Not Too Early For The Weekend....

I am going to get a jump on the weekend here, and also give those of you in Minneapolis a heads up about the fun. Tomorrow promises to be rather hectic and by the time I get home, my brain will be mush. (That would be Today, for those of you Fiends reading this with morning coffee and tea. As in Thursday.)

Boss is nipping off to the UK for that part of the Graveyard Tour, (and we will want some inside scoop, as it were from anyone who gets to one of the events.) Boss nipping off means a fair amount of Assistanting, so instead of coming home and posting something like : "Boss Gone Brain Mush Leopard Hiding" I thought we could, one hopes anyway, be interesting tonight.

Paul and I are playing at Charlie's in Stillwater, MN on Friday and Saturday, 7:30 to 11:30. On Friday night, and maybe Saturday, we will have Dylan Hatch sitting in with us, which always makes for a really, really good show. Dylan is am amazing drummer, and an even more amazing singer, adding harmonies on the fly.

I generally hate people who can add amazing harmonies on the fly because I cannot do it myself, but in this case I am making an exception, even if he is another guy. (A women can work with ONE guy on stage just fine, but when you add more than one, they, I don't know, LINK or something and trouble comes of it.)

They are worth it tho. Trust me. These guys anyway.

I also hear some Fiends are getting together and coming down, tho I don't recall which night. Any other lurking Fiends out there, you would be very welcome at this party as well!

Here is some wonderful news that was accompanied by a detailed report of the Jungle Loves first week, complete with pictures...I think I will let them tell the story, they are obviously SO happy.

Happy, aren't we?

And now for the Leopard Report:

He ate his steak today, and put his toy that I play with in front of him in his empty food dish. He was under his blanket on the ottoman again, and I lifted it, and did not get a feeling we were having a nice game of peek-a-boo, which was re-enforced by the low growl. I gently lobbed a bit of steak at him, and covered him back up, cleaned the boxes and talked a bit and left.

Thanks for all the name ideas, we will figure it out. Or he will tell us.

Time. Lots of time.

Love and Music,
Lorraine

YOU MOVED THE SANDBOX!!! (See #4 to understand my shouting, whinge whine complain....)

I finally posted, on the other post, and now there's this post here and no one will read the other post and I'm a day late and a dollar short, and I was going to copy the whole post here, but I'll just ask the one question, since we are talking of music....

3). Just finished reading Adventures in the Dream Trade, which includes the American Gods blog. The Boss talked about your first CD, Quiche - where might one find a copy of that? How many CDs do you have out? Inquiring minds want to know.

4). I feel very whingy today, and am glad you are all out there to make me feel better. Whimper whimper kick the dirt whine.

(If you want to see 1 and 2, you have to go to the other place

1). I always wanted to name a cat Kierkegaard. I don't know why. I think it's a lovely name, although I know nothing of his philosophy.

2). This book - is it the "unauthorized" biography that Himself (and you, obviously) contributed to? I remember writing Himself when he mentioned it in his blog and asking about that, and he said something about he helped, but didn't do much.

Hi Siri,

1) Nice name, but not for this Dude. Let's keep trying.

2) It is un-authorized, but done with his knowlage, and he did help with it, as did I. The bulk of the work was Steve, Hank and Christopher, all of whom I admire greatly. I think Boss felt if it was THE official Bio, he would have to do much more with it, and he did not have the time at that point.

3) The first Flash Girls cd is out of print (EVERYONES first cd ought to be, hee-hee) but you can download it from a couple places, including Amazon, I think.

We had meant to make a little tape to sell, and after the first day said what the heck, and went for an entire cd. We had NO idea what we were doing, and only got smart by getting Adma Stemple in on th emix.

Still, won a MN music award, go figure.

I have two more cd's with the Flash Girls, two with Folk Underground (Paul and I with a drummer) and one with Malena out.

Got lots, if anyone wants any. Fod knows what they cost, Fiends get a Fiend and Family deal, trust me.

