Still In Hiding...

Here's our Guy in his hiding place of the moment. Obviously, it's not a close up, took it across the room, and thought I had the flash off, but didn't and couldn't figure out how to turn it off, so I only took the one, didn't want to scare him.

Great news tho, he came out today and changed hiding places and on the way, ate some dry food. I put the steak in his room, and put one piece near him and when I went back it was gone! AND he blinked at me! Just the once, but he did. A very good sign.

I am going to read to him later (Jungle Book, of course) but no more photos for a while. Unless I figure out how to turn off the flash. Hmmph. Venus and Mim and Kali think they need some screen time too and WHAT is all the fuss about the new smell in the foster room (Now the Cuddly Mr Bagheera's)

I love this one of Venus, looks like it ought to have a caption....Like "I did HOW much catnip???Whoa! It's all good, Mon"

And Kali says she is not as fierce as a Bengal but WAY cuter.....

Mim is just being lovely. All her action shots didn't work, mostly they were Butt shots, so there you have it.

And finally for Nathilie, who demanded another shot of Cabal Smiling now that he is well, eating and has the Boss around, here you go...(For my new Bengal Friends reading this, Dog does not come to my house, he lives at work)

And there you have it. Quite a Blog when all I really had to say was "HEY! My new Leopard-cat changed hiding places and ate on the way!"

Baby steps, very small baby steps...

Love and Hiding,
Lorraine

Hurrah for the Menagerie! \o/ I see that Cabal's nose piercing has fully healed. And the girls are adorable. So how are those nylon pop-up cubes working out for you? I've been thinking about getting some ever since my girls tore their tents to shreds (They're tentless! :O Oh noes!), but I'm worried the same will happen.

Beef: it's what's for dinner. Bagheera's obviously seen the commercials. He's a gorgeous boy. And he blinked! Gotta love the blinking thing.

That's one plasticed-over room, all right. :)

OK. Mim typed that. Dan guy will have to tell us what it MEANS...

As I was saying, WAY plastic'd over room!

The cubes are great, and WAY cheap, I have lots.

B ate today.

And moved.

Ate again today. Might have moved.

Ate some more. Didn't kill me.

Might have ate. Think he moved.....

We'll give all the time he needs to trust me.

Ok, so I clicked on the picture of The Cat By His Wild Lone*, and it came up huge so I could really see him, and what I saw was his ears are pricked, and his paws tucked under his body. As I read cat body language, he is relaxed and interested. Woot!! I think that's a great sign. And yes, Q, we live vicariously through you, so even the most mudane comments are interesting.

I particularly like the one earlier tonight "Rats. The rice."

Home from a friend's CD release concert. Interesting people I know. Interesting intersections in life. Be a Witness.

I think it means, Siri, that once you post a comment, all other comments after that come to your e-mail.

I have it set, since it's my blog, so that ALL comments come to my e-mail. How do you think I keep such track of your Fiends when I am out rescuing????

Is that hot, Dragonsally, I get so confused, it's summer now isn't it down there? It's freezing here, but when ice cream calls....

Sue, how can you make only 2 cookies????

At 7:23 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

RFP! You came back! Welcome and nic to mee you. Be happy here with th Fiends!

What is it with white dogs (mine are mostly white) and lying out in the burning sun?

At 7:33 PM , Blogger rfp said...

Thanks for the welcome! I've read you through RSS feed for a while, laughing at the similarities of Cabal's and Uli's training processes (more her training ME). If you have any advice on how to explain NOT TO FURIOUSLY LUNGE AT THE WINDSHIELD WHEN YOU SEE A DEER, please let us know.

At 7:35 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Dragonsally!!!EEEEWWWWW!!!!!!!

Way to lighten up the evening chat, hee-hee. Bet we have people de-lurking in droves! Yes, come here, we talk about maggots....

At 7:38 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Rfp, yup, Cabal trained me too, I knew nothing when we got him, still don't know much.

