If I Only Had A Brain....

This is the "Fods, it has been a long week and it ain't over" post. I am really tired and have big plans to do not too much of anything but catch up on Bengals and reading.

Here's the good news for the day! My camera battery came! It is now charging and tomorrow I will have a camera, with a battery and a view screen! I will be able to SEE what I am taking a picture of! Ah, they joy of it! Who knows what sort of pictures will come from this! (I am thinking Bengals and Horsies are going to figure in heavily)

But even better, Miss Kitty is coming to visit in a week, and SHE will be taking pictures and making little movies, she tells me, now that we know how to post them on You Tube and embed them in blogs.

No Horsies for me until Monday, the way this weekend is panning out, but considering how sore I still am, that might not be a BAD thing...I will get fit. And I will not break any bones in the process.

Still hoping to get down to the Cities Friday night and see some Lojo at The Acadia. She is having her cd release party, and there is going to be some great music. A Lojo show is a place where anything can, and most likely will happen. Trust me. She rocks. I taught her everything she knows.

(Susan, pass that onto her for me, yes, hee-hee...)

I am trying to think of some more adventures for you, but the only thing I seem to recall is that in French, the word for Lawyer and the word for Avocado are the same. HOW they decided that I am not sure we will ever know...

Makes one think...

Love and couches,
Lorraine

Way to go, Janet! Bengal Vids! Horsie Vids! Maybe not Le Leopard vids yet. Not very exciting, poor guy, no news to report on him tonight.

Tho tonight when I came home he had managed to get his dry food all over everything out of the bowl, and he hasn't been liking his steak. May try something new and see if he likes it...

Hope you get some much-deserved rest tonight!

I'll report on the fun tonight, but for now, back to work. Heigh ho.

Yes, Dread, we do want to know about this fun, those of us here on the couch need some excitment..

Good news on the camera battery!

Looking forward to the vids and pics!!

and... oopsie, VCON was me on the last post... forgot to log out of that account. but thanks for the welcome anyway Queen Quiche.

Happy full moon night!

Have some fun for me too Val.

My lovely computer looks like it might be caput. We (meaning me, my best friend and her techy partner) tried to operate last night and even with a hammer and nail we couldn't get it to work. Dammit. I may try the hammer again ... or we might just need a hotter/better saudering iron than the few that I have lying around.

hey cowgirl how are those legs of yours after your work out on Rommy.. I put a new picture up that is my daughter jumping dear Rommy!! She can jump over three feet high. I had fun last night and look forward to more horsie time together.

Hi everyone,

Yep, typical bloody Melbourne weather. Nice and toasty yesterday, but today, because I am have a party in the park with 25 kids for my daughter's 8th birthday, it's cold and was perssssssisssstently raining this morning with threats of more showers!

Luckily there are shelters, hope we all fit. And Indiana Jones is coming to assist.
Unfortunately, there will be no pony rides, but there is a horsey ice cream cake.

OK, back to fixing the fruit skewers.

Hope everyone's having a good day/night and I wish I was just crashing on the couch!

Oh, and waytogo Bengalgirl (hifive). And hi to delurkers (and I'll just whisper this but Adrianalan is really very nice....I think)

Oh, and great mini story DreadVal. I'm having trouble picturing you in a mini though. A mustang -yeah, something convertible in black - yeah, but Mr Bean's car?? Wellll...

Oh, and great picture Horsegirl, we love hearing these adventures.

Rommy is so beautiful and I am thrilled for you, Ms. Fablo! And well I remember the soreness -- but it is a great way to get the body in good condition. :-) Arms, legs, torso, back, everything is working and moving. I can't wait to see more pictures!!

At 6:54 PM , Blogger Dread Val said...

Jacqui -- Hrmpf. My Mini IS yellow, as it happens. I didn't want the yellow at first, but it was back in the day when you could only get whatever your dealer had on the lot, or wait over a year to get a custom one. I didn't have a year, so yellow it was. But the yellow's grown on me; it suits the shape of the Mini. And I can always find it in a parking lot.

At 7:13 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Hey Mel! I am going to steal some of thse pics for tomorrow night's post, so you all can see GOOD shots of Horsie.