Like make a donation to the Great Lakes Bengal Rescue in any amount, and tell me which ones you want. Sound good?

4) Whine away! That's what we are here for. And Siri, don't know where you are in Iowa, but check out www.lojorusso.com she plays around there lots and you would like her. She is our friend.

Fods, this could have been a POST, and I have another one up already...

Hee Hee Hee!
While I was writing a LONG post, on one of your previous posts, you posted here.
The "game" of "hide-and-seek" is not as intimidating to him, as you might think. He's TESTING you!
He has already learned that when he growls, you back away - QUICKLY.
If he's not hissing and spitting, you've won half the battle.
He LIKES his "blankie" on the ottoman, and even if he's not there, when you approach the door, he can put himself there, before you can get the door open. He's already figured out that when YOU come in, you're going to LOOK for him. (grin)
The "toy" in the empty food bowl is his gift, to you. You move the toy, and fill the bowl with food, and then he eats the food, and puts the toy back.
He is already relating to you in ways you've not yet recognized.
So far, from what I'm reading - you're doing EVERYTHING right.
Keep up the good work!

At 6:27 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I saw your LONG comment and responded!

This is good news, I kind of felt that about the toy, and was hoping when he growled if I backed away, that that was the right thing to do.

It doesn't seem like I should press him at this point, but let him set the pace.

This is one test I will pass!

Speaking of tests, heard from my Frencj teacher, and she has not given up on me, NAthilie, if you haven't, let's get together next week?

Life may settle down. As much as it DOES anyway...

But Satisfied.

Where's that Bengal Rescue link again?

It sounds like you are doing very well with Graah Dan Mango! If he's just testing you, then you have a Relationship.

Yeah, that's right: I said Graah Dan Mango. I think it's a fantastic name. Your mileage, and his, may vary of course. ;D

I think Laser Lady and I will be at Charlie's Friday. Maybe some others will join us too.

It is very good that you can anticipate your mushy brain and make a preemptive post like this. Well done.

Love the photos of the Jungle Loves. I'll ask the godchild tomorrow (at her birthday dinner!) what the names were she suggested.

Yes! Little-Ghost-Big-Boy-Merman-Herman is developing a wonderful reciprocity with you by putting the toys in the dish. I love that!

Siri -- I still need to send you photos from the reading night. I have not downloaded them yet. I will soon! Hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

There it is, Kali, and well worth the wait! I love how you Fiends FIND things...Now go drink some nice tea and sleep!

So fun Aleta, I am really glad you are all coming! Makes it WAY better.

I went in a bit ago, with more steak, and he had eaten all I left, and left the Toy again, in the dish. This is good. I left him a couple more pieces...

He is making ontat, do you think? I play with that Toy each time I go in now...

Bonjour, Nathilie, this makes me happy. I am so there with our French, it's really something I want to do and am happy you want to do some Skype time this next week!

Why men link when there's more than one of them, I will never know. I suspect some directive from Boy Central.

So glad the Jungles Loves are happy in their new home. :)

Jess, how's your workshop going?

Tonight, after work, I helped a friend move. Why it must be 90° at night is thus explained -- someone in LA moves, it gets unseasonably warm.

Jungle Loves look great, so happy and relaxed - clearly you did a fabulous job with them and I'm sure Graah Mango Dan Magic Myrddin L'Ocelet the Little Ghost will do just as well in time.
If he hasn't disemboweled you yet you must be doing something right!

I've just been reading the comments on the last post. Thoughts of fruit and vegetable sex lead inevitably to the question - I got hardly any tomatos on my tomato palnts this year, does that mean I should be showing them veggie porn next year, to get them in the right mood?

I am going to sulk, now, because I don't live in the US or Canada so can't enter a draw to win the cover art for Q's book. This is discrimination. And Mr McKEan's webbsite still only says coming soon, so I can't go over there to get my fix of McKean-y goodness either. Waah!

Quiche - how many advance copies do you and Boss have? If you have one to spare maybe you could do an internet draw for a signed copy (you & boss.?) in aid of the bengal rescue?