Fods, I don't know how to help with that one. The prey drive is so strong in these guys and they don't listen when it kicks in.

At 8:03 PM , Blogger ivenotime said...

oh rfp, uli is a beautiful baby! just gorgeous, and poses so nicely for the camera - the full out silly shot is my favorite. My dear little rocket smiled very sweetly at me tonight, as i stepped in HER PEE AND SHE FULL KNOWS WHERE THAT GOES. ugh. and it mixed with clay shard and was peey muddy mess. Tho, it was not maggots, ewwwww dragonsally, major yuch...

how does one make only two cookies? i live alone mostly and LOVE a fresh cookie. so i make up a batch of batter, keep it in a butter tub in the fridge and scoop out 3 or 4 and bake them when the urge hits (i can't eat ice cream cuz my teeth are too sensitive to cold, so cookies are my favorite indulgence along with chocolate) I didn't realize the tub had gotten so low, wah, only 2 left, tho they were of good size. shopping and batter making tomorrow.

oh, and rfp - why the name Uli? neat name, is it significant?

At 8:03 PM , Blogger rfp said...

yeah, scared the bejebus outta me with that one. One second singing along with Carly Simon, driving to The Loft for pizza, next second, MAD DOG! AAAAAAAAA!

At 8:05 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

It got worse Fiends, there was more than one maggot - and they were under the couch cushions and working their maggoty way places. Couch, pillows and coverings have been stripped and Dalmatian has been washed. I now feel like I have a broken back,a feeling anyone who has ever washed a large dog will know.
I deserve ice-cream now, dammit.

At 8:07 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Fods Sue, clver indeed!

Hee-hee, I hate it when they go MAD DOG!!!!!!!! Cabal will bark at dogs out the window, but we have never done deer, would not like to I am thinking....

notime: thank you! But unfortunately, Uli KNOWS she's cute, and works it. "How could MOI have eaten the porch?", blink blink blink.
My friend at the rescue where we got her said the name's from a contestant on the model reality show? It sounded German, so worked for me.

At 8:13 PM , Blogger gaypet said...

Ugh, maggots even gross ME out.

Uli is lovely! My Ginger has not seen any deer yet but for her size squirrels are her thing. She has run so fast after one that when she came to the end of the leash it stopped her short and her whole body flipped head over heals. I am better about stopping that before it happens now.

At 8:13 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

You need to come home and shoot all these Kitties for us, Miss Kitty!

Me and the Kitties are doing some SUV and wishing you were here! I would have bought you ice cream even...

At 8:15 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Cabal ate my Butlers Pantry the one night he was here. Why do they DO that???

We don't use those leashes with Cabal, when he runs and comes to the end of it YOU flip over...Been there done that.

At 8:17 PM , Blogger gaypet said...

Ah yes. I had a shepherd that ate the inside of my car. Do you KNOW how much it costs to replace seat belts? He was a dear though. Miss him.

At 8:22 PM , Blogger rfp said...

ha! Mine's great on the leash, so I'm thankful for that.

Gaypet: she's totally indifferent to squirrels EXCEPT when she knows I'm watching. Then it's, "oh yeah, woof woof woof! I was just getting to it, boss," trotting over to the tree...

At 8:22 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

He ate your seat belts???? Harsh.

Cabal ate a couch the first night we had him, most of it anyway...

At 8:24 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Cabal doesn't DO squirrela, he just looks at them, like "Right, like I can catch them???"

Of course he chases abbitts too, and theres no way he can get them either, go figure....

At 8:25 PM , Blogger gaypet said...

It is amazing how quickly they can turn things like a couch or a mattress into just so much stuffing!

HA, RPF, that's funny.

At 8:28 PM , Blogger rfp said...

squirrels: bane of birders everywhere. I wish Uli COULD catch them.

At 8:32 PM , Blogger gaypet said...

