Jungle Loves 1&2 (Ginger and Sabrina) Go home!

In about a week and a half Jungle Loves 1&2 are going off to their new home, with New Mother Kathy! After a series of e-mails and an hour on the phone, we realized that she was most definitely the person the Jungle Loves (and I) have been waiting for.

So I thought today, we would give New Mother Kathy a preview of her girls, as all she has are a couple of pictures I took (hee-hee, we know what they are like) and give you lot one last peek of them. Fortunately, we have Kitty doing video and pictures today.

Ok, so it's not the feature length film we have all been waiting for, but hey give us some time here!

Meanwhile, more cuteness! Jungle Love 1 and all her spots...

And here is a closeup of her most beautiful spots...

I love the ending to this one, up close and personal!

I've loved watching them, my first ever Bengal Fosters, grow from being scared, lonely, very frightened of people, hide under the chair kitties, to two really friendly (if somewhat skittish yet) curious and loving and very playful (the feather stick is your friend!) kitties in the couple months I have had them.

They are ready for a home and love, and people, and I think they are about to find it. Good luck Kathy, and keep us posted, we will miss them but couldn't be happier!

Love and Fosters,
Lorraine

wow. those kitties are cute. the spots are amazing. i would be photographing those cats constantly.
i saw a broke link but when i went to comment from the newsreader, the link was fixed.

i don't know how you foster cats. i would get too attache and haveto eat a whole tub of icecream as i gave them away.

Lovely cats, and I'm thrilled they are going to a permanent home.

I'd find it really hard letting them go too.
a friend of mine volunteers at The Lost Dogs Home here in Melbourne. It has all sorts of animals, not just dogs. I honestly don't know how she does it, knowing that so many of the animals she is working with will be euthanized. I find it hard enough just visiting animal rescue centres.

They're so lovely. i'm so glad they are getting the home they deserve.

At 6:18 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I don't mind letting them go, my home is not the one for them, they would not have been happy, and that's all I want for them.

I think they will be happy.

Fods, tomorrow is a long day! Early morning till late night..Ought to be a fun one tho.

Vampi, is that a new avatar.

Yay! \o/ I'm so happy for you and them. :)

Nose-in-the-camera shots are the best of all close-ups. mainstream flmmakers should adopt it. When they make The Ring III, I want to see the tip of Naomi Watts's schnozz right up there in the foreground.

Hurrah for the Jungle Loves finding a home, even though they'll be missed. :) You've done wonderful things for them, Quiche!

Love the pictures. Cats are so beautiful, I think. Sigh. The little girl in me just wants to stroke the pretty kitties forever. :-) Hoping you survive tomorrow and oh how I wish I could be there. I need something fun and some friends, you know? **sending all my force field concentration toward June...**

Oh, and Panta, thanks for the very cool story about last night and the answer to your question. :-)

just have a sec, so didn't try the vids - but the pics are beautiful - congratulations Lorraine, for all the love you lavished, and best of luck to Kathy, I am sure she will follow suit! I agree Grace, could use some serious fun with fiends, sigh, but with the economy causing bumps and fissures in our family business, no travel for me but hope June is better. (and Kitty, I know I still owe you a pic, but have a plan as to how I want it taken, will be a week or two, promise it will be hot...snicker...)

oh, and from past posts that i have been trying to keep up with - phiala, cool crochet carrots (i cant remember the other names - marrots?) and panta, neat sketches, your discussion on exercising your drawing muscles made me envious, i mentioned it to some friends and they are envious too:). miss drawing - and I hope to start doing some daily exercising of the drawing muscle. sigh i just fly these days, one thing to the next, no time, no time...

Hee-hee, we wil be making LOTS of little movies, I am sure of it, close ups and all.

Yes, I am going out tonight, but I think, mostly, the party is right HERE, with all the Fiends!

At 8:48 PM , Blogger Dread Val said...

Have fun going out, Quiche, and Kitty, I hope you feel better!

Being envious of my sketches done in the dark is silly. You're welcome for the story, though. ;)

No partying here… now I am for bed. My nice, lovely, not-thinly-carpeted-concrete bed. Which I will spend seven glorious hours in.

