New Bath Tub

Made an offer on the amazing Clawfoot Bath Tub today. ( which includes the rest of the house and land ) and I think all will be well and I will soon have my wonderful Witchie House on the Hill!

My head is , of course whirling and I can't much think of things except things like " where do the books go? " and " gods I hate that fridge " and " who choose these colors and how do I re-paint EVERYTHING " but I am truly happy and in love. It's going to be such fun making it all mine!

( Thanks for the info on the make your own bone chandelier , but some things are possible and some , well, I fiddle real good, but make my own bone chandelier ??? Won't happen. I will get one tho with spiders and bats and gargoyles! )

I am going back now to my whirling brain which seems to be saying over and over, " I have a House? I just bought a House?????? "

Love and Land,
Lorraine

Lovely lovely tub:).

About the chandelier: I'm a crafty witch myself so sometimes I forget that there are those that don't like being covered in paint and mod podge and glitter. LOL. In other words, it was just a suggestion.:) Just make sure once you get yours you post the picture so's we can all share the chandelier goodness.:)

Hurrah for whirling brains, what cool bathtub, and the fun is only just beginning. You will enjoy making your house your own, choosing paint colors, etc. Best of luck and have a great time! Of course all of us here can help serve as color consultants, etc., it seems we are an artistic bunch, hee hee. I will have to ck out the chandeliers later as oops I need to get ready for work, where does time go? Apple, best of luck and all good wishes to you.

Congratulations! That's a gorgeous tub. My condolences on the fridge.... how bad is it? It's not the dreaded avocado green, is it? :-D

There are some cool antique-style fridges out there

Congratulations on the new house Lorraine! It looks fantastic and I can't wait to see the rest (even in its pre-fabulous condition). I'll come out and see it just as soon as I work a few hours of overtime to pay for the gas! The tub also looks marvelous and I will now have to retune my psychic phone call sensors.
*laugh*

Oh, and it's my sister's, husband's, mother. My sisters, brother's, mother would be my mother. *grin* But surly you have better things to occupy your mind with, other than pedigrees.

Spliced genes and new home dreams!

Congratulations on having the offer accepted! How could they have dare refused you, I ask?

The tub looks awesome. I stayed in a house with a claw-foot tub the summer before my last year of college and became very fond of bathing in it while listening to NPR and BBC radio.

Woot! Congratulations! I'm terribly jealous. The house of my dreams is on the market again, but it's just a little out of our price range - by about $100,000. ;) But, that's not stopping me from going to see it tomorrow!

Seriously happy dance!!!! How much with the Fantastic is that?! The best part of moving is picking out paint colors and decorating and such. The worst, I think, is unpacking. So make sure you get lots of friends and good wine (or beer).

Appleblossombeck, I know you'll find something perfect. Lots of goodness your way. :)

Hey Mina- what's up with that? Where's this mystery house? Is it in Fredneck? (Which Raevenblade and I adore, btw- He's always said if we didn't live where we do we'd live there.) MLS number to my email please...LOL :-D

lol...dreaded avocado green...lol... I have a horrid off-yellow that could compete with any dreaded avocado green... especially with the ugh salmon countertops, peeling fake wood wallpaper and green and off-pink walls in my appt ... thank goth it is a rental that I will likely have to leave because of lovely little LaMie anyway.... it is all about the wall-hangings with a place like this

what colours are you thinking of... any favourites?

Congratulations! Now, if you close in less than a month, I'll be surprised. It usually, though not always, takes that long for home inspections, appraisals, etc. to get completed. :)

And there is a worse color than avocado green......burnt orange. Granted, it can always be painted if it's in otherwise working order.

