Nothing to do!!!!!

I took this photo with my photo booth thingie in celebration today. I woke up, bounded out of bed and thought" ok, what do I have to do today " and stopped. I have nothing to do today. Nothing I HAVE to do. It's still storming. I have no car. It's Sunday so no work, I have no gig. Yesterday Mary the Housekeeper and I cleaned the HECK out of House, so that's done. Nothing.

When was the last time THIS happened??? I have no idea.

I even came downstaires and flipped on the TV, more out of curiousity than anything else, and found that USA is running a marathon of my favourite TV show ( Law and Order SVU, oddly enough ) all day long. And the Oscars are on tonight, which I am watching to see Melissa Etheridge perform and get her Oscar .

A whole day. Wow. I say, Wow.

There are , of course, a lot of things I am going to do, shovel, practice, write, HOT TUB , re-do my clothes closet, finally get the craft room in order, take a long walk in the snow and such. But the point is I don't HAVE to. Ahhhh......

Had to share with you all, as this is not something that happens to me.

And , oh, uh, Sue? You are stranded in Minneapolis in the middle of a blizzard with a shut down airport and sold out hotel and you don't call me? One of the finest Personal Assistants living? Personal Assistants are really good at this sort of thing. Walk in the Park as a matter of fact. We can handle that situation before breakfast without blinking. Heck, even in the middle of a blizzard without a car I could have got you out here to House and you could have been hanging by the fire or in the hot tub... ( I am not any better with steaks tho than the Sheraton ) At least I could have got you a room next door at the 4 star French Hotel, at the same rate.

Silly girl.

Love, Lounging and snow,
Lorraine

I love days with nothing to do. We've unexpectedly gotten a ton of snow so I'm trapped inside with nothing to do but lounge.

That's a very cool picture - my self-portraits never look that good.

A day with nothing to do... that would be nice. Not that I've had _no_ free time lately, but it's always been painfully scraped together.

I start my new job tomorrow! wish me luck!

Usually (not always) but usually whenever you post a photo, you are deck up in full makeup and a lovely hair do. It's charming to see you so natural with looking so beautiful! You have been graced with beautiful, full, sensual facial features! You looked enchanting. Speaking of self-portraits my assignment is to do a self-portrait. I hate looking at myself! I'm my hardest critic, I see every flaw and it's maddening!
Enjoy your lovely day! Namaste

Darling, i neeeeeed your cell number - if i had it i would've called you begging and pleading, as your skills are the finest without a doubt!!! the hockey puck was a hamburger, seriously couldve broken a window if i'd a flung it like a frisbee. (why didn't i think of that last night?) hot tub? i was wet and tired and felt like yesterdays chow mein noodle, sounds like heaven. i finally made it home today - left for the airport at 7 am and got to muskegon at 6 pm, with delays all day at the airport, lotsa snow and ice here in Michigan too, and NORTHWEST LOST MY LUGGAGE. They insist it was on the plane, and northwest personnel cked the carousel twice not believing me when i said it was not there. (like i don't know my luggage??) clothes can be replaced, but my morgue is in there, and that's hard to redo...but I had all my glass stuff in my carry ons, and simply couldn't pack the morgue in, cross your fingers for me....and stay safe and warm, and enjoy your Day of No Obligations, celebrate!!! (but offer a small prayer to the God of Luggage, that mine be found.....)

Good photo too!

Glad you all liked the photo, I think. That's me just out of bed, by about 10 minutes. ( in case you ever wondered what I looked like just out of bed in the morning )

My day continues fine. Shoveled. A LOT. Then hot tubbed. A LOT. Just saw Melissa sing her song on the Oscars. Liked that a LOT.

Saw the entire Oscar pre show. ( Not so much liked it a lot ) and have come to the conclusion that Malena looks way better than any of them. Also that I was better dressed this morning in my robe-just-out-bed look than some of them.

Malena and I should play the Oscars. Someone break it to her gently....

You took that photo 10 minutes after jumping out of bed and you looked so lovely? Damn woman; you have guts. Plus, you looked beautiful! My face looks like road kill when I just get up! And even after I've washed my face and put on my makeup, I'm not ready for my close up!~Two weeks ago a film crew was at the yoga studio (think it was "Inside Edition") to shoot a yoga class of James Morrison of "24". All these yoga princesses placed themselves in front in clear camera view and I placed my yoga mat wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back out of the reach of the camera. Didn't want my photo taken, especially among those super slim (and I weigh 112 pounds) yoga princesses! Still, you looked amazing for being fresh out of bed! Shanti, shanti, OM - Namaste.

Lorraine :: I feel it's your moral imperative! I've been sorely tempted to book myself a conference in San Francisco in a few weeks to escape this snow.

How many people can look that HOT in the morning? Not I said the patent leather hen! Fablo, you look great. I can't wait to see you!!! Hidden Variable baby! Now we're in two bands together. LaMies, can you imagine what the "behind the scenes footage" will be like. I'll tell you...
happy crazy fun giggly girlpower! I'll take my digital camcorder along just for you!

