As I Roved Out.....

Hello all, and I hope your May's are all going well. This is sometimes my favorite month of the year, Spring is here, even for those of us here in the North, maybe even those of you in Canada, and Things start growing again, little flowers bloom, trees get leaves, peas come up, and even if I am way way to busy these days to get out and enjoy it, I can look from time to time and get a feeling of " Oh, it's just all to lovely ".

Lots of Adventures happen in May. All you have to do is listen to any Folk/Celtic/Irish song going and over half of the songs, I guarantee you, will begin " As I roved out on a May Morning , on a May Morning quite Early " These people had some adventures I am telling you! I have been out early on many a May morning and I have never met a " Golden Youth" or a " Shy Lassie washing her feet" or a " Withered Old Women who turned out to be a Wicked old Witch ( or a fairy, horse or cursed princess ) or even " A band of Rovers " ( or Gypsies, Lords, Ladies , or Fey Folk )

( Of course, the other thing people do in these songs is DRINK. They drink Lots. I wonder , from time to time if the EARLY in these songs is not late at night, and not early after sleeping all night, and getting up refreshed, if you see what I mean. I can see drinking all night and having some wild stuff happen to you on your way home, at least in your mind, as you stumble from the pub homeward with or with out your horse, as it were. )

Or not. Who can say?

I went ( Roved ) out this morning , ( On a May Morning Quite Early ) for a walk, and I admit that some breathing room , stress relief and fitness were what I started out thinking about, but as I walked ( think roved ) it was in my mind that this WAS May, and anything, literally , anything could happen....

Of course, I didn't see the young girl doing her wash by the waterside, or the two lovers crying, or the mother singing to her fatherless child. Nor did I get drunk, make love, fall asleep and wake up in the fairy realm, or save my country, a cursed thing, or Farmer John's cow even but.....

There's always tomorrow, we have quite a bit of May left.

Love and Roving,
Lorraine

I have seen some quite odd things on May mornings, mostly in Oxford.

Oddest thing so far today: we bought a house. I think we must be grownups. Eeek! (But also, squee!)

I love May too. Everything here is blooming; we're walking around in bowers of cherry blossom. It's beautiful.

Congrats on the new home K! May it bring you much happiness and joy! It has been a lovely May here, tho a bit dry - we are supposed to get rain tomorrow and we do need it. I mowed the lawn this weekend and created a dust bowl. Hmm, I would love to run across something wonderful while walking, beyond the gifts my dogs leave (who is now begging me yet again to go OUT!! NOW!!) Have a great day all!

I've no complaints about May so far. My neighborhood actually saw the sun yesterday, and it was over 70 degrees (which it rarely is for more than a few days a year). Today is also sunny and the weather's supposed to be even *nicer*.

As for roving adventure, the boy and I will be celebrating our 2 year anniversary this week by staying at the most beautiful B&B in San Francisco. At 8 months pregnant and still awaiting our first payment from the contract job, I think it will be an adventure. :P

Ooh, and this morning I put Nutella in my smoothie, just to be daring. It's yummy, but sticking to the glass a lot. hrm.

k - congrats on home ownership!

I don't know, Ms. Fabulous......I saw a Golden Eagle land on a highway exit sign on I-35 Sunday morning just north of Waco, TX. And it's definitely May in Texas....hail, lightning, and tornados. Fortunately, the tornados and hail have been going north and south of my house, though we did have to replace the computer router from this past Saturday morning's storm. Still, the temperature cooled off for a couple of days. We also now have tomatoes. :) The standing cypress has also started blooming.

And k, Congratulations on the new house!

We apparently had a storm last night of which I was not aware since I slept through it. Picture windows were missing from nearby offices when I arrived at work today. We had water and damage to our closed files. I think a small tornado hit. May...now, headed on to hurricane season and living on the Gulf coast (panhandle) of Florida! Up north they get snow days, here we get hurricane days.

K...congratzi on the house! What a lovely time for you.

MM...8 months? ACK!! That was when I was in such pain! Pregnancy was not an enjoyable experience!

K that's great, congratulations!

MistressMousey, that B&B is gorgeous..I was totally gawping at the screen. And a weekend away where someone ELSE does the cooking and cleaning has got to be wonderful when you're 8 months along.

Malena those are some seriously funky clouds at that site.LOL
Are they, erm, enhanced or are they real clouds?

Happy May to all!!! Spring has most assuredly sprung in my part of Canada but we have been having some strong windstorms (i like going to sleep listening to the elements... whether ocean, wind, or rain).

Rhodos in white, speckled, champaign, yellow, light pink, fuscia, purple, deep red, and combos of the above... all on my way to work... not to mention delicate grey-purple irises, daisies, lavender, tulips of every hue, carpets of blue, bushes of pink, orange, white, and yellow azaleas... the list goes on. Unfortunately the clouds of white and pink have flown away, in windy gusts on blustery days, past my window at work, past the budding vines now covered in pink blossoms, past the hedge and the palm, but the magnolias and dogwood still show bloom in motion.

my only strange may day happening today was the little dog that ran straight past it's owner on a beeline to me, lapped around and then ran away, as I walked casually past 100 feet away while it's owner called and called.