Can't wait till Monday, it is worth the drive, way worth it!

Sneaky Rubious, sorry about the computer!

Mini's scare me, but I have only ridden in ones driven by Val and Boss....

Dread val, hope you are having fun tonight, i do have mini envy....just got home from a dance class and it is now officially couch time with a fat corgi. Melissa, what a beautiful jump, rommy is a lovely horse - Lorraine, have fun with Kitty and hope you get to see Lojo!

Hurrah for horses, and bengals, and pictures thereof!

I've got a little remote control Mini, in Red. But the remote needs a new battery. Hubster wants a Real Mini, in British Racing Green. With a Union Jack on the roof. He says it's the only appropriate paint job for a Mini. Whatever he says, I figure.

I want to know what the food out of the bowl means-- my cats do that, too. They're not leopards, of course; I know sometimes they do it purely because they can't figure out how to drag their dish towel off the food bowls (they insist upon having a towel provided to bury the food beneath, y'see). Then again, sometimes they just seem to want to eat from their paws, or stranger still, to pull out individual kibbles to arrange on the floor. It's very odd.

Hmm! Amanda Palmer is playing not-at-all-far from me on the 29th. Ought to think about that, maybe.

At 7:29 PM , Blogger Dread Val said...

Aha! I knew it! I knew I could not mention the Mini and not have Quiche mention my and Boss' Scary Driving. ;) It is NOT Scary Driving, but rather, our finely honed reflexes you are noticing, reflexes forged in... in something witty about complicated and dangerous traffic.

But we still have to have the definitive contest to see whose driving is Scarier. ;)

Jess, did you get your remote-controlled Mini from Thinkgeek?

At 7:40 PM , Blogger Rubius said...

Jess!!! Go for it! Go see Amanda Palmer... and tell us all about it. I wish I could.

I'm gonna wait for the hotter/better saudering iron. I need to get a tiny little eeny weeny itty bitty ickle piece of wire out of a very small hole and I don't have confidence in our equipment. You know you are desperate when you take a hammer to your motherboard.

HA! Val, so say you...

I will ask Mairlyn about this food out of the dish thing, we need to know....

Yay Amanda Palmer! (I am so looking forward to her show here!)

Yay de-lurk-ing-ers.

And horses too. Yay horses and full moons and too hot too cold weather and dry food floor art.

It looks like Laser Lady and I may be at Acadia and may cross the street to the 400.

I spent the evening with the godchild. It was great fun. Now sleep calls! 'Night Fiends!

Aleta, you sound so happy, this is good. I am hoping that I can make it down tomorrow, kind of depends on work, lots of catching up to do and we are working pretty hard these days...

I love it that I got Horsie on the full moon, makes it more magic...Hoping every Fiends Moon is as Magic this month.

Yes, avocat (lawyer) and avocat (avocado) are one same word. And same gender too (UN avocat) although in the case of a female lawyer one can use avocate (in which case the T is prononced. Otherwise it is just there to annoy you and mess up your spelling skills).

I emailed mistressmousey to see if she can make it to Amanda Palmer...i need someone to go with! It's on a bloody monday night which sucks.

I almost feel guilty for our gorgeous weather. We really really really need rain but it was 70 and sunny today. Poor us.

Val - hope you had a great rockin' DJ night out with Kitty!

I think i'll veg on some TV before bed.

I didn't dream about horsies last night but that Boss came to visit and it was all that "anything makes sense" dream logic that i can't really translate into awakeness except i remember he left in a gold minivan...LOL!

Maybe i'll dream of horsies tonight.

At 9:29 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Dream of horsies Chantrelle, and go see Amanda, anyone who does must tell us all here all about it, I've seen the vids, but SO wish I was going to the show..

Adam Stemple told me many years ago when the Oysters were playing, and I had to miss them "get used to it, if you are working , you will have a gig and there is always going to be something else you want to do.."

Home now. Had a very nice time talking to a couple of people, in the end. The decor of this place was awesome; apparently it used to be a Mexican transvestite bar. Think lots of sombreros, skulls, and glitter.

