I know a serect.....

And I want you to know about it too!

Kelli Bickman , a ( currently ) red-haired artist from New York ; whose work has been shown in galleries world wide ; a multi award winning photographer, painter and filmmaker AND ( ah-hem! ) a good friend of mine, now has an Ebay store. She is selling both paintings and signed , very rare , posters , signed by none other than my Boss.

( for the two of you out there who might not know who THAT is, he is Neil Gaiman, a writer of some renown. Tho he does not, sadly, have red hair like Kelli and myself )

I was just over there, at Kelli's store, and I cannot believe what these paintings and posters are going for. You need to see these, and get some bids in, before people discover it and the prices go sky high. Matter of time. And not much of it.

What I love best , I think, about Kelli's work that one can dream in it. You can look at her paintings forever , and never see all there is. You can get lost in them and not care, really, if you come back out or not. Every painting is a story, and she is a storyteller, like the storytellers who once sat around the fires at night, and explained what the moon was and most importantly, why it was. She will wrap you in her work and you will be happy.

Kelli is a painter like my Boss is a writer. Like Malena is a singer. Like the sun is a pretty nifty star to have around. She is also kind of a Dork, in the same way Malena and I are. ( and anyone who tells you that is a bad thing, is NOT a one of US ! )

You will love her. She will love you. Go, now, and make friends...

Love and paintings,
Lorraine

Thanks for the 411 on Kelli's work. I looked up her web site because your boss once work how much he loved her work. I love her powerful use of color and subject matter as well. She is a wonderful artist! And I love the fact that she too is a red head! Although, I'm more a strawberry blond , I love being a red head! You look like a real glam girl as a red head Miss Lorraine! By the way, I have the measels and wnat to wash my red hair but I have measel bumps on my head as well, can anyone tell me what I can but on my head to ease the itch on my head? I took an oatmeal bath but I don't think oatmeal is good for one's hair. Thanks!

Kelli did a wonderful video, just saw it, of her talking about her current work, and some lovely shots of the work progressing. She is just finnishing it up, and I will add the link tomorrow so you can " meet " her in person.

It was much warmer today. Heh. Got to 6 above zero. That's the key word, ABOVE. And trust me, when it is 25 degrees warmer, you feel it!!!!!

Nice wolf!
I'll check it out!

(Now I can't help but trying to imagine this guy you are working for with red hair and, unless I go back to the time he was a kid, the results are a tad unpalatable. Funny because I can imagine him easily with fully white hair. Or dark purple even. Just not red).

Nice wolf, indeed! I want a one of us to have it. Half tempted to get into that...But it would do as well if one of you did. I will come visit you and look at it.

I do have one of her paintings, called " Quiche Cat" I'll try and take a picture of it, as it is wonderful.

Oddly enough, the originial painting of the cat was in a gallery show, and I fell in love, and wanted it, but someone else also did. Kelli told me she would do another painting, very like, for me, if I would let it go...

So she did. And I am sure Tori is still loveing her painting.

Hey! She even has a poster by Moebius!
Not that my bidding for it seem to be successful...

Looking forward to warmer weather.

And oh, Spacelaw, those are strage images you have put into my mind....

And of course you 'll have very colourful bee hives to work with this year.
I cannot help but wonder if the bee's behaviour might or not be influenced by so many colours on their house...

Go for the Mobieus, those are REALLY rare....

Her bee hive is magic. THAT is a hive that will make some honey!!!!!!!!! I will BEE ( Gods, I am funny ) out there daily....

That honey will be bound to have effects on dreams if not down right psychedelic!

The wolf is okay but I love the dragon! It should make an ideal Chinese New Year gift! The year of the Rat! You're going to be busy this year Miss Lorraine, your boss was born in the year of the Rat and this year all Rats will be very productive.

but... it 's a demon, not a dragon. Not a dragon at all... as much as it looks kind of like it could be one... if you look up info about this figure from mythology it clearly isn't a dragon.

I will be honest. Kelli's work is pretty amazing and her sale items include some extra cool stuff...but her art isn't quite my cup of tea, although I recognize the merit in it and I liked some of the ones on her website (especially the cats) it doesn't move me, not the way that, for example, Lisa Snellings Clark and Dali move me. Perhaps I need to see them in person to get it. Thanks for the link to her. That's the beauty of art...to each their own.

You know, at first I was a little nervous to express that Kelli's work isn't quite my cup of tea...

Don't say anything if you can't find something nice to say, right?... wrong.

This is such an open forum, freedom of expression here on this blog is as natural as breathing... and I just wanted to say, thank you. Thank you for giving us a nice little corner of the internet where we can freely express our feelings, even if they are 'hmmm, that's not quite up my alley.' I hope I haven't offended anyone... but I suspect that this crowd will understand what I mean.

Of course Rubius, expressing opinions is certainly alright. ( and yes, a Demon, not a Dragon. Indian I believe, Kelli spent a lot of time there )

The only time I have a problem with posts is when someone completely trashes someone elses work or " Trolling " as it is called, and that is the only time I have ever deleted posts.

Saying " I'm not sure it's my cup of tea " is very different than saying " her work sucks "

This blog is a happy safe place. And we all have the greatest of respect for eachother, and the people mentioned in the blog.

Unless, say, I did a post on cannibels. Or cat killers. Or people who litter. Then we sic Malena on them , the rest of us won't have to do anything.

Oh dear, are you certian it's a demon? I'm a Buddhist (a Christian Buddhist for Buddhism is a non-deity faith you can believe in Christ as well as follow the word of Christ) and this may sound odd, but there good demons and bad demons. The good demons scare away the bad demons to help the souls in the afterlife to find their next karma or lead them to Nirvana.

I love her cherry trees and especially the night into morning glitter.

Hi Kalli-icious, I will pass that onto Kelli, it will make her happy!

actually I have to second that opinion on the Cherry Trees and the night into morning glitter... those ones also did stand out to me.

Thanks for your words, Lorraine. I certainly don't want to offend anyone.

I celabated by cleaning out my clothes closet and doing all the laundry. Not a small job at all. I hadn't been able to USE the closet for sometime, it was so deep in clothes. I must try and do better.

The weird thing was, how many of the clothes I hadnever SEEN before! And I live alone...

Quiche, are you staying warm in the tundra?
glad that you are giving Kelli a shout out- she works so hard & her work is so very personal.
miss your little kitty cats, and can't wait to meet new PRINCESS MMM>
xoxo

No. Not staying warm. Not at all.

Madame Malena Mim, as I am currently calling her, arrives next Monday, after I get back form New York, Hurrah!

Sometimes I call her " Witchy Little Kitty " tho, which seems a nice sensible name as well.

Who can say.

Can't wait to meet the little witchy kitty!

Witchy little kitty is nice now but when she will have grown to full size, the "little" might seem out of place...
Going for my visa interview tomorrow morning (they want to know that I am not a terrorist. I'd better get a hair cut...)

At 7:38 AM , Blogger Fabulous Lorraine said...

Not a terrorist. A Spy. There's a difference. Spy's never MEAN to blow things up, and they save the innocents when they do.

Fingers crossed.

You may have a point, she will get big.

I think Venus is getting excited about New Kitty. When I talk about New Kitty, Venus runds madly about the house, knocks everything off the table, attacks my hands and pulls all the lipsticks out of my purse.

Of course, she does that every day. Hard to tell.

Venus going after lipstick. How fitting!
:)