Hm, we had dog that caught squirrels and it's not pretty. She killed birds too. She would get them in the fenced yard.

Fancis wants to type now so I think I will sign off for a bit and give him some attention.

Cleaning up maggots most certainly means you deserve ice cream. And a brownie. And cake.

At 8:34 PM , Blogger rfp said...

yeah, good point. Squirrels probably not at all as cute when gutted on the lawn.

At 8:35 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

I agree. The shame of it is to get those things I'd have to go out, and I am way too pooped now to do that.

Maybe I will go and plead some ice-cream from the neighbors.

I just went to check on my Jungle Madness, and he was out of hiding! Sitting on the base of his cat tree, and he didn't run away!

I got down low, and stayed away and talked to him, and he blinked at me again!

Oh, this makes me happy!!!

I didn't know birders didn't like squirrels....

At 8:47 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

Yay! Bagheera certainly looks much better. He may still be scared, but he doesn't look as pissed. In fact, I don't think he looks pissed at all. He's also exploring his environment, and eating. :) There's still a long road ahead, but things keep looking up.

I think Venus' caption could also be, "You want me to do WHAT without my tea?!" Kali almost looks polydactyl in that photo, and at least Mim is in focus and isn't giving you the evil eye. ;) Now, Cabal knows how to pose for a picture. :)

Louisa, yay for shrunken apple heads! Though the idea was that you shrink/dry the apple heads, then float them in apple cider/pomegranate juice/whatever you're drinking. Sorry I didn't make that clear. Please, do post pictures of how they turned out. :)

Welcome, RFP! Uli sure is a pretty girl. I bet she knows it, too. ;)

Lavender, being half Great Pyrenees, is mostly white with some tan spots, and she loves to lay with her belly exposed. I will say that she doesn't do it too much during the hottest part of the day when the sun is right above her pen. Then she heads for the shade. :)

At 8:49 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Fantastic news Lorraine. See, I used up all the Fiends' bad luck today, so good things shall happen for the rest of you all, and that is a brilliant start.

At 8:51 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

I am pretty happy, tho sorry for your luck,Dragonsally....

I am resisting the urge to back in there....

At 8:54 PM , Blogger AletaMay said...

Oh Uli is lovely and has a lovely name!

Okay. Maggots. Ewwww.

I have been kinda cranky today and maybe a wee bit sick. These photos and the lovely fiend conversations found here have brightened my day.

I have some Kipling issues, but also fond memories of his stories and poems from childhood. I have been meaning to read The Jungle Book because of The Graveyard Book and even bought a copy a couple of months ago. I have read parts of it but never the whole thing.

I sometimes find it hard to find the right spot in my mind for some of these sorts of colonial works. It is the sort of puzzle I like to work on, though so it is all good.

At 9:05 PM , Blogger Arwenn said...

I'm thinking that the birder/squirrel dynamic has more to do with birdfeeders and the rodents' unearthly ability to reach the feeders - displacing birds and eating a LOT of birdseed.

I am an apartment-dwelling birder and have no intrinsic dislike of squirrels except when they roam the neighborhood in packs, that creeps me out.

At 9:12 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

::REALLY BIG GRIN:: Way to go, Ms. Fabulous! Now, to practice patience. Or should that be Patience. :)

Dragonsally, you definitely deserve ice cream, or anything else you want after having to clean dog AND couch. YEWEEWEWECHch ::shudder::

Govan caught at least one squirrel. We know because we saw the tail hanging out of his mouth as he was crunching the bones. The tail didn't last long as he slurped it down, too. He also apparently tried to catch a mouse/rat that ran under the house we lived in before our current house. He pulled up the aluminum siding off that house next to the back door. We know Govan did it because of the tooth marks in the siding.

At 9:13 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Aleta, I am glad to hear we are cheering you up, feel better! It's always nice to check in with some Fiends after a cranky day..