I have tickets for Boss's reading in Manchester next week - I will let y'all know how it goes. (which reminds me, i have a spare ticket - any UK-based Fiend out there who wants to de-lurk, I'm happy to pass it on . .)

Must stop reading blogs and do some work now.

Yes-- they're showing their bellies already! If that ain't evidence of Fab Fostering I don't know what is. It is delightful to see.

Actually I think I like Little-Ghost-Big-Boy-Merman-Herman now. Quite euphonious if you say it really quick. And then Herman for short! Sorted. ;)

Synopsis? I think it went something like Book-hot tubs-floaty toys-mangos-fruit sex-vegetable sex-Leopard Names-botany-CDs-and at one point Dr. Score turned up and got teased for being Predictable. Also there was some Knitting.

Why? Weren't you there? ;P

It went well, Val-- thanks for asking. :) I think I might post the lesson plans as I go, by the way, if anyone out there would be interested in following along.

Oh Fod. I shouldn't but I will: here come the mangos. Watch it only if you're well awake and caffienated (but not yet twitchy). It loops.

Ash and 90 degrees at night? You should take the weekend off and come to the show! Might be 30 at night here! And nothing is on fire...

You say crazy Old Cat Lady like it's a bad thing....

Marjorie, not sure why you didn't get toms, more porn I guess next year...

Can someone enter this drawing for Marjorie, in her name. somehow? We can't exclude people!!!!

That's a good idea about the signed book. I wonder if I got some copies, and got them signed by everyone concerned, how much they might sell for? All monies to the Fund of course....

Tummy Rubs!!!!! Ain't there yet with the guy. Someday.

Jess, I only suggested the synopsis because I wanted to see if you would do one, lol, I had read everything, just wanted to see what one would look like, given how far we ranged yesterday...Not awake enough yet for the link, but I do have tea.

Amy! It will be good to see you there, but I bet I know you! Fiend to Fiend!

And Val, sorry to hear about the smoke, it certainly can't be helping the coughing.

Kali, you feel better too! I think of you at night while lobbing your namesake out of the bedroom. The Bengals feel VERY superior

Hope the gigs are great and rockin'! Wish I wasn't 1/2 a country away. I'm impressed with people who can sing at all much less harmonize on the fly! I swear I used to be able to carry a tune until I smoked in college and voice went away -- i may have just been under the influence of something and fooling myself though!

the pictures are the cutest things! And yay for leopard trust! I told hubby about the "Leopard Report" and got a pretty good laugh about that one ... of course I told him while we were watching the COlbert Report :)

Haven't' come up with a kitty name yet...The 2 names on my short cat-name list are Everybody and Gnocchi. We used to have a cat named Heimlich...his tongue was always sticking out like someone had just squeezed him.

I'm just saying, I wouldn't recommend it now. Back in 1994 it was all IRC and MUDs and Gopher, and you had to get a professor to write you a note if you wanted email. So if a guy told you he was a maths student at York, back then, you could be at least 85% certain he wasn't lying.

Yeah, that was some weekend.

I have been working at M's school in the before and after day care. They called me and want to take a classroom tomorrow. Yeah! I am really excited. 7:30 to 5:30 day of work though. Hopefully I will still be able to make it out to Charlies.

Fods, you Fiends are lovely to come home to! Long day, hard day, lots to do. The Princess of No was in charge as was the WHAT? How the heck did that happen withot me knowing Assistant....

Boss gone, brain mush, Leopard ate and growled at me..

See? Called it last night, he-hee.

Siri, that's great! Emily welcome back! Beez please do come, Friday is Fiend night yes? Tho Saturday is going to be fun too, just got off the phone with Paul where he got to listen to me whine for a while.

I think people CAN meet quite nicely on the internet, Jess. Just not sure I am ready for a real person.

"French-speaking lover, Leopard whisperer with tea making skill- how hard could that be?
" Like that. That's what I want.

Time is the thing, they would have to be REALLY tolerant, as I have none, and I am fairly selfish with what I do have.

