I kept that postcard on my wall until it faded so bad I finally had to throw it out.kali_licioushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12525644833042521402noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10610763.post-1147118640804050712006-05-08T13:04:00.000-07:002006-05-08T13:04:00.000-07:00lol... It looks like she's trying to get away. Maybe she's just a little camera shy?

And yay for sharing art! I think I might have to make another run to the Legion of Honor before I pop. Some of my favourite art is in there, and I'm not sure how long it will be before I'll be able to see it again.mistress mouseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12241148211505288009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10610763.post-1147070458136348982006-05-07T23:40:00.000-07:002006-05-07T23:40:00.000-07:00Oh... Rodin visited the Van. Art Gallery recently....Oh... Rodin visited the Van. Art Gallery recently... he was phenomenal... just breathtaking. there were a few pieces that just made my knees melt. the flow... the lines... oh.beautiful.

The most recent exhibit was a local artist named Bryan Jungen, he makes fantastic skeletons and other objects out of common place things like runners and lawn chairs. I didn't actually get a chance to see it - to my shame - but I saw a tv show on it and the life-size whale skeleton made of lawn chairs looked amazing... He is a first nations artist too so his stuff is really neat--- from what I saw (and heard from friends) I would recommend it if his art comes to your neighborhood.Rubiushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12489017422221346200noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10610763.post-1147064882697888892006-05-07T22:08:00.000-07:002006-05-07T22:08:00.000-07:00thanks for the pic of cruella, she is gorgeous. I ...thanks for the pic of cruella, she is gorgeous. I hope she is gentle.

and THANK YOU so much for the Bougereau... Wow... it makes me really happy that you like Bougereau because he has been my favourite artist (other than my dad) for many years, since I went to Italy and bought a couple prints of his angels...a few years ago I just missed a travelling art show that came to vancouverthat included a self-portrait of W.A. Bougereau (I didn't hear about it until the last week and I had university classes the whole week)but the Vancouver Art Gallery was kind enough to keep it on the wall just long enough for me to make it down there and be personally escorted to see it... after the show was shut down. It was great. I don't think it was the first Bougereau that I have seen, but it was the first since I knew who he was. I think I saw one in Paris when I was much younger and only later was I able to figure out that HE was the artist I had liked so much in the Musee d'Orsay.

Malena, it is amazing because when you say your reasons for liking his art, when you say "because you couldn't see the brush strokes" it is exactly what I said about him... and it is exactly what I like about his paintings... and especially the luminous skin. last time I was painting in oil I pulled out my posters of his paitings and tried to get the look of his skin... unfortunately, not very successfully.

Have you seen Cupidon?... I love the red in the hair adn the soft soft eyes, if you get a good print... It is probly my fav, along with ... lemme pull out my book on him... Le ravissement de Psyche, Young Priestess, oh there are so many favs.. and La danse, the Pet bird, Evening Mood, The shell, and Innocence... oh and the First Kiss.

If you look at the face, pose, hair, and general look of the girl in Innocence i think it looks remarkably like the character of Mia Sara in Legend (the absolute distillaton of innocence).Rubiushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12489017422221346200noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10610763.post-1147063421226586002006-05-07T21:43:00.000-07:002006-05-07T21:43:00.000-07:00i love the romantic trip, darlink.don't know this ...i love the romantic trip, darlink.
don't know this painter but will definitely check into him.
that photo of CDV is wooooonder-bar.
xoxoxo see you tomorrow?!
kittersKitty Cathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10678414418125790641noreply@blogger.com