I hven't read enough Kipling to comment intelligently, trying tho.

I know what you mean about squirrels in packs, Arwen, down the street is a roadhouse bar, and I swear the pack that lives there wears leather jackets and smokes cigs.

They have a dare with eachother to run across the road at the last minute when a car goes by, like if they don't they are SO not cool....

At 9:16 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Dogs eat siding? Of course they do.

Mim is the best mouser ever, she kills them now and gives them to Kali.

I know, isn't it great??? He came out of hiding and I got my first good look at him, he is bigger than I thought, and far lovelier.

At 9:20 PM , Blogger Chantrelle said...

OK, the maggot thing is one of the nastiest things i've heard in a while...Really makes me NOT want a dog! (well, not really but EW!!!)

Welcome RFP! I delurked not too long ago and already feel like i've known these guys forever!

Think it's time for some mindless TV now...and some Recchiuti chocolate..mmm.

At 9:30 PM , Blogger ariandalen said...

No, Govan didn't eat the siding. He just pulled it up and off a portion of the house. He did eat some jewelers rouge though, and used a 5 lb. sledge hammer as a chew toy when he was a puppy, hence the name Govan...Welsh for hammer.

Lavender, on the other hand, has eaten aluminum soda cans. Not just chewed on them. Eaten parts of them. Fortunately, those parts passed without any problems.

My cat Tangwyn, once ate a pot metal pendant on a satin double-faced ribbon. That had to be surgically removed. I've also had to feed him IAMS or Eukanuba ever since, as other brands either cause diarrhea or vomiting. ::sigh::

rfp; your goggie is gorgeous too! shiny black wet nose and lots of it to lavish smooches on! She is the belle of the ball that girl.

I'm not even going to address maggots... The noise they make creeps me out big time!

I must say that Kali is too adorable for words and I just want to nibble her little feet! Such long beautiful whiskers & ear tufts.

Mim & Venus are still stalkin' rockers or rockin stalkers... or...

But you can tell HE is clearly contemplating his new hareem; you bevy of beautful babes! He's a lucky boy! He looks pleased.

Hi also to the regs! I've arrived just in time to bid good night to you... Jack is jumping jack into my lap letting me know that even though it's Friday night; we all need our beauty sleep.

Mr B looks in fine fettle. It's really good that he's up and exploring (especially him sitting at the cat tree!).

Venus looks so cute "Duude..turn the light down bro!" Nice of Mim to hold still enough for a picture (and not climb you in the process). That's awfully sweet of her to give Kali mice, like "Here..you're little, eat this." Kali is the cuteness with her little white toes. And Cabal looks so happy and relaxed.

RFP, Uli is gorgeous..such a photogenic girl.:)

Dragonsally, I hope you were finally able to get some ice cream cause you definitely deserve something after dealing with the maggot-ickiness. I love dogs but I hate how they love to roll in yucky stuff.

Off to bed.:)

At 12:33 AM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

What a great picture of Cabal! Thanks. And I am glad to read that your relationship with Mr. B. is progressing (and he eats) (and blinks!).
Kali is way too cute.

Only two cookies?
Freezer cookie. You make a batch of dough, roll it and freeze it. You can just slice a couple of slices and bake them. Or shape the cookies and freeze them. But it seems like a waste of energy to turn on the oven for just two cookies - better cook a whole batch and distribute the rest.

Yickes, Sally, I feel for you. Have some ice cream, definitely.

Welcome rfp. Animal lovers arewelcome here.

I am pleased to let all Fiends know that I finally recovered enough to drive to the shops, and treat myself to a tub of chocolate, vanilla and butterscotch icecream. It almost makes up for the yukkiness of maggots and consequent work.
As it made it to 31.2 C or 88.16 F, ice cream is quite appropriate.