I just bet you are off for some sleep, Val! Sweet dreams!

Nobu in Vegas, MIGHT be some fun! WIsh I was going to be there!

Kitty is still having computer virus, but I am taking good care of her. We had taco bell tonight, which I had never had. Interesting. Not like Nobu.

At 9:30 PM , Blogger AletaMay said...

Oh my what lovely photos and vids. What truly lovely jungle loves! I am so pleased that they finally found a home AND that they became more comfortable in yours!

Good luck with the long day tomorrow! Is Cabal any better today? And Kitty, are you feeling okay (btw Kitty loved the photos of you on Kyle Cassidy's LJ)

You are right, Toco Bell is not really much like Nobu. I have been to Toco Bell but never to Nobu -- still I know this is true. There is a little hole in the wall sushi place in south mpls that I like and that is also not like toco bell.

At 9:31 PM , Blogger Chantrelle said...

Did i mention here that i finally got the Nobu review up on FoodPorn.com? (a little self-promotion) :) It's on the homepage.

Sorry about the Taco Bell...haven't had that since college! Oh, not true, i craved it when i was pregnant with ben!

At 9:35 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Well, I have no excuses, not being pregnant or in college, still one must try all things once...I am going to check out your foodporn and thank you!

Cabal does SEEM better today, not as much , you know what , in the night, and he was very playful today and eating well, so I am hoping....

as for FabLo's taco bell cherry, well, today was her day for that. i mean a 99 cent taco, come on! (shhhh--- don't tell Malena) (doh! she's a psychic!)

tomorrow the last reading of the US Graveyard Book tour, stay posted.

Great review, Chantrelle! :) Though I have to say I still can't see the appeal of raw fish. I can't even stomach smoked salmon. Bleah.

Yes...you can't beat Taco Bell for being at the furthest end of the Food Spectrum from anywhere.

Two bean burritos with sour cream. That's what I always got. What I really miss, though, is The Burrito Buggy down at OU. Seems scary, but actually fabulous. Oh my Fod, I want a burrito now.

Chicken soup. How great sounding (and I have just had lunch, mind, but I have read Chantrelle's entries on tuna)
Does Cabal still eat his soup and rice?
Or has Alpha Leader temporary return done away with the need for such tricks?

Long day indeed for you Lorraine, no wonder you don't have time for French. Tomorrow?

AH! I feel like I am going to jump out of my skin waiting for tonight! Can't wait to see you Q. And looking forward to meeting you Kitty.

Taco Bell?! Infidel defiler! ;) Did you just want to experience the abomination to see if it was as bad as rumored? They don't even use real cheese there! Let alone their bizarre chemistry experiments masquerading as Mexican food. My acid test for Mexican restaurants: if I can't see or hear a grandmother in the kitchen, or they don't have proper menudo on the menu in the mornings, Get Out Now.

*shudders*

On to happier things… Hurrah for Cabal eating, Dan recovering, Kitty hopefully feeling better, and caffeine. And thank all that is holy for sleeping in my own Bed last night.

Desserting the Bengals -- nice one. ;) Don't forget fish sauce! Mmm, sushi. Mackerel!

Now for the pile of work here at Saltmine U.

At 7:50 AM , Blogger vampi said...

granita is the fancy shaved ice type of thing isn't it? i just can't picture it, but it sounds intriguing.

i like trying new things, as long as it's not too complicated. gourmets tend to put too many flavors/sauces together and scar me away.

At 8:00 AM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

That was (still is, sometimes) French cuisine at its worst. When the basic product is good, then you do not need to load it with other flavours.
Most people can't actually feel all the subtle (or even the not so subtle) mixes.
In the case of the tuna granita, the raw fish was minced very thinly and frozen partially - with a few drops of vodka and a slight dusting of red pepper - giving a similar structure to the shaved ice traditional granita. It wasn't too cold to hide the taste of the fish and cool enough to be pleasant in the guests' mouth.

At 8:28 AM , Blogger Jess said...

Tuna-vodka granitas? ;/ If the chef were ayone other than you, Nahalie, I wouldn't trust it. I wouldn't believe it.