Ack. I ramble, thinking out loud. Tonight the fire and some Bengals are just about perfect.

I did used to say "you can rest when you're dead!" I was younger then. :) I will be there. I finally have M covered and I would NOT pass up the chance to hang out with y'all.

Aleta, will you be going Friday night? I'm sorry, I am having a brain-fart, do you live in St Paul? Do you want to ride together?

It looks like it will only take me 1/2 an hour to get there. Yeah!!

Fiends at the concert! And Gayle can post from her cool phone!

This makes me happy.

We will take pics, wish you all could be there!

Hi FabulousLorraine & everybody,

So, I’ve been outed! Via my personal journal with all sorts of delusions and daydreams contained within.

In light of this I thought I would come clean and hopefully I will be free of it.

My name is Jacqui B and I’m a Neil Gaiman tragic (sometimes a little more tragic than most).

I haven’t googled “Neil Gaiman” since this morning, which would be yesterday lunchtime for most of you, so I’m claiming 24 hours.

Not having been to a real AA meeting, I don’t know what comes next, but I’m thinking perhaps I should (go to an AA meeting). Obviously the drinking of scotch and the posting of comments aren’t really compatible and should be activities that remain mutually exclusive.

And if I didn’t need to tell you all that……bugga, but it has been quite catharctic.

I really have to say I’m not the goodtimecharlie on LJ, she’s even more scarier than me.

Ok.

Now, moving on, FabulousLorraine I just searched “Lorraine Garland” on Amazon, but it came back with “Great Choral Favourites”. I gather that’s not you?

I also searched “Folk Underground” but it came up “Velvet Underground”. I searched “Flash Girls” but they’re sold out.

If I donate to Bengal Rescue, I’ll still have to fix you up for postage, or can you send it COD?

I hope you all have a great time at the concert and pics would be great.

THE END

Oh, and I like “Boo” for a name.

At 9:18 PM , Blogger AletaMay said...

Gayle, I do live in St. Paul. I will email you tomorrow but I am sure we can work out some ride share.

One of godchild's suggestions for a name for the Nameless One was Henry. We can't remember the other. I have a feeling that is not the direction you'll be going... but King Henry could be interesting.

At 9:27 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Jacuib, not sure exactly what you are talking about, but feel free to e-mail me and we will talk about this. Yes? There is nothing wrong with being a fan of someone and I have not heard anything inapporpriate from you, don't worry so much....

There aren't many of us who can claim not to have gotten carried away at times.

Aleta, WHICH king Henry????

At 9:30 PM , Blogger AletaMay said...

I guess V. And you could call him Hal.

At 9:32 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

V is cool, but Hal reminds me too much of VIII....There was a dude, ack!

At 9:39 PM , Blogger AletaMay said...

Hmm. Hal only makes me think of Prince Hal becoming V.

I think I must sleep now. 'Night all!

I'm just re-reading through all the comments and feeling very envious of all the fiends getting together and seeing you and Paul playing.

Maybe one day the world's financial market might pick up, and we might have enough money for me to come to the States. I have a dream of visiting a really good LJ friend in Texas and doing fun fan girl stuff there....then I could come north for music.

Oh, and please please don't think the 'crazy cat lady' thing was critical - because that will be me one day, except it will be cats and dogs and whatever else needs a home. Another one of my dreams.

At 9:53 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

I've just caught up on comments. Can I go to bed now? DD1 has been home two days with a sinus infection. There has been a good side to this; DD2 and I got our flu inoculations.

Awwwww! Ginger and Sabrina look so happy and comfortable. ::REALLY big grin::

I don't think that, technically, fruit have sex. Flowers have sex, and fruit is their love child. ;)

I've forgotten who didn't end up with tomatoes this year, but you might try thumping the blossoms next year. That's supposed to help, or at least that's what I've read from the experts. ::shrug::

How about "Magus" (MAH gus)? I know, it has that ess sound at the end, but it does change the tone from an idea/object (Magic) to the person who creates/manipulates it.