Early morning at work here. Was reading thru the posts while things were running and 2 comments just keep me laughing cuz they are so awesome. Ms. Kitty's - "trust issues, we all have them". And RFP's comment - "Squirrels probably not at all as cute when gutted on the lawn". RFP that sounds like it should be a life lesson somehow... or a really great signature line quote. Welcome to you.

Ok, need more coffee and have to do some work.

What a morning! Had to get up WAY to early for some Assistanting, and DID set the alarm, but didn't turn off the Silent on Weekends Feature, as I didnot actually know it ws the weekend, and so made it by the skin of my teeth (whatever that mean...)

Not had nearly enough tea.

Did get a call from the Jungle Loves new Mom, she says their names are Spirit and ANgel , which seems perfect, and she and her husband LOVE them, and they sleep ON the bed with them, and eat from their hands, and run and play! She says she hates to go anywhere because sh just wants to be witht hem.

This makes me SO happy!!!!!! I knew there was a home for them where they could love and be loved!!!!!

My Leopards name is NOT Bagheera. Not sure how I know this. It might be Little Ghost, after the White Stripes song, which I have been re-writing for him and singing softly.

Ah well,, he will tell me in time, poor guy.

He declined to come out this morning, but is eating and useing his litter boxes.

It is lovely today, not sure what I am going to do besides bathe and take the dog somewhere fun.

Hey Kitty! Wasn't sure if anyone else knew that or not. Wait, you sent it to me, the original, Paul and I had heard Johnny do it and totally stole his cover (an ok thing to do if you tell them HEY I am so stealing your cover)

I love that song. Ill post the new Leopard Version tonight.

Those were The Little Ghost Lyrics, Nathilie!

You should see if last FM has the song, it's wonderful! White Stripes is the band.

My version with Leopard lyrics is better. Go, Fiends and listen to it, so I won't feel like a dork tonight when I post the new lyrics...

Freckles is coming for a play date...

At 12:00 PM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Just shows how much I know (not a whole lot). The band is on Last.fm but hardly a streamable track. Found them on imeen though...
I actually know that song - even if I am not familiar with the lyrics - so I have probably heard you sing it.

At 12:11 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Hmmm..You might have heard me do it. I love that song.

Cabals excitement has reached a fever pitch, I have been telling him about this play date and he runs back and forth, from me to the door, and I keep asking HEY IS FRECKLES HERE???? Which only adds to the fever...

(I'm horrible)

(Anyone who is trying to figure out how all these cats and dog get on together and why I talk about being with one of the other within a couple posts, I go back and forth between two houses. Dog is at Work at Bosses House and the Bengals are at my house, five minutes away. SO I may have changed houses since the last comment. I'm sneaky like that)

At 12:13 PM , Blogger spacedlaw said...

Either you or the boys (I think I might have heard Adam and Johnny do it... Unless it is on the Tim Malloy's page. Or Adam's on Last.fm).

At 12:24 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Adam and Johnny do do it. So do Paul and I , but the genius in finding it belongs to Johnny.

Cabal just laid down with the most long suffering sigh a dog could do. Best to stop teasing I think....

I teared up a bit reading about Spirit and Angel. Happy ending are so wonderful and I am such a romantic! Thanks for letting us know that they are settling in.

I think that B using the litter boxes (for now at least) is a wonderful sign! Do you use Feline Pine by any chance? I have found it works best for the ferals that I have had. They are attracted to the smell and more "natural" feel. Plus it last a long time. Anyway, my guys like it.

What a great day! M and I went to buy a b-day present for his Dad and he chose a PEZ dispenser. I think it may end up being M's eventually. It's still fun to take him out to find something "that Daddy may like".

Glad you made it to work even if it was rushed. I once had a dream that I was dismantling a bomb and woke up with my alarm clock all in bits on the floor. I sleep kinda hard. :D

Fod/dess bless Lorraine. Helping one or helping many- it puts something good out into the world.

Hmmm....I think I need acreage. Maybe after Son+ heads for college. I can be the crazy cat/animal lady of the neighborhood.