I made a stew of letover roast chicken, tomatillos, tomatoes, onions, and corn last night-- not quite as gourmet but quite yummy ofr all that. A little garlic, chilli powder, and garam masala in it. Having the rest for lunch today. Om Nom Nom.

Have fun tonight, Gayle. It's a mini Fiend Event, huzzah!

I switched from watching the video readings to reading the book a few days ago and can't say-- continuing the read-first v. listen-first conversation we stopped having ages ago-- which I prefer. They're very different experiences: I like the readings for getting to hear it the way Neil hears it-- that's really interesting to me, the way writers hear their own work. But I also like the way I hear what's on the page in my head (though, having listened to the first couple of chapters beforehand, the beginning of the book ended up sounding like Neil's reading anyway). But neither version has really interfered with the other for me.

Ramble ramble.

I just found out that only one person's signed up for my workshop so far-- andit's supposed to begin in two weeks. This bums me out. I hope people are just procrastinating. :(

Everybody at the reading tonight, Have Fun!

Just saw a wonderful idea on The Martha Stewart Show. No snide remarks, please. You make shrunken apple heads then float them in warm apple cider. Half the apple, use a melon-baller to take the core out, peel the apple, use a melon-baller to make eye sockets, use a knife for nose slits and mouth, then bake in oven for two hours at 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Serve apple cider in mug with shrunken head. Have all the shrunken heads floating in the pot of warm apple cider.

Trust me. It looked really cool!

Gorgeous pictures and videos, and so glad to hear the Jungle Loves have a good home to go to.

I hope you have fun tonight, and also that Kitty is feeling better.

Readings - GB isn't out yet over here and I haven't been able to wait and not listen to the readings - I have audio versions of Boss reading Coraline and some of the short stories, too, and because he is so good at it I tend to hear his voice when I'm reading.

Hi all!

Couldn't stand it; had to get the dang book & read it myself. It was wonderful and so many parts made me laugh out loud. As soon as I was done; Daughter wanted it; while she was busy reading that I was reading the latest installment of the Inheritance series. I nearly didn't want to continue after the fiasco that was the movie. The first books were wonderful; insightful & funny (espcially the dragon herself). I'm done with it now (thank Fod I read fast, it is over 700 pages). Now I can go back & listen to chapters 6-8. At least, I think that's where I caved.

So glad the two jungle loves have a new home & person they can boss around. They are gorgeous animals & one nearly made me cry with how her face reminded me of my beloved Gin who was lost so long ago. Not the same breed; just the same eyes. Fascinating animals.

loves & hugs; i've got to get back to work now (playing blog hookie)

I wish I could be at the Minneapolis reading as well. it's like an addiction, two readings just weren't enough!

Remember that whole defense of the Twilight book? I take it all back. The first half of the book was rather interesting to me, and then it went downhill fast. It turned into a mushy, fluffy, trite love story... Sorry about that! ;)

I just checked a collection of Diana Wynne Jones short stories out from the library, that will be much more fun!

At 1:38 PM , Blogger Jess said...

Diana Wynne Jones rocks. I've only read Howl's Moving Castle so far; I need to read a lot more. Her stuff, and Ursula K. Le Guin. (I reread "The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas" not too long ago. Why haven't I read more of her stuff?! Said I to myself.)

Shrunken-head cider! Save that one for the big June Fiend-Together. :D

I loved "Howl's Moving Castle"! Be sure to read the sequel "Castle in the Air"

Those are the only two I've read, but I just picked up "Archer's Goon" because it was mentioned in the blog by the Boss and that usually means good things :)

Too busy, must go back to work. :(

Siri and I were right by Gayle as she wrote that. Wee!

I had to get the godchild home and then go buy cat food so I am already home with my feet up! I am sure there is some wonderful hip party going on with the other feinds. Hee. But I am pretty happy to be on my way to bed. Long day I have had!

The reading was wonderful. My godchild had read all but the last chapter and then got to hear the last chapter for the first time tonight. She really enjoyed it. She also really liked the Q and A. She especially liked the question "What it is like to be so awesome?" She laughed about that one even on the way home. She also loved the chance to pet Cabal. (as did I!)

