Malena DOES like NIN! Who Knew????

I was going to do an entire Blog about "Malena, does she or doesn't she?" in regards to the whole NIN debate, hopefully ending with me being right, but the little Vampire hopped on and commented before I could do it, leaving me with nothing, and not to mention WRONG.

Sigh. Dev, you have to tell me these things. Just goes to show, you can know someone for years and never know....So I don't know NIN, where should I start, and more importantly, why???

This is one of the pictures, by the way, that our friend David took at the event the other night. It makes me happy. NEARLY as happy as the Neverwear photo Kitty did, to forstall another war, hee-hee! (Hey Kitty reads and posts here, David doesn't) Both of them are great to work with, and make me feel comfortable in front of the camera. No easy task that.

Dog school was full on Boot Camp tonight. Cabal is starting to get the idea that if he runs thru the course and does everything, he gets chicken. I will get fit. Between that and work tho, I missed my rehersal for a bizzare church gig I picked up on Sunday. Michaela is going to sing me the songs on Saturday, on the way to the Renn Faire.

(yes, I am going to a Renn Faire as a customer, WITH the Dog. First time for everything)

No Bengals escaped today. They got boiled chicken tonight, which the fosters LOVE, Mim is ok with and horrifies Venus. "WHAT??? IS!!! THIS!!!!" she says. " I can't eat THIS. You suck!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I am ging to stop staring at the screen now, hoping something exciting will occur, and go and stare at some SVU instead.

Love and NIN,
Lorraine

What a Fablo photo! You are so lovely! And brave, to be taking the Dogness to the RenFaire. :-) And I love that the late great Johnny Cash did a Reznor song. That was cool.

Right now, my 16-year-old cat, T.I., who is the most laid back cat I've ever ever seen or heard of, is lying on my feet and purring so loud that it sounds like a runaway vacuum cleaner! Does he care that I am terribly allergic to him? Do I care? Not really. For purring like this, I'll just take the drugs and the nasal spray and buy lots of tissues and like it.

(and not to be a total downer, but the reason I'm still up and on the internet is because I'm really worried about my older sister, who lives in beautiful Santa Barbara and has just received a mandatory evacuation notice due to the wildfires. her five biological kids are older and four have their own homes, but she has two adopted children ages 2 and 4, and she loves her beautiful house and neighborhood and there's no way to fit everything she wants to save in one car or even several cars . . . just worried and sad, so I'm staying awake, and if I post here a bunch of times in the next few hours, you'll know why -- okay, back to the regularly scheduled discussions and thank you for 'listening')

They are both BEAUTIFUL shots. You look lovely in them Lorraine, the kindness and playfulness of your spirit is in your eyes.... in your smile. It seems to me that photographers capture spirit.... essence. It is a skill I would like to learn.

bulfinches aglaia... that is amazing I just finished reading the post and was thinking about Trent Reznor and his genius... and Johnny Cash's voice started singing Hurt in my head... before I saw your first comment. I am sorry to hear about your sister. Keep us updated. Here's hoping her home stays out of the flames and she and her family stay safe.

Lorraine if you are a Johnny Cash fan at all go check out his video for "Hurt" on youtube. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=SmVAWKfJ4Go

Perfect Drug is one of my favourite songs and vids too.

Past the Mission was the song that decided me on Tori.. other than Cornflake Girl which I had liked from the first time I heard it on the radio. I was given her CD overnight to see if I liked it and if I wanted to buy it from her (this was back when I was ..oh... 14-15ish) and I listened to the first verse and chorus of Past the Mission and said 'I'm keeping this'

I am a huge Johnny Cash fan, and will check that out. I am of the school that says any song can be done by anyone. Has anyone ever heard Richard Thompson doing Briteny Spears??? Jus him and a guitar.

Keep us posted on your sister, Aglala. That's so scary....I remember when Malena was so close last year.

What do you do? What do you take??? I would guess that's when you learn what is important,

Feel free to post away, we send our love and prayers.

And purrs are the best. I think he knows you are upset, they know these things, Venus and Mim do anyway. He is trying to make you feel better.

Mim is chewing on my shoe as if it was the only thing she gets to eat. HOW can they not like chicken????

At 9:05 PM , Blogger Rubius said...

edit to clarify: I was given Tori's Under the Pink CD by a highschool classmate to see if I wanted to buy it from her.

DUDE! That photo of you rocks! You look so relaxed! Make it your new icon. :)

Going to renfaires as a customer weirds me out every time I do it; I've worked them for way too long. That will be a whole new episode of Dog School/Boot Camp... do they still have the elephants at the Minnesota faire?