At 9:58 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Dragonsally Not in the least! Sorry of my comment worried you. Sometimes it is hard , knowing eachother only online, and one says things so easily, but there are so many ways to take things, and one needs to be careful.

Something I ought to remember more, dashing off replies in the middle of work.

It's getting late, Night Aleta, but I think I am staying up till Nathilie checks in. I arranged for the morning OFF tomorrow!

How about that???? Kind of off anyway, still on email and phone, but I am going to wake, play with Bengals and the CLEAN MY CLOSET!

WHich is needed. ALl summer I have been avoiding it,and simply keeping the laundry in the basement..Kid you not. Total wreck.

At 10:00 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Thmping tomatoes? DO tell, Adriandalen, and yes, you may go to bed!

No ssss sounds, he hates them, this I know...

At 10:01 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Phew!

I tell you, if I had a room to lock all my laundry in and ignore it I'd do it.
Oh wait, - I do - its called Tysie's room.

At 10:07 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

It seems simpler to drop the dirty down there and get the clean. I SO want to re-do my bathroom, and ditch the tub and put in a washer dryer. Laundry really ought to be on the same floor as the bedrooms, yes?

At 10:39 PM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Good mornevening all.

Nothing wrong with being a crazy cat lady indeed. In fact we need more around. Now my objective in life is to become a batty old lady (seeing that I have potentials) but I also want to become a batty old cat lady.

Th screw-up fairy seems to be more awake than I am; that was an inordinate amount of typos I've just corrected...

Ohhh, now I know who to blame for everything wrong.

At 11:53 PM , Blogger Dread Val said...

How bad IS your closet, dude? ;) I'll be home tomorrow morning, too, waiting for repair guys to come look at my heater and tell me how bad it is.

Wish I were going to be at the gig, too, but alas. You all with have to take lots of photos and report on how hard you rocked. :)

Nathalie -- it wasn't the screw-up fairy that caused the typos, it was Titivillus, the patron demon of scribes and printers.

At 1:48 AM , Blogger Marjorie said...

Magus is a good name, unless it's too hissy at the end.

The tomatos (of lack of ) were me - I think it was mostly becasue we have had a very wet, cold summer, so mostly what I got were lots of very small, bullet-like green tomatoes which then rotted without ever ripening - I just like the idea that it was doen to a lack of sweet veggie love, rather than bad weather...

Emily - glad you're home and hope you're feeling lots better

At 4:10 AM , Blogger Phiala said...

A rich crazy cat lady could have a house like this.

On amazon, you have to search for flash girls under MP3 downloads, not under cds. No DRM, but you have to install their software to download. After that, no hassles. (Even runs on Linux!) BUT I'm not sure if you can do it outside the US.

At 4:28 AM , Blogger Jess said...

Morning off! Excellent! :) Clean that closet. Play with those cats. Drink that tea!

Laundry should be nearer the bedrooms. Or at least the downstairs level, so that-- if you're like me-- you don't have to venture into the Spooky Basement, where moisture and potential structural-support issues will worry you.

"French-speaking Leopard Whisperer needed for cat-sitting, tea-making, and laundry duty. Bathroom-renovating skills preferred. May be required to strap on bagpipes and dance. No freaks." :)

Heh. It is possible to meet a good 'un on internets-- I just always advise people to be careful about it. I think I was a bit lucky-- the way I went about it, things could have ended up badly had Hubby turned out to be not-who-he-said-he-was. Fortunately he didn't. And then I made him live over here. Mwahahaha! Poor guy. :D

How went gigging? Speaking of bagpipes.

At 4:29 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Mage? Maji? (Since all cats are a multiplicity unto themselves)

You have the jushing "g/j" sound, but not full on sss or zzz sounds.

S'pose naming him Grendel would just be asking for trouble....then again, wouldn't that sort of make you
Grendel's Mother?

:)

At 6:33 AM , Blogger Amy said...