Lorraine and Kitty were very busy with the selling of Neverwear goods and other assisting type stuff. They both seem to have a great ability to be the calm in the center of the storm.

At 9:26 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Glad to hear the reading was wonderful!

I really don't appreciate people who got to go to two readings complain about not being at a third. You know, SOME of us live east of the Rockies and south of the Mason-Dixon line and never even had the sliver of a chance (without being wealthy and/or owning a plane) of being at a reading. HMPH!
;P

Heh. I just had a wickedly fiendish thought for a cold punch with the shrunken apple heads: sparkling apple cider with pomegranate/cherry juice. Or maybe just cherry juice to make it a bit more seasonal for June. All these shrunken heads floating in deep red liquid. You could also add/use blood orange juice or blood orange Italian soda.
Or even afternoon chai with a floating head in it...

Besides, I love mushrooms. I also like fish when it's done well. I grew up on cheaper fish; catfish, buffalo, and canned tuna and jack mackerel. I didn't get to taste fresh salmon until I was grown. Shrimp, now shrimp is nothing new. I've even been on a working shrimp boat in Corpus Christi bay. That was a long time ago. :)

I threw myself on Kitty yesterday saing I didn't know how to dress, I had no clothes and no clue as to what to buy, and HOW did one do it.

She , wise women, took me to a couple local shops (one of them being Wal mart) and got me a few things for very little $$, and darned if I didn't feel put together.

Great feeling. So much mostly I work alone, and get pretty used to sweats and tee's (comfortable and great look) but it is good to know I can clean up nicely when I need to.

Hurrah for Fiends at readings! So wish I could've been there for that reading, too. Though I am NOT complaining, she says hurriedly.

How many lurking Fiends-in-waiting do we have here in the comments? *thumps the walls* And why did none of you Fiends-in-waiting come say hello to me on Monday night? Hrmpf.

How did no pictures get taken of Quiche?! Clearly this must've been the doings of the Voodoo Wasp/Bengal Alliance.

On the subject of food -- tonight I had sushi, with no fewer than three kinds of mackerel, and thought of you, Chantrelle. And yes, Jess, I'm allergic to bananas and shellfish, in that 'How far away is the Epipen?' and 'How close is the ER?' kind of way. Makes omakase sushi perilous.

Val, glad you are up to chat with this sadly cafine dosed women, I was begining to wonder if anyone was there.....

Yes, we need more lurkers!!!!!! To de-lurk I mean...

My dinner was not so exciting, leftover pizza from Kitty and I, with the Bengals fighting for it, tho they do not LIKE it...

At 11:07 PM , Blogger Dread Val said...

Dude, how much coffee did you have? ;) I am definitely still up and awake -- it's only 11 here. Be happy to chat until you wind down. ;)

Nothing wrong with leftover pizza at all. Except, apparently, if you are a Bengal, and then it is just a pawn in the quest for world domination. Or Spookyhaus domination.

At 11:11 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Two cups. Six and eight hours ago. I am so a lightweight.

May be winding down.

They don't even LIKE it, weirdo Bengals....

Were is Nathilie? She is often about this time of night, telling me to go to sleep!

At 11:18 PM , Blogger Dread Val said...

Wow, a whole two cups, huh? ;) Actually, that's probably good -- caffeine addiction is an ugly thing.

Dunno where Nathalie is... I could tell you to go to sleep, though the coffee might have other ideas for you.

Bugga!

Why do the parties have to happen at school pick-up time? Added to that we had to go to the mall to find something to wear because tomorrow is “Come as your favourite pop star” day, at school.

So tomorrow, I’ll be waking up to try and create passable versions of Miley Cyrus and Sharpay.

If anyone’s still awake, do you have any tips on curling very long hair?

At 1:45 AM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

how about the old wrap in rags thing we used to do?

At 1:48 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ha Ha.

Yes I have fond memories of that! My mum did that to me once when I was a kid and ended up tying it all up in knots!!

We do have a hot curling thingy, but the curls don't last long.

At 2:00 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Sorry DragonSally, I forgot to mention thank you, and if I knew how to tie the rags, I would. Because, then no.1 daughter would just get up in the morning and, voila, there be curls!!

