Self Portrait...

Look! I'm a Goth Cousin It!!!!!

(it should perhaps be noted I have been working a LOT of hours this past week or two. I am sure this madness is temporary, and I will be just fine soon. Really. Uh-huh. No worries here. Wonder how Boss is doing?)

(Actually, I know how he is doing, just had a note from Kitty, he's holding up just fine and things are going well.)

(Why am I blogging in parentheses)

Right. Tonight, since it has warmed up here and is now 20 ABOVE, come down and see me at the Half Time Rec. I need to relax and play some music and see some people. Might as well be you as anyone, eh? Most likely better.

Thank you for those of you who wrote with offer of food and such for AFP. She sent really happy e-mails when I told her about food in Melbourne, and places to stay in New Zealand. I know she is still looking tho, France, Switzerland, Spain, if you are there , and can feed and or house and or love some AFP and the Danger Ensemble, let me know and I will pass you on....

Dr Wicked, he the Mastermind behind my new website (coming your way Friday the 13th February!) is having a gathering of anyone wanting to see Coraline on opening night here in the Cities. He is making cookies with button eyes (Dr Wicked BAKES???) and there is talk of going someone where to eat after (it's a bit of a drive, but, hey, I'll be in Stillwater all weekend, just so you know..) Details are HERE for Dr Wicked's soirée.

Just found out today that I am taking my first Dressage Test in May! I am loving My Little Pony workouts. I feel like I am starting to relax, and be able to stay relaxed while I do other things riding, and not go all wobbly, if you see what I mean. And I have lost the fear that was holding me back from really getting in and riding.

Trusting my Pony, and trusting myself.

Back to work. More lobbing, more juggling, then some rocking!

Love and Trust,
Lorraine

Fun! Awesome hair, and Coraline, and juggling, and stuff.

Here, snow. Work. And not interesting work, just the boring kind.

Oh, and Yay for dressage tests and launch date for new website, (she says, having gone back to read the new post, as opposed to just looking at the picture)

Hope the gig goes well.

G'Night (really good night, it is bedtime here - 1/2 asleep already, or I'd have worked out it was a funny time for you to be going to sleep, Arwenn. Meh.)

Lovely hair,

Goth Cousin It... indeed. lol.

Wow... 20 above, that's pretty warm for January there, isn't it?

Go Dr. Wicked! builds websites, bakes, broadcasts web-parties... has great taste in music... damn... is he single too? :-)

Greetings to all new fiends... Eska Vous Vous!!

At 2:46 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Oddly enough, I think he is single. Weird, eh?

Just got home to Bengal before going back to Dog again, before going to gig. Mim was so excited she had to run and pee, then ran out of the litter box, then ran back in and pooped!!!!!!!!

(I can't believe I just told you that, or that is an EVENT in my day....)

At 2:48 PM , Blogger Phiala said...

Yeah, Lorraine, I think you might have been working just a bit too hard.

Tho I realize there isn't much choice.

At 2:50 PM , Blogger Arwenn said...

Hey, when is cat evacuation not a bonafide topic of conversation??

At 2:53 PM , Blogger Yoopergurl said...

for those of you in the US. 745pm on HBO-E and 1045pm on HBO-W 'Making of Coraline' is airing. Yea!

You folks over Minneapolis way have all the fun. Happy concert and opening weekend party to all!!

I wish someone would get that excited to see me lol.

At 2:54 PM , Blogger vampi said...

hahaha.. < insert witty comment about cat pee obsessions here >

rock the EFF out tonight Q :)

horray for warmer, if not warm weather.

i am so jealous of the hair. i'm torn between shopping it all off into a bob, or keeping it long and getting hair thingies wiht colour like that. you are a bad influence young lady...very bad.

At 3:02 PM , Blogger Chantrelle said...

Good night, good day, good evening wherever you are.

Love the goth cousin It!

Ben and I went on quite a long bike ride today. His first ride outside of our block on his own bike (and not tandem on daddy's). He did great (he's still training-wheeled). We rode to the bakery for cookies :D

Have a great gig!!!!

At 3:03 PM , Blogger Ian Ransom said...