Amanda Palmer near Jess is very nearly close enough that I could go. But unfortunately it's while I'm likely to be traveling for Thanksgiving. I'm annoyed with the WKAP preorder system anyway - they didn't put together the package I wanted until after I'd already ordered, thus effectively penalizing the excited people who bought stuff right away. :-P

Today, got to finish prepping for the weekend-long weaving symposium I'm running. Will be gone until Sunday, have a good weekend Fiends!

And how can my Gmail account be down for the past 12 hours? Ack!

At 5:31 AM , Blogger Jess said...

Yeah...the Thanksgiving week part is hard. On the other hand: the theater's only twenty minutes from my house. It'd be a crime to pass that up.

The real trick will be talking the hubster into going with me. I'm not going by myself! If it was Queen, Led Zep, or David Gilmour, we'd already have tickets... I don't think he's ever heard Amanda Palmer or Dresden Dolls, though. We'll see.

Val - I'm not sure where we picked up the Mini! It was actually a present to hubby from my mom. I've just commandeered it-- just like the sonic screwdriver. That's "mine," as well. :D

Sounds like everyone had a fun night! This pleases me. Carry on, Fiends.

I like Bodhi, too. That seems to describe him rather well. :)

Arnica! The Massage Oil! also arnica tablets by mouth. Nor should you forget to take either arnica or an anti-inflammatory BEFORE ascending the horse, it prevents damage and this is a habit that has saved my life (also one before bedtime if you have had much alcohol, same reason).

More leopard news? More Kali news?

"you guys"? Here I was thinking we were all fiends together...

Contentiousness is part of our charm :)

At 8:14 AM , Blogger Arwenn said...

Um, that was meant to be warm, friendly and inclusive but I notice that when posted it just looks snarky....apologies.

At 8:20 AM , Blogger Rubius said...

YEAH... Neil just posted Amanda's tour schedule and she is coming to Vancouver!!! I'm so going. YEAH!!! no more concert-envy (except for the every-week sort that comes with NOT being in the midwest while all the Paul and Lorraine concerts are going on).

Yes, Nathalie you did make me snort tea with your contentiousness. Love it.

Hey Lorraine, did you get the e-mail about taking naps in the room with your leopard. I like Bodhi. Good name. Say the 'd' soft though, almost a 'th', I don't think it is a hard 'd'.

At 8:21 AM , Blogger Rubius said...

no worries Arwenn, you didn't come across snarky at all... you came across contentious... like a proper fiend.

hehehe

At 8:26 AM , Blogger Phiala said...

Er, but... "bow--dee".

"dee" is straightforward, but the other half:

"I tied a bow on the package"
or
"I bow to the King, but only if I like him"
???

At 8:27 AM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Yeah for making fiend snort tea!
:)
I missed an opportunity to go ans see Amanda Palmer sadly: She was in Milano a few weeks back and this might be the closest I would have been to one of her venue. But it was still a 4+ hours of train at the end of an very busy week so decided to skip that. It was probably the most sensible thing to do but sensible things are pretty sharp and can make you bleed tears of regret.

At 8:29 AM , Blogger Ticia said...

I agree with Rubius, Arwenn, not snarky AT ALL.. just contentious, like a true fiend!

ALso something I love about you FIENDS! :-D

At 9:45 AM , Blogger Rubius said...

My friend described her as kinda punk.... but screw the description... I think she is rather undescribeable anyway... show him her videos!!!

Here is her youtube channel

You should watch all the WKAP videos. I like Astronaut, Runs in the Family and Strength through Music best.

THEN you should take him through some Dresden Dolls stuff... I like Night Reconnaissance and Sing and Shores of California... but there is considerable variety.

At 9:50 AM , Blogger Jess said...

"Quirky" doesn't help, I'm afraid. We're trying to convince a die-hard 1970s guitar-rock fan to try on dark burlesque for size.

He does like Talking Heads and David Byrne. Can I reasonably make an aesthetic connection there?

At 9:53 AM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

With David Byrne, yes. He has some pretty interesting texts...
Really. Plug him into I Google You and promise him she will sing it live and he should run all the way to the concert place.