I am a little stranded as far as comments are concerned because the new firewall at work does not allow me to access to log in and/or comment (although I can see the blogs, wich is cruel!) unless I am in a meeting room and logged on to the public wireless system instead of the work related one.
These people expect me to work? Shocking. Especially considering how much of that I do already. A girl needs a little internet break now and then, doesn't she? whine, whine whine (yes, at least I have a job to whine about, this is f#@king dandy) whine some more.
There.
It's said and bemoaned.

In other new, I am afraid I can't contribute anything regarding the curling of long hair, mine having always refused to cooperate (and was shorn for that reason).
Wear a wig?

No cheese and peppers! The shock. That is DIRE. But you are right: cheese IS little more than moldy milk. In particular French cheese.
But it can be extremely addictive.

I drink something like half a pot of coffee a day (it's not obvious, is it?), and it's probably not good for me. In my defense, I don't take it at Starbucks La Brea Tar Pits™ strength.

Ahh, no pictures. that's a shame. I would have enjoyed some pictures. Finished the book last night-- what a book! Lovely lovely lovely. Now I'll have to go back and hear it read.

They're blocking you from logging in, Nathalie? Fie, for shame! There's haiku to be written! There's idle chat to be had! This is most disagreeable. :(

Yeah, come out, lurkers! \o/

Yes indeed -- we need more delurking fiends here! I love the shrunken apple heads in cider idea, how so very cool and fun, I have written that one down, the variations are cool too. Fish is ok, fungus is NOT, cheese is ok, eggs and milk are not, shudder. I am allergic to bananas too, but not as severely as Nat is. Glad the readings went well and were fun! sounds like it was a great evening!

I have no food allergies but (as I've said) am vegetarian. I love fungus, cheese, peppers, etc. Toast with pumpkin butter sounds great! Morning. Yes, it is my usuel first comment of the day. Hi. I'm awake. Where's my damm tea?

At 8:47 AM , Blogger Arwenn said...

Then there's that whole lovely "tea IN bed" thing....I don't see any reason why the Bengals can't do this for you :)

At 8:53 AM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

You are right! Why don't they bring me tea in bed? You know, if I had to pick ONE thing I would want in a lover, should I ever be mad enough again to consider such a thing, THAT would be what I would want. Just bring me tea in bed every morning..

At 8:55 AM , Blogger Jess said...

So, Ms. Fabulous, now that you've had some, what exactly is in "damn tea?" Curious fiends want to know.
CX

Now. On to more pressing matters...

Lu-u-ur-r-rker-r-rsss! Come out, come out wherever you are! Embrace your inner fiend! We need new bl, I er, mean fiends!
CX

I didn't like cold cheese when I was young. I would eat pizza and cheese toast. Then I met my DH in college, and I started eating cold cheese. Granted, I also found out there were other flavors of cheese than cheddar and mozzarella. I wouldn't even eat a family dish known as Ma's Cheese Dish until I was grown. Now I make it every Thanksgiving and Christmas, at least.

Now, berries, there's something I can't stand. Not allergic, just don't like them. Strawberry flavor is okay, but I avoid it when possible. Raspberry I can not stand. Want me to have a fit in public? Put raspberry syrup on the plate then my piece of chocolate cake on top of it. The only thing I've found that I like with raspberry in it is raspberry-chipotle salsa.

In defense of coffee!

Caffeine addiction is not ugly. It is beautiful! I would argue that it is one of the best addictions out there.

And.

People who must have their tea in the morning before thinking or writing or being with other people are just as addicted to caffeine as us much maligned coffee heads.

Coffee fills my veins.
My taste buds sing with pure joy.
Bliss found in each sip.

Is it bad that one of the things I wonder about with the current financial crisis is how the flow of coffee beans will be affected? What if there is coffee rationing in the future. I imagine a steampunk sort of future where I run an underground coffee speakeasy.

Also. I can quit any time. Really. Maybe. Not.