Cousin It-On-A-Stick, more like. Boo-tiful. Confession: I wish I could do that. Channel the madness into a great gig tonight and stay warm (another useful facet of your dark tresses...?)! BTW: Your friend's cookie-inspiration is a keeper. Is that a Coraline-fanatic cookie competition I see in the near future?

At 3:04 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Get the hair thingies first, then if you don't like it, chop it all off...

Yea for the HBO! I was wondering when that would air. I remember that shoot, amazing day!!!!!!! Well, I was there for our bits anyway.

Yeah, working too hard, but there isn't a choice, and one wouldn't want to get bored, now...

At 3:07 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Fun bike riding! I forget there are places it is it warm...

Jake Ian, well, if your hair is a couple of inches long you COULD do it too...No rules anymore you know.

I am going to rock the heck out of the world tonight, if only for ME.

No cookies here, not a baker. I will make Coraline, uh, well, I will taste.

At 3:12 PM , Blogger DataGoddess said...

I've missed you all all day!!

Love the Cousin It look, Q. I'm amazed you still have hair after the last few days of craziness!! I hope you have fun tonight at the gig.

What does a dressage test consist of? (I am severely lacking in knowledge when it comes to horsie stuff).

And we've been talking about poor Cabal's peeing, why not talk about Mim's potty moments, too?

We will join Dr. Wicked in spirit, I'm still trying to find out which theaters in Lafayette or in Indy will have Coraline, hopefully one will be 3-D.

And in the big news of the day for me, we FINALLY closed on the house. This last week has been crazy because of roof issues, but our buyer is finally happy and we're no longer paying the mortgage on an empty house.

I think my shoulders are finally back where they belong, not around my ears. This month has been the pits all around, for lots of people and lots of reasons...

At 3:17 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

DG, that is great news.

Lorraine, I love that photo. If that's the worst you can do with the craziness of your week you're doing pretty well mwahhahahaha.

Hope the gig is fun and stress relieving.

At 3:19 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Meant to say, that is hilarious about Mim. Its something our dogs would do.

At 3:28 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Yea for house closing!!!

I didn't actually have hair until Tuesday, then I got more hair. Very easy.

Not sure exactly what the test will be. It's more a sort of thing of control, and one goes from letter to letter, which are on the side, changing gaits at the right places, making sure one is on the right lead. You do a lot of the direction with out looking like you are moving, the less you move the better.

It gets harder as one gets higher up.

Comparable, I think, to the figures, of figure skating, where one traces something like 72 different versions of an 8 on the ice.

I get to go and watch the REALLY good people ride on Sunday, which I am rather excited about.

At 3:46 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

I love watching dressage, such a perfect partnership of noble animal and hooman. You can almost hear the horses counting steps.

At 3:51 PM , Blogger Na said...

Awww, Mim must be missing you.

Awesome hair. Happy rockin'! I imagine it will be a great show, considering the break it'll be for you, you get to relax and have fun for a spell.

\o/ DG! My brother + family just went through all the nutsiness of house-changing. Such stress. May the rest of your 2009 be as quiescent as you like.

Sally, your weather is in the news a-way up here! (repeating something I posted late on the last entry)

Such fun times going on. Love love love the hair. You make a great Cousin It.

At 4:36 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I am off for the gig, well check on the dog then off to the gig.

When Magic bit me tonight, I didn't act like prey. Prey struggles to get away, not prey, stays and goes further in. Surprised him!!!!!!

Chatter me fun to read on the breaks, please! I'll be home LATE tonight, sadly.

At 4:37 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Congrats, DG!! That is Awesome.

And now a public service message for ANY Fiends and/or lurkers who live within a remotely reasonable driving distance of the Twin Cities:

The Half Time Rec is a freakin' brilliant place to see musicians!!!

One of the places I have missed SO much, even when back in California.
So if for any reason you are WAFFLING about going to the gig tonight, may I strongly suggest you cease said waffling and just do it. You'll be glad you did.

End PSA.

Discloser: I don't think I've ever even been to Charlies, much less gone there for music....so cannot compare. And it has been 7 odd years since I last went to the Rec. But still.....just sayin....Were I Rich or Could Teleport (either would do) you'd be seeing me tonight.....