Oh, and re: NIN -- you might like the Ghosts I-IV album, which is all open-source and free.

Aglaia, my best wishes to your sister; enjoy the comfort of the purrs.

At 9:23 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Thanks! I love that hoto, but what do you think would happen if I changed a Kitty photo for one by someone else???

SHE is my icon photographer!

At 9:28 PM , Blogger Dread Val said...

Hmm, you're right, dude. An all-out photo war would result. Not like that hasn't happened before on this blog or anything...

At 9:29 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

We can do this tho.....

At 9:33 PM , Blogger Dread Val said...

Nice!

I'm busy trying to find a serious article on the correct usage of 'dude.'

Can you tell I'm Not Painting?

Just wanted to see how this would look...

Kitty may have Words tho...Maybe I will change it every time I post.....

Okay, now I am walking away from the computer and going to make myself dinner, finally, and then Paint, Really I Mean It.

this is the best photo of you I've ever seen FOR A HEAD SHOT. It's super glam and I LOoooove it. I love the Neverwear photo too. It shows off your red hair the best.

I hope your sister is safe from the fires. We will all pray for her. The thought of leaving my house scares the shit out of me. Especially with all Miles sculptures. Let me know if she needs anything. We love you.

Smokin' pictures!

Little Earthquakes takes me right back to high school, hanging out in my friend Allison's bedroom in the afternoon, being lazy with nothing special to do. Oh, how I wish for those acres and acres of free time stretched out around me.

Bulfinch's Aglaia, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your sister and her family.

Thank you all, and I bet you're right, Fablo: T.I. knows I'm staying up way too late, wandering around, making tea, flipping channels, trying to read, checking the internet over and over for news, so he's lying on my feet to try to make me sit still. He's such a great cat. (achooo!) And thank you all, so much, for your care and concern. I haven't heard anything new, but it's night of course and I doubt my sis will know anything until the morning at the soonest. And I keep thinking, really, what would I take? Family pictures, icons, books, artwork, keepsakes from the kids' growing-up years, gifts and heirlooms from grandparents and parents . . . and how soon could I get to it and get it packed?? Anyway, I'm sure at some point tonight I'll just fall asleep whether I will or no, but not yet. Like worrying ever helps, but sometimes I just can't talk myself out of it.

Thank you again and bless you ALL, you wonderful beautiful people!!

Beautiful picture, dear.
But I think I still prefer the neverwear picture.

Crossing fingers and toes for your sister, Bulfinch's Aglaia. Hey! You have a case of double personality too! I thought only Lorraine had that problem..

Oh and before I forget...
Happy 4th July to you all!

At 11:03 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

We all have more than one identity I am thinking...

My Bengals are curled on my legs right now, washing eachother. I just sent a pleading letter about my Fosters to everyone I know in the Minneapolis area. I know there is a home for them. I need to find them a home in this area.

July 4th will be good. I am playing with Johnny and then doing fireworks!

At 11:10 PM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Good fun!
Just be careful with your hands (and that is regarding the fireworks not Johnny. Tell him to watch his as well). Django Reinhardt got famous for playing with burnt fingers but it is nowhere a reason to emulate him.

At 11:14 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Johnny actually saved Boss'es son at a Guy Fawkes party some years ago. We don't light them ourselves for the 4th....

At 11:36 PM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

GOOD!
There are too many silly accidents involving fireworks every year.

At 5:53 AM , Blogger ivenotime said...

True enough on fireworks accidents - my husband lit a big one some years ago, and our dog grabbed it and proceeded to run around, with this rocket shooting flaming balls out sideways - talk about dodge and scatter, it was the funniest thing ever. after the thing went out.

Grace, hope your sis is ok, prayers and good wishes to her, perhaps the winds will die down today. And you my dear, need to get some sleep, pls. take care of yourself!!!

Lorraine, that is a knockdown deadon beautiful portrait, just lovely, cant decide which i like better - that one or the nevewear one.

no kitty on my lap, but a fat corgi rooting around for cereal bits. and i need to get off my butt and go grocery shopping as there is no food here. Panta - did you paint? and what is the proper use of dude?

First of all that is a truly fabulous photo! Wow.

It looks like a rather interesting multi-generational crowd is going to be showing up at Charlie's tonight. Should be fun!

At 10:02 AM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

It is going to be a fun show tonight! An early one too, which I do like, we can watch fireworks afterwards....Wish I could bring the Dog, but he is kind of big for the Pub.