Oh, but caffeine withdrawal is so much fun! You know, everyone deserves to have a three day headache just to quit caffeine. I've done it several times. My main source of caffeine was, and still is really, sodas. What a wonderful creation; the caffeine blocks the absorption of calcium in the body and the phosphoric acid leaches what's already there out of the body. Not that I've completely given up sodas, mind you. I just try not to have any around the house. And I make decaf iced tea.

At 11:39 AM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Ariandalen, one of the odd things about me is that I absolutely hate soda. I gagged on seltzer once at the age of five and was always scared of soda after that; when I finally, accidentally took a sip of what I thought was lemonade at a friend's tenth birthday party, I realized that I just hated carbonation of any kind. I find the sensation of fizziness unpleasant .... oh well. Soda isn't really such a bad thing to hate.

~Emily

At 11:55 AM , Blogger AletaMay said...

I don't really like soda much. I go through times when I crave it -- usually when I am getting a cold or flu where my throat craves the carbonation. My cold beverages of choice are ice tea and lemonade and often I like them mixed.

I have been through caffeine withdrawal. I gave it up for lent once. I did not grow up in a tradition that had you give up anything for Lent and I always sort of thought it sounded like an interesting practice so I decided to give up caffine. I did suffer for a couple of days but I knew it would be temporary and did not mind too much.

I have cut way down on coffee. There was a time when I would drink a full pot of coffee before going to work at around noon. Then while I was at work I would go to the coffee shop across the street once or twice a day to get a latte.

Now I am pretty much a two to three cup a day person.

True for me -- but might not be for anyone else:

Lesser vice, coffee.
Sloth, inertia, on line games
These, my true downfall.

Mmmm - coffee. I'm seriously worried now about the possibility of a credit-crunch-fuelled coffee shortage. Do you think I should start stockpiling coffee beans?

I think I missed the whole Diana Wynne Jones conversation: 'House of Many Ways' is another Howl book. And I love 'Deep Secret' - not least becasue it was the main reason I plucked up the courage to go to my first convention, which was a VERY good idea.

Q, you mentioned checking out pet passports and such for the UK - Is Cabal coming to the UK for the tour?

At 2:04 PM , Blogger Jennabel said...

Mind you, I am not AGAINST coffee, I just don't really LIKE it, taste wise and it's about three times as strong as tea, and I have a low tolerance for caffine. So when I drink it, it's like drugs.

Cabal is not coming to the UK now, but it is good to know he CAN, if he wants to.

I missed a lot with the Shrunken head cider and Dianna Wynne Jones (Big fan, of both) How did we do the cider again? Can someone e-mail me?

Yup. All I want is someone who will bring me tea. Oh, and who speaks French. And perhaps works in Law Enforcement.

Not that I am particular or anything.

It is said by the Wise Ones that during times of economic hardship folks still buy booze and books. I would add coffee to that list. I am a caffeine-based life form, and have the molecular diagram to prove it :)

Seriously, though..... went w/out caffeine in any form (well, as much as possible--it is hidden in more places than one might think) for a year once. Horrible. Worse than the year w/out chocolate (no, REALLY!)

There is a chain of coffee "trailers" (since in a lot of places we don't have any buildings) called Green Beans; they bring java, tea and civilized coffee house surroundings (including some great World Beat music!) to Coalition bases in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Qatar, Horn of Africa... you name it.
Any place they can set up a generator and get in clean water, they hook up one of these trailers (they come in various sizes.)

I think the powers that be realize they can order people not to drink alcohol, but they can't keep 144,000 plus humans away from the all-powerful bean! :)

(Complete with flashing lights, mad calliope music, Neighbour Lady with a pink wig and Dragon Puppet, and Neighbour Man dressed as the Grim Reaper to menacingly hand out the treat bags.) All in good fun I'm sure, but only for them. }:(

I want to go to a steampunk coffee speakeasy! It must be a book, and then a movie, and then a national chain. Make it happen, Aleta!

Skull blog! Oh wow.

At 6:02 PM , Blogger Dread Val said...

Oh yes, Quiche, you know me too well… I can't resist talking about coffee. ;)

My coffee preference is formed by my mother, who lived in Morocco until she was 13 or so. She grew up with Turkish coffee being the only sort of coffee around, and so that's what she likes; and so that's what I grew up with. Anything else just tastes like brown water with some grit in it. I agree wholeheartedly with the proverb that coffee should be black as hell, strong as death, and as sweet as love.