At 4:39 PM , Blogger EmilyLady said...

Have a great gig!

At 5:11 PM , Blogger Jess said...

Hang on. Hang on hang on hang on. Magic bit you?! I think I missed something. Just a warning or a play nip, I hope! We do not want puncture wounds. Well handled, though! Glad he's out and playing again after the initial freak-out, though.

Happy gigging-- and excellent Punk Rock Cousin It impression! :D The manwife was looking over my shoulder while I read the post; when I turned around he was doing his Cousin It at me. It kind of freaked me out. He's a scary man with no face.

Hurrah on house closing, DG!

Hurrah for Dr. Wicked, websites, and cookies!

General hurrahs!

You make a wonderful Gothic Cousin Itt, Ms. Fabulous. I just hope you don't sound like Cousin Itt tonight for your gig. ;)

Though, come to think of it, I don't think we ever got to see Itt's arms, but I do vaguely remember seeing him play an instrument in one episode. Maybe it's time to check various sites for confirmation. Hmmmm...

At 5:47 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ariandalen;

For some reason I'm seeing Drums, or perhaps Clarinet?

hermmm.....off to googlecate myself on the subject. As you said, surely tis out there somewhere....

At 7:13 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Well...all I've discovered is that Cousin Itt wore dark gloves in the first season of "The Addams Family," and that they changed his look for the second season. Hulu is not letting me watch more than two episodes tonight. Hmmm...maybe I should try YouTube.

So, I had hot chocolate and a croissant for dinner. Then I came here to leave a comment. Thank Fod I erased it before publishing it! I was overwhelmed by sugar. It was like I was drunk. And we know how entertaining drunks are... NOT!

I hope the gig went well Lorraine. I love the Cousin It hair... If Gorey illustrated in color, don't you think he would have used a lot of purple?.

Didn't Cousin It play a sax??

Awesome hair, Amazing you.

I can see that this Newbery thingy really screwed up all your nicely (and painstakingly) planned schedule for this and the coming weeks.
Have I read that right and you shall be staying over in Stillwater over the weekend so you do not have to drive back and forth? That would be great (well not so much for the kitties but for your safety and comfort).
Looking forward to the 13th! I shall try to sleep less in the night so I can enjoy the new site and happenings.

Charlie's is GREAT, Lys. You'd love it. The people there are pretty awesome.

Just wondering.... :)

At 12:17 AM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Hi all, home now, very tired, and it was very nice to see Aleta and Gayle and the guy whose name I don't know, I call him The Nice Guy...

Glad to be back at the Half Time, even if the decided lack of audience made it odd. Had enough tho with Fiends and didn't much care, the sound guy was great, and we had fun and for the $$ they pay, what the heck.

Magic did bite me, he sort of sniffs then bites, all normal not to worry, and he hasn't broken the skin, just getting acquainted.

Man I am TIRED!!!!!!!!!

At 12:46 AM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

I suppose the weather is very much to blame for depleted audience. And the fact this was a Thursday night. I would guess more people go out in the weekend.

At 5:17 AM , Blogger louisa said...

Did y'all see this on Birdchick's blog? Best quote: "Maybe if more people had a duck in their life, we wouldn't be so mad at each other."

Q, your description of Mim made me burst out laughing, happy kitty indeed!!

oh sweet, more coraline 3d tickets, sure wish they were available out here. and the artist event sounds really cool Lys, again, why the @#$ am i stuck in this godforsaken place. i think the winter blues have come crashing down on me, too much cold, too much remoteness, too much gray, ugh, and no more writing cuz it will just continue on in this vein. it is friday, (for real) hope everyone has a great day and evening!

At 7:16 AM , Blogger Stardustgirl said...

Good morning / whatever,everyone!

Button cookies sound like lots of fun.

Charlie's is definitely worth a visit; don't miss the ceiling. I've never been to HRC but MN is a visit-place not a live-there-place for me.

DG - Coraline should definitely be in Indy since we have something like 3 3D theaters here. I cannot find *any* info on it though, and it's really irked me this morning. I mean, the film opens in a week...can't they at least mention WHICH theater it'll be at even if show times aren't settled? Grrr.