Hi Beez, haven't seen you in a while! Nice to see you again. Friends tell me I am going to end up a crazy old cat lady and I a;ways say "You say that like it's a bad thing...."

I use clay and yesterdays news, Gayle, no complaints.

My Leopard is hiding, but ate all his steak. Venus just tried to kill Mim. And Cabal had a wonderful play date with Freckles. They got really wet but no one bled.

Oh my M (Micah, human) wants a chinchilla! I told him he could maybe have one when he was a little bigger. When HE care for it. We will certainly do rescue if we get one. And that will be at least 3 years from now.

At 4:13 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

It is good to make him wait, by then he will have had lots of time around your other rescues and know about how much work they are...

Rescue chinchillas! I just like the sound of it. I don't know why.

That's such great news about the JL's. What a lovely happy ending! :)

Round these parts we use Tidy Cat Small Spaces, orange flavour. Anything else gives Ally the fat lip. Poor cat's allergic to everything, it seems.

Call him Professor McWhiskers! It's completely inappropriate, but at the moment amuses me. :D

Do tell????

Proffesor McWhiskers? No. Not in my house.

Today I have been calling him "Little Ghost" becuse with a very few word changes, it could be a song about him. I'll post it soon....

At 4:37 PM , Blogger Jess said...

"Ghost" might not be a bad name, actually. The glowing eyes make him look a little like one. :)

I can't remember the name on the bottle label-- I'll check when next I'm in the kitchen. It's a Malbec, very dry. Pretty tasty I thought. Causes a certain level of difficulty in typing comments on blogs.

*hic*

Gayle, Son+ was chinchilla mad from a very young age. He researched and read and anything he could- but we didn't get one until he and I moved out on our own- he was 14.

She is a lovely little thing- a Black Velvet chin.

Maybe you and Micah can visit sometime- we aren't that far away.

*hugs*

Thanks for the hello 'Lo. Life's been wicked hard for a bit, so I retreated.

Probably not the right move :P

Jess is drinking!

She can't drink alone, who else is drinking tonight? I know Aleta is at a concet, and Fiendoffur too.

Where is my designated drinker? I want to drink too. I mean , here it is Saturday night.....

At 4:46 PM , Blogger Jess said...

If it makes you feel any better, I've actually finished drinking. Three glasses is my absolute limit. I'm just sitting back and feeling the effects, now. :)

I want to go to a concert. I haven't been since we went to see Howard Shore do the Lord of the Rings Symphony at Blossom Music Center last summer. (Which is an awfully long time, now I think of it! How sad.)

We didn't see anyone dressed as Elves, but it was good all the same. Love me some Howard Shore.

At 4:46 PM , Blogger Beez said...

I got mine! The USAnians are currently at it.

My UK designees have gone to bed.

Wimps. Pissed on cider.

At 4:47 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

We all retreat from time to time, Beez, nothing wrong with that when life gets wicked hard, just remember, you have Fiends here who care.

That's what we are about.

I always kind of wanted a chinchilla, they are so lovely, are they good pets? I will not be getting one mind you, but they are lovely..

We did small animals when Boss's kids were growing up. Had a guinea pig. Got another. Same sex.

So we thought. They made three more. One had horns. One child wanted to call it "horney" the other wanted to name it Jane, after a friend. We called it Horney Jane.

At 4:49 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Well, Dragonsally ought to be up soon Down Under. DOubt she will start her SUnday with a few drinks but we can hope. And it is early yet for CA.

Jess is done?

How can we all get together and drink when we live in so many time zones? And some of us don't drink, but have designated drinkers who are whooping it up somewhere in LA?

At 4:53 PM , Blogger Beez said...

Horney Jane! *falls over laughing*

She is a very nice pet. Family raised, grew up around dogs so not fearful or intimidated.

They are nocturnal though, and you need to be ready for chirping and wheel-running at night.