Finally fell asleep on the couch about 3:30 a.m., then woke up in a dazed panic not sure where I was or what time it was or even what day it was at about 6:00 a.m. Had a tiny nap at about 10:30 a.m. I look like hell on a cracker, and there's no news except that the fire has spread 5,000 acres in the last 36 hours and is 0% contained. Sigh. No reports of houses destroyed yet, so that's good. Thank you again for your kindness, everyone. I'm going to try to function today and do some basic things like laundry and a grocery run and be thankful that I live in a country where I can use the internet freely and connect with such beautiful people like yourselves. Have a great show tonight, Fablo!! *hugs all around, including the Dogness*

Fireworks on the river after the show is a big draw! Cabal would be fun -- but yeah, too big I am sure. It looks like Laser Coey, her guy, her sister, and various parents of them all are likely to be there. Also maybe my older brother and sil along with their friends. Should be fun!

Grace, my thoughts continue to be with you today. It is hard not to know for sure what is happening, I know.

At 10:40 AM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Like most (all?) animals, Cabal is also probably scared of fireworks so he is better safe at home
(although I am sure he would enjoy all the attention and fussing).

At 10:53 AM , Blogger Kitty Cat said...

hey all!
First off, my thoughts are with Miss Aglaia's sister, let's steer that fire clear mentally and put it out with our minds. John Spink, our flea mkt friend, his house was in a fire path as well, he has been very worried while out on tour. Let's hope it is all contained soon.

Q, it is ok with me on you having ALL DAVID photos ALL THE TIME.
he is GREAT.
WOnderfuL.
STUPENDEOUS. (can't spell yet today)
i like the one of the back of your hair that you posted the other day, really shows the red.
not a joke! it is ravishing redness.

As for the Tori Live CD? that is the show where I MET Malena for the first time. i got you gals tickets (after some tussling, if i recall correctly)
You two came to see me in Ghosty! i was a tiny humingbird of an emotional shipwreck after doing that tour and making the jewelry at the same time.
and you two were so sweet to me.
xoxo from LA where we miss you.
and hello T.I. tell him i love a loud purrbox.

At 11:24 AM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I don't want ALL David photos, I need my Kitty too!!! I forgot that was where you met Malena for the first time. And there was tussling about the tickets, but all went well!

Fire's are scary. We will send Good Thoughts out your way, and to everyone in the path....

Looks like lots of peole are coming to hear Johnny and I tonight! I keep getting e-mails from more. Stillwater will some mighty fine madness.

OK. I so have to wash this red hair of mine. It looks like it hasn't even brrn brushed since I got back from LA. Which it might not have. I get pretty casual when I am alone....

I agree about the dog, he would hate it. I am taking him out for the day tomorrow to make up for it, we are going to the Renn Faire.

At 11:29 AM , Blogger Kitty Cat said...

i guess i should quit hoping this is another fake gig trick and Malena is going to airport to get you.

i will always photo you, you know it!

At 12:57 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Oh Sweetie! I wish it was! This gig is real tho, and I wouldn't use the same trick twice. Why don't you guys come and surprise ME at my gig tonight????

At 1:29 PM , Blogger K said...

I wish I could come surprise you at the gig myself!

I am procrastinating from doing work that I need to have finished tonight because I'm going on holiday (or, if I don't finish it, I'll be driving around the Lake District on Monday looking for an unsecured WiFi network!)

I know who NIN are, but can't call any of their songs to mind. Were they the horrible crashy band that my friend James used to listen to but I couldn't bear, or was that Slipknot? I know he had a NIN T-shirt.

At 1:54 PM , Blogger gaypet said...

Oh please bring Dog tonight! Would that be allowed in the pub? I used to bring my dogs to the pub (different pub) all the time but can't any more. Another regular is allergic. We will watch him for you if you bring him! :)

Anyway, I am sending out the photos of fosters to the rescue people I know in the area. I'm sure we will find them a great home!

See you tonight. Is there some secret handshake for those of us who read the blog? There should be.

Okay. No more uncontained fires in California, or anywhere else. Period. No more rain for a while where it is/has flooded. Here's to everyone being safe and healthy, particularly in both places.

I hope everyone is having a safe and fun Independence Day!

That is a really beautiful photo of you, Ms. Fabulous!

Grace I hope your sister is ok, she and California are in my thoughts today.

Lorraine,
Nice photo!:) It really shows off your eyes.

Somehow it doesn't surprise me that Malena likes NIN. I'm a fan from way way back (anybody remember industrial?;) and I'd recommend starting at the beginning, with Pretty Hate Machine. Why? Because it's made of awesome, that's why.;)

Hope you have a great gig, and dear Dog behaves at the Renn Faire.

Silly Bengals, not liking chicken..they don't know how good they have it. Have you tried cooking them fish?