At 7:25 AM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Charlie's ceiling? (Well. Bits thereof)

Ok- No More Mr Nice Guy!

(always wanted to say that with a straight face!)

This is Aleta's friend (or is it fiend) Tom, officially de-lurking here. Enjoyed the semi-private show last night. It was good to meet Gayle again, and always fun to see P & L perform. My wife and I (too sick to come out last night) have always enjoyed your shows, and New Year's was a hoot!

Keep the gig list updated! We'll be back!

Welcome Tommy B, ariandalen will be with you shortly.....

At 7:58 AM , Blogger Phiala said...

No advance tix here, and no idea if it will be showing on the one screen that can do 3D.

But: nterview with a puppeteer from Coraline.

At 8:00 AM , Blogger DataGoddess said...

I checked Fandango and they still didn't have any listings for Coraline in either Lafayette or Indy. I'm seriously annoyed.

The dancers on the ceiling look out of proportion - is it the angle? The bodies seem l-o-n-g. It could also just be me :-D

At 8:27 AM , Blogger Stardustgirl said...

Nathalie - yes! I love the feel of the whole place, but the ceiling is an especially nice touch.

Agreed w/everyone else about Fandango frustration. I wasn't happy it wanted me to pick theaters by zipcode. There is no IMAX in my zip, but I don't know the zips for downtown, southside, northside, and looking all those up would be a hassle. Is there a "by city" page I'm missing?

At 9:44 AM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Morning...

Very sleepy here.

As far as the 6th goes too, I was wrong, no gig that night, tho I am somewhere else on the 7th. WIll get this all straight in my head soon...

Hi TommyB! Sorry, you will always be Mr Nice Guy to me!!!!! Too late now...

The Birdchick just told me she got a ccall for an interview about Coraline, asking had she seen it, and how cool was it, which I think is pretty cool!

At 9:55 AM , Blogger Jess said...

That's neat!

But do you feel that birds and birding interests are accurately represented in the film, Ms. Birdchick? Did you note, for example, an imbalance of owls to corvids? How might the Sierra Club feel about that? And would this be an appropriate film for the amateur birder, in your estimation?

;)

At least Mim didn't um, "decorate" the wheel again.

I've never been to a dressage test but it sounds like fun.

Nathalie - great photos!

Na - Zombie warnings. LOL.

DG - House closing is good news.:) I haven't been able to find Coraline via Fandango either, and I live only minutes from 2 IMAX theaters.

Maureen I can give you some of the zips if that'll help. I live downtown 46202, Castleton is 46250, Greenwood is 46227. (I know them all because I work for a production copy center and we service ALL the stores in town:)

Kali, I totally missed you were in Indy!!

I've been checking our old Fishers zip, too - 46037 - to see if it's playing at the IMAX-3D in Noblesville. I think we might need to have a mini-Fiend gathering to go see it, if Husbeast and I can make it to town early enough (I work PST, because most of my team is in California, so I'm not off till 7)

At 10:19 AM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Oh, and in case you missed the info, get into the back of a London black cab with Amanda Palmer and a ukulele.

At 10:21 AM , Blogger ariandalen said...

The Zombie warnings made the local news last night. TxDOT really isn't amused, though I think a lot of Texans probably are. I know I am. :) The hackers programmed something humorous; it could have been something really dangerous. Must have been due to the state legislature being in session with head zombie, Governor Perry.

At 10:23 AM , Blogger Stardustgirl said...

Jess - LOL!! And you know she'd have the answer.

Kali - thanks!! I'll plug those in when I check again. You'd think that a movie starting next week would at least be in the "coming soon" listings, but noooo.

Mini Indy Fiend gathering might be good. DG's husbeast needs to get that weather machine working though.

I'm overrun with starlings today. HALP!

Na... hilarious!!! I love it! We tend to bounce between food, pets, literature and the arts, and ... dead things here. I think that sums us up pretty nicely. Now we need one for hte June fiend-meet... "Beware, Fiends ahead!!"

DG - Glad you closed.

Tom and all new Fiends...WELCOME!!! Thanks for dropping in! Beware Ariandalen... beware her good.