Her first day here she was on the couch with Geoff (son) and max the cat was stalking her.

She marched right up to him and nipped him on the nose.

They've reached détente, except the dog persists in trying to lick her face.

At 5:00 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Yup. True story. Except the Jane, the name was changed to protect the innocent friend whose name ws taken, an author friend who thought it equaly funny.

I am going to take my Leopard a piece of steak. No doubt he will be happy about this. Hard to tell.

At 5:07 PM , Blogger Jess said...

Hello, Beez! *waves*

Don Miguel Gascon 2007, it was. Soft tannins with hints of blackberry, cherry, and mocha, apparently. I dunno. It was a red and three dollars off, that's all I know.

Guinea pigs get horns? Or is that just something that happens at Spookyhaus? You know: Guinea pigs, tomatoes. Marrots. Bears.

At 5:13 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Silly! Tufts of hair that LOOK like horns.

I love it "red and three $$ off" you make me laugh.

I just cleaned the litter boxes like I do EVERY night, and all three of these darn Beasties dropped bombs within moments. Spolied things need to learn to use the toilet.

My Leopard didn't when I cleaned his three litter boxes, but he has been using them, which makes me happy.

Steak failed to thrill him, still he did not growl or hiss.

At 5:36 PM , Blogger gaypet said...

I had a friend who named his Chinchilla, Attila. Attila the Chinchilla. I think they are wonderful animals and there are a lot in rescue groups so it's perfect for us. I think 14 is a nice age to shoot for. :)

M wants fish right now. Not sure what to do about that. "I want you to get me fish for Chanukah, Mommy." It's hard to say "NO!". We shall see.

At 5:46 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Morning all!
Had a nice big sleep in. Actually, I couldn't move parts of my body after washing Big Dog yesterday(and all the other washing and hanging out).
I swear, we grow more bones and muscles and things when bending over a bath to wash a big dog. Maybe that's how your carrots started Lorraine?
Spirit and Angel are perfect for JL 1 & 2, and Little Ghost, wow that is his name for sure. LG. Life's Good. (erk, jingle's meaning something, very bad)
And do you see the Spooky House connection with those 3 names?

We have to be very careful not to say the names of Shiraz and Mulder's friends when they are expected or we get double the over-excitement and then sulky dog syndrome. But it is fun teasing them.

At 5:54 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Gayle, go for the fish, dead easy and cheap to boot. I have a coffee table fish tank, with, uh, currently one fish, I think he ate his friends, but it is easy.

I so want pirranahas..I know that is spelled wrong but sometimes firefox spell checks and sometimes it doesn't.

Morning Dragonsally! So sad you are sore. Little Ghost might be his name, and it is my initals too....It is very hard to say at this point.

At 5:57 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Oh yes, I hadn't thought about your initials. You do have LG in the States don't you? And I'm guessing that if that is so you've had the "Life's Good" thing thrown at you a trillion times.

Body is starting to feel better as it gets more caffeinated. I am not addicted.

At 6:00 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

You have lost me, not sure what LG is, but my given name is Lorraine Garland,

I do really want to cover Joe Walshes Lifes Been Good tho, PERFECT for an Irish bar I say...

At 6:04 PM , Blogger gaypet said...

I was looking for "little ghost" translations in languages where the leopard cat comes from and came across this . I will keep looking. :)

At 6:06 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Cool! Yes, keep looking, Little Ghost in another language might be it, we will discover his name....

At 6:10 PM , Blogger gaypet said...

Ya, I think that if it makes M happy, I will get him some fish for his "big" gift this year. They are cheep and easy and he will love it. There is a wonderful store in Northfield that sells fish and is owned by a very nice woman who does lots of rescue. At the moment she has the most beautiful corn snakes that she rescued and has up for sale. One is all white and the other is orange. I would take them if I didn't have to feed them what one has to feed them. They are so beautiful and M loves them. Oh well, fish, most certainly fish.