For the tomato issue-next growing season, try adding some lime (gardening lime-not lime juice) to the soil. It sounds like it might have been blossom end rot. If the rotting started by the flower-then the lime will take care of it. I don't know how much you'll have to add. I had my tomatoes in some Earthboxes, and 1 cup took care of the rotting problem. Not sure what happens if you add too much lime.

I'm excited about Charlies tonight! Yay! What fun!

At 10:07 AM , Blogger Chantrelle said...

Phiala - I love the kitty houses! OMG, the steps up to, what is that, Kitty-wainscotting? ;-) Crazy-cat lady house, yes but in a architectural digest kind of way :)

I have a huge cleanout project to do as well but mine's a whole room and not a closet. I need to start on it or it will never happen!

Wish i had advice on the tomatoes, i finally had a successful crop last and this year but mostly it was not giving them too much water and pruning. I would overwater and they'd get mushy and gross. Yay for drip systems.

Wish i could teleport myself to tonight's show!

At 11:13 AM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

The closet is VERY bad. SIgh,Not even close to beig done and I have been at it for hours. I am going for lunch and then back at it.

WHERE did all this crap COME from???? I have four huge bags full of stuff going to goodwill.

We do have a Grendal, and as for Grendals Monther, I am a huge fan. Kind of my favorite bit if that movie....

Right. Lunch, email , closet and rock.

At 11:58 AM , Blogger Amy said...

Silly girl! Don't you know stuff breeds when it doesn't get light. You need to open your closet once a week or so, let the light in...or it multiplies. (The same thing applies to drawers, garages and cars.)

Emily: I am sure we were not the only ones... How are you?

At 12:38 PM , Blogger Jess said...

What is it with cats and closet-cleaning? Mine love it, too.

Actually I think the things in my fridge would multiply even if the light was on all the time. I have twice as many beets in there now as I had a week ago.

Glad to see you about, Emily! I hope you're feeling better!

I should say in my defense this is a really BIG closet. And the only one in the strange SpookyHaus. Victorians were not big on them, I am thinking.

I send that, or third it, Emily, glad you are feeling better and back with us. We do know how life can be!

At 1:47 PM , Blogger Lexocat said...

Ah, your closet story is either guilting or inspiring me to fill my own Big Bags of Stuff for Goodwill.

And the happy, happy kitties, both those with new forever homes and those romping through piles of clothing, are a lovely image.

We're having the kind of bittersweet day that comes after having to say that final goodbye to one of our furry friends. Lots of reminiscing (and giving never-used things to the neighbors for their dog to use now). Some relief that suffering has ended. Some giggles at funny memories (we have a lot of those). And, yes, a tear every now and then.

Cleaning closets and thinking of happy kitties is the perfect thing. Along with tea.

At 1:54 PM , Blogger Phiala said...

Lexocat - :(

At 1:57 PM , Blogger ivenotime said...

oh lexocat, my sympathies, that is hard, and sad. glad you have some happy memories to smile over. ewww, closet cleaning - so many of mine are just awful, unfortunately i have always lived in the land of Push and Shove, then back away slowly hoping the door/drawer/cabinet doesnt open itself. sigh. i need to clean them out, maybe i will try one this weekend - wouldn't want to overwork myself :) hope everyone has a lovely friday evening - it is cold and rainy so comfy clothes, and maybe a movie are on the ticket tonight. Husband is stuck at heathrow airport (humph went to Amsterdam and London) and i am not feeling a bit sorry for him....how dare he schedule trips when i can't go. the cad.

At 1:59 PM , Blogger Jess said...

They weren't big on closets, I don't think-- it was all wardrobes and big trunks back then. I think we were lucky that our house came with the three closets it did. Though it was built around 1912, we think-- Victorian style, then, but not really Victorian proper. If my house is anything to go by, closets were more popular by 1912.

If I get my way, of course, one day I'll live in a house that's more closets than rooms. Big, walk-in closets! With shelves! \o/ Oh yes indeedy.