I know there was more... but I can't think of it right now... these comment streams to split my concentration like fractured glass... just can't keep all the bits in place.

I saw your boss had updated his youtube page with the Buttons vid and I thought I would see what comments lived there... someone made a comment about wishing for a Sandman something in vid form (movie, animation, etc) and I wrote back quoting your boss from the American Gods interview where he said he would rather not see a Sandman movie than see a poor Sandman movie... the person wrote back something like 'it's not that hard to make something when it has already been created'... and I had to laugh... sure... years in production... millions of dollars... thousands of e-mails, drafts, etc... and they say it is 'not that hard'...pfahh... some people are just silly.

At 12:29 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Oh she is using it. Right now they are both carrying feathers everywhere, I got them a bag, the house looks like a chicken was slain, but it is fun to watch them..

At 12:33 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

You got that right! Hard doesn't cover it.

Did I mention the room in the button vid is my current with the dog bedroom? Very cozy, Maddy calls it the China Room, as it has an Amano painting of the Sandman looking Japanese , and some oriental things in it.

And a piano, which is half mine. Can't play, but will never give up HOPING...

At 12:43 PM , Blogger Rubius said...

I recognized the rooms in the vid!! haha :-) and I am sure it is a lovely room to stay in. The art in that house is simply AMAZING. I LOVE and WORSHIP Amano's art. Your boss's generosity in letting us see all of his Amano pieces simply blew me away. They are gorgeous. And the giant Kelli Bickman... WOW. Pictures... no matter how detailed or large do NOT do it justice. That house could be a museum. It is just lovely.

At 12:58 PM , Blogger Marjorie said...

All the rooms in Boss's house (that have shown up on his blog) seem nice, but what got me was him saying it was his 'downstairs library' and I thought 'you have 2 libraries??' I so want that house...

At 1:02 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

2 Libraries. And then bookshelves other places. And an attic filled with archives, and another 2 rooms of comics and graphic novels. And another room of tubs with copies of his books.

i have this vision of the house like the tardis, bigger on the inside.

ooh, it's the amano book that made me buy it just because the art. it was much later that i realized what it was and read it. it's juts stunning. i really need to invest in the absolutes, but space/money issues.

Marjorie -- I was always told that if I worked hard and applied myself I could be anything I wanted when I grow up. :nods: So go for it.

Or.

You could have him as your first Ghoul meal and take his name.

Well, Nice Guy can go on the list of "hmm" appellations I've accumulated over the years (my favorite: Our Token Normal Friend)

sigh....once again...lovely hair.

Right, where was I?

Fiends searching for Coraline:

RealD (the digital 3D process originated with Industrial Light and Magic and now pretty much the industry standard for most theatres, or so they claim) has an excellent site for finding RealD Theatres worldwide. You don't have to use a zip code, but then you *do* have to click on the world/us/state maps in succession (using Indiana as an example, I found 19 theatres.)

You can check it out here if you like....

I found that figuring out which theatre was likely to have it, and going to their website, worked better than using Fandango (which kept telling me that showtimes weren't available.)
The mixup may be due to Fandango having two Coraline listings; the 3D and the "conventional 2D". I think ALL showings at ALL theatres were input by some human into the 2D listings.

But the RealD site can help you track down phone numbers of the theatres so you can call them directly. I also did that, just to verify.

Hope this helps!

AletaMay - I don't think I want to grow up to be a ghoul, but thanks for the encouragement.

I want to grow up to be a vampire, not a ghoul. Like Sebastien in the Elizabeth Bear books.

Nice new normal Fiend!!!!!! How is your wife feeling today? You must bring her to my B'day Party!!!!!!!

Done with Bengaling, back to Dogging, then to gigging. New post will be late tonight for you to wake up to. I really need to bathe before I gig.

At 1:51 PM , Blogger Marjorie said...

Tom - have you ever been known as 'Honourary Girlie' There's a Hmmm appelation for you. (and yes, I have a firend who was given that)

At 1:53 PM , Blogger Marjorie said...

Um - thinking maybe dogging doesn't mean the same as it does here....

(although I'm pretty sure you donb't mean what it means here)

At 1:54 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

No sure I want to KNOW Marjorie...I meant tend the dog before the gig...