At 6:28 PM , Blogger Dragonsally said...

Oh dear, sorry to flummox you.

For some reason I can't get my bloody link attempts to work - check out LG at wikipedia...its a big electronics company

At 6:40 PM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Ah that explains it...LG go it.Well, I am certainly often electric...

Yes, Gayle, Fish are the answer, very easy they are, and fun for kids too. Get fish that are all the same siz tho and little are better than big, they do GROW....

At 7:25 PM , Blogger Jess said...

Ut it was $3 bucks off, Quiche! :D

Feesh! ><(({°> Fishes are good. Though if you go for a serious fish tank, stick with freshwater and start with few. And expect to end up, eventually, with a second tank. When I was growing up we had three: two big tanks and a breeding tank, so the babies wouldn't be eaten.

I stopped keeping fish when I ended up with one too many mouthfuls of fish-water trying to clean the tanks via the plastic hose-siphon method. Bleh. Don't miss that!

Sorry the steak-magic didn't happen this evening.... At least he's calm and quiet. And he did blink! That's not to be sneezed at. To me that says it's going well.

Hello fiends. I ended up staying home. The show did not start until 9:30 and I am just too tired for a late night. Still fighting a cold or something.

I just poured myself a nice big drink! Okay it is water. If I had it I would be drinking hot apple cider with some of the very good schnapps I brought back from Germany a couple of years ago. But other than something like that alcohol is not appealing to me tonight.

Sounds like things are going well with Little Ghost. I am so pleased!

Fish are good. Especially if you don't have a fireplace. My doctor's office has fish tanks in the waiting room. It is really calming to watch the fish rather than worrying about my appointments!

Hi Aleta, sometimes Water IS the perect drink....Sorry you didn't get to your concer, but glad you are home and cozy.

Just posted my Revised Little Ghost Lyrics, if you know the song you will love it, if you don't, go find it.

At least we won't have to scroll down so far, and maybe SUe will get in again with the first comment!

Or not, it is Saturday, not everyone is home....

I'll go and read it then...

You'd totally have the whole bar singing along..it would SO rock!

Lorraine,
Your "little Ghost" lyrics are sweet, but I feel they will change, as he becomes more familiar with his "space", and gets a little lonely. More exploring will be done. (smile)
He looks beautiful laying at the foot of the table with the bright red cover. I took a good close look at the photo, and was wondering, does he have a tiny bit of white, at the TIP of his tail? If I had noticed that at first, I would be calling him "Tippy".
He tippy-toes around the room
to investigate his new home...
LOL
I'm happy you are comfortable with allowing him to familarize himself with "his space".
In his current hiding spot, he can easily see when you enter, and the fact that he kept his front paws folded under himself, while you were taking the photo is a good sign. If he were very uncomfortable, he would have re-positioned his paws, ready for "flight" - which with paws folded, and tail curled comfortably around himself, no fear was being exhibited. GOOD SIGN.
Most digital cameras have a place in menu where you can elect to turn flash off. Usually it is a little lightening-bolt covered with the slashed O for the off position.
Does his room have windows? If so, I think it would be good to open the drapes, to allow as much normal daylight in the room as possible. That would also help in further attempts to photograph him.
I've been thinking of you, today, and wondering how things are going.
I loved the photos of your other cats, and "office" dog. (smile)
They all look confident and well loved.
Keep me posted, as things develop, or as you have question.
huggs for you, and purrs for your feline family members.

He does have a tiny bit of white on the tail! And it is a sort of an oversized ottoman kind of thing he hides under.

That's good to know about how he was sitting, he hasn't done the fear thing, not warming up, but not running away, and he did stay out while I was in the room once.

It is going to take some time, but it is going to be worth it, this I am sure. My Little Ghost!

At 2:37 PM , Blogger Dan Guy said...

I like to peek out from under ottomans too sometimes.