Nothing else is coffee, as far as I am concerned. Not those insane chemistry experiments concocted in Starbucks, not the wretched frappucino blended roaring monstrosities, and certainly not instant coffee, that abomination.

3rd best thing about last night: Mr. Gaiman made a group of people scrunch together so another group of people could move over and see him, instead of staring at some sort of church thing all night.

2nd best thing - Neil Freakin' Gaiman.

1st best thing - meeting actual fiends face to face. Cat and Gaypet and Aletamay and Cabal and the Fabulouslorraine Herself.

OK, so meeting Himself was kinda cool, too.

Random thoughts while sitting there:
These fiends are cool. I think Mr. Neil was hungry - he said while he was talking "I knew the taste of the story." and later "Sometimes it's just not cooked." Or maybe it's because I was hungry.

Got a Neverwear Graveyard shirt, and mousepad. Guarded the T-shirt table and Quiche's car keys for a little bit. Wept a bit at the end of chapter 8.

Drove 526.3 miles, door to door. Weary unto coma tonight, so will say good night - all the diet coke (caffeine of choice) won't keep me awake. The stretch between Albert Lea and Ames is deadly dull.

Wish there had been more time for a fiends party, but Wednesday night is a school night, after all. Even for old ladies...wait'll June - I bet we'll stay up past 12:05.

Thanks to Cat and Lorraine and Aleta and Gayle for making me feel welcome.

Oh, and thanks to the Boss for writing.

Siri -- DUDE. That's some serious driving. Sounds like it was well worth it, though.

I know that the website design is percolating because I'm finding myself Not Designing, a state quite similar to Not Writing and Not Painting, two other things I excel at Not Doing. In this state, I have just spent the last 25 minutes wandering around my place trying to get dressed and find my keys and go forage for food. Then spent 13 minutes looking online for potential food's nutritional content. Why did I not eat all day? I was busy designing.

Sigh. I badly need a minder.

Argh.

That is one heck of a drive, Siri. Glad it was a good time, though-- sounds like a very fun night!

Yes, and 69 is COLD for here. It's under 70, which means blankets, and fire, and hoodies and fur-lined boots. :)

All the shops here are full of Halloween stuff, and we don't even celebrate it and yes, its all too cutesy for words.

I want dark scary stuff. spooky. not Disneyland scary.

It's pretty cozy here. Long day tomorrow. Gig tomorrow night, and houseguests, who fortuenately also have a gig and won't be there until late.

Of course, I am grumbling as I won't get to thier show, The Magnetic Fields, but if you are in MInneapolis and CAN, go see them! Or if they are comign to your town, GO!

You will be happy.

Darn, that was most of my blog for tomorrow. Must think of something else now....

Or not, I mean 168 comments? There has to be LOTSS of people who never make it that far...

H-HA! There's a blog! I shall shrink heads and write about it!!!!!

Glad that's settled.

At 9:35 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Cool! A shrunken head blog!
Did Ms. Kitty help you buy a new camera? One with a view screen so that you can see what you're pointing at?

At 9:39 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Damn, you stole my idea, well, in a fashion.

I was going to suggest that we all submit photos of our own variations of skulls in cider for the night garden project.

At 9:43 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

We still can, Dragonsally! Just means that I'll need to buy apples to do it. Life is sooooo hard.
;)

So. Still no delurking of new bloo, I mean fiends.
Maybe after Ms. Fabulous blogs shrunken heads?

I think pictures of shruken head cider is a GREAT idea!!!!!!! I will add that to my SHrunken Head Blog, along with directions for anyone who missed it, (Like Me) tomorrow!!!!!!

Should we post the day after Halloween? Kind of a Post Halloween Party? I will do a post with everyones pics!!!

I like this.

Kitty didn't get me a camera. I needed clothes too badly and got them instead. Right move, I look great. The 14 year old who lives with us even said I looked good and WAY fashionable.

THAT is the test..

Mmmmm, beer and scotch. Is that to be the new currency? Can we throw in chocolate as well?