Cloud pics are lovely... sky candy!!! and the Mansion is gorgeous.

Happy Roving Lorraine and everyone!
Congrats on the new castle K!!
or is it a temple? tee hee

Thanks everybody!

Oh, definitely a castle, seeing as it's in Scotland.

(Actually it's a small terraced house. But it's just down the road from an actual castle - how cool is that?)

As far as the site with the clouds and questions of whether or not the photos have been played with, probably not. I've seen clouds like that with similar lighting, usually while in the car trying to get somewhere. The warning systems have gotten better, so there's more time to take cover, as well as tracking of storms with Doppler radar.

MistressMousey: If you like Nutella, you should try Nocello by Racconto (www.racconto.com). Possibly more sugar, but _no_ preservatives and _no_ trans fats. IIRC, there is also less salt than Nutella. The down side - it does cost more. ::sigh:: I didn't get to eat Nutella or Nocello during my eighth month in either pregnancy; gestational diabetes during the first, and watching what I ate from the beginning in my second so I didn't develop gd again.

Mousey_ I'm working on a baby goth line with YOU in mind.

Yes those are REAL clouds.

The merch is almost finished. I know I've been saying that for months, but I've only got 20% TO GO. yeah baby. We've got tons of rhinestone barrettes, headbands, colored hair extensions, perfume OIL, t-shirts, jewelry, and of course CD's. I'll be putting them up on the web after the COn is over.

er... roving the neighborhood I ran into something strange (just after I posted that last post)... I found a lost young calico cat... just ending her kitten faze but with no tag and no id markings. She was mewling in the bushes around my appartment... and I think I know all the cats in my building... and I live next to the intersection of two VERY busy roads... so I lured her and caught her, fed her, gave her a makeshift litter box and water. She certainly must belong to someone... I went looking for posters but there aren't any in the immediate vicinity yet. If none appear I guess I will have to make a 'Found Kitten' poster.

but it will break my heart when the owner of this cute, well house broke, extremely friendly, gentle kitten is found.

the funny thing is a few days ago, not 2 minutes before I found the unfortunate pidgeon I said to myself 'I won't go and get a cat... but if I found a lost kitten... if I couldn't find the owners... I would Keep it!!! and ther is nothing my landlord could do to make me give it up'...(although I am not supposed to have a cat) and now look what I found!!!!

kitty, you sound like the adage, "when the student is ready the teacher will come".

All hail the great and glorius Bastet!

*sigh* I wish we could have a cat. Both the boy and I are seriously allergic. We'll just have to content ourselves with stroking the ones we meet in the street.

He's allergic to Nutella as well, poor soul...

Malena, your merch sounds fantastic!

eh, I eat Nutella so infrequently that I don't even bat an eyelash at how unhealthy it is for you. But I'll keep my eyes peeled for the other stuff.

And BABY GOTH LINE! Yay! :D

LaMie. I vote YES YES YES. She/he can be our mascot.

At 10:37 PM , Blogger Rubius said...

I sure hope she will get to stay with me. she is lovely, absolutely the most affectionate cat I have ever had the privilege to meet. I would love to belong to her. I haven't seen any posters for her yet and the local pet care place (1/2 a block up the road) hadn't had any inquiries but I left my number. I will call the SPCA tomorrow but I don't plan to take her in there.

Aside from copious shedding (since she is trying to get rid of a few matts in her fur which I will figure out for her) she is certainly well fed (even got tidbits of turkey) and all she does is follow you around pussy-pawing and purring (albeit pussy-pawing very gently on skin). She took to the litter cardboard box very quickly so I know she is house-trained.... and I bet someone is missing her, because she is simply lovely.

thank you for the kind hopes

Lorraine that is a great suggestion... and Malena I would love to consider the voting over after your single vote. lol... actually I was trying to come up with a LaMie style name... not quite sure what but "LaMie" itself is pretty damn good!! But I hesitate to impose a name on her yet, since I have only had her for 24 hours now and she very well may be sorely missed elsewhere.... and soon to return... but, here's to keeping my fingers crossed while searching for her owner.

oh, and the great thing about puffs of calico fur...they are of every colour. heh

So sweet Rubius! I'll bet someone abandoned the little thing - that happens alot in our area. Last summer my daughter and were riding our bikes by the local forest preserve and out pops a kitten absolutely wailing and running like mad after us. The little dickens rode on my shoulder the whole way home. We posted all sorts of notices and no one ever claimed her. We found her a lovely home where she is thriving. I'll bet yours found you too! Little Lam! Hmmm, too bad hotels don't allow pets. Oh and the cloud pics were awesome - I've heard of those, never saw them.

And because the calico fur is all colours, it shows up on all the clothes! :D