*covets*

At 2:01 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Oh, Lexocat, you have my sympathy! Very sad, yet it sounds like your friend is not suffering anymore, bittersweet indeed.

I'd think of something else to do than clean closets tho, what have I started????

At 2:01 PM , Blogger Jess said...

Oh dear, Lexocat. I'm sorry. :(

At 2:07 PM , Blogger Lexocat said...

You are all wonderful. Thanks so much for the kind words.

As for cleaning closets, there are a couple reasons why I picked that: 1) I sort of started already when I was clearing out the doggie cabinet 2) It's fairly mindless and that's good right now 3) I'm numb enough that it can't possibly make me feel worse and I may feel better for having accomplished something.

Then again, if you have a better idea I'm all ears :)

At 2:20 PM , Blogger EmilyLady said...

Lexocat, I'm sorry to hear about that; it sounds so sad. You have my good wishes!

~Emily

At 2:28 PM , Blogger Chantrelle said...

I'm sorry Lexocat :( That's so hard.

We lived in a house built in 1890 and there weren't many closets in that house either. The one in our bedroom was TINY. I couldn't figure out how they'd get big victorian dresses in that little thing!

I sorted so now i have 2 piles, giveaway and sell. Then still other stuff to move and put away but i made progress and have a lot of stuff on craigslist now!

At 2:29 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Well, you are right, Lexocat, ding something is better, and you will feel better for it.

You could ask Val to drink for you. I do that sometimes when I feel like a few good drinks. You lose a little in the buzz department , having someone else do it, but sure beats the hangover...

At 2:41 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

It's too bad we are all so scattered, we could have a Fiendish Thrift sale....Tho I suspect we would simply end up trading things....

At 2:44 PM , Blogger Phiala said...

At 3:01 PM , Blogger Phiala said...

Emily, I'm positive.

It occurs to me as I pack up to go home from work, that while I was very busy all day, and accomplished quite a bit, that it might have been nice if I had worked on the thing with the deadline.

Ooops.

At 3:12 PM , Blogger Siri said...

Several things -
1) It's a fiend epidemic - I've been cleaning closets all month - it's something in the air.

2) Brag - Des Moine's Susan G Komen Race for the cure has over 23,000 registered for tomorrow - bigger than Chicago, and almost as big as New York. My mother died 8 years ago from breast cancer - I can't tell you how much this means to me. I miss her.

3) Tomato plants...Ma planted some at my house one year because she and Pa were going to be gone alot that summer. She always said that to make more fruit, you needed to pull off the suckers. So, every night after work, I'd go out and pull off those yellow suckers. Yes, I pulled off all the things that turn into tomatos. She didn't plant them at my house any more

4) I got my American Express bill from the family vacation in September, and the overnight in St. Paul for the Graveyard book reading - if not for that, I'd be back on the road tonight heading for Charlies - y'all have fun.

I'll be home, with a fire in the fireplace and acorn squash in the oven.

At 3:13 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I do that too, Phiala....OOPS!!!!!!

It certainly would make things interesting tho, to get home and find you have acquired a Bengal....

Let'see, bag of Goodies from the Spooky House Closet Cleaning...Skull shirt, nice, pair of WAY to high heels that will kill me, nice, Sponge Bob Boxers, ok, Supermodel sized dress that no one can wear but looks good hanging in the closet, way cool, and WHAT??? A Leopard?????

At 3:17 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Siri, very cool news! The best in fact.

Very funny on the tomatoes! Of course you did. When I first started gardening I cold not BEAR the thought of thinning my Zuccini plants, so that first year we had 13! Can you imagine how popular I was???

The nest year I thinned them, bur couldn't let them die, so I planted them all in the woods.

Now my heart is hard.

FODS! I'd forgotten about the gig, in all this closet cleaning.

May be going to clean up a bit now...

Or, at least, that's the theory. Sounds like too much work for me. ;)

I have a husband who is a year older than I am, a 7 year old daughter, and a daughter who will be 5 in a little more than a week. We have some...interesting conversations at dinner sometimes.