And FabulousLorraine, does that mean you're our official head shrinker? Should we call you "Doctor"? :)

At 9:50 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Yes, where are those lurkers? I had hoped for at least a couple. We need new blood....

Ok, that might not have been an inducement, given that we are currently on the subject of shrinking heads.

I think this Foster post will go to 200 by morning. A good omen for the kitties, yes?

The lurkers could help...De-lurk for a cause!

At 9:51 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

I can just hear any one of us at a convention.

"Yeah, I'm a Fabulous Fiend and Lorraine is our Head Shrinker."

You have definitely done something right to get such accolades from a 14 year old!

At 9:52 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Of course! Chocolate is good. But cake must be only white, with white frosting. This I dedree.

I will be the Head SHrinker, but not Doctor, that's Dr Score.

Speaking of Doctors, I saw Doctor Wicked last night. We need some computer troubles, so he will come post again...

Has anybody had a chance to introduce themselves to Boss as a Fabulous Fiend? I really would love to see the look on his face. I mean, he has thingies, but Ms. Fabulous has fiends!

At 10:14 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Darn! Stopped the conversation cold yet again. ;)

At 10:15 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

To true! He knows you are Fiends. Someone should. Sure didn't like putting him on a plane tonight, very tired man he was. We had a good day tho, and for that I am happy.

At 10:16 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

No you didn't! I at least am here! Where is everyone else? SUrely Nathile at least, and our Melbourne cell are around? And who knows where the lurkers lurk...

I need a massage.

At 10:18 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I was just wondering how to phrase it.

I guess the direct approach is best "What's a thingy".

When Lorraine's boss was here in Melbourne 6 months ago I was going to ask "Do writers have groupies?" and "If they do what would you call them"?

But he didn't ask me.

At 10:22 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Ugh. The man really needs some down time at home. I bet his bones feel tired.

Something about needing to strike while the iron is hot, though some of us are a bit wary with iron. ;)

At 10:23 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I don't think he has Groupies exactly, not in that sense, but he has very devoted Fans, and they call themselves Thingies, I believe. Not just fans, but more than that.

Not quite like Fiends here. Fiends are more like friends. Tho, I am walking on thin ice here, and if there are any thingies out there who want to clarify, I'd love to hear from you....

At 10:24 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Shame he didn't ask you Jacquib, cos we all would have nodded yes quite sagely. I certainly felt like a groupie ♥
hehe, Melbourne cell is here.

Sending massaging vibes to Lorraine.

Poor Boss, he needs a big big rest.

At 10:25 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Adriandale, he said something very like today on the way to the airport, but all of us a kind of driven aren't we? The need to do what we need to do and to do it well, no matter what we do...

At 10:26 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Jacquib, I think MistressMousey or DanGuy could explain it best, though Ms. Fabulous may have the whole story. I couldn't do the story justice. Unfortunately, MistressMousey and DanGuy are probably both asleep even though they live on opposite coasts.

At 10:29 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Being a solid fan does not make one a Groupie, says the women who spends time in Rock World.

Writers don't mind people who really love what they write, and certainly don't mind those people telling them how much they love it.

And feel welcome to do it.

I'm sure Nathalie would be chiming in about now, if her workplace would let her. Mean old sysadmin blocking commenting on this blog. ::pout::

Yes, sleeping they are, and they could explain it. Hmmph. How very inconsiderate. And here I have been e-mailing with Mistress Mousie for the last couple days, ought to have asked her..

Who is awake?

At 10:33 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Thanks for that. I thought I felt my foot slide across a line there after I'd already hit the "publish" button. As you may have noticed, my big mouth and now my fat fingers can get me into a lot of trouble, on occasion.

At 10:33 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Nathilie can't be at work YET, it's only about 6:30, she gets up at like, hmm...FIVE. Probebly working her way thru the comments with cups of strong tea...

At 10:35 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Looks just like us, Melbourne, and maybe Val. Can't tell for sure since it's been an hour since Val posted a comment.

Truth to tell, I'm probably to bed once we reach 200.

Jacquib, I wouldn't worry about it. I haven't noticed you crossing any lines. Me, on the other hand...