For gargoyles, you can always try Design Toscano (www.designtoscano.com). Cool stuff, lots gothic, some medieval, some art noveau, but most very cool. :) My in-laws love us as we have gotten lots of Christmas and birthday presents ordered from Design Toscano.

ooh.. ooh our fridges match... mustard is the horrid off-yellow I was trying to describe... mustard fridge with a solid ice block of freezer space... I highly recommend ANY other colour and style of fridge.... avocado and bright orange excepted (my office at work is orange...ugh ugh and triple ugh... but it is probably better than sticking me in the red room with a phone connected to the mass public heh heh)

btw... the bath looks lovely...

sorry for the double comment but ... while we are talking about moving I thought I should mention the conversation with my landlord today... right before I was about to take a shower this evening I noticed there was no water coming out of the pipes... this was about ten minutes before my landlord called to tell me that "the painters had disturbed the outside hose and now the space between the walls in the basement was filling with water..." As you can imagine this has been rattling around in my head for the last few hours... walls filling up with water... oh, the poor wolves in the walls... now they will have to learn to swim.

mmm... claw footy goodness.

As for mustard-yellow - (shudder) Oh yeah, that brings back some nasty memories. What were people thinking when they decided that was a good color? Granted, some people may like it, but for the people who don't it's like some sort of torture!'

So, when's the big housewarming bash? Okay, webcam party. Same thing, really. :D

Eeew! Mustard yellow! I see a good number of Corvettes around here in that awful hue. When you have that kind of money why on earth would you get that hideous looks-like-a-curbside yellow sportscar?

**shudder**

I have to admit to a love of orange though, as witnessed by my car. Not burnt orange but ORANGE orange. Lo, you can ask da Boss just how orange it is. I have no problems finding it in a parking lot.

I loooove Design Toscano. I just put up our scary greenman doorknocker today. He glares at the evil neighbors. Hee hee!

How odd. I've hardly ever seen a fridge that isn't white - though the one in our new house (keys tomorrow!) is greyish-silver. Weird.

The Victorian palette? I'd think of rich colours like crimson, gold, or emerald green, dark woodwork, accents of brass and crystal...

I grew up in a Victorian terraced house, but unfortunately have no prospects of affording to live in one again. We want more photos, Lorraine!

At 9:12 AM , Blogger ravyn said...

Congrats on the house, Lorraine! You must share more photos, soon! Deep colors might be nice inside, but how about just a stark white outside...hmm what color is it now, does it already look wild and witchie?

At 2:13 PM , Blogger Rubius said...

Just a quick aside...No moving for me!!! My landlord will let little LaMie stay... YEAH!!! (even staying with a mustard-fridge is better than moving and ending up with a pink one in a pink kitchen)

Pale Lilac... hmmm... not a gothic grey/black?... that probably is for the best... don't want to scare the kids away at Halloween BEFORE they get into the house..hehe

That is great news Kristina - how nice you can have both kitty and apartment! Landlord must be quite nice, or quite taken with that cute little fluff ball. That's great that you can close so quick Lorraine - do you have a turret in your house? I always wanted a little round room, I would have LOVED to have found a victorian when we moved here, but wasn't in the cards. There are some really lovely ones around here which have done some cool things with painting the outside in a variety of surprising colors - some quite bright with contrasting gingerbread, tho I don't know if that's a traditional victorian approach or not. Have fun!

GEEZE!!
My child has informed me she likes housing development style houses!! ARGH!! I'll neva get my Victorian!
Lilac sounds nice...with a dark gray purply trim. Hmmm...and cranberry accent trim paint?

Rubius...I concur with Ravyn...there is a specific place for you! ::cackle::

Ah you see, that is the beauty part... I don't have to move (into another part of the building... where I would have to pay more rent for a less wonderful appt) because my landlord doesn't want me to have to break the year long lease that would be manditory... in case I DO move far away.

Congratulations, Ms. Fabulous! Cool tub. I am laughing at myself because I have a small 100+ year-old Victorian, and it's, uh, yellow. Bright yellow. With bright spring green trim and a royal blue front door, all of which annoys our much more tasteful neighbors with their muted, classic colors. What can I say? I'm not really a goth, much as I love them. :)