You know... I love the snow. I really do. I love snow days...I love snow storms... I love crunching through the snow... I love snow falling... I love the glistening perfection of sunlight on snow, refIecting from each crystaline fractal... I forgive LaMie completely when she wakes me up, no matter what time, if it is snowing outside... I love the silence that snow brings (even when you live near the crossroads of two major commuter lanes, like I do) I love the patterns you can make in snow... I love the patterns the wind makes in snow, blowing or blown... I love the way the air smells before, during and after snow... I love the way the trees cradle snow to their boughs... I love the contrast of snow on a mountainside... I love the look of a snow shrouded forest... I love frost for its pale imitation of a snowfall... I love all the fun things you can do with snow (except for making slush)... I love the feel of snowflakes on my skin... and I live in Canada.... and I have NO SNOW... my parents, a fairy ride away, had snow recently. I get rain.

Long ago my love for snow and the beauty of a book about Lake Baikal made me promise myself a year in Siberia on the shores of Baikal... mostly so I could see snow ... lots of snow... for months on end. I thought maybe that would cure me.

So... Lorraine... I have sunshine right now, wanna trade? You could come enjoy the sun... I could come enjoy the snow.

And I just want to add... since I am here already... a huge thanks to all the folks I met at Balticon last year. As I lay, swathed in self pity and misery last night (for no good reason), unable to sleep... I had only to immerse myself in memmories of Baltimore and I felt at ease and my heart soared in joy and peace came to my soul. I would never have dared to go if not for this blog. I cannot imagine such peace without all of you. My gratitude exceeds my ability to express it.

Today? " Snow and scattered thunderstorms with 16 to 21 inches by the end of Friday"

It has no idea what it wants to do. Should I rain? Snow? What the heck season is it anyway, says the Weather Gods.....

Prius was covered in ice, and then snow this morning. It will be staying in the garage now until this is over. Digging out is my one of my favourate things.....

Gee, you could always come to Central Texas. We've had up to 80 degree weather with wind. We are under a Fire Weather Warning today (Thursday, 3/1) - 15% to 25% humidity with wind gusts to 35 mph. The red oaks are budding out. We're also supposed to have a freeze warning on Saturday night. The high temperature for today is 68-71.
And to think, just a month ago we watched a harrier hawk hunting about a half mile from our house.

We are SO buried! My poor hot tub is in the middle of a drift! I took lots of pictures and as soon as i can get to my other computer I will post them.

I am determined to get to the Cities today, if the Hwy is open again, it's New Hair Day, always exciting! Today, we are going for something completely different, all the colours MIGHT be ones occuring naturelly in hair! Kid you not, goodby Rainbow Brite! ( at least for the next 8 weeks )

Malena and I have some exciting news for you too, not to tease you . ( who am I kidding, OF COURSE I am teasing you! ) I think she will be doing a blog shortly about it...( again, who I am I kidding? Shortly? It's 8:AM in LA, the little Vampire won't be up for HOURS! )

I'll post pics tomorrow of the new hair, unless it turns out evil, then I will post me with a BAG over my head!

haha, i'm sure the hair will turn out great - we are buried in drifts here as well, blowing snow like no other. my twins are coming home from college today, so i pray they take it easy and get home safe. i am off to plow. what other purpose do i have in life.....

At 1:24 PM , Blogger Rubius said...

Looking forward to the pix, L. Have fun with the hair!!! I am sure it will be great.

And Sue, I would love to visit you... now how do I hitchhike thousands of kilometers over a weekend and still get back to work on time by Monday...hmmmm

At first I was wondering who that was a picture of! Then I realized. You look almost native American. Lovely.

Snow? I haven't worn a coat yet this winter...just my cashmere cape a couple times.

Danth and Ravyn... good birds! Keep scouting for 'wranglers'.

Yep! I've come up for a breath from the unending activity that is my life as of late. Been working on a website update for a long-term client with a fly-in fishing lodge in Canada, a book cover design, and a digital restoration project of an antique map of the Georgia sea islands. Had a couple nibbles on the house sale...if you didn't know, I'm moving back to Maryland.

The Alchemy news (and she accuses me of bragging tooo much...sharight!): She placed 7th in the region in the Math Counts competition. She was the only person from her school to place.

Lorraine and Malena: I found an item which looks JUST like the two of you. I have had it at work all week meaning to mail it! Been too busy at work to do my work. Is there any specific address to which you'd prefer me send it?

At 6:45 AM , Blogger ivenotime said...

OK! another lovely foot of snow! I get to plow and shovel! joy! Kristina, i am darn near ready to pay you to come out and clean this mess! wish i had the funds! Lorraine, how much snow did you wind up with? Vanda, congrats on alchemy - aka mathwizard! off i go to battle white fluffy.....

At 7:33 AM , Blogger FabulousLorraine said...

Vanda, you can send it to us c/o Dreamhaven Books 912 W. Lake st Mpls MN 55408. ELizabeth never misses a gig and always brings our mail down, and it is often faster than the drop box.

We got about 10 feet of snow. Well, maybe not. A Lot. That's how much. I so have to go and shovel so that Miss Kitty can get up the staires tomorow morning. I am done with snow, tho I must say it is pretty. Did get stuck in Minneapolis, but Adam Stemple is like unto a snow God and got me out.

I am going to take pictures of this new hair just as soon as I can and post them, hopefully , later today.

GREAT! I'll get it off to Dreamhaven today!

Thank you for all the kudos for Alchemy. She says I brag too much, so I'll mention that her Odyssey of the Mind team came in sixth last weekend so there is no going to the state for her. Heh!
