a sheep, or a goat. Granted, this may be problematic if you live within city limits, which I'm betting you do. Besides, with rabbits you'd probably have Venus and triple M trying to get outside to hunt said rabbits; sheep and goats are too big to bother with. Maybe.

Hope tonight's gig is going well.

At 11:20 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Pantagruel, understand, I'm not AGAINST hommicidial maniacs.....I mean, hey, party on..

Cabal doesn't come to my house, and if he is here, he is leashed. I am afraid sheep are out. I live in town, and they look at me funny sometimes anyway, not that I care, but I don't like sheep. It will have to be Lawnboy.

The Universe came thru and I rocked tonight! This makes me happy. Lots of people were happy, and we made many new friends. I love gigs when it goes like that, music is so cool. My mind was in the GUTTER tho, hee-hee, I can't believe some of the things I said...

A friend of mine sent me a lazer pointer. Jungle Loves one and two are un-impressed, but Venus and Mim are way on board. HOURS of entertainment. I so need video!!!!!

Emily, how is it you speak Dutch? Spacelaw does. (along with 6 other languages) We need more comments in different languages. Like French. Which for me is NOT going well. Hmmph. Why can't I speak it????

At 6:12 AM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Bijna, Emily...
Maar het is niet (meer) optimaal.

Lorraine, je te dois des histoires en français. Des histoires de brigands, vu que ma réputation semble aller dans cette direction. Je ne t'oublie pas.

At 10:14 AM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Spacelaw, I would love the stories, and i know you haven't forgotten me, but I think it would be better if you simply moved over here for a year and we could do sort of an immersion method.

You could be my lawyer. I will pay you in Bengals. I have lots.

Need more tea. Clearly.

At 10:34 AM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Or you could just try to talk your boss into moving to France for a year (and bring you along) which would be a far better immersion.
I am afraid we can't any more kitties right now, what with the MicroCat...

At 11:45 AM , Blogger EmilyLady said...

Spacedlaw, I do wish that I could reply in French but this computer will not allow me to insert the proper letters for it ... but my French is horrendous anyway. It is really not good at all.

Happy Mother's Day Miss Lorraine! You are after all the mommy in the eyes of all those darling kitties! I think also Cabal see you has his mommy too. Have a lovely day! Love - G

I can read better than I speak too, for some reason, at least enough to get the idea.

Move to France? Like that would work. So, like what, they speak French over there or something?

At 1:15 PM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

No they are just faking it. With bloodymindness too. As a more gentle alternative (and closer) try Quebec.
They have these great expressions. Even their swear words sound cute.

ATM card in machine? what??! your spirit guides were taking a noon siesta or something!?
now, why is it that they won't transport you to karaoke at Drawing Room tonight? i just don't understand! COme ON! come hear the fantastically mellow sounds of Miss Malena.
oh yes, and Drew is home and he WILL be sining some Metallica. OY!!

At 2:23 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I thought they might be faking it. Those French...

I wish I could be at the Drawing Room too!!! Make Malena sing ABBA for me! And have Drew, if he is going to do Metallica, to do their version of Whisky in the Jar. I did it last night and rocked the place!!

I am going to be home, doing House Things. The sorts of Things one puts off and thinks " Oh, I ought to do that sometime..."

Laundry. Light bulbs. Cat Boxes. Under the bed. The Closet of doom. Bed linen.

At 4:31 PM , Blogger AletaMay said...

Glad you had a good gig Saturday night! I look forward to coming over again sometime soon.

Sorry we missed the show with your mind in the gutter!

I managed to spend my day continuing to avoid those sorts of Things that get avoided! I hope you had more luck in your efforts!

Glad the universe came through for you... though, polka seems a strange way to express its helpfulness. ;) Did Paul keep track of the drinks? I hedged my bet and had two for you this weekend, figuring that'd be a decent start, so I'm not doing five at once.

Good to know that you have nothing against homicidal maniacs. Even though I am not secretly one. :) (Or overtly, either, sheesh!)

Laser pointers are the best! Dog and my cat are both hooked on chasing the little red dot around, and around, and around. It makes me laugh until I cry, watching them.

At 7:49 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Aleta, you will have to come back. ait till you get to see Malena sometime, now THAT is a women with her mind in the gutter!

Paul had plenty to drink for me, bu I thank you as well. What good friends I have. Kitty and Drew and all have promised me drunken voicemail for when I wake up tomorrow, they are all going out tonight in LA.

Malena too, tho, we will get no tipsy messages from her. That one does not need drinks to get completely wild!

(the world is not pre-pared for what could happen should that one ever take up drinking.....)

BTW one of the friends with me Friday night is a major laser pointer wholesaler.

Aleta, would this person be interested in donating to the Great Lakes Bengal Rescue Assoc? Our Foster group would be great ful, I do assure you. There are so many people trying to help in 7 different states, and we would SO appreciate any help.

It runs into money, helping these kitties....

At 9:35 PM , Blogger AletaMay said...

Are you asking if she would be interested in donating laser pointers? That is an interesting idea. I'll check it out!

At 9:41 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I am, lets speak further..I am sure is is a tax write off as we are a non profit thing...

Glad the gig went well Lorraine. I thought of you last night. I went to go see the fabulous Eddie Izzard here in Indy, and in amongst the t-shirts, lo and behold, they're selling nice red shirts that say "Covered in Bees!" I think they should be the official Bee Team shirts;).

An Army of Bengals with Lasers!!! JUST what we need!

Covered in Bees shirts???? I need one! Must check his tour schedule. How was the show????

At 9:29 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

DanGuy, the sad thing is my overactive imagination can picture an army of Bengals with laser pointers on their heads. LOL.

Lorraine, the show was fabulous, as my face and stomach muscles will attest, still being sore. Very very funny. I think he'll be up your way soon..*checks*...May 27th and 28th at the State theatre.

At 9:33 AM , Blogger Rubius said...

lol... laser beam bengals!!! love it!!!

This blog is starting to remind me of that line in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, 'Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it'

I agree... Aleta you can't miss Malena perform with the lovely Lorraine!!! it is to die for.

and I sure wish we could have a LaM/Hera show.

Maybe I was a boring child... I was kinda into getting a set of wooden clogs when I went to Holland as a kid, but not really that upset... because they looked too uncomfortable. Vastly uncomfortable.

Hey Lorraine I just emailed you at your Paul and Lorraine email address about the whole laser pointer thing!