At 9:59 AM , Blogger Jess said...

He's heard "I Google You" already, and laughed when he heard it, but I don't know whether it'll be enough to convince him.

I'll mention it, and then go with the David Byrne angle.

At 10:05 AM , Blogger AletaMay said...

Yeah, I think the Talking Heads/David Byrne comparison is a good one. Smart complex lyrics, theatrical, a certain lightness to the melodies that sometimes provides a strong contrast to thought provoking, deep lyrics. Yeah. Bryne-esque for sure.

I told Boss today that Fod know what MY post was about, but all my lovely Fiends were not only talking about HIS Amanda Palmer post but were hooking up in droves to get together at her concerts, then Amanda called and everyone was all very feeling happy.

Hey Malena, yes very serious vids indeed, I've been watching them. Too serious. Lighten the heck up!

Madmae Mim your namesake jumps on my head from the top of the fridge....

Going home soon, and get this!!!!!!!!!

PICTURES with a camera I can see what I am taking a picture of!!!!!! I am going to take pictures ALL over my Spooky House and bore you to DEATH!!!!!

I feel your pain, Sally-- I can't write at all if there's music on. Lastfm has been doing me no favours this week.

In other news: it turns out that if you show a Doubting Manwife this video, he will magically transform into a Convinced Manwife and agree to accompany you anywhere you like. I think it's something to do with whom the video has been dedicated to-- that in particular seemed to arouse an efficacious level of amusement on the part of said manwife. So tomorrow we drive out to the place, scope out the parking situation, and buy tickets. Huzzah!

Us? Out? On a Saturday night? Has hell frozen over?

Hi Ho, Fiends - home from friend Dave's funeral, and dinner out with Pa, with a head all congested (for a week and Fod I wish I could get cleared out). In my jammies, but wishing I could be going downtown for CD releases and other club hopping (sigh). Again, loads of appreciation for being contentious frisky fiends and making me feel better all week.

Spooky House Pictures - cool.

(Is anyone else out there afraid they are too old for Amanda Palmer? I mean, I know I'm young at heart and not really an old lady, but some of this music these days....laws-a-mercy I don't get it...)

Off to turn up the heat - getting a bit nippy in the house...

heehee Siri; I think I could be with you on that one. I love thinkin I'm cool when I hear my daughters (15) music & like much of it that I get her CD's too. But there is some stuff I just don't get; I call it 'screamo' and it's basically just that; the start out all singing & jammin & you can understand the words (mostly) then some guy just starts screaming; for a really loooooonnng time. When it stops my innards just relax... I'll go in and say something to her like; 'what was that?' and she'll look up totally oblivious like 'what?' she wasn't even listening to it!!!

Ya; I don't get it either but I refuse to say I'm too old cos I still play my music loud and SHE comes in and turns mine DOWN!

HA!

I don't think music has much to do with age, but what you like. I like some new music, not some new music, but it is the same with old music, and really old music.

Some clasicial rock composers my world and other bits bore ne to tears.

I've never, even as a teen, liked much of anything on popular radio.

And I'm sure it's my midwest upbringing (grandparents from South Dakota, Kansas and Iowa), but there are some things you don't talk about in public....

I hear myself say that and think WERE YOU BORN IN THE MIDDLE AGES????, but it's the voices in my head...I am so like my paternal grandmother, Fod save me!

But, I am hip and cool and all that, too, sometimes.

Just not on a Friday night at the end of a week like this... sheesh.

Anyone else still around, or are all the cool kids at the dance?

I likes what I likes. Sort of like "I yam what I yam" but without the cans of spinach.

Siri- we are young enough to like anything, musically or otherwise and old enough to not feel like we have to fake it either way. Cool, innit?

Speaking of- my son still has my L&M CD. I will make him give it back, I swear! It's Mine! Mine I say!
(more fans for our Empress)

Hello fiends. I don't think I am going to CD release or Heartless Bastards either (boo!). I was supposed to be training at new job, but now they want me in tomorrow morning...and night....and Sunday morning.

Good thing this place looks like it'll be More Fun Than Humans Should Be Allowed.