Round here, if you're doggin' it, it means you aren't working hard or you're being lazy. Often in relation to sports or physical labor, most often said by men. And right now, I am dog tired. Not sure where that comes from, unless Alaska where the dogs actually had a tough job. Or maybe Scotland, where they were watching the sheep? Regardless, it's a dog's life...

At 2:22 PM , Blogger TommyB said...

No, no "honourary girlie", but then here in the States we'd leave out the "u"- we're odd like that.

As for Wife- (aka Sherri)- she is improving much- just didn't want to "lose her voice trying to talk in a crowded bar" and have a relapse. Irony.

I remember the When of the B-day, but not the Where. Please refresh my obviously fading memory.

Well, Fiend Tommy, you're "normal" no more; you are a Fiend!

Apropos of nothing currently being discussed:

Just read an entry by Lynne McTaggert on her blog about cows, elephants and dolphins... Turns out being around dolphins shifts human brainwaves in the direction of light meditation...and synchronizes the two hemispheres....

made me wonder what our brains do around cats!

here's the link, if anyone is interested.

Lys - wow! You wear that Sherlock cap well :-) I did find the Kerasotes sites and it does seem that 3D Coraline will be on the south side, if nothing else. The downtown IMAX site didn't show it as a "coming soon" but they also didn't announce Beowulf and that's where I saw it.

Any Indy Fiends been to the southside Kerasotes 3D? Is it as impressive as the downtown? I ducked weaponry during Beowulf at the downtown showing... it was wild!

I'm immersed in the ins-n-outs of php and following crooked directory paths today. It's becoming less cryptic - hooray! I still need to find a good book on it though.

Speaking of art - where does Neil hang the Stardust painting? At the exhibit in 07 it was by far the most Addams Family framing job in the show. You didn't have to read the inscription to know which one it was... just a glance around the room.

I guess that's the advantage of living in the butt-cold middle of the country, there's room for big old addams family houses with multiple libraries and places for cool crap.

Just picked up the filthiest boy from school...once i wash all the mud off, i'll know if i got the right kid.

The weekend at last! And there was much rejoicing.

Welcome to the newly delurked fiends. When Ragnabuzz is upon us and the Bee-Bengal Alliance is ascendant, I am sure that you will make the right choice.

For those not checking my rare Facebook updates, I have decided to stay in my current job. I have reasonable assurances that I will be able to switch to an even more fun contract when the time comes and that I will experience very little in the way of a paycut, if at all. So yay! What a relief.

At 3:42 PM , Blogger vampi said...

oooh great news dan :)

At 4:02 PM , Blogger dabbler said...

Yay Dan...bet it feels good to have that settled.

Off to dinner with friends...
may you all have comfortable temperatures, gleeful interactions and delicious foodstuffs of your choice.

or at least, some fun.

At 4:04 PM , Blogger louisa said...

Does wine count as a delicious foodstuff?

At 4:17 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

I'm sitting in my car catching up on comments before my horrendous (but not as bad as Vals) drive home. Send "stay awake while driving" thoughts my way.

Vampi- thanks for the YouTube link to my favorite song!

Dan- excellent news!

There's more, I'm sure, but my mental battery is dead.

Oh yeah! I'm going to the Cartoon Art Museum tomorrow, to see the Coraline exhibit. Yay!

At 4:19 PM , Blogger Yoopergurl said...

Congrats Dan!

I raise a glass of delicious liquid foodstuff in your honor.

At 4:37 PM , Blogger Chantrelle said...

Yay Dan!

Ticia- we're going to the museum on sunday!

Yes, wine is food...beer even more so (dark beer, definitely). Chantrelle has spoken and that is that.

My cousin has an art opening tonight here in town so we'll be going to that shindig and then to dinner...ben will be up super late--i told him that and he got really excited.

At 4:38 PM , Blogger Jess said...

Yes, Louisa, it does. Though currently I have beer.

I heart Amanda Palmer on ukulele, in a cab. Yay for that. :)

Ever since I watched that button trailer, I've begun to feel that we have too few books in the house. I mean, holy crap, I thought we had loads, but clearly I'm mistaken. (Just consulted with the manwife, and he estimates that we have "several hundred." Nicely non-specific figure, there.) Not sure I knew the meaning of "loads" before.

Ramble ramble. Happy gigs! What's everyone else up to tonight? Manwife is reading, I'm worrying silently about the attic. Nothing new there.

Dabbler - That's a fascinating article, and an interesting observation-- that the real surprise in the study of animals' interior lives is human surprise at it. Neat stuff.

Good news, Dan. Glad things have turned out well in the end.

Hi, Tom! Who else is new? Karen! Hi, Karen. :)

At 4:43 PM , Blogger Stardustgirl said...

Dan - Yay! I yay'd you in email but will echo it here.

Louisa - yes! It's just a squished and utterly liquifed formerly solid foodstuff. Hmm... The Foodstuff Formerly Known As Grapes... needs an unpronounceable symbol to go with it.

Dabbler - I think I need to be near some dolphins right now. My brain is crispy.

Ah well, paths have been figured out, redirects are now working and no longer directionally impaired, and I need to stop while I'm ahead. Off to veg for bit...

Yay! Tom delurked! Hi Tom!

Dan. This sounds like good news and hopefully makes for a bit of calm after a couple wacky weeks for you.

Cool 3D theatre finder!

Sadly no Charlie's for me this weekend. Tonight is some much needed down time. Tomorrow out for an evening with friends (planned by someone else or maybe it would have included Charlie's).

Ginger Snap is curled up next to me on the sofa. We will be very mellow tonight.

I have one week to find my other mother fingers around the house...5 are missing--ben likes to play with them.

I also just ordered some gummy bugs (but they arent black unfortunately) to much on and share at the premiere :)

Ben says he'll be wybie again which is a super easy costume (skeleton shirt, gloves and jeans!)

I'm getting sooooo excited!

At 5:22 PM , Blogger Ticia said...

Chantrelle- I wanna see Coraline with you! I will be seeing it with a very sedate crowd. No costumes or button cookies. But I'm seeing the movie and that's all that really matters!

Hello, Fiends. Catching up very late after a wickedly busy day. I normally have weekends off but tomorrow is a pizza-making day with a fundraising group and then the next calls for more babysitting.

Oh well. Friday is always Friday. Rocks either way.

Getting very excited here, as my mother and I have been elaborately discussing the potential journey to Minnesota.

Hi all! :)

Dan - Huzzah! Job security rules.
Chantrelle - You MUST take photos.
Lorraine - The extensions look rad when you do that Cousin It thing. :) You can probably guess what it's been like living in my head when I tell you that I was listening to AFP in the cab while also having iTunes playing Depeche Mode at me and I didn't realize something was amiss until over halfway through the song.

Oh yeah, I need a weekend.

At 6:35 PM , Blogger Siri said...

Good Luck, Emily, with your elaborate discussions.

I've never envied someone so much as when I had that brief glimpse of a library. I want a house with a library, not just bookshelves in a basement.

Sigh.

No Lorraine back yet?

I woke up, feeling less than good. Grrr. I can't just catch a cold every time I travel, this is no good at all.< /grumbling>
Ginger tea! Ginger tea!

At 10:40 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Nat-law: Echinacea, thistle, comfrey and goldenseal tea. Tastes TOTALLY gross, but will fix you up right well. You can improve the flavour with chamomile and ginger, which will also contribute towards your health.

I'm feeling a sinus infection in the middle of this cold, so I'm off to drink that very same tea myownself.

also wondering how the gig went....though certain the music was great..

At 10:59 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Maureen and DataGoddess, a mini-Fiend meetup for Coraline would be awesome. I've been to that south side theater (Kerasotes Showplace 16)..I saw the last Harry Potter there..and it was nice and roomy (and they have parking!:)

Lorraine, finding out that Boss has that many books makes your previous anecdote (about him "thinning out" his books) even more funny.

Nathalie, hope the tea chases the ickies away.

Lorraine is back now! Nat-law my dear, no good to be sick!

I will do a new post now, for thems that is awake, and for others to wake to.

Drink some tea, and it will be up shortly.
